Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Onwards and upwards. wink

nicename Mon 30-Sep-13 17:22:53

IamtheZombie Mon 30-Sep-13 17:24:01

Go Zombie! You're amazing.

IamtheZombie Mon 30-Sep-13 17:25:41

Zombie is indeed American but she's lived in the UK since 1982. In fact, in July she passed the point where she's lived here more than half of her life.

nicename Mon 30-Sep-13 17:26:47

Thank god for that. You just wouldn't be the same with a brummie accent.

I did not know that. I thought you were without nationality and just Zombie-ing around grin

EduCated Mon 30-Sep-13 17:27:32

Glad you're still here and Zombieing. I've missed my daily dose of third person talking.

(And you are bloody indestructible. Like all good zombies)

VanVleck Mon 30-Sep-13 19:21:43

I am so glad to hear that you're well after having a, by anyone's standards, goddamn awful couple of years.
It seems too cruel that you've had to endure an unfaithful h after everything else but it is good to see your strength and dignity has again prevailed.
Much love to you from a random stranger who wishes you a better future than recent past.

BIWIZ Mon 30-Sep-13 19:25:21

Calling MrZombie a fucknugget is a bit unfair to nuggets, I think.

And yes, you must come to the meet up!

Another one who thinks The Zombie is awesome!

mineofuselessinformation Mon 30-Sep-13 20:23:44

Bless you Zombie (not sure that's an appropriate thing to say given you're a zombie though)! I went though very similar, although in my case it was the AP, I asked him back and it dragged on to a bitter end (initiated by me) about five years later.
I like myself more, I'm turning back into the 'old' me despite a few medical hiccups along the way and I'm definitely happier.
Onwards and upwards, as you say.

ExitPursuedByADragon Mon 30-Sep-13 20:23:59

This thread has made my night grin

[Hands Zombie back a few fingers after a rather enthusiastic handshake]

So glad you're back, was just thinking of you today. May you always be as indestructible as your namesake.

IamtheZombie Mon 30-Sep-13 22:15:47

Zombie is just Zombie. She shuffles on one foot in front of the other. Sometimes, she pauses to catch her breath to smell the fresh air and flowers.

Glad to see you back, zombie smile

MNHQ has even put a tribute to you in old threads. There's a picture of you and everything. I think.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 30-Sep-13 22:56:19

So lovely to see you Zombie, been away 3 weeks no bastrids missed me and this is first thread I've seen smile
I remember DZOH posting and thinking how sweet it was sad so sorry he turned out to be unworthy twat.
Hully if Zombie is coming to a Meet-Up I think we're going to need a rather large venue grin

<off to find meet-up thread>

IamtheZombie Mon 30-Sep-13 23:10:30

DZOH has his own issues. Zombie has realised that what he has done has everything to do with those and very little to do with her. She bears him no ill will. He is a badly damaged and lost soul. But, that's his problem and no longer anything to do with Zombie. She will always love him but she will no longer tolerate his behaviour.

LatinForTelly Mon 30-Sep-13 23:16:01

Good to see you, Zombie, and sorry you've had such an utterly shit time.

IamtheZombie Tue 01-Oct-13 17:10:47

Zombie is just back from her monthly visit to her GP. He likes to monitor how she's doing on the antidepressants. He thinks they are working well (as does Zombie) and says that he won't consider taking her off them until she's had a solid block of 3 good months. He thinks that will be in 6 - 9 months time.

Today she also took along a little shopping list of other niggling issues she's not raised before.

The expected news:

She has almost certainly developed IBS. He has prescribed an antispasmodic to be taken 20 minutes before meals and suggested that she look at the low FODMAP diet. She's done so but sooooo many of her favourite foods are on the avoid list that she's not sure about that.

She has had intermittent pain in her right hip for at least 30 years but recently it has become a lot more frequent. She is being referred for X-rays as the first step to identifying what the problem is.

The GOOD news:

Zombie has an amazing crop of moles on her back. As she can't really monitor them on her own she thought it was a good idea to have the GP take a look to see if there was anything to be concerned about. He assured her that what she has is seborrheic keratosis which is 100% benign.

She also qualifies for a free flu jab so will be attending their clinic next week.

There was a medical student observing and she certainly got a variety of conditions all in one package!

Well done Zombie!

Did they offer a diagnosis on the undead-ness wink
IBS is a nightmare, you have my constipated sympathy smile

TiggyD Tue 01-Oct-13 17:21:42

Zombie hopes that no one will mind but she's probably going to keep this thread active for the next few weeks to document her progress in packing up DZOH's belongings, replacing items that will be going with him and generally starting out on her new path in life. She thinks she will find it cathartic.

She's started tonight by ordering a new upright vacuum cleaner which she will collect in a couple of days. She's on the look out for a coffee table and a 2 & 3 seater sofa set.

Ooo, is it a Dyson? I like a good Dyson.

PedlarsSpanner Wed 02-Oct-13 00:02:20

thumbs up Zombie

IamtheZombie Wed 02-Oct-13 00:10:02

No, Ellen. Zombie is a cheapskate. It's the VAX Power 8 Pet U89-P8-P. 2200 watts and £74.99 from Currys.

PedlarsSpanner Wed 02-Oct-13 00:13:58

we have a VAX summat, from the factory shop. tis GREAT, vacuum, click out the bucket thingie, tip the urrrrrrgh stuff in the bin, click back on, job done. ta daaah. was about eighty quid or so.

If you are cheapskate then so am I.

Next best thing, Zombie. grin Great for hoovering up any stray limbs.

IamtheZombie Wed 02-Oct-13 00:23:57

It's mainly cat hair, Ellen. Zombie has 3 shedding monster Zombie cats.

MelodyBaker Wed 02-Oct-13 17:54:26

I'd love a cat Zombie. The dog would not like it though.

IamtheZombie Wed 02-Oct-13 20:51:09

Zombie has always been a cat Zombie. Dogs are OK, but cats are the rulers of the universe. grin

greenhill Wed 02-Oct-13 21:03:58

YY about cats being the rulers of the universe, our vacuum cleaner does sterling work just picking up after one long haired cat, but if I gathered the hair properly, I'm sure I could knit a new cat quite easily. grin

FunnysInLaJardin Wed 02-Oct-13 22:18:20

I love cats too Zombie and have 2. Max and Mini. Max once left home for 2 years and then rocked up again asking for Whiskers. They are brother and sister farm cats and I mostly on the whole love them.

Mintyy Wed 02-Oct-13 22:22:58

Loving a thought of Zombie, with all those flaking bits of bandage and skin, needing a new vacuum cleaner. I am sure even the zombiest of Zombies like to keep a tidy house.

WandaDoff Wed 02-Oct-13 22:27:25

Glad to see you Zombie thanks

Catmint Wed 02-Oct-13 22:28:19

Zombie totally rocks. Well done Zombie.

IamtheZombie Wed 02-Oct-13 23:01:17

The Zombie cats are:

ZombieCatG aka Gemma, ZombieCatT aka Tinkerbelle and ZombieCatM aka Maisie.

Gemma and Tinkerbelle are sisters and Zombie acquired them when they were 10 months old. Tinks was immediately at home but Gemma was beyond shy. For 6 or 7 weeks she hid under / behind furniture and wouldn't let Zombie touch her. One morning Zombie came downstairs very early and was watching the sunrise when she felt a cat rubbing up against her ankles. She assumed it was Tinks, but when she looked down after a couple of minutes realised it was Gemma. For several months more Gemma was only comfortable around Zombie but now she loves everyone.

Maisie was DZOH's family cat. When he moved to DDS and his daughters went their separate ways Maisie went with his younger daughter. Last year she moved into a flat where she couldn't keep a pet so Maisie came to live in DDS.

BitBewildered Wed 02-Oct-13 23:22:38

Glad you're back Zombie! I knew there was something amiss lately. thanks

IamtheZombie Wed 02-Oct-13 23:29:20

Thanks, Bit.

Zombie must say that it's wonderful to be back.

TerrorTerror Wed 02-Oct-13 23:47:30

Zombie has had a lot of curveballs thrown at her in life. So pleased she is thinking positively and doing well. smile thanks

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 03-Oct-13 09:39:33

Morning Zombie, I miss my cats sad, we had to re-home them when we moved into town, they hated it and one kept escaping from our tiny yard - by scaling a 10ft high fence! He used to go in next door's catflap, scoff all their food and duff them up!
They both went to people who keep in touch, the escaper is now best friends with two ducks grin

Hope you enjoy buying all your new stuff.

Fragglewump Thu 03-Oct-13 09:45:28

Zombie rocks...zombies stbxoh sounds like a total wanktank. Good riddance to bad rubbish as my grandma always said!

IamtheZombie Thu 03-Oct-13 10:07:40

Morning all.

Zombie doesn't know what she would do without the ZombieCats. As long as she feeds them regularly, they love her. grin

Zombie is indeed enjoying shopping for new things. It will definitely help make the Zombie Cave all hers again.

Fiderer Thu 03-Oct-13 10:26:28

Love the idea of a ZombieCave grin

FidGirl just passed by and saw I was on MN and asked how's Zombie doing? I think she associates MN with you grin

IamtheZombie Thu 03-Oct-13 10:39:47

Oh, dear. Zombie's not doing much for MN's reputation then is she, Fid? wink

ChestyCoffin Thu 03-Oct-13 10:56:16

Morning zombie

Happy shopping!

SoleSource Thu 03-Oct-13 11:01:07

IamtheZombie Thu 03-Oct-13 11:52:01

Zombie has just ordered a new coffee table!! < excited >

Zombie doesn't think so, Piggy. Apparently it just means we are advancing in age...

Boosterseat Thu 03-Oct-13 15:21:57

Very jealous of your new coffee table Zombie

Mine is ancient, covered in pen from the toddler years and full of chips - not the edible kind angry

Next purchase?

IamtheZombie Thu 03-Oct-13 17:07:22

Nah, Boosterseat, Zombie will just out zombie those pathetic imitations. grin

Boosterseat Thu 03-Oct-13 18:13:26

You are the very best zombie ever

I finally feel safe grin

ScarerStratton Thu 03-Oct-13 18:15:25

MelodyBaker Thu 03-Oct-13 18:52:34

Zombie is truly one brave ladies.
We all know that grin!

I have been playing Plants Vs Zombies on my iPad and thought of this thread.
You may find it cathartic Zombie, obviously the zombies in the game are not your sort of zombies.
I reckon they're more in the league of DZOH, go get zapping him with those peas, watch the limbs fly, all better. grin

<Warning: PvsZ is ridiculously addictive>

IamtheZombie Thu 03-Oct-13 22:20:14

Thanks, Alex. Zombie thinks she has enough addictions at the moment but she'll bear it in mind. wink

LemonMousse Thu 03-Oct-13 22:25:22

Glad you're doing OK Zombie (you don't know me from Adam but you are a MN legend) smile

IamtheZombie Thu 03-Oct-13 22:44:39

Thanks, LemonMousse.

Can someone please explain in words of one syllable why Zombie is a legend? Or what a legend is?

EduCated Fri 04-Oct-13 07:39:34

You is ace.

That enough?

You is ace and does third person.

LemonMousse Fri 04-Oct-13 14:09:33

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 04-Oct-13 14:52:58

Hi, how's the sofa hunting going?

IamtheZombie Fri 04-Oct-13 23:37:46

Evening all.

Thanks for the simple explanation, EduCated.

Laughter is good, Lemon.

Zombie hasn't started that yet, BBB. She's going to go to the shop where she and her late DH got their original 3 piece suite when they bought the house in 1992 to have a look one day next week.

Zombie has had a long, busy and very productive day. She was out running around for 9 hours. Well, the last couple of hours she was actually having a lovely visit with her niece. She collected her new vacuum cleaner and for some bizzare reason she decided it was a good idea to start assembling it about an hour ago. 'Tis all done now but it really could have waited until tomorrow.

She had a really good session with her CMHT lady. Apparently Zombie amazes her. Zombie loves that every session ends with a big hug fest.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 05-Oct-13 09:57:13

Sounds like a brilliant day.

Very well done assembling the vacuum, trouble is now you'll have to use it!

Amazing what a difference a hug makes ((smile))

Are you redecorating to match all your lovely new things?

IamtheZombie Sat 05-Oct-13 23:03:50

Zombie is saving the treat of using the new VAX until tomorrow, BBB. It faces quite a challenge.

Hugs are at the top of the list of Things that make life worth living.

Zombie will probably have the house repainted inside and out next spring/summer. The house needs a fair bit of maintenance. Well, so would you if you were 210+ years old. wink She'll spend the winter doing what she can and then bring in the professionals to do the rest.

Mintyy Sat 05-Oct-13 23:26:58

I imagine folk like you need a good vacuum cleaner, what with all those bits of rag and loose skin and limbs falling off all the time. Hope your new vax is up to the job Zombie dear.

