Since DS was a baby I have called him "Mogs". I think its because he reminded me of Mogwai in Gremlins when he was first born!!! (Bad mother I am), even now I shout "Mogs" in the street and he will respond to me.

If you ask DD2 (7) what her name is she will reply Lumpy

We've called her Lumpy since she's been inside me.

We call DT2 Fatboy and DT1 slim cos there's about a 6lb difference between them.

my DS2 is called Teacup my me, DH and DS1 - very often in public. Just sounds normal to me but it's not until someone who doesn't know him very well comments on it that I realise it's not a "usual" nickname!

Dh calls ds1 JM, which are his initials. My dad calls him JJ. His name is Jonathan, but when he first learnt his name he said Jossesson so me and dh sometimes call him that and he answers to all of them.

DD sometimes gets called Berba by dh, because when she was born, ds1 was 2 and pronounced her name Becca, as Berba. Her name is actually Rebecca but we call her Becca, though her brother calls her Becky.

DS2 has his name shortened from Ciaran to Key by his brother and sister, though not by us. Dh sometimes calls him Key Key.

I think Mogs is fine I have a cousin mog who is a girl and think that nicknames give individuality but they should be at the consent of the nicknamee if they can express a preference.

Julio McGulio! Don't know why

Manu Man - he couldn't say Matthew at first and called himself Manu

He has decide he doesn't like Matthew and wants to be called "Fred Johns"!!!!!!!!!

I think he'll end up as Matt which is fine by me.

Dses arepPumpkin or pudding, and occasionally sweetpea. Only really at bedtime as in "night night pumpkin, sleep tight".
Occasionally I call them mister, as in "come on, mister, time to go".
I used to work in a supermarket and had a customer who came in every week with her baby daughter, who she called Sausage. I was in there last week for the first time in ages, and she was there too with the daughter, who is now a teenager. And yes, she called her Sausage. So it just goes to show how pet names can stick!
