Hi all
I'm considering getting reins for my 16m old, she loves walking but also loves wandering off! For those who have tried them, did you like/dislike them and why ?

They're ok and thats all I can say about them. I always found dd dangling from them because she would suddenly decide to stop walking or lift her feet off the floor.

DD is a much better hand holder or holding on to the pushchair than ever she is with reins but every child is different.

Used them for a while as DS was/is a runner and they were a god send. I do find that now (2.1 yrs) the threat of going back in the pushchair is enough to make him 'walk nicely'.

Definitely worth trying. Depends on the situation. I think they are good for situations where the child can take the lead and you are happy to meander along behind - eg visiting a farm or next month when we go to the Deep aquarium DD will have hers on. Sometimes I also use them as back up and loop them round my hand while I am holding DD's hand when we want to walk in a particular direction.

Dd (2) loves her reins and asks to have them on when we go out cos it means she gets to walk rather than go in the buggy. We live on a VERY busy road so I like to have them on her for safety and it is backbreaking tring to hold her hand all the time. Dd is going through a buggypushing phase at the moment so needs both her hands for that too . Also we often go places by bike and the reins are great if we need to walk somewhere busy. I think if kids get used to them early then they arent bothered by them and I think they are very practical.

Also good if child is unsteady on feet. You can jerk them back onto their feet.