IamtheZombie Sat 05-Oct-13 23:48:15

Very true, Mintyy. Although Zombie must be careful to pick up and reattach the limbs before she vacuums up the rest. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 08-Oct-13 01:28:12

I hope Zombie had a lovely, sunny week-end.

We have some very fragile, life-long friends who came for lunch on Sunday, and we went to to watch the sunset.

Amazing how that view, over the sea, can be so moving.

DameDeepRedBetty Tue 08-Oct-13 01:44:25

I KNEW there was something missing from our day to day waffling on... at first I thought it was Hully, but now I realise it was YOU!!!!

Big hugs through all your rather shitty stuff. xxx Betty.

WandaDoff Tue 08-Oct-13 11:07:10

Hope you were ok with your new vax Zombie

Mine caught fire yesterday & has been banished to the garden shock

It wasn't a new one though, I'd had it fora few years.

IamtheZombie Tue 08-Oct-13 13:25:13

It was indeed a lovely weekend, Bewitched. Zombie loves the sea. Sometimes she wishes she lived nearer to the coast.

Thanks, Betty. That's very kind of you.

EEK, Wanda. Zombie hopes no one was hurt. She lurves her new VAX. Even more so once she figured out how to turn it on... She was absolutely amazed at how much it collected in a very short time. It certainly lives up to its promise about pet hair. <Stares hard at the monster shedding ZombieCats>

Zombie's new coffee table was delivered yesterday. Now she just needs to find somewhere to store it out of the way until DZOH collects his and there's someplace to put it.

IamtheZombie Tue 08-Oct-13 17:15:05

Zombie has sofa brochures... grin

May Zombie sit very comfortably v soon.

Does ZombieCat shed only hair or body parts too? And how does the VAX cope with that? <interested>

IamtheZombie Tue 08-Oct-13 22:22:04

Oh, Zombie is sitting comfortably and will continue to do so, Pacific. It's just that once DZOH collects his furniture she will have space to put in what she wants.

There are 3 ZombieCats. It's mostly hair but they also shed nails. The VAX collected those quite easily as well. Zombie is well impressed.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 10-Oct-13 10:02:57

How is Zombie today?
We have lovely sunshine again but it's much colder suddenly.

I hope you will be able to rearrange your house to suit yourself very soonsmile

LackaDAISYcal Thu 10-Oct-13 10:12:29

Just seen this! I'm glad Zombie is coming out of the other side of a shitty time. Good to see her back

That is all smile

IamtheZombie Thu 10-Oct-13 13:04:11

Afternoon all.

Zombie is well. She has lovely sunshine as well but a bitter wind is blowing. She's been to the hospital for X-rays on her slightly dodgy hip and then on to the GP's Flu Jab clinic this morning. That's her lot of medical excursions for this week.

Thanks, LackaDAISYcal and TanteRose. Zombie is very happy to be back. smile

WetAugust Thu 10-Oct-13 13:07:58

Yay! Zombies are indestructible

QOD Tue 15-Oct-13 18:43:14

Hey zombie, I missed this when I was on holiday, what a nightmare! And more the fool him, when the zombie apocalypse happens, he's now unprotected.
May the teeth of a thousand zombies chomp on his nuts

IamtheZombie Tue 15-Oct-13 19:30:12

Thanks, WetAugust.

Oooh, Zombie hadn't thought of that, QOD. <giggles>

Fiderer Tue 15-Oct-13 19:40:02

Evening Zombie, was thinking of you earlier.

Nowt to do with the darkening afternoons and the soft sweet wet smell of decay and rot in the air.

grin and {{dank hugs}}

Wolfiefan Tue 15-Oct-13 19:44:32

Start a thread with Zombie and demise in the title. Zombies go on forever. It's true.
Serious note. Very sorry for all the awful things you have been through. Brighter skies soon for the one and only fantabulous Zombie.

IamtheZombie Tue 15-Oct-13 21:55:32

Evening, Fid. Zombie loves the smell of autumn. {{hugs}}

Sorry, Wolfiefan. Zombie didn't realise folk would take it the wrong way. Thanks for your good wishes.

IamtheZombie Thu 17-Oct-13 16:05:20

Zombie had an Oncology Clinic appointment this morning. It went very well. A chat, a prod & a poke and she was done. The Clinical Trial team want to see her in 3 months and after that she will probably drop down to 6 or 12 monthly checkups. thlgrin

MrsDeVere Thu 17-Oct-13 17:39:40

Best thing I have read all day

Hurrah, Zombie!

Fiderer Thu 17-Oct-13 17:44:46

IamtheZombie Thu 17-Oct-13 19:44:24

Zombie's day got even better after the clinic. She finally got to meet and have a coffee with the poster formerly known as lissielou. We had a lovely time and Zombie can't wait to do it again.

Is Zombie forming a team?

Did Zombie eat any limb/part of lissielou?

thanks So glad to hear your good news.

IamtheZombie Fri 18-Oct-13 11:35:38

Thanks, BIWI.

It's lovely to see you too, Nagoo.

The whole of MN is Zombie's team, Bewitched. Who's next? Tomorrow possibly Buppy depending on how quickly Twat can load his van and leave.

No, Talc, Zombie left lissielou intact. Zombie does NOT eat her friends.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 18-Oct-13 18:09:37

Well, I hope he cracks on with it then and leaves you in peace.

flowers and ooh look, time for a winesmile

IamtheZombie Fri 18-Oct-13 21:40:48

So does Zombie, Bewitched. Zombie and ZombieNiece have just finished dinner. They're going to relax for the rest of the evening and be up and at it early(ish) in the morning.

IamtheZombie Sat 19-Oct-13 00:59:52

Before Zombie goes to bed, she'd like to share a couple of small world / coincidences from this week with you.

A few days ago, she was looking at the photos of one of her MN/FB friends on Facebook. She noticed that one of her friend's previous profile photos was of her and an Elvis impersonator. When Zombie looked closely at the photo she was dead certain that the Elvis impersonator was another friend of hers. Zombie got her MN friend's permission to send a copy of the photo to the Elvis impersonator who confirmed that it was indeed him. Small World.

This afternoon Zombie had an appointment with her Community Mental Health Team lady. During their wide ranging chat Zombie mentioned that she is due for a new prosthetic breast from the NHS in about 4 months. She also said that she had an appointment to see her surgeon at the end of January and that her lovely Breast Care Nurse also attended these appointments so the timing was perfect. Zombie went straight from this appointment to pick up her niece who is spending the weekend with her. We called into Sainsburys on the way home. Who should spot Zombie and come up to give her a hug but this same Breast Care Nurse! In 2 years, Zombie has never, ever bumped into her outside of the hospital. Coincidence+.

Zombie now bids you all a fond good night.

garlicvampire Sat 19-Oct-13 03:27:31

smile Ah, your zombie vibes are in sync with the universe! Or something.

Wishing you another lovely day tomorrow.

Jacksmania Sat 19-Oct-13 04:55:34

FFS I just about fainted when I saw the thread title shock.

Dear Zombie... <hugs Zombie very tightly>
We need a [hearts] emoticon.

MelodyBaker Sat 19-Oct-13 07:45:57

Morning Zombie, did you meet buppers the other day?
Excellent news from the oncology clinic.
Has Zombie found the right sofa?

Fiderer Sat 19-Oct-13 08:56:52

Morning Zombie, good to hear your niece is staying with you this weekend. Hopefully she won't have to ply you with too many restoratives after TwatH has left.

You'll have more room for your new stuff after though - how's that going?

Much strength to you flowers

IamtheZombie Sat 19-Oct-13 09:17:53

Morning, lovely vipers!

Thanks, garlicvampire.

Sorry, Jacks. <hugs back>

No, Melody. Today is the day Zombie was hoping to be able to see her but TwatH isn't getting here until 11.30ish so there's no way he'll be gone early enough for her to do so. Zombie is still contemplating sofas. She's in no hurry as she has enough armchairs for a while. She also wants to take advantage of the extra space to deep clean the carpets.

Fid, ZombieNiece is a right little whirlwind! While Zombie was unpacking the groceries, ZN attacked the kitchen bombsite and had it all tidied in 10 minutes!! There will be more packing to do this evening but with ZN helping that will be a breeze.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 19-Oct-13 10:42:46

ZN sounds fantastic, how old is she? Good to have her around while Twat is packing up and leaving.
Hope it all goes well and speedily.

tb Sat 19-Oct-13 18:02:27

Pleased to see you're doing so well, Zombie, despite the really shitty time.

MelodyBaker Sat 19-Oct-13 20:24:20

That's a shame Zombie. I'm sofa shopping at the moment - ours have given in. It's definitely my type of shopping!
Dzn sounds great! If she's available, I need the health hazard kitchen bombsite tidying…

IamtheZombie Sun 20-Oct-13 00:08:34

Evening all.

Today went very smoothly but Zombie is absolutely shattered. The further packing will have to wait until morning. We concentrated on cleaning and rearranging the front room and it's fab!

Bewitched, ZN is 31. Poor thing has a very bad case of cystitis and she's still been working her little cotton socks off.

Thanks, tb.

Zombie is in no hurry, Melody. She'd rather take her time and get it right. Sadly, ZN has to be back at work on Monday morning so Zombie is taking her home tomorrow afternoon. It will then be a few weeks before she can come for another weekend to party with Zombie and another mutual friend.

So, Zombie is off to bed. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

MelodyBaker Sun 20-Oct-13 08:15:24

I know the sofas I want Zombie. I'm looking for the cheapest price now.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sun 20-Oct-13 16:43:22

Oh, I had imagined ZN to be a teenager! Sounds like a lovely relationship you have with her, and good for her soldiering on through cystitis.

Must be very soothing to have your own space back unpolluted by his stuff.

I'm hiding on here away from the rugby. I get into trouble because the players I like are not necessarily the most skilled but are the most hunky grin

IamtheZombie Sun 20-Oct-13 22:16:23

Evening. grin

Zombie knows the type of sofas she wants, Melody, it's just a matter of finding them at a reasonable price.

You do know that Zombie is 61, don't you, Bewitched? ZN is the daughter of her late husband's sister who in turn is almost 9 months older that Zombie. The reltionship is indeed lovely and very special.

The main thing Zombie is noticing right now is that the house definitely looks better with less clutter!! When Zombie & ZOH got together and he moved to be with her, he brought a lot of furniture, pictures, everything really. Then a lot of stuff came here from his mum's house after she died. There's probably 5% of all of that still here. But it's all stuff Zombie can pack up and then she and ZOH will meet up for lunch halfway between where they each live so she can return those to him.

Zombie must stress that things between them is perfectly amicable now. What he did was appalling but she bears him no ill will. They are agreed that they both hope they will always be able to be friends.

Other than being extremely tired, she is fine. She's planning a couple of duvet days to recharge her batteries and then set about sorting out the house.

So, that's today's report from ChezZombie! grin

Jacksmania Sun 20-Oct-13 22:51:34

Lovely update Zombie grin
Less clutter is a very good thing. ZombieNiece sounds lovely flowers

Jacksmania Sun 20-Oct-13 22:52:02

I do know other words besides "lovely" hmmblush

IamtheZombie Sun 20-Oct-13 23:27:35

((((( Jacks ))))) Zombie has missed chatting with you. Zombie also uses lovely at lot as well as some other words. She tries to remember to re-read everything closely before posting so that she doesn't sound like a broken record.

HesterShaw Sun 20-Oct-13 23:32:50

<all shy>

<a bit late to everything. As usual>

I knew some of your story Zombie but have never spoken to you.

I think you're fucking awesome. There. Have these ----> thanks from me.

IamtheZombie Sun 20-Oct-13 23:34:40

Aw, thanks, Hester. Zombie is very friendly so please feel free to chat with her anytime.

Jacksmania Sun 20-Oct-13 23:45:32

Zombie is in fact, fucking awesome grin
- and I've missed chatting with you too, Zombie [hearts].
It's been a funny old year - nothing like yours, though. I haven't been on MN much. I've missed a lot, apparently!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 21-Oct-13 00:10:17

You must be a very civilised Zombie to be able to be so forgiving and generous to ZOH. Amicable is indeed very lovely, and rather rare.

Yes I do remember Zombie's age, partly because it's the same as mine smile
Sorry I misunderstood ZN's age, I have teenage nephews and even younger nieces.

Not surprised Zombie is feeling drained. Here's some supplies for the duvet days.

and some bearbearbears to snuggle.

IamtheZombie Mon 21-Oct-13 01:12:37

Well, Jacks, we'll have to do something about the chatting. Give her a couple of days to recharge her batteries and she'll PM you. xx

Bewitched, Zombie has been through the drama and trauma. That's all behind her. Amicable is the only way forward. Anything else leads to madness.

Zombie had no idea we are the same age. Having said that, perhaps your NN does put you in her age range.

Thanks for the supplies and even more for the bear. Zombie needs a good night's sleep tonight, but she suspects she may allow the ZombieCats to come up to bed with her tomorrow night.

