Funmum05 Sat 19-Jan-13 00:36:24

Hi, I'm over from the dark side grin Although I've managed to set up again over there grin I'm thinking of doing up an Irish chat site for us exrc seeing as thats what I used to do before becoming a mum to 4 smile

no2way Sat 19-Jan-13 01:03:40

Let me know if you do that funmum

lippi Sat 19-Jan-13 13:47:32

lolaflores Sat 19-Jan-13 13:52:35

Are ye well? Hello. I'm up for any craic available. who are you all and what is the dark side?
I await developments.

annh Sat 19-Jan-13 14:08:23

So what has happened on the Irish site?

cacamilis Sat 19-Jan-13 14:22:43

So glad to find you ladies,is this where we are now chatting or in the chat forum. Deede

Fakebook Sat 19-Jan-13 14:24:39

hmm.

AreYouADurtBirdOrALadyBird Sat 19-Jan-13 14:39:12

My thoughts exactly fake

I thought you lot were posting on the dark side, the site set up after you were all banned before?

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 14:54:51

We are indeed but we are very choosy about who we let in!! ;)

AppleCatchers Sat 19-Jan-13 15:05:19

Was banned myself from there yonks ago and I have to say I prefer it here.To much nit picking over there.

Cortana Sat 19-Jan-13 15:12:11

The one in chat has been deleted again for being a thread about a thread about another forum about a thread.

Maybe since this is a new forum to everyone from RC a fresh start might be in order?

cacamilis Sat 19-Jan-13 15:12:21

Feeling confused whats fake? Where are we exRcers posting now??

crje Sat 19-Jan-13 15:26:21

yabu

Mortified for ye .
Ye are making fools of yourselves - back to DYK with ye sad

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 15:48:21

Thanks crje ;)

Fakebook Sat 19-Jan-13 16:54:52

That's not a confused face. That's a "hmm" face. As in "raised eyebrow, wtf" face.

Can you tell I hate attention seekers?

Sariah Sat 19-Jan-13 16:59:08

"Scarleh for your ma's for havin' yas " I am

Pandemoniaa Sat 19-Jan-13 17:03:59

I'm with you there, Fake.
hmm

AreYouADurtBirdOrALadyBird Sat 19-Jan-13 17:12:01

Drama llamas.

corkgirlindublin Sat 19-Jan-13 17:24:21

As an Irish poster I'm a bit blush at this carry on. It really doesn't reflect well on any of you. This is a great site - maybe leave the immature pettiness where you came from and start fresh here instead of being the squabbles over!

cacamilis Sat 19-Jan-13 17:36:47

I think we came here to leave the drama behind, I presume the idea of this thread is a bit of a rollcall to see who we "know".

I like this straight talking and am looking forward to more of it!!

AreYouADurtBirdOrALadyBird Sat 19-Jan-13 17:46:24

Well the op certainly didn't. She started a shit stirring thread last night berating posters on the other site.

lolaflores Sat 19-Jan-13 17:48:17

Thinking of name changing to Uchtair Reoite seeing as we have a caca milis. If I spelt that right. which I am sure I didn't as I spectactularly failed both inter and leaving cert Irish.
Enough pettiness going on here to embarras a swathe of the population not just the Irish ones Corcaigh so as long as they sort of behave I am sure we shall all survive.

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 18:29:50

It was great to get a few things off my chest smile

You do have to laugh, can't live with us, can't live without us... quite flattered really ;)

Now can I respectfully suggest that anyone wishing to cause trouble just bog off back whence they came from, plenty of scope for passive aggression there.

Now, who's who, so we can catch up!

rainbow2000 Sat 19-Jan-13 18:31:32

So who is who from rc.Im marti101

Pandemoniaa Sat 19-Jan-13 18:34:12

Now, who's who, so we can catch up!

I don't know who any of you are nor anything about where you came from but I'd respectfully suggest it might be an idea to accept that you've joined a new site where what went on before is neither interesting or relevant to here?

It's not good form anywhere to arrive, like an invading party, and start threads slagging off other forums regardless of how badly you perceive you've been treated. At the moment your threads are coming across like attention seeking missiles.

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 18:38:15

Grateful for your advice Pandemoniaa.

Hey marti! smile It's been a while, how are the boys?

therealmccoy Sat 19-Jan-13 18:40:13

so this is where you are all at, I have been over on Rollercoaster on my own, I was left with all the dimwits over there.

