Where do you keep your nappy bin?

My friend was horrified that I keep my Tommy Tippie nappy wraper in my baby's room where she sleeps, it never occured to me that this might be a health hazzard and have moved it the the bathroom but am now wondering if my friend is over reacting. Where do you keep your nappy bin?

I keep it in the bathroom, but in our old house, kept it in DS's room.

Why is it a health hazard? We scrapped our nappy wrapper because we decided it was a waste of time and space - we now just put nappy sacks in the bin, then empty the bin into the dustbin once a day.

Bathroom but it is a nappy bin for cloth nappys and not a nappy wrapper. I can't see the problem having a nappy wrapper in the bedroom, isn't that the point of a wrapping nappies?

Don't have one. Change nappies and throw them downstairs. Then put them by back door until ready to go out.

Baby's room - no space in the bathroom. And it's for cloth nappies, so it is a large bucket with a lid that snaps shut. But a determined toddler could open it. With dd we just said "no" very firmly whenever she even touched it and she never opened it. Hopefully ds will be as good. Although moving it to the bathroom won't help if he isn't.

your mate is overreacting.

I put ds's in carrier bags and chuck them outside. No nappy wrappers here, thank you very much.

have a pail for cloth nappies in the bathroom... simply because it's more convenient

outside, for dirty nappies
kitchen bin, for wet ones

no wrappers, just wrapped on themselves and then into the kitchen bin. Always have done. The smell of nappie wrappers always makes me heave, very eco-unfriendly too.

nappies go with general rubbish, in carrier bag outside if nasty

Outside back door, for cloth nappies. At bottom of back garden in Summer.

We had a changing table in DD's bedroom (not a posh one, just the top of a chest of drawers as I preferred standing up to change nappies after a c-section. So the nappy wrapper was next to the table.

DD has had a cold and chest infection for 3 weeks, my friend seemed to think this was why she can't shake it. Maybe I'll just re-think my choice of mates!

?? in the bedroom, not next to cot at all....tbh, it would never have crossed my mind as being a hazard, health or otherwise. DD has always known its not for playing with, and its tucked away behind the door and gets emptied regularly, doesn't smell, etc. Also can't think of any of my friends who have theirs anywhere else! Maybe we're all in deep denial...

we throw ours out the bathroom window and then at end of the day collect them up and put them in outside bin. Once dh was too energetic and threw one in next door's garden - guess who had to retrieve it

Flying nappies! Love it.

I had one for the first child and would never have one again, nappies go in the bin or in the outside bin if they're horrible.

I have washable nappies in bucket (lid) in DD room AND another lidded bin with rubbish (wipes and disposables when at nursery)
I empty the one bin when she goes to bed but the nappy bin is there overnight as I wash every OTHER day

never crossed my mind til saw this post

Totally ignore your friend, I keep my TT Nappy Wrapper in the bathroom but only because our bathroom is so big.

I worked for Tommee Tippee for 3 years and there is NO possible way that keeping it in a bedroom is a health hazard, the only thing you shouldn't do is put it next to a radiator because it will start to stink (you would be suprised how many people do this)

Tell your friend to get a life.