Jacksmania Mon 21-Oct-13 01:15:09

<sends Zombie some ZombieSoothingSleepTea and a warm hug>
Off to bed flowers.

IamtheZombie Mon 21-Oct-13 22:49:24

Thanks, Jacks. It worked!

Duvet day went very well. Slept until 10.30. Slobbed around until 4.30. Napped between 4.30 and 6.30. Dinner and TV this evening.

Tomorrow morning she needs to go out for a loaf of bread and a paper. Then she will come home and slob again.

On Wednesday she will get her arse in gear and start moving forward.

Thank you ALL for your love and support. Zombie can't even begin to tell you how much it means to her and has helped her to stay strong.

garlicvampire Mon 21-Oct-13 23:06:11

Duvets, naps & slobbing very good! And you ate dinner, had some entertainment - give Nurse Zombie a hi-five smile x

IamtheZombie Mon 21-Oct-13 23:10:09

londone17 Mon 21-Oct-13 23:44:29

You're brilliant Zombie. Glad you're looking after yourself. Hope you give yourself a well deserved treat every day! If you have a local college near you, they have cheap massages etc.

Jacksmania Tue 22-Oct-13 02:27:09

What a perfect day. I'm so glad for you smile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 22-Oct-13 09:14:33

That sounds fabulous Zombie, well done, exactly what was needed.

IamtheZombie Tue 22-Oct-13 20:11:54

Evening. smile

Thanks, london. Zombie knows a very good massage therapist and is planning to see her next week.

((((( Jacks )))))

It was fab, Bewitched.

Today wasn't quite as slothful as yesterday. Zombie had to pop into town for a loaf of bread and the papers. She did treat herself to a greasy spoon breakfast. But otherwise it was fairly slobby. She's had her dinner and just needs to feed the cats and replenish her wine glass before relaxing for the rest of the evening.

londone17 Tue 22-Oct-13 22:21:48

Pleasure love. Hope you enjoy it and your wine! On Amazon there's a pack of cards, Lynn Gordon 52 ways to pamper yourself. Glad you're making your space your own again.

IamtheZombie Tue 22-Oct-13 23:50:16

Thanks for that, london. Zombie has ordered the cards. grin

Fiderer Wed 23-Oct-13 09:58:54

Good news on the slobbing & pampering front grin

You really are a marvel, lovely Zombie flowers

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 25-Oct-13 08:43:34

How are you Zombie? Feeling refreshed I hope.

I think a greasy spoon breakfast fits with the slobbing perfectly, as long as you didn't make it yourself grin

Any luck on the sofa front?

IamtheZombie Fri 25-Oct-13 18:40:50

Thanks, Fid. thanks

Zombie's been a bit flat this week tbh, Bewitched. Duvet day turned into duvet most of the week so nothing done about sofas yet. Zombie's in no hurry though.

She did get a few things accomplished today. She had an appointment with the GP at 09:30 this morning to get the results of her hip x-ray. The hip looks fine so the GP gave her the necessary information to contact the Physiotherapy people. They took her basic details today and one of the physiotherapists is going to ring her next Friday morning to take a detailed history and plan what happens next.

That was followed by another greasy spoon breakfast and then a trip to Tesco to get food for the weekend.

When she got home she sorted out her car insurance, booked her car in for its MOT and then had a long chat with her best friend in Ireland. The jacket potato is in the Aga, she's cut the rosemary for the chicken breast and will prep the broccoli when the chicken goes in the oven. Dinner and wine at 20:00.

Fiderer Fri 25-Oct-13 19:06:54

<eyes clock>
<ignores time zones>

20:06 of the clock here, young Zombie, and I smell no chicken or rosemary. I do have wine <grudging>

Putting to one side my gripes about the lack of dinner, what's with your hip? Been jiving again?

IamtheZombie Fri 25-Oct-13 19:39:32

Chicken and rosemary have joined the jacket potato in the Aga, Fid. Zombie may start a bit early on the wine.

Zombie has had intermittent pain in her right hip for at least 25 years. It originally only seemed to be in the joint itself and it didn't really happen that often. She had a bad spell about 10 years ago but the osteopath usually sorted it out for 6 months or so. Recently (over the past couple of years) it has increased in frquency, intensity and now spreads into the thigh muscle and lower back / upper butt muscles. Zombie didn't bother with it while she had all the other health issues going on but now that those are behind her she wants to find out what the problem is and sort it out.

Zombie is meeting her jive teacher for breakfast next week. She's not even sure the classes are still going as the teacher is about 35 weeks pregnant. It is something she'd like to go back to but probably not until the spring.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 25-Oct-13 20:27:41

Zombie is very stalwart and her description of a "few" things accomplished in a day matches the same list for a month for some people!
Momentous events take their toll which is easy to underestimate, so well done for taking it easy when you needed to.
Good news that the hip can be managed with physio, I get that upper butt thing too, it's very annoying.
We should have a jive at the meet up!
Or maybe not grin
Your supper sounds lovely, we're having takeaway kebab shock for the first time having lived here for 4 years.
wine santé!

Fiderer Sat 26-Oct-13 11:01:27

Agree Bewitched - my Do To List is cobwebbed.

Blimey Zombie - I was only teasing about jiving grin How cool to have a jive teacher envy

IamtheZombie Sat 26-Oct-13 11:37:11

If Zombie didn't make lists nothing would ever get done, Bewitched. Oddly enough, she's been tinkering with the idea of wearing her jive skirt to the meetup. Saves the anguish of deciding what to wear!

Did you not know that ZOH and she used to go to jive classes, Fid. Zombie had to drop out once she started chemo as she wasn't up to it. But, she's slowly getting her strength and stamina back so watch this space!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sun 27-Oct-13 01:52:44

Oh God I love lists!
Most of mine refer to previous lists that need updating.
Jive skirt sounds gorgeous, I'm guessing ... red? Do you wear it with bobby sox and plimsolls?

Really no need to anguish over what to wear to meet -up. There's long, short, sparkly, not sparkly, jeans, T shirts, hoodies. But it really feels like nobody is noticing anyway - way more important stuff to concentrate on.
who are they rather than what are they wearing.

And are they still upright after 35 sambucca shots grin
< I'll let you in on my spreadshit if you want>

IamtheZombie Mon 28-Oct-13 00:21:42

Not red, Bewitched, light purple with white dots and a very purple underskirt. Zombie wears it with a white blouse, stockings and red shoes (which are comfortable for dancing but not all evening!!). She'll no doubt find something else to wear.

Zombie really can't tell you how much she is looking forward to the meet up. There are so many people coming that she's wanted to meet for a long time.

Spreadshit sounds interesting. Do tell her more. wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 28-Oct-13 09:57:38

grin spreadshit was a typo for spreadsheet ages ago.

Was getting a bit carried away after too much wine.

I couldn't really divulge who keels over/falls off a BorisBike/crawls around in the gutter/throws up on the train home, having consumed said sambucca!

Could I?

IamtheZombie Tue 29-Oct-13 14:18:50

Probably best not to, Bewitched unless you want to PM me.

So Zombie went for her smear test yesterday. Three speculums, two positions and five attempts later the nurse conceded defeat. Zombie's cervix was no where to be found. She goes back tomorrow to see if the other nurse has better luck.

The good news is that the ZombieCar passed its MOT with flying colours today. Zombie met up with a friend for breakfast and a catch up which was really lovely. She's 31 weeks PG and still teaching jive! She and Zombie have promised to meet for coffee at least every fortnight.

killpeppa Tue 29-Oct-13 14:27:06

good luck zombiethanks

IamtheZombie Tue 29-Oct-13 15:02:35

Thanks, killpeppa. Zombie is going to make her own luck from now on. Well, except for winning the lottery of course. That would be down to LUCK. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 29-Oct-13 15:32:05

hahahaha, I think I'll save it for the meet-up, a little guessing game for a quiet moment (fat chance of any of those)

Yikes, hope she finds your cervix tomorrow. I wonder if she could try with you standing up? shockgrin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 31-Oct-13 22:58:29

I saw somewhere that Zombie's cervix has been more co-operative and has succumbed (sp?) to being speculumed (ditto). grin

So, Zombie and ZombieCar are tuned and ready to go.

We've got a full tank of gas.

Half a pack of cigarettes.

It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses ( well, me Raybans are on the sideboard)

IamtheZombie Fri 01-Nov-13 08:49:24

'Tis true, Bewitched. It was tucked well back and way over to one side but she found it. The only question is whether she was able to get a decent sample. Results should be back in 2 weeks.

Have you got a webcam on Zombie and the ZombieCar?? Zombie's eyes are extremely sensitive to light so she does wear sunglasses year round. You're also right about the cigarettes...

Zombie is waiting for the physiotherapist to ring this morning. She has then set herself the goal of getting the kitchen and all the bathrooms completely sorted out. She may be some time.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 01-Nov-13 17:34:47

Haha, no it's a quote from The Blues Brothers.

I didn't have you down as a fellow puffer. I wear sunglasses with no sun sometimes, they're good for hiding behind. I used to like Raybans because they covered up the eye bags - now they just sit on them grin

Ooh, something to six - wine time!

IamtheZombie Fri 01-Nov-13 18:46:24

The Blues Brothers are spying on Zombie????

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 02-Nov-13 16:29:03

They must have heard about Zombie's jiving!

IamtheZombie Sat 02-Nov-13 16:34:11

Well, it is world famous. grin

'Tis very blustery here. Zombie is glad she has the ZombieCats to protect her. ZombieCatT has spent most of the day in her lap.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sun 03-Nov-13 00:15:27

sad I miss my cats. And dogs.

Very blowy here today too and the most amazing downpour at lunchtime, we were cozy in the pub with DS and his bestest.

We spent a couple of hours out in the countryside this morning near where we used to live; very muddy, but lovely.

IamtheZombie Sun 03-Nov-13 21:41:39

Zombie couldn't survive without the ZombieCats.

Zombie has been EXTREMELY productive today. She did 3 loads of washing, emptied, sorted and re-stocked the airing cupboard, sorted a large quantity of clothes into too big, too small and just right and cleaned the lounge and rearranged almost all of the furniture in there.

She. Is. Knackered.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 05-Nov-13 00:13:43

The furniture rearranging sounds fun, the rest, not so much, but satisfying.
My latest excuse for not doing house work is knitting a bloody cardigan requested by the old man 2 years ago. Thin needles, thin wool, arrgghh!
Should have said no way, but have embarked so will finish.
Trouble is, he seems to be growing faster than it is grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 05-Nov-13 00:19:27

Laundry and knitting <sigh>

We'll show'em at the meet-up won't we grin

IamtheZombie Tue 05-Nov-13 09:24:33

Zombie found it all extremely satisfying, Bewitched. Her niece and a couple of friends have offered to help her but she just feels that getting the house back is something she needs to do on her own. It will take longer but there's no rush.

Zombie had a few attempts at knitting in her youth. They weren't terribly successful. Having said that she's been thinking recently that she'd like to try again if only she knew where to start.

Yesterday was Zombie's shopping day out. She didn't buy anything very exciting (except to her!) but all things she needed / wanted.

Today will involve a quick trip to the recycling centre and buying a step ladder.

Do you think anyone else will speak to us at the meet-up if they've read this? grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 05-Nov-13 13:03:24

I didn't knit for years and was inspired to start again by Woolly Hugs.
They tell you which wool and needles to use and give you a colour range, and they only want 6inch squares so you get the practice and finish one quite quickly even if you've lost a bit of speed. They have various projects on the go so you can make a whole baby blanket if you want to.
They're really helpful but there's tutorials on YouTube as well.

Maybe we should go to the meet-up incognito?

Or namechange, you be AnyFucker and I'll be Mitmoo! shockgrin

IamtheZombie Tue 05-Nov-13 14:44:49

Once Zombie has the house at least 80% of the way she wants it (which will take a few months) she may well reward herself by having a go. She needs some new hobbies.

Recycling done and step ladder acquired. Zombie can now reach the light bulbs that need changing (210 yo house with high ceilings on the ground floor!).

Zombie has a load of name badges. She can make up as many as we want! grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 05-Nov-13 19:13:17

Just been reading the "scared of winter" thread, terrible lengths people have to go to to stretch their budget, especially with small children.

Our house is high ceilinged too, and early Victorian, very pretty but very unsound environmentally. Luckily DH gets unlimited wood from work to feed the woodburner.

I hope Zombie is warm and cosy and well insulated, very hard in old house.

Sounds like we have endless badge mischief possibilities!

IamtheZombie Tue 05-Nov-13 20:43:39

Zombie had the roof(s) renewed about 6 years ago. She had them put insulation in while they were at it. That made an incredible difference. The new Aga that was installed 18 months ago also made a difference. She has an open fire in the lounge which hasn't been lit yet this year but probably will be soon! All in all she's about as toasty as she can be.