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 18:43:10

Thanks for your interest Fakebook.

therealmccoy Sat 19-Jan-13 18:43:44

fakebook lots of people were banned on Rollercoaster for no reason, this is happening so much. The admin just ban and no explanation, we have reason to be annoyed.

Pandemoniaa Sat 19-Jan-13 18:44:34

And stop the fucking 'lol'ing' too, please!

If you could only bear to spend a tiny bit of time getting to know this place and less of it having Old Home Week we might all get the chance to enjoy your company rather than being deeply irritated by it!

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 18:46:42

Ahh leave them alone you miseries...it's not like they're spamming the board! grin

I'm sure they'll settle in soon.

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 18:48:06

Oh and I've been here nearly 2 years and still like a good LOL now and then wink

therealmccoy Sat 19-Jan-13 18:49:50

it's not very welcoming here, might go back to Rollercoaster lol only joking, sorry for going on. I'm just annoyed with the arsehole of admin on Rollercoaster for banning so many good posters.

Pandemoniaa Sat 19-Jan-13 18:52:49

You rebel, Worra I'll just bet you are lolling away like a good 'un right this minute!
grin

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 18:54:36

I almost mustered up a ROFL too! grin

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 18:57:14

Can I respectfully suggest then Pandemoniaa that you simply stop reading this thread if it's upsetting you so badly?

I fucking like lol'ing. LOL.

It's pretty short-sighted therealmccoy but it's not a place I would want to be now. Let them have it.

I do Worra, vicious typist me!

StickEmUp Sat 19-Jan-13 19:17:58

Ive been typed to death
<Cries>
I think here, we call it flaming.
<lol, but quietly>

irlouise13 Sat 19-Jan-13 19:27:03

Well I was louise13 on the dark side. Banned for being disruptive - asked how/what that meant, response was 'our decision is final'. Anyhoo, agree with cacamilis, I've had enough of that playground shite - looking forward to more bluntness and less loling and hugs

Arthurfowlersallotment Sat 19-Jan-13 19:27:34

ROFL @ worra. Omg hun ur so funni.

Anyway lads, MN isn't like RC. (But AIBU isn't the place for this thread.)
For one there's no novena thread here. In my opinion we could use one. <fumbles rosary beads>

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 19:35:31

Hi Louise13, I was probably gone before your time but that's exactly how things work round there. Place will be the poorer without - I still read sometimes but you're better off somewhere like here where intelligent discussion/debate is actually possible!

Best of luck with the baby.

RowanMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 19-Jan-13 19:56:51

Hello hello and a big warm welcome to our newcomers (from all sources)

Can we please remind you not to personally attack each other - tis against our Talk Guidelines

We've no problem with you posting here to 'find' each other, but if this thread turns into a rehash of arguments that have taken place elsewhere, it's going to go to the great thread graveyard in the sky.

Thanks
MNHQ

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 19:58:01

Thank you.

irlouise13 Sat 19-Jan-13 20:05:27

Yeah, I don't remember u sara, I was only there a year or so. No double ids or arguments to be rehashed on my part. Had been lurking here for a week or 2 anyway - looking forward to diving in at the deep end!

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 20:10:47

I've lurked on and off as well. Might get more involved, at least on this site you can expect professionalism, fairness and to be treated like an adult. The moderation seems good too. I think I'd have enjoyed a good old spar with your louise, I like straight talking too!

zignzag Sat 19-Jan-13 20:11:23

Another Irish poster here. Have an account here good while buy rarely post.

I like Irish people.

<massive generalisation>

Bez00 Sat 19-Jan-13 21:57:48

Hi Girls, read a few other threads here today, there is a place for every topic imaginable. But the one thing that strikes me is that no matter where the site is, the same concerns face parents. I expect we may all get a bit lost as we are drawn to topics that interest us. Hope the bump is doing well, irlouise13.

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 22:06:36

Hi girls. Only on for a few minutes. From reading the rest of the thread I can see some have followed over just to make us look bad. I suggest we just ignore them and let them on with it. Am certainly not here to give them some entertainment.

Will try get on later.. Great to see you all xx

rhetorician Sat 19-Jan-13 22:09:48

what happened? am completely clueless and have no idea what any of you are talking about. I live in Dublin btw and have posted periodically on topics relating to Irish things...

squiggleirl Sat 19-Jan-13 22:11:39

Hi Louise, just come from rollercoaster. Was wondering if you'd been banned too when I couldn't find one of your threads. I'm still hanging on in there (seems I wasn't quite disruptive enough!), but it has got quiet over there now. How you getting on with babs?

