What is the best car seat for a 6 year old? My Britax has broken.

Hi, my very tall 6 year old needs a car seat after her Britax Evolva broke in my hands. The polystyrene head rest had split in two. It was brand new when we bought it 2 years ago.

The seat needs to be able to fit in a Ford Fiesta (the new model) and a BMW Z3. The 4X4.

I always thought Britax were the best so I was pretty shocked that it broke. I might send it back to Britax, but I don't have a reciept. Anyway, we need a new one, so if you could recommend a good one that would be really helpful. Smile

Is she big enough for a normal booster now? Mothercare do fairly decent ones.

I do need it to be a high backed booster rather than just one she sits on as I want it to have side impact protection and she also sleeps in the car and needs something to snuggle in to.

If you don't want another Britax (and I think the
Adventure is their alternative highback which has been on offer recently), try a Maxi Cosi Rodi.

We just got a Kiddy Comfort Pro and it looks great - using it for 3yo though atm.

That one looks gorgeous and very comfy, but it only goes up to 18kg. My daughter is 4 stone 4lbs.

The new Britax one dosn't look as nice as her old one, but looks arn't everything as long as it's safe.
I'll look at the maxi Cosi Rodie one now.

we have the maxi cosi rodi xr for dd and ds (7 and 4 years old) and they seem comfy. We also have a britax adventure in dh's car which is like the old britax hi-liner.

Sorry no advice on car seat but I would email/ring Britax and tell them what happened. They are really good and when my friend had a problem with hers they sent a courier round to pick it up and drop a new one off at the same time.

Worth a try.

Ps, I also think they may do spare parts and I'm pretty sure I've heard of people getting the polystyrene replaced if it's broke/cracked.

MummylovesLucy, no, it goes up to 36 kilos. I got it for my older child originally but the younger one liked it so he's having it.

Kiddy do several seats, the infinity might be the one you're thinking of. the Comfort pro and Guardian pro both serve up to twelve years old.

I have it here in the living room as we speak, it is massive when fully extended! It could seat an adult.

x posts, Seona - thanks!

Yes britax will send you out new polystyrene inserts, they might charge, might not.

They do other parts as well.

That would be great if they could send me a new insert, even if I have to pay for it. It'll be cheeper than a new chair. Smile