Zombie's had a most enjoyable evening watching the ZombieCats. She got some catnip spray yesterday and has sprayed some of their toys. They're bouncing off the walls! Highly entertaining. grin

TheDoctrineOfWho Tue 05-Nov-13 20:46:19

I would love a fire!

IamtheZombie Tue 05-Nov-13 21:55:42

Open fires are wonderful, TheDoctrine. Zombie has been known to camp out in the lounge in front of it during extended power cuts. Between that and the Aga (which is oil fired and gravity fed) she was able to keep warm and cook. When she has the first fire of the year, she'll take a picture and post it on here.

TheDoctrineOfWho Tue 05-Nov-13 23:07:37

Aw, thanks, Zombie.

Whenever I go to pubs with fires, I never want to

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 07-Nov-13 09:19:11

Thank goodness the howling wind has dropped.

What else is Zombie planning to do to her house?

IamtheZombie Thu 07-Nov-13 11:53:54

Zombie feels the same way, TheDoctrine.

At this point, Bewitched, Zombie is just concentrating on a major tidy up and deep clean. The poor house really has been badly neglected for the last couple of years. Zombie was so debilitated by the cancer treatments that she was physically unable to do much at all. Also while all of ZOH's furniture and belongings were here it was stuffed to the gills. Now there's space to shift things around so she can do a proper job of it. Most of her pictures are in the basement so she will be bringing those up and re-hanging them.

There are also some repairs / maintenance that she will need to get her friendly builders in to do. She also needs to find someone to deal with the garden.

So, basically that's Zombie sorted with work through the winter. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 08-Nov-13 17:42:10

We're going out the stay in the country for the week-end plus maybe a couple of days, not sure what the wifi is like out there.

Have you got anything nice planned?

IamtheZombie Fri 08-Nov-13 18:27:30

Hope you have a wonderful time, Bewitched. Which general part of the country are you going to?

Zombie had a double sausage and egg mcmuffin meal on the way to collect her new TV unit this morning. It weighs a flaming ton! Well not quite but she had to open the box while it was still in the boot of the car and bring it in piece by piece. She'll assemble it tomorrow. This afternoon she had her hair cut. While she was there, she booked a back, neck and shoulder massage for Tuesday.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 09-Nov-13 00:16:01

A lot of the stuff you're doing sounds like it could strain your back - be careful! [bossy]

It's east of Lewes in the Weald, where we lived for 20 years before we moved to Brighton.

It's to do with our business, so it will be a regular thing and lovely for us.

But, we have to give some people some bad news sad so am a bit apprehensive until that's done.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 09-Nov-13 00:19:28

Oh, and good luck assembling the TV.

Then you just have 2 weeks on the phone to get someone to send you stuff to watch!

IamtheZombie Sat 09-Nov-13 21:20:16

Oh, what a lovely part of the country, Bewitched. Sorry about having to deliver bad news. That's always difficult.

Zombie had a very successful and satisfying day. (And, yes, she was very careful!) The new TV unit is assembled, all equipment is now situated where she wants it to be and the rest of the lounge is clean, tidy and as she wants it. So, that's room number one ticked off the list. Assuming she can move tomorrow, she will start on the kitchen.

She's celebrating with some wine, some TV and the first fire of the season. 'Tis bliss.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sun 10-Nov-13 17:20:28

Yippee, I have cycle powered wifi!

It is really lovely, sunny and cold today, but not windy.

Very weird going to one of our old haunts (pub) for lunch and recognition dawning on people.

We are managing to skirt round the bad news, and the recipients are gradually realising that it's coming, so making the final blow easier.

Well done getting your sitting room sorted, a well deserved celebration.
We're staying in an old windmill with an open fireplace, looking forward to Downton.
Have a day off tomorrow, attack again on Tuesday smile

Santé Zombie!

IamtheZombie Sun 10-Nov-13 23:01:21

YAY to wifi!!

Sounds like a lovely day. How long has it been since you went to that pub?

An old windmill?? Have you checked that Jonathan Creek isn't lurking somewhere? grin Seriously, that sounds absolutely fantastic.

Zombie had a mostly day off day today. She felt OK when she got up but after an hour of clearing things out of the kitchen and doing some washing up so that she can start the deep clean proper her back was really aching. She decided the kitchen would still be there tomorrow and retired to bed with a hot water bottle for a few hours.

She'll see how she feels tomorrow.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 11-Nov-13 15:49:13

I think we were last there about 5 years ago, it's a bit weird that the same old faces are still sitting at the bar. We only ever went a few times a year.

No Jonathan Creek, not that I'd mind. They did film an episode quite nearby though.

Back home now, but we'll be out there most week-ends for a while.

You take care, don't overdo it smile

IamtheZombie Mon 11-Nov-13 21:57:09

Zombie thinks that's one of the nicest things about a real local. You can walk in after years and still know a lot of the people.

Darn. Zombie was going to ask you to send Jonathan her way if you found him.

She won't overdo it. She has learned to listen to her body. She is really looking forward to her massage tomorrow. grin

sanssoleil Mon 11-Nov-13 22:29:07

A proper massage Zombs I am envious and a proper log fire-just wind me up now by talking <cheese> porn wine grin

IamtheZombie Mon 11-Nov-13 22:33:35

It's only neck, back and shoulders, sans. It's on offer and if it's good, Zombie will book a full body massage for next week.

She hopes to go to Ludlow on Friday and visit the market. She'll be ready to talk cheese porn after that. wink

sanssoleil Mon 11-Nov-13 22:38:34

MMmm Cheeese grin go for the full body - I was a new woman! Promise me the cheese porn please smile

IamtheZombie Mon 11-Nov-13 22:44:36

Zombie crosses her heart and hopes to die. You shall have cheese porn. Complete with pictures. grin

sanssoleil Mon 11-Nov-13 22:58:48

Iam complete Zombie <no emoticon does it>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 11-Nov-13 23:33:16

If I find any Jonathans, I'll send them your way grin

And the windmill is about half a mile from the best goat's cheese farm in the world!

sanssoleil Mon 11-Nov-13 23:49:58

I lived next to a goat cheese convent in the mountains near Bibiana in Italy-I read my set texts to the sound of goatbells-the convent had a trestle table with goat cheese fom this morning to five years ago<nostalgia emoticon>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 12-Nov-13 00:00:02

What fabulous memories to have sans, I hope you've got photos.

Laughton Log (horrible name I always thought) is rolled in charcoal dust.

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 00:08:05

strangely Bewitched I have no photos only memories-fast forward twenty years I am a photographer-but the memories are embedded

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 12-Nov-13 00:27:11

It's funny isn't it, photos really only tell other people where we were.

Memories actually tell us who we are.

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 00:33:08

Bewitched that's the reason I don't take myself too seriously.IFYSWIM

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 12-Nov-13 01:02:47

Oh my goodness, I really didn't mean to devalue photography in any way, i hope you didn't think that.
I wish we were having this conversation face to face because I would be able to contradict what I said above.
And you wouldn't think I was a complete twat.

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 01:21:15

Hey no Bewitched I understand.I came to photography relatively 'late' and brought all my life experiences. It was something I never considered I would'do' .I do not think you are being a twat at all.It is so weird to discover that you can do something that you never ever considered.....

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 12-Nov-13 08:18:40

Oh good, thank you.

Lovely to discover that I imagine. Maybe you have other hidden talents. smile

IamtheZombie Tue 12-Nov-13 21:18:28

Zombie had a wonderful back, neck & shoulder massage today. 30 minutes of sheer bliss. She still feels like a blob of jelly.

She also enquired and it's possible to get a full body aromatherapy massage at a good price. She knows what she's doing week after next.

IamtheZombie Tue 12-Nov-13 21:20:16

Oh, and as she was 15 minutes early, she popped into the charity book shop just around the corner and found a copy of The Handknitters Handbook for £2.50. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 12-Nov-13 23:12:37

A bit of spoiling, a good deed, a bargain and a nudge towards reviving a creative skill.
What a very excellent day Zombie flowers and wine

hangsbyathread Tue 12-Nov-13 23:19:19

Glad to see you back Zombie.
I thought you had name changed to blondeshavemorefun or some such name.
Good to see you back on the threads.

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 23:22:10

You Go Gurrls! wine Can I assure Bewitched that I am hoping for no discovery of a 'hidden skill' except perhaps to find sleep!

ViviPru Tue 12-Nov-13 23:24:33

S'been a while Zomb, but even though I've been preoccupied elsewhere for time, had to jump on the thread to say your wit and generosity has always garnered you special fondness from me. Crappy times for you but unsurprisingly met with strength and grace.

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 23:26:15

I luffs knitting Zombie although it gives me terrible backache these days-I hope you have some good wool shops in your parish <?!>

IamtheZombie Tue 12-Nov-13 23:31:09

It was indeed an excellent day, Bewitched.

Zombie will never name change, hangs. She's become extremely attached to this persona. wink

Sleep is good, sans.

Vivi!!! Thank you. Zombie has missed chatting with you. She hopes all is well with you. xxx

IamtheZombie Tue 12-Nov-13 23:32:39

Zombie believes that there are, sans. She's got Shrewsbury, Telford, Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock all within (nearly) spitting distance.

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 23:35:58

<whispers to Zombie> Why don't you have a go at yarnbombing grin

sanssoleil Tue 12-Nov-13 23:39:33

I was being discreet! (for once) you live in an a location throbbing with artisan wool shops grin

IamtheZombie Tue 12-Nov-13 23:57:24

Zombie gave up on discretion yonks ago, sans. grin

IamtheZombie Tue 12-Nov-13 23:57:52

Oh, and throbbing sounds good...

sanssoleil Wed 13-Nov-13 00:14:51

Haha I was about to type thrumming but my RL persona typed throbbing Seriously I knitted people fingerless long mitten/sleeves last year as presents and other people asked me to make them..... very satisfying smile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 13-Nov-13 00:35:11

sanssoleil Thrumming is very good for inducing sleep wink

I want to ask why you are without sun but I won't because I'm trying to be more discreet smile

sanssoleil Wed 13-Nov-13 00:46:30

Because I have no sleep Ggrrr I am VERY indiscreet! Bewitched Sans Soleil is one of my favourite films and I am from a land that has little daytime(!) you are now making me speak all hurdy gurdygrin Unfortunately a few days after this NC I was diagnosed with a severe Vit D deficiency sad and as for thrumming well....are you referring to a bit of nocturnal harp practise?

IamtheZombie Wed 13-Nov-13 00:59:42

"nocturnal harp practise"

Zombie is boggled!!!

sanssoleil Wed 13-Nov-13 01:08:57

I suspected Bewitched was talking dutty! although true fact I can play a mean harpsichord-I am just not Laura Ashley enough for a harp<or fingernailed> glad the massage went well smile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 13-Nov-13 08:57:25

Oi, you two started it with yer thrumming and throbbing!

I will be stealing "nocturnal harp practise" grin

I hope Zombie is having a nice lie-in after such over excitement.

Sorry about your vit.D problem sans, that must be difficult to rectify and quite common in a land with little daytime. I don't think Donavan will be much help.

I hadn't heard of that movie, I think it would put me to sleep after about ten minutes.
Oh, maybe that's why you like it?

IamtheZombie Wed 13-Nov-13 10:54:35

Zombie slept very well and didn't emerge until slightly after 9.00. She's just finishing her 2nd cup of coffee and will then head upstairs to shower and dress. grin

Thumbwitch Wed 13-Nov-13 10:58:51

Hello Zombie, have only just seen this thread despite its longevity.

So sorry to read of all your more recent dramas, I knew about the cancer and bereavement issues but not about your OH's defection, return and re-defection - what an arse! I am glad that you have made peace with the situation though and have your cats and a newly spacious home in which to relax!

Glad you had a good massage - and I had a thought about your hip pain, have you been checked for bursitis? And if so, have they suggested a cortisone shot into the hip bursa? Sounds awful but a friend of mine has had this done and it worked pretty well the first time (less so after that as she has become allergic to the cortisone, sadly!) so I thought I would mention it in case no one else has. smile

Sansoleil - do you take vit D3 supplements? I have been vit D deficient but have been supplementing since I discovered it, 2 years ago (in Australia, as well, but I don't go out in the sun much, it's too feckin hot!). I have been checked a few times since, and apart from when I was a few months pg and it had dropped (baby was stealing it), it's been in normal range since. I take 3000 IU per day (4000 at the moment because I've had bronchitis again but will drop back to 3000 soon).

IamtheZombie Wed 13-Nov-13 18:58:35

Hi, Thumbwitch, and thanks. It's lovely to see you.

Bursitis is highly unlikely. The physios think it may be referred pain from elsewhere in my spine. That makes sense as Zombie has previously seen an osteopath and been totally pain free for at least 6 months after each treatment.