Sara and Loueze!

I remember you both from when I was Snowglobe around 4 years ago!!!

<swear I'm not a stalker emoticon>

qualitytoffee Sat 19-Jan-13 22:18:06

Girls, i'm an ex also, but this is a huge site, with lovely ladies, so please explore it. Their invaluable advice was a godsend to me, and i love it here xxx Please don't just limit yourself to this thread xxx

HowAmIStillHere Sat 19-Jan-13 22:19:03

Lovely to see lots of posters I am familiar with 'over here'.
Give it a while and the stalkers will have gotten bored, I hope!
I can see the need for a few threads on here to find old pals and get reacquainted. Once all the ex rc'rs have found one another and clocked each others new id's am sure the craic will follow.

therealmccoy Sat 19-Jan-13 22:25:15

LOL it's all very quiet over there, I think we are all here. Let them discuss their steam mops till the cows come home lol nothing but a pack of reporting, no life scaldies lol

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 22:26:39

I remember you Snowglobe! Good to see you!

Yes they are following from all sorts including GAA clubs in Tipp! ;)

I've read here on and off for a while too and don't for a minute think we will have some sort of clique (;) here or anything - just thought it would be nice to touch base! I've been an ex for a good while now and am well over it but it's nice to see old friends!

squiggleirl Sat 19-Jan-13 22:29:37

I remember Snowglobe. How are you pet?

SanityClause Sat 19-Jan-13 22:36:22

A clique is called a quiche here. Not sure why.

Bez00 Sat 19-Jan-13 22:43:19

Ah no, I am partial to the odd quiche. Not so fond of a clique

qualitytoffee Sat 19-Jan-13 22:45:41

Only real men eat quiche!! Cliques not my forte either x

Hello! smile

I feel all warm and fuzzy having people remember be could be the wine

How do you say quiche in Irish?! Don't think there's an Irish quiche yet!

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:08:03

I think the proper way of pronouncing quiche here in Ireland is spuds... I could be wrong ....

Is that you SusieWong?!

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:13:01

It is smile ..... The real susiewong. Coming back to annoy yiz all

Bez00 Sat 19-Jan-13 23:13:27

There is no word for quiche as Gaeilge. Potatoes are pratai. (I don't know how to do fadas). Its a pity though. There is no irish word for clique either. Yet there are mad crazy words, like balls translates to liathroidi.

Ah howya Suze! smile

Sure we'll be a quicheíocht wink

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:16:24

How do you say quiche in Irish?!

Ahh sure you'll have the bit of quiche ya will?

That's how my Mum would have said it grin

<< Unhelpful >>

grin Worra!

Ah ye will have a bit. Ye will, ye will, ye will, ye will, ye will!

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:20:30

Is it wrong that I have never eaten quiche in my life ... Or pizza !!

Stupid foreign fancy food....

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:21:47

To tell the truth my Mum would have more likely said...

"Quiche? Quiche? since when did you get so feckin grand? You'll have the soup and soda bread like the rest of us!" grin

Gasp!

You've never had pizza? You haven't lived!

Bez00 Sat 19-Jan-13 23:22:55

How have you avoided pizza? Its the most amazing food in the world. It can be plain, just a bit of cheese, or fancy with different cured meats, or exotic roasted veg. And you can eat it with your hands. No need for plates. And goes with every booze imaginable.

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:23:43

A world without pizza is not one I want to be a part of

<< Dramatic >>

"Can't be holdin with that foreign stuff at all, at all".

"It's far from quiche you were raised madam".

That's what I'd get! grin

Anyone else reading this in an Oirish accent?

Hello, I have lots of Irish ancestry and an Irish Mare.

Who the feck are you all and where have you come from?

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:27:37

Ya can have your pizza, I'm sticking with a hang sangwich, and a package of tayho, washed down with a cuppa tae.. Sure ya couldn't bait it with a shtick...

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:27:48

Yep I'm reading the whole lot in Irish grin

I'm so glad these people aren't Welsh cos I can't do that accent

Even in my head it just turns into Jamaican?!

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:28:45

I vote we lock Wonger in a cupboard until she cracks

Then we can slide a thin and crispy under the door...

