Delicate question for mums of girls

Its really hard to know how to word this and I'm probably worried over nothing.

My DD who is 4 was doing roly poly's last night and gave me a flash of her underneath area. Her vagina looked bigger to me than I would expect to see. There was an obvious gap/hole. I'd say about 1cm in diameter. I really would have thought that at that age it would be all closed up, no hole visible.

So, my question is whether your little girls have an obvious hole? Am I being paranoid about nothing because clearly there are implications if my daughter has a visible hole that she shouldn't have.

I've had a sleepless night over this. Have thought of nothing else all day. I can hardly do a search on the net for pictures of girls so I can compare so I'm hoping Mumsnet can just tell me whether or not I have something to worry about.

I am a regular who has changed her name, but please realise I'm not a troll asking you to describe your daughters genitals. I just need to know if what I have described is normal.

Many thanks.

Thank you. Now I feel embarrassed in asking. But I got the answer I wanted.

Bless.

When they do roly polys and their legs are splayed, I guess you do get a hole - pretty sure I've had a flash (or 7) of my DD's whose a similar age.

What you're describing certainly doesn't ring any alarm bells with me.

DD only 18 months but I would say that even at her age yes its normal. I know that as a child I wasn't really aware of it myself, mind you.