Zombie got some good news today! Her smear result was NORMAL! Also, there's no evidence of infection with either of the 2 strains of HPV likely to cause cervical cancer. grin grin grin

Thumbwitch Wed 13-Nov-13 23:08:30

Hurrah for good news! grin

Good that they've ruled out the bursitis then; has anyone suggested you get a gym ball for stabilising your core muscles and pelvis then? I had one (well I've still got it somewhere but it's in a box that I still haven't unpacked after 4.5y in Australia blush) and it did help with stabilising my desperately pathetically unstable pelvis, which causes me sciatica and referred pain all over the place, and SPD last pg as well.

Or - could you go back to the osteopath?

TheDoctrineOfWho Wed 13-Nov-13 23:19:04

Yay for good news!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 13-Nov-13 23:22:14

Hurrah indeed!
Have no experience so have no sensible, informed help or advice like Thumb has.
However, I know good news when I see it, and I can do celebration.

sanssoleil Wed 13-Nov-13 23:42:27

Lovely to hear your good news Zombie will you go cheese-hunting tomorrow-I need your cheese porn! and as for Bewitched wine and try watching the best film ever made! <thrums to self>

IamtheZombie Thu 14-Nov-13 11:57:44

Thanks for that, Thumbwitch. No, no one has yet suggested that. Zombie just has exercises to do every day. She'll ask the physio the next time she sees her.

Thanks, TheDoctrine.

Oooh, lovely celebration, Bewitched. Thanks!

Cheese hunting will be tomorrow, sans. The cheese van isn't there today.

sanssoleil Thu 14-Nov-13 12:04:32

Last night I thought it was Friday todayblush The wind is howling up a storm here this morning-I hope everyone is OK and warmbrew

IamtheZombie Thu 14-Nov-13 12:22:26

Zombie is always losing track of what day it is, sans. You're in excellent company. grin

It's been very, very blustery here as well. Zombie is very glad she doesn't need to go out today.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 14-Nov-13 17:25:30

Thanks for the wine sans, I've started early tonight after stressy day, and I have a fasting blood test tomorrow so water only after 9 tonightgrin
Bit of lovely news - my eldest got engaged last night and is arriving here tonight (she lives in Portugal)

wine all round.

sanssoleil Thu 14-Nov-13 17:33:03

wine congratulations! We will have to knit you a fancy schmancy hatgrinHope you don't get too hungry tonight<my stomach rumbles in sympathy>

IamtheZombie Thu 14-Nov-13 17:50:54

More wine and congratulations to your eldest!! Have you met her intended?

Good luck with the FBS tomorrow.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 14-Nov-13 20:03:06

Aw, thanks you two, you're so lovely.
I'm cooking up a storm, to be scoffed soon after 8 o'clock so hardly a hardship fast really grin
The main trick will be no wine, which normally wouldn't be a problem much but DD won't be here til gone midnight shock
She and her DF have lived together for 6 years so, yes, we know him really well. They work with horses and come here to teach about every 2 months.

But you do realise that this means I will be a Mother In Law <hahahahah
evil cackle>

I'm really touched that you responded so quickly, it was a lovely, heartwarming surprise.

Hope Zombie is warm and snuggly tonight, brrrrrrrrrrr! bear

IamtheZombie Thu 14-Nov-13 20:41:46

Shall Zombie drink some wine for you, Bewitched? <selfless Zombie>

She is very toasty indeed, thanks. She hopes it won't be quite so bitter tomorrow.

Thumbwitch Fri 15-Nov-13 07:12:24

Ooo congrats on your impending MIL-hood, Bewitched! Hope you don't end up like Endora wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 15-Nov-13 11:19:25

I'm going to be totally unreasonable and demanding at all times! It's all going to be about me me me!

Fat chance, she's been a bridezilla since she was 4 years old!

sanssoleil Fri 15-Nov-13 11:40:22

Hhaha I was a very young stepmum so I was a Mil before I was a biological (?) mum so I could never pull off the role convincinglyenvy Hope you are having a good catch-up and cake cake. This taking a long time to type because I think I have a pringle-shard lodged under my T key <slattern>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 15-Nov-13 15:29:43

They've gone off to prepare for the event they're running for the week-end sad but we'll go and watch on Sunday, hope it's sunny.

Just going to get dressed for a wedding reception tonight, and then we're back over at the windmill tomorrow.

That sounds tricky sans, the MIL bit, not the pringle-shard.

winewinewine << for later wink

Stay warm Zombie.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 15-Nov-13 22:48:49

Well, that was lovely. Very low key, lots of love swilling around.
And they obviously adore each other.

What plans have you lot got for the week-end?
Is this your cheese market Zombie?

Why aren't you coming to the meet up sans?

My 2nd room-mate has dropped out so we have a spare bed.
That may make the prospect worse rather than better grin !

sanssoleil Fri 15-Nov-13 23:04:49

Bewitched bear with, still impeded by rogue pringle shard,Am I being cheeky but do you live in a Windmill?<like the mouse in old Amsterdam>The weekend is a bit of an open book atm. Will be cooking for Refugee Kitchen charity ,proofreading, and colouring my sisters hair! I hope Zombie had a good day and we hear her news wineAs for meet-ups ....I am not too good at doing RLsad but thanks for the promptsmile

IamtheZombie Fri 15-Nov-13 23:47:11

Evening all.

Zombie should have gone to the market today but a couple of emails and early phone calls required her attention. By the time she'd finished sorting everything out it was too late to go. She can't go tomorrow either as she's heading off in one direction at 9.30 to be somewhere for 11.00, leaving there at 12.30 to double back(ish) and be in Shrewsbury at 2.00 for a local MN meet up. Cheese hunt will need to wait until next Friday. Sorry, sans.

sans, do think about the meet up. You know Zombie and Bewitched. Zombie does have lengthy FB chats and phone calls with another MNer who will be there but otherwise she doesn't know anyone.

sanssoleil Fri 15-Nov-13 23:57:24

I feel guilty I pressured you for my cheese porn Zombie I know too well The Triumph of Hope over Experience<disclaimer not a film by Leni Riefenstahl> Thank you for your support, sending y'alls lots of love

IamtheZombie Sat 16-Nov-13 00:02:40

Where do you live, sans? PM Zombie. She has the impression we aren't a million miles from each other She could come meet you for a coffee one day.

sanssoleil Sat 16-Nov-13 00:18:50

smile I would love a trip out .Clever Zombie Will PM tomorrow-need to sort this skankey keyboard out blush xx

IamtheZombie Sat 16-Nov-13 00:40:20

Zombie will be out all day tomorrow, sans, but she will check her inbox as soon as she gets home. xx

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 16-Nov-13 00:42:51

Hope the meet up went well Zombie.
Who was there? How many were there? Did you have cheese? grin

Hope your emails and calls were positive and not draining.

No,sans, I live in quite a boring terraced house in Brighton, but DH/our business has bought into a project that includes a converted windmill, so we are going to spend week-ends there so that we can decide how to develop the project.

But, I did live in Amsterdam for 2 years and we did have mice!

So you're cooking for a Refugee Kitchen Charity, but you're not too good at doing Real Life. That sounds like a bit of a contradiction to me.

Whereabouts do you live? I'm guessing not still in the land of no daylight?

IamtheZombie Sat 16-Nov-13 00:55:40

Meet up is tomorrow, Bewitched.

There's a new member in the FB group who might need your spare bed. Zombie took the liberty of mentioning that you had one.

Emails and phone calls were fine. They just required Zombie's attention. One was sorting out the Sky account. ZOH couldn't just transfer it into her name. He had to cancel his account and then Zombie had to set up her own account to coincide with his notice period ending. It's all good. She even gets a brand spanking new HD+ box! Sky engineer will be here next Thursday afternoon to install it. grin

sanssoleil Sat 16-Nov-13 01:08:25

Bewitched haha no I live in a very big city<much maligned>and I agree it does sound incongruous-but I can just cook and lose myself IYSWIM and it is really humbling<wrong word> and believe me he interface with RL is overwhelming. My Nationality is the land of Scandi-noir and itchy jumpers and pickled herrings etc!We grew up as Euro-Brats but live in England now! The windmill sounds fantastic<paranoid you think I am troll!>

IamtheZombie Sat 16-Nov-13 01:10:31

Oooh, England's second city, sans? Zombie will be there a couple of times over the next month to attend the Christmas market.

sanssoleil Sat 16-Nov-13 01:13:08

haha you auld troll-hunter you!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 16-Nov-13 01:14:25

Oh, sorry, hope meet up is fun then.
Not a liberty at all, thanks for mentioning our spare bed.

My experience of Sky engineers is good. They can be a bit scripted and shmoozy, but that makes them ripe for, winding up if you don't like them, and teasing if you do grin

IamtheZombie Sat 16-Nov-13 01:20:41

Troll hunter?? Not Zombie!

You might want to post in the group, Bewitched.

It may well be the same engineer who originally installed the dish and box. If so, he's lovely.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 16-Nov-13 01:49:51

Apart from the fact that you're/they're all trolls up there in the frozen Scandi Lands, I've never had a moment's doubt about you.

You do, however, seem very familiar, in a very nice way, but I can't figure out who you used to be smile

And I still wish you would come to the meet up. smile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 16-Nov-13 01:55:31

Thanks Zombie, I have posted in the group.
Always find it a bit tricky, want to say stuff to be reassuring, not hairy fuckwit etc, but never sure how much is too much.

sanssoleil Sat 16-Nov-13 01:59:10

hank you<still pringle under T>I was so paranoid! I NC about two months ago because I was angry and frustrated hat MNHQ were rather lax on posters casually throwing around MH diagnoses as insults.I will get back into RL because I am gaining more faith in people and other peoples' experiences really interest me smile

Jacksmania Sat 16-Nov-13 03:16:56

Just popping in to give Zombie a huge ((((((((((*HUG*))))))))) smile

IamtheZombie Sat 16-Nov-13 22:12:57

Bewitched, you hit just the right note with your post.

sans, Zombie understands how you feel. She's been there. But RL can be a great place.

Jacks!! ((((((( HUG ))))))) Zombie will reply to your PM shortly.

Zombie has had a fabulous today. This morning she met MarmaladeBatkins who is delightful. This afternoon she went to a local meet up in Shrewsbury and met several lovely MNers. She and thegreylady got on particularly well and it was actually a bit spooky just how much we have in common.

All in all it was an excellent day. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 16-Nov-13 23:42:23

Thank you Zombie, our new roomie sounds nice.
Your day sounds fantastic, is Bupcakes as much of a hoot as she seems on here? thegreylady is even older than us isn't she? grin She always sounds lovely.
Mners seem to range from 20ish to 70ish, how great is that!

sans, I hope I didn't prompt the paranoia.
I've noticed people have surprising responses to my mentioning the windmill. Do they have a significance that I've missed?

Hi Jacks brew or wine and cake smile

sanssoleil Sun 17-Nov-13 00:10:47

Hello-just popped over from the Strictly spoiler thread! So glad zombie had a good meet-up and soleil thanks her for all the encouragement. I suppose that windmills and lighthouses are symbolic places so quite exciting.I was a lot paranoid yesterday,so was glad you posted me out of my spiral of weirdery. My <industrial> hula-hoop arrived today and it is so big and heavy that I will have to use it in the garden.Greatblush Lucky lucky neighbours and skanky foxes and a shout-out to the police helicopter and pringles to y'all

IamtheZombie Sun 17-Nov-13 00:17:19

It was totally fantastic, Bewitched.

Buppy is lovely and I suspect even more of a hoot. She and her friend were the organisers of the fair (and it was their first) so we only had snatched moments together. Zombie is delighted to report that the fair was a HUGE success. The comments from both stallholders and attendees in their group are all full of praise. We're travelling down to the meet up together and sharing a bed so Zombie will know her a whole lot better after that! grin

Yes, thegreylady is 8 years older than Zombie. She and Zombie have had so many similar experiences in their lives that we both found it a bit spooky but also very nice. Zombie definitely made a new friend today.

IamtheZombie Sun 17-Nov-13 00:19:10

Is your T working now, sans? Zombie is serious about coming to have a coffee with you. And give you a huge hug. Unless, of course, you're a non touchy person.

sanssoleil Sun 17-Nov-13 00:31:37

NO MY T IS NOT WORKINGangry and the problem has extended to my Langry will do a proper techie clean-up tomorrow.I know you are serious zombie you know where I live!<and it is much livelier and bloody real than bloody Soul- less- Hole> haha. hugs are kosher! I am not Royaltygrin glad you are meeting lots of lovely people[vicarious pleasure emoticon]

IamtheZombie Sun 17-Nov-13 00:43:40

Oh, Zombie has spent a lot time in your city, sans. She knows very well just how lively (and lovely) it is.

Zombie needs to go to the top floor to her old office and find her little keyboard duster thingamajig. But in her case it's bits of baccy and ash...

Zombie has been told that she gives very good hugs. She loves hugs. Hugs have to be one of the best things ever.

sanssoleil Sun 17-Nov-13 00:59:32

zombie I hope you get a nice sleep tonight-you have met loads of people today-I would have a really racing mind-I did some translating for my little sister today so I am thinking in another language and it will be a long night unless I break into a valium.I haven't smoked since the year of recurring whoop whoop cough and I miss a sneaky fagsoleil sends hugs from the city of more-canals-than-Venicesmile

Jacksmania Sun 17-Nov-13 03:04:58

Hugs really are wonderful, aren't they. A bad hug is like bad coffee or bad sex, really, why bother grin

Thanks for the wine, Bewitched, I'm currently having some in RL (7 pm here).

Zombie, sounds like a lovely day! I've met up with some wonderful MNers here in my part of the world (Western Canada) although I just about died of nervousness before (what if they don't like me????) but everyone's been fab.
I'd love meet so many more MNers I've chatted with, but the closest I can come to most of them is via FB. Poor substitute, but I'll take what I can get smile

sanssoleil Sun 17-Nov-13 04:14:44

Still awake so sending anotherwine to Jacksmania I saw a relly good film a couple of weeks ago,set in Canada, Monsieur Lazou??smile and<wave>

Jacksmania Sun 17-Nov-13 04:38:25

<hic> fanks for the wine

I haven't heard of it... mind you, I don't have a whole lot of time for films these days!

IamtheZombie Sun 17-Nov-13 12:15:12

Morning! Well, afternoon actually.

soleil, Zombie slept very well, thank you. Nearly 8 hours with just one visit to the loo at some point.

Exactly, Jacks! But almost nothing beats a good hug.

(((((((((((( GROUP HUG ))))))))))))

Jacksmania Sun 17-Nov-13 16:33:56

<basks in "good hug" glow>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 18-Nov-13 00:07:19

So looking forward to meeting Buppy, although I suspect from a distance, I imagine she'll be swamped at the meet up!
I really hope they had a lemon drizzle punching stall at the fair grin

JacksI was really hoping for a minute that you were near the MNer who wants to buy a mansion and turn it into a bandb/mumsnet retreat, but a quick google tells me you're opposite sides, she's in Nova Scotia.

soleil (so much better than sans) how's it going with the hula hoop?
The windmill will be lovely when we've twiddled with it, it's a post mill; they used oxen to turn it to face the wind. Sails are long gone, rather nasty kitchen and bathroom added, and lots of small wooden struts which are distracting from all the old workings which are in place but painted gloss black shock[horror]. So it's been fucked up and we have to try and unfuck it.

I've been thinking about hugs, the only bad ones I can think of are when someone is heading at you for one and you'd rather dive through the window. Some can be a bit reticent, but that can usually be rectified by some judicious squeezing. I do realise that the last two comments are mutually contradictory grin

I do get a bit paranoid about hugging non-smokers and try to do closed mouth mwahs smile

Jacksmania Mon 18-Nov-13 00:23:43

Why? I promise most non-smokers don't bite grin

At least, I don't. And MIL, who is a smoker (but otherwise lovely) seems to have no problem hugging me grin

IamtheZombie Mon 18-Nov-13 00:32:25

Zombie smokes, Bewitched, so have no hesitation in giving proper hugs and MWAHs.

No, Jacks, most don't. But, if you're a non smoker, the smell of smoke (which we smokers no longer smell) can be unpleasant. Sounds like Bewitched and Zombie are just trying to be courteous social outcasts smokers.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 18-Nov-13 01:27:52

Most of my friends are non-smokers and although I know they love me, and don't hold back with hugs, I'm aware that it sometimes might be a bit yuck.

I will not be holding back with Zombie grin

Jacks I have no objection whatsoever to biting, it's recoiling that I'd rather not inspire!

Not quite enough to make me give up though.

[mwah] x

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 18-Nov-13 01:35:18

Zombie needn't worry about the meet-up, most of them are non smokers but actuallyIreallyFancyaFagcanInickoneofYours !

That's why I've asked Porto to bring me some duty frees grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 19-Nov-13 00:19:32

Hope all OK.

IamtheZombie Tue 19-Nov-13 09:31:34

Everything is fine, Bewitched. Zombie was just busy yesterday and then had an early (for her) night. She took a couple of sleepy pills and slept for 10 hours with only 1 loo visit. She feels very refreshed this morning.

She's meeting XZOH for lunch today to return more of his belongings.

Fiderer Tue 19-Nov-13 09:43:42

I love the smell of cigar and pipe smoke, I spooked a cigar man recently by inhaling loudly rather close to him.

And I like all and any hugs, smoky or not.

Hope your lunch goes well, Zombie.

IamtheZombie Tue 19-Nov-13 10:23:26

Thanks, Fid. It will be fine. We're getting along very well.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 19-Nov-13 12:18:01

All sounds good.

Enjoy your lunch smile

IamtheZombie Tue 19-Nov-13 18:40:45

Thanks, Bewitched. Lunch was lovely. Got a couple of more things sorted and he went off with a carful of his things.

The only down side to the day is that Zombie thinks she may be coming down with her first cold in over 2 years. Sneezing, drippy nose and sore throat developing. She's having a lemsip and will go out tomorrow for some lemons so she can herself some proper hot toddies.

TiggyD Tue 19-Nov-13 18:50:54

I think you would benefit from some beautiful music.

Here's some Peter Andre singing a duet with his ex, Jordan. This is the original recording before the sound engineers got to it. He does have a very nice voice. Jordan's singing is possible the most turd shattering noise ever made.

(You can skip to about 1:10)

IamtheZombie Tue 19-Nov-13 19:13:09

OMG, Tiggy!! Zombie has just learned that she does NOT have the flattest most off-key singing voice in the world. Maybe she can get a recording contract.

I read your OP and could actually hear The Eye of the Tiger playing in the background.

Very much hoping 2014 brings nothing but fun times.

IamtheZombie Tue 19-Nov-13 21:31:40

Thanks, Sauce. Zombie had never thought about how appropriate the lyrics were.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 19-Nov-13 23:57:30

Zombie better get with those hot toddies quick.

All previous promises of hug tolerance are off.

I can't do drippy, sneezy hugs.grin

You gotta love that good old Brighton girl, she's my role model.

IamtheZombie Wed 20-Nov-13 00:02:55

Zombie is doing the best she can, Bewitched. Lemsip and straight whisky tonight. Once she gets some lemons tomorrow it will be proper hot toddies. She will be neither sneezy nor drippy by the time of the meet up. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 20-Nov-13 00:47:29

Ach, sod the lemons , stick with the whisky. And a bit of honey for the throat grin

A steam tent with drops of olbas oil speeds it all up too.

So glad your lunch went well and hope you feel better soon.

((((holdingbreath-hugs)))) x

IamtheZombie Wed 20-Nov-13 11:21:48

Zombie really, really likes her hot toddies. She's having a lemsip now and hopes that will reduce the sinus headache and body aches so she can pop into town in a bit. She doesn't really feel like making breakfast so could also hit the greasy spoon.

Thumbwitch Wed 20-Nov-13 11:36:52

My favourite hot toddy went like this:
Grants 50% ABV whisky + Stones ginger wine + lemon juice + some Ribena (blackcurrants also high in vit C and I like it anyway). The extra alcohol used to feel as though it was squirrelling up through the blockages in my nose/sinuses - fab!

But then later I discovered I was wheat and barley intolerant (I'd like to think that explained the spectacular chundering after drinking whisky, but I suspect it was more to do with the actual quantities imbibed...) and so gave up on the whisky, switching to brandy instead. Not quite as good, sadly. And didn't go with the ginger wine either. Or blackcurrant. <sigh>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 20-Nov-13 19:14:20

Aaah, I love whisky mac, try rum Thumb (haha) I don't know about the ginger, but rum and black is a very nostalgic tipple from my youth wink

Zombie should really try the steam/olbas oil, it's brilliant for clearing a stuffed up head, which relieves the headache. Take care that you don't scald your nose though.
Not a good look!

Hope Zombie feels better soon flowers

Thumbwitch Thu 21-Nov-13 02:00:49

Rum is a very good idea, Bewitched, thank you! Dunno why I didn't think of that one before [dim]

Menthol is another good thing to clear stuffed nasal passages - if you can get the crystals and put them on a little charcoal burner, it's MAGIC! But don't get too close (I did this once and I could feel the stuff going right up into my brain, I swear)

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 21-Nov-13 22:19:31

Sod's Law will mean that you now don't get a cold for years, so you won't be able to test efficacy!

sanssoleil Thu 21-Nov-13 22:28:30

I am on team olbas Zombie but know if you have a supressed immune system things are difficult. Can we do anything to help? crap films? just anything or are you ok just lying low for a bit? lots of love

IamtheTimeZombie Thu 21-Nov-13 22:35:49

Spooky, soleil. Zombie has just replied to your PM! Zombie was only immunosuppressed when she was undergoing chemo nearly 2 years ago. She's fine on that front now.

Zombie's cold is quite mild. She was achey a couple of days ago but that has passed. Now it's just needing to blow her nose every hour or so and cough up some gunk on a similar schedule. She's got lots of lovely lemons, Jack Daniels and Manuka Honey so the hot toddies are going down a treat!

Wolfiefan Thu 21-Nov-13 22:42:18

Get well soon lovely zombie!
Hoping the hot toddies work.

IamtheTimeZombie Thu 21-Nov-13 22:45:36

Thanks, Wolfie. They certainly help her not care about the cold. grin

Zombie has just realised that today is the 2nd anniversary of her mastectomy. She wonders if champagne is appropriate...

greenhill Thu 21-Nov-13 22:54:16

I'll raise you a glass of Prosecco zombie , as that's what I'm having, a two year anniversary is great news flowers. Though I know you are also partial to cake and tardis

sanssoleil Thu 21-Nov-13 22:58:33

haha-soleil has been called a witch many times<and memorably by a professor of Theology!>If IT helps, after two days of migraine,Ihave cracked open the Aldi Cava<champagne gives me heartburn>I am such a cheap date! hope you feel better soon-I think we need to collude on a subversive knitting project [cava]

IamtheTimeZombie Thu 21-Nov-13 23:41:38

Cheers, greenhill!

Zombie needs to learn to knit first, soleil.

sanssoleil Thu 21-Nov-13 23:51:09

I will teach knitting<I ironically have taught many nurses to knit who suggested that knitting would be relaxing for me>

Thumbwitch Fri 22-Nov-13 00:24:18

ACKsherly, I get a cold at least 4 times a year at season change. BUT my nose almost never gets bunged up now, not since someone clever told me that if you force yourself to breathe through your nose, your nose has to comply, even if in just one nostril. And since we alternate nostrils when we breathe every few minutes, then each nostril will clear in turn.
I didn't believe this would work but it DOES - if you give in and mouth-breathe, your nose instantly blocks up - but if you force yourself to breathe through your nose, you can. Amazing, huh?!

I shall still have the rum remedy on standby though, just in case wink

Is this subversive enough on the knitting front? grin

sanssoleil Fri 22-Nov-13 00:29:41

Paha I am way more subversive! need to upload some examples of my 'deviency' but you get the driftknit!

Thumbwitch Fri 22-Nov-13 00:52:18

Ooooo! just seen the tardis

sanssoleil Fri 22-Nov-13 01:01:21

So was who was your fav doctor*thumbwitch*? and obvs anyone else awake/different timezoned?

Thumbwitch Fri 22-Nov-13 05:07:23

Sorry sans - had to go and do stuff! my favourite doctor was Tom Baker. and then David Tennant, although I didn't watch all of his because I'd kind of got out of the Dr Who habit by then shock - I know, I know!

Love the tardis emoticon though. It's a shame that soon no one will understand the relevance of the Tardis, as there won't be any of those police boxes left in London, if they haven't all gone already. sad

FeedMeFeederer Fri 22-Nov-13 07:15:07

I taught FidGirl to knit and she's planning on knitting scarves in the Hogwarts house colours and is a foot-long into the first one. We also had a lovely time last weekend knitting tiny bobble-hats for her favourite teddies. Was fun because they don't take long. I suspect her enthusiasm may not last for 4 scarves!

We're on a countdown to tardis day tomorrow. Tennant for me (I wish)

flowers Zombie I order champagne all round grin

Thumbwitch Fri 22-Nov-13 11:50:22

Have you been playing the Google Doctor game? I've played it a few times now blushtardis

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 22-Nov-13 12:15:47

Congratulations on your anniversary Zombie and hope you're feeling better flowers
Don't get all the Dr. Who stuff never did. I wondered if tardis meant fuck off down a black hole grin
One the Brighton MNers is working on crocheted handcuffs! They'd go down a storm in my part of town.

sanssoleil Fri 22-Nov-13 12:44:59

I love the quirkey things that people craft! I hope that Hogwarts scarf grows too<makes me broody to have little people in housesad>
Hope all our toasts have driven theZombie lurgy away

I was only interested in Tom Baker and haven't watched the revived programme although I rated Christopher Ecclestone as an actor and liked Peter Capaldi in the Thick of It

IamtheTimeZombie Fri 22-Nov-13 19:38:37

Gosh. Zombie is delighted to see you've all been playing nicely amongst yourselves. grin

Thanks for that tip, Thumbwitch. Zombie's nose isn't really stuffed up. It's mostly sinus yuck sliding down the back of her throat into her lungs. Cue frequent noseblowing and coughing. The sore throat has buggered off at least. She's still having a lemsip or two during the day and a couple of hot toddies at night. Just as a precaution you understand. wink

Zombie is also counting down to tomorrow night, Feed. She can hardly contain herself.

What do you mean you "don't get all the Dr. Who stuff", Bewitched?? SIOB

The lurgy is rapidly retreating, soleil.

Zombie met a friend for breakfast this morning and then saw her lovely CMHT lady this afternoon. To top a good day off, she's just looked at what music is on BBC4 tonight. It's JOHN DENVER!!!! (Zombie's dirty little secret.) That may well bring the champagne out tonight.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 22-Nov-13 22:26:16

I really mean I just don't get it, I understand what it's about but it just doesn't flick my switch. It even didn't when it started when I was 11, and the only TV I saw was at grandparents as we didn't have TV at home till Moon Landing.
I've read some stuff how could I not on MN and completely accept the idea that it's good entertainment for children. My kids never got into it either and if they had I wouldn't have minded at all.

Maybe a shame that it coincides with the JFK assassination anniversary, which I remember vividly and was riveted by all the speculation.

Oh dear.

John Denver.

I think maybe you should have kept that a real secret. grin

Very glad to hear that Zombie had a good day and is feeling better.

I think there is something to be said for having a hot toddy every night forever, just in case.

sanssoleil Fri 22-Nov-13 22:38:57

As respect to Zombie we need to confess to our guilty pleasures!grin
Just to alienate everyone I watched the BBC4 programme on Bach before.
I was forced to play Annies Song too much as a teen to like JD!

IamtheTimeZombie Fri 22-Nov-13 23:35:48

Zombie moved to the UK in 1984. She didn't enjoy Dr. Who then. None of the last 3 of the Doctors of the original series did anything for her and the whole thing felt really dated. But when it was ressurected in 2005 her godson told her she must watch so she started about half way through the Christopher Ecclestone series and immediately fell in love with it. As soon as the first box set came out she bought it and caught up on what she'd missed. She's seen every episode since.

Zombie also vividly remembers JFK. She was 11. About 2.45 pm the Principal came on the tannoy and announced what had happened. We were old enough to sort of understand the enormity and certainly old enough to be shocked. She's not entirely certain how she feels about the various theories but isn't satisfied that Oswald was a lone nut. She listened to the Radio 2 minute by minute re-telling of the events this evening.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Bach, soleil!

sanssoleil Fri 22-Nov-13 23:50:08

I love a bit of Bach ZombieMy parents were playing poker when JFK died-I was in bed.How things change.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 22-Nov-13 23:58:09

There's something quite special about being turned on to something by a child. An element of seeing it through their eyes as well as one's own.

I can imagine that happening with Dr. Who, but for me it was my son and The Simpsons. We still watch it together and he now appreciates it on all levels. <he's 22 now> grin

I'm not going to start on Kennedy; I was a bit obsessed all through secondary school.

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 00:02:31

How things change indeed, soleil.

Now see, Zombie doesn't get The Simpsons. Or Family Guy.

Zombie's mother and step-father (total opposite of dear to preface both of those) were more than obsessed. They even used a ouija board and passed along the information it gave them (WTF???) to the authorities.

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 00:12:50

HMMm Zombie hyper-religiosity here.I am paranoid by proxy!

Bewitched I watched the Simpsons with the little DDs and it precipitated many interesting conversations!

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 00:20:53

Should Zombie go to bed or have another drink?

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 00:25:29

Another drinkwine retrospectively for Ste Cecelias Day -Patron Saint of Music[hic]

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 00:27:16

That's as good a reason as any, soleil. Thanks!

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 00:32:31

Happy to helpwine[cheese]

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 00:41:33

Can you make do with this until Zombie gets the chance to get to the market, soleil?

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 00:49:30

I am in cheese heavenZombie Praise the cheese Lord! smile

prettybird Sat 23-Nov-13 01:06:31

sansoleil - my mum and dad were playing bridge so they say with me in bed when JFK died. But it was in South Africa. smile

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 01:13:45

I was just two years old * pretty* there is only an hour difference I think? no reason to disbelieve them as my mum was winning! <mortifying for the men> grin

prettybird Sat 23-Nov-13 01:28:33

I'd have been 2 too - just over two and a half to be precise. grin

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 01:45:48

mumsnet Irishtwins pretty!wine

Thumbwitch Sat 23-Nov-13 13:18:17

I was not alive when JFK was assassinated; but I do vividly remember what I was doing when President Sadat of Egypt was assassinated! I think I was just coming into some level of understanding of the Middle East etc. problem, and politics etc, and he seemed like a good bloke who might help things, and then he was killed.

The only other major event I remember is the planes going into the Twin Towers; I was at work and my boss called me to come and see the news. sad

Did someone say cheese? One thing that has made my life in Australia more acceptable is persuading my local supermarket to stock Boursin - there is nothing that comes close to it in its garlicky splendour.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 23-Nov-13 17:02:34

Zombie that cheese link is divinely, droolingly delicious grin

TheDoctrineOfWho Sat 23-Nov-13 17:11:18

Oh no, is Zombie posting about cheese again?

Even posts about cheese are bad for Doctrine's waistline.

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 18:57:34

Evening all.

Zombie is glad that you are all enjoying the cheese. For dinner tonight she is having a selection of cheese, mushroom pate, grapes and crusty sourdough bread that she will heat in the oven for a few minutes. <drools>

She's also going to have a fire tonight as she is chilly despite 4 layers and having the heating on.

Zombie had her new Sky+HD box installed on Thursday. She had managed to lose the card (at least she assumes she lost it as an unopened envelope from Sky had gone missing) so the engineer ordered her a new one.

It arrived yesterday. She duly inserted it and rang Sky to activate it. An hour later it still wasn't working. She pulled it out and realised she'd put it in wrong side up. blush She put it in the right way <always RTFM> and went online to activate it herself. Still didn't work and eventually the error message said it was the wrong card.

Bugger, she thought. The missing envelope must have been something else and this was the original card (which would have been cancelled as soon as the engineer ordered the new one). So she resigns herself to waiting for the replacement card to arrive. She could still get BBC1 HD so Dr. Who was safe.

This evening she idly selected on the channels that needed the card to work and hey PRESTO it's working!!

<except that the frigging cold or something is back with a vengence>

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 20:41:01

Evening All<Dixon of Dock Green>
First Newsflash that enthralled me was The Seige of The Iranian Embassy-I had an Iranian boyfriend and was learning Farsi at the time.
Black pepper Boursin is the dog's cojones for me-really lipstingingly good!
Hope Zombie enjoying Who-fest and will make a good recovery wine
I am pretty bored with the tv so may listen to my new Pink Martini album

prettybird Sat 23-Nov-13 21:32:10

Hope Zombie enjoyed Doctor Who. Does Zombie also enjoy bitching about Strictly? grin

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 21:44:32

pretty I have bitched all night about strictly and am watching the spoiler threads from half-ten onwards<ex dancer although not ballroom>
I love Craig's consistent judging and hope he kneecapped Darcey under the table with his crutch!
HopeZombie is warm and enjoying hot toddy

Thumbwitch Sat 23-Nov-13 21:51:42

I will be watching the Dr Who show tonight at 7:30. I was not aware, and wouldn't have got up for it if I had been, that it was on at 6:50am, in the simultaneous worldwide transmission event (HOW good is Dr Who that they managed to get that sorted? 75 countries, apparently, across the world, all transmitting it at the same time grin). I look forward to seeing it tonight smile

prettybird Sat 23-Nov-13 22:00:48

sansoleil - if you're on Facebook, you can PM me and join in the BitchPod Strictly sessions. We're currently sidetracking into a WhoPod session.

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 22:09:31

Now that might just tempt me onto facebook prettygrin

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 22:23:48

Zombie was very much enjoying Dr. Who. Then one of her stepdaughters rang. Good thing Zombie was recording it as well as watching it. She'll rewatch the entire programme tomorrow.

Strictly has lost most of its appeal for Zombie, prettybird. She now only tends to watch the semi-final and final.

Zombie is now nice and toasty soleil. The fire has been roaring for a few hours. She's on the straight whisky tonight and will probably try to have an early night. For Zombie that means before midnight!

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 22:24:39

Oh, yes, FB. Zombie has accepted your friend request, prettybird.

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 22:33:26

I love my stepdaughters dearly but they do tend to phone all manner of weird, random and time-zone incongruent times.Bless themgrin

prettybird Sat 23-Nov-13 22:41:07

Not sue which I enjoy more now Zombie - the BitchPod or Strictly.

Actually, I do know: the BitchPod. The bitching constructive commentary is great fun grin

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 22:49:25

I have become so deluded that I think I am a way way better judge than yah yah Darcey! does this make me a good fit for Bitchpod?

And don't get me on Sophie's inappropriate hair spoiling her'line' !!<bitchface>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 23-Nov-13 23:02:46

Nah sorry Zombie, I think you just want an excuse to keep glugging the whisky, envy I would suffer horribly the next day if I did that.

Cheese isn't the best thing for a cold, but I wouldn't take my own advice on that one grin

Really chilly night here too but watched To Rome With Love and really liked it, very funny, Woody Allen usually leaves me cold, haha. And Rome is just fabulous.

IamtheTimeZombie Sat 23-Nov-13 23:11:55

Zombie is being very careful to maintain a good relationship with her step-daughter. Oddly enough, this is the one she thought would be delighted to kick her into touch and the one she thought would keep in touch hasn't said a peep. Ah, well.

Zombie will have a read of the BitchPod, prettybird. She'll join in when she has something witty to say appropriate.

Bewitched, you know Zombie too well. shock You're right about the cheese, dairy increases mucus production, but she really fancied it. She's got an Olbas inhaler and Benylin Mucus cough stuff so hopes she'll get away with it.

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 23:15:28

I watch Roma<fellini> over and over again also Roma una Citta Aperta so will def try to watch the Woody Allen<went off him years ago>
You are right dairy is really bad for colds and whisky quite sickley

Steam Steam Steam

Buona Notte a Tutti

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 23-Nov-13 23:39:13

Ciao Sole!

Oh well, the olbas will cancel out the cheese and will whisky will mean you don't care anyway grin

I've heard Benylin and vodka is nice!?

One of the things that continues to amaze me is how surprising people can be, good and disappointing in equal measure.

sanssoleil Sat 23-Nov-13 23:48:22

Ciao Bella! I need to get over my disapproval of Woody Allen,Roman Polanski etc.
Hope everyone has a good sleep and good day tomorrowsmile

IamtheTimeZombie Sun 24-Nov-13 15:24:03

Zombie nearly slept the clock around last night. She thinks she's feeling a bit better today. At least she isn't sneezing and her nose has slowed down.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sun 24-Nov-13 19:21:29

Wow, it's years since I've done that. Always find it very disorientating.

Maybe the whisky?

And won't it throw you all out of kilter sleeping tonight?

More whisky I guess!

Nonononono grin

IamtheTimeZombie Sun 24-Nov-13 19:42:35

Zombie should be OK tonight, Bewitched. She refrained from slipping up for a wee nap earlier so should be ready for bed at a reasonable time. She's leaving the whisky alone tonight. Naughty whisky. wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 25-Nov-13 01:05:42

Hope you're snoozing nicely now then.
Just looked at the meet-up page, everyone seems to pitch up in the evening which is when I do a bit of RL interaction sad

soleil very frustrating and confusing when people are talented, charismatic and fascinating, and also utter shits!
Worse face to face though.

IamtheZombie Mon 25-Nov-13 11:31:58

Zombie was indeed snoozing very nicely at 01:05, Bewitched. She snoozed through until about 08:45. So far she's feeling quite chipper today. grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 25-Nov-13 12:25:40

Well, chipper is certainly better than dripper!

Off out for lunch with an old friend, might just look for something new to wear on Saturday ... squeeeeee!

sanssoleil Mon 25-Nov-13 14:40:06

I fell on my arse<jeffing slippy leaves> and dislocated my bad knee<again>
I could do with an injection of chippery Zombie!

I could do with some new clothes Bewitched caught fright of myself and I look like Helena B-Carter<the low rent version>

I need to grow up and look effortlessly chic<with a knee-brace>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 25-Nov-13 17:16:37

soleil sweetheart, you poor thing sad did you have to go to A and E?
I'd go straight for Zombie's whisky if I were you!

Didn't buy anything. Don't want to grow up but would love to look effortlessly, artistically tousled like H B-C. I don't/can't, ever!

wineflowers[grapes]cake[cheese] hope it doesn't hurt too much.

sanssoleil Mon 25-Nov-13 17:37:27

Bewitched can you believe I injured myself on the way to<insert profanity> Mass?

Neighbour is a doctor and his wife was Physio-so I bypassed the joy that is my local A&E-pretty used to sport/dance injuries in my lost youth so have all the necessary braces/splints grin

Zombies whiskey is safe as I am a very cheapdate these days<Lidl Cava>

I do need to buy some grown-up clothes though-The DM did a bit of a hatchetjob on H B-C a few months back and my lovely sister and a friend pointed out that she had been playing dress-up in my wardrobeblush-They were not wrong

Thanks for all the virtual gifts and did you get anything nice?

insummeritreinsdeer Mon 25-Nov-13 17:45:01

I've not been here very long so am not really aware of you, Zombie. That is such a bloody lot to go through though and your post remained upbeat despite the bad news. You are clearly a legend. flowers

IamtheZombie Mon 25-Nov-13 18:54:57

Hope you enjoyed your lunch, Bewitched, even if there was a retail therapy FAIL.

((((( soleil ))))) You poor thing. Take care of your poorly knee.

Hi, insummer! Welcome and thank you for your kind comment. Zombie had her moments but now she's looking forward to an exciting new future.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 25-Nov-13 19:28:16

soleil couldn't you have just gone to Mass and prayed for a miracle?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
The fact that the DM hatchets H B-c just confirms m view that she's fab wink
No, was very restrained, volumising hairdryer doesn't count 'cos I can't wear it

Nice to meet you*insummer*, Zombie is indeed a legend, and I'm going to meet her on Saturday <<shivers>> grin

sanssoleil Mon 25-Nov-13 19:52:46

I might name-change now to OurLadyoftheSlipperyLeaves .Thanks y'all for the love and Zombie hugs

True Miracles happen in the heart's of people,as well you know, Bewitched wine
However anyone who has a shopping list of desires PM me and I will light candles<I have naff all to do now>

Hope you are all looking forward to your meet-up

Waves to insummer I lurked for a year before I postedblush

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Mon 25-Nov-13 23:30:11

Wow, did you mean those commas to be so potentially ambiguous grin

I just wrote a reply and realised, just in time, that I had completely misread you.

I keep wanting to ask who you are.

Thumbwitch Tue 26-Nov-13 13:42:17

Is your knee feeling any better now, Sans?

Sounds like you had a good sleep then Zombie - certainly better than I did!

DS2 decided that he would like to be up and doing at 5:50am today. I don't do that time of day/night. So we had a disagreement about it (he's 13mo) which I, naturally, won in the end but only after he'd been shouting in the cot for 45mins. He's so different from DS1 - he would usually sleep through until about 8am, 7:30 at the earliest! <sigh>

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Tue 26-Nov-13 23:16:28

Goodnight ((( Zombie ))) smile

sanssoleil Wed 27-Nov-13 00:12:24

I am wide awake and can tell it is going to be a loooonnng night journey into day-so wishing everyone else on thread a nice sleep/good day depending on time zone.

Hope Zombie is on mend

I am seriously not anyone-else but me Bewitched!

Knee is less swollen today, thanks, thumb and I have ordered an orthopaedic mattress<grown-up> but cut my fringe<not very grown-up>

Really don't like my new adverts on mnsad

Jacksmania Wed 27-Nov-13 07:03:36

It's the middle of the night here and I can't sleep (typical, bloody insomnia), just popping in to spread sleepy-dust, let's hope it helps!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 27-Nov-13 10:09:25

I only mean like a previous NN soleil, you just seem familiar smile
How's your knee?

Morning Zombs!

IamtheZombie Wed 27-Nov-13 11:07:24

Zombie hopes everyone is well today.

She's had a couple of lazyish days and long nights' sleep. She appears to now just have the aftermath of the cold - mucousy sinuses draining into her chest overnight so the first half an hour after she gets up there's a fair amount of nose-blowing, coughing and spluttering. Otherwise she's feeling pretty good.

She's off to do some shopping today for her Christmas Appeal recipient. Should be great fun!

sanssoleil Wed 27-Nov-13 21:42:12

Sorry everybody bit I haven't been able to PM on this thread for a few days<unless you have all blocked mesad>

Anyway I tried!

Hope we all get some sleep

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 27-Nov-13 22:24:23

Why would any of us block you?

I think you're fab, which is why I wish you were coming to the meet up.

As I might have mentioned smile

It's not too late.

Even if I have to smuggle you in the back door under Zombie's radar.

She's a stickler for procedure y'know grin

sanssoleil Wed 27-Nov-13 22:46:50

Haha-Its just a problem on this thread!

Although at one point,I did think MNHQs were ignoring my 'heads-up' on people indulging in libelly gossip<they weren't,so on there own heads be it> and, that is not offending postersangry

I NCd because I got sick of certain goady posters using mental illness diagnoses as to-go-to insults

Anyway-I had another filmtype name that probably sounds as dire as this film if you google it grin

Would be lovely to meet you all one daywine

Hope we all stay in touch

IamtheZombie Wed 27-Nov-13 22:50:29

Bewitched, Zombie is getting a wee bit nervous about how well you appear to know her. wink

soleil, have you tried going to your messages and replying to Zombie's last PM? She's happy to pass a message on to Bewitched until whatever is acting up gets sorted. grin

sanssoleil Wed 27-Nov-13 23:05:25

Thanks Zombie I did think of that but didn't want to be cheekyblush

It is going to be really boring for her though!

I don't think I ever posted anything profound/maybe my Marxist views on Public School educated girls in this lovely City.....

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 27-Nov-13 23:18:11

Gosh, sounds like it's all getting a bit complicated!

I don't think I will ever get used to the idea that some people use forums like this to pursue and hassle anyone, particularly anyone vulnerable.
I'm really sorry you've experienced that soleil, not sure whether you are vulnerable or you are fighting the corner of someone who is, either way, it's unforgivable.

Zombie doesn't need to be nervous. We have chatted quite a bit one way or another for the last few weeks. She can rest assured that after a few wines I will forget everything grin

sanssoleil Wed 27-Nov-13 23:31:32

We have all fallen off the paranoid tree ce soirwine

what is occurringsmile?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Wed 27-Nov-13 23:35:50

Do you mean we are paranoid? Or we were and now we're not? grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 28-Nov-13 01:04:08

I've PMed you soleil* but the bloody thing won't send!

I'm going to try once more but I need to crash, so if it doesn't work I'll try again in the morning smile

Flinkin' Zombie threads!

sanssoleil Thu 28-Nov-13 01:13:28

I got one PM

Lucky people who shleep ehenvy

Definitely this Zombie thread I have tried to reply to Zombie and it won't send from inboxangry

Maybe we are subversives and seditious and ist verboten to associate?

I am definitely having really crap adverts too

IamtheZombie Thu 28-Nov-13 07:55:09

Zombie has just sent PMs to Bewitched and soleil via Message poster. It seems to be working for her.

Perhaps Zombie has special powers of which she was previously unaware.

IamtheZombie Thu 28-Nov-13 08:01:02

soleil, Zombie has just reported your first post where you said you couldn't PM from here and asked MNHQ to take a look and see if they can identify the problem.

Fiderer Thu 28-Nov-13 08:32:00

Glad to hear you're feeling better Zombie and sorry to read about all the insomnia and paranoia, must be because your Zombie powers were affected by the lurgy.

If you're up to it, can you beam a few powers this way? ExH is arriving in 2 hours and will stay till Sunday. Neighbours (rightly) complained about overgrown hedges/brambles/damage to their sheds etc. and I got a quote for it which exH refused to pay half of because he said it was too much. Agree that the guy overcharges, but no one else available and us paying half each would have been OK imo.

So he's coming as it's a hol today. His partner will come on Saturday and stay overnight as they're doing Christmassy parties with the children & gps. FidGirl's excited esp as he's taking her to see the new Hunger Games film in English tomorrow night. FidBoy2 is unsettled and may stay away as much as he can to avoid seeing his dad.

I have gin but fortitude and calming vibes would help. I feel so on edge when he's here, even for an hour, let alone 4 days.

Fiderer Thu 28-Nov-13 08:33:22

Happy Thanksgiving - I forgot to say! Must go and see if Tee was successful with her lobbying for a turkey.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 28-Nov-13 11:07:31

Got Zombie's PM this morning, have only just logged on.

Only two more sleeps till Saturday!

Sending calm and fortitude for Fiderer and more gin just in case smile

Happy Thanksgiving everyone flowers

sanssoleil Thu 28-Nov-13 11:18:52

I have 'gone off' gin Fiderer and have an unopened bottle you can have!

Happy Channukah

Happy Thanksgiving

And tomorrow we shop <*Black Friday*>

AmyMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 28-Nov-13 15:50:22

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your report.

Are some of you still having problems with the message poster button not working?

IamtheZombie Thu 28-Nov-13 16:09:14

Thanks for looking into this, Amy.

sanssoleil Thu 28-Nov-13 16:13:16

Hey Amy,I can't use the message poster button on this thread<even to you>

Although it is not a problem on other threads<not that I am a prolific pestering PMmer>

Thank you

AmyMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 28-Nov-13 17:18:41

Hello again,

No problem Zombie

We've passed this along to tech, so hopefully they'll be able to work out which gremlins have got into this thread!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Thu 28-Nov-13 17:30:21

Wow, Zombie gets good service from HQ!

How did the shopping go?

Fiderer Thu 28-Nov-13 18:31:02

Thanks Bewitched (love that song) and sanssoleil for the virtual gin and fortitude thoughts.
FidBoy2 did stay away but FidGirl is chattering away to her dad in the kitchen. I pretended I'd eaten earlier so they can have dinner alone and speak German.

Fiderer Thu 28-Nov-13 18:44:45

God sorry to hijack your thread Zombie

sanssoleil Thu 28-Nov-13 18:52:16

Things sound stressful Fiderersad

You will have to raid the fridge and get something to eat

I can't imagine the Hunger Games is substantively better in English than German!

Hope all the jobs getting done

I am dreading the delivery of my new mattress tomorrow<hate to admit but my/any ex would be useful>

But that thought should probably filed under the Triumph of Hope over Experience delusional states
my[gin] to you

Fiderer Thu 28-Nov-13 20:05:26

Sorry I'm not near enough to offer at the very least a skinny teen to help with your mattress.
Thanks again for the good wishes - it's been an odd day.

IamtheZombie Thu 28-Nov-13 23:37:05

Zombie apologises for neglecting you all today. It was an early start and a busy day.

Fid, there is no hijacking of any of Zombie's threads. This is the public version of The Dustbin™ and we all support each other.

Zombie may not be around much until Sunday night. Tomorrow is another busy day and she's off to the London meet up on Saturday.

She loves you all and will be thinking of you. xxx

sanssoleil Thu 28-Nov-13 23:46:53

Big love to Zombie

Thanks for skinny teen offer Fid

Still no PM function

Jacksmania Fri 29-Nov-13 00:26:07

Fid, good luck with ex and all that. I don't know all your story but I take it you live in Germland? Having been born to German parents, I sympathise. grin blush

Zombie, have a blast at the meet-up. Some day maybe I'll get to meet some of you smile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 29-Nov-13 00:56:54

Fid well done so far, nearly half way now smile[moregin]flowers
[calming vibes]

Jacks you're forgiven for not coming to the meet-up, it is a bit of a trek for you grin

Zombie I hope it's all good busy. Really looking forward to meeting you <checks time> tomorrow!

Soleil sorry you're still having trouble with your buttons, I'll report again.
Mattress delivery people should put it where you want, and may even unpack for you. You can say you insist on them removing packaging on environmental grounds.

Fiderer Fri 29-Nov-13 05:45:04

Ooh the meet-up envy Send us drunken messages and photos <wheedle>

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Zombie.

thanks for the support, all. There is much rejoicing in FidTowers this morning as my lovely mum has sent me money for flights home for Christmas and I have just booked them grin The children are at their dad's this year but straight after, we're UK bound.

That and the gin should get me through the next 3 days.

It's funny about the film language, it doesn't bother the boys but FidGirl and I are v fussy. Couldn't possibly watch something so very English like Harry Potter or James Bond in German. Or something she's interested in, like the HG which she's read in English.

More flowers and rejoicing.

Yay for wonderful mums smile

I find subtitled films hilarious when I speak both languages. Listening to a mahooosive long dialogue between two characters, and then seeing the subtitle say something short and inaccurate makes me gringringrin

re subtitled films-Me and my sister miss what is going on half of the time as we argue with the subtitles

'No ,that's not what she said/meant'

'That is a blatant 'false friend''

And just don't mention the American idiomatic speech in many early twentieth century foreign films[angy]

It has got to the sad stage where we gaffer-tape the bottom four inches of the tv screenblush

Good Morning everyone!

I think I was conveying my feelings about the Hunger Games Fid

Iwas never very good at taking my girls to movies<bad parent in that respect>but I understand your point and glad of your good news this morning

The mattress-man has text me Bewitched and he is going to bring it upstairs