Welsh always turns to Indian in my lips.

Oh er matron blush

Ah now we can't beat an oul cuppa tae of a cold evenin such as this!

I'm even typing oirish now!

But still, you simply must have pizza <stern face>

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:31:16

Wonger cracked a long time ago ;)

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:32:38

Should I admit to never having Lasagne either

* Hangs head *

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:32:49

I'd order you a Thin and Crusty Supreme but I'm not sure I could fit Diana Ross under the cupboard door.

qualitytoffee Sat 19-Jan-13 23:34:54

Do you know, i never had pizza or indian until i went to England?
It was new and exotic, and i used my student loan to full effect wisely! grin

My parents sniff at "foreighn food", no matter how much i try (sigh)
Meat and 2 veg and spuds is the only food that matters!

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 23:35:44

Oh Wonger there is a whole world of food out there waiting to be explored!!! ;)

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 23:36:07

Actually I would love something tasty right now! ;)

WorraLiberty Sat 19-Jan-13 23:36:53

My Mum used to think spaghetti bolognese gave you rickets confused

<< Don't ask! >>

Wonger Sat 19-Jan-13 23:37:17

Sara !!!!! Ya dirty bitch ....

IWasSara Sat 19-Jan-13 23:39:14

Nice slice of pizza or some lasagne Wonger ;)

Bez00 Sat 19-Jan-13 23:39:36

Hang sandwiches an' TK red lemonade on the side of the road on yer way to Croker! Savage.

Funny my folks would have been the same way about food, the only 'wet' dinners were stews and anything with a pint of gravy. Now its a chicken curry or a beef strip wrap. Mad how they go in old age.

Have heard about RC from my SIL. Is is that parochial that they'd ban threads for no particular reason? Is it run by PPs?

Worra I laughed out loud at that Diana Ross reference!

I'm going to start flinging Italian food at you Wonger!!

januaryjan Sat 19-Jan-13 23:48:41

mad into Pinky and Perky books as small child..had to get counselling when we visited my nan up country one christmas and she dished up crubeens for dinner.

irlouise13 Sat 19-Jan-13 23:54:55

They ban people for no particular reason - never mind threads!!! The only 'disruptive' thing I did was ask them to explain why they were locking/deleting threads that seemed totally within the guidelines!

Personally have no problem with the posters, just the admin of the site. Its all over the shop.

Bump doing well ladies - wrecked today, cud have slept all day long, my 2 year old wasn't having that though! Supposed to work til wed but not sure ill make it!

This site is huge alright, I'd say we'll lose each other quickly but good to recognise some names starting out

IWasSara Sun 20-Jan-13 00:06:48

That was what happened me in the end too irlouise13. Apparently one mustn't publicly challenge them. It used to be a fabulous little site, very friendly, real community feel, lots of debate/banter. Would have been literally laughing my head off some days - sitting silently shaking with laughter at my desk in work trying to keep it in! Made a lot of friends that I am still in touch with.

Changed a lot, for the worse, in the last few years and then the crazy inconsistent moderating!

I loved Pinky and Perky too januaryjan! you must be old like me!! ;)

IWasSara Sun 20-Jan-13 00:07:35

It is ifitsnot, and you could well be right!!

WorraLiberty Sun 20-Jan-13 00:13:09

This site has too many topics is huge but the most popular topics are this one, chat and relationships really.

They're certainly the most active sections on MN.

L0ueze Sun 20-Jan-13 00:59:16

Jaysis. This is giving me flashbacks.

honeyrider Sun 20-Jan-13 01:52:04

Oh so things are still the same yonder, same old same old but what do you expect when the admin have certain posters as moderators that's why it's been so biased. I grew out of the place a long time ago and left as it became so boring.

Fortunately I've found a few other sites that are a lot more interesting and have more interesting topics than the done to death steam mops and hanging out laundry and cum towels.

IWasSara Sun 20-Jan-13 02:06:07

That's become increasingly apparent honeyrider.

honeyrider Sun 20-Jan-13 02:07:32

Good to see you Sara

IWasSara Sun 20-Jan-13 02:14:13

And you x

LoopsInHoops Sun 20-Jan-13 02:16:12

I love this place!

You can't say fuck without a * wink

Duharra Sun 20-Jan-13 12:12:33

For peeps that have no time for the other site, sure do a lot of yacking about it confused

Most of the talk has been about pizza and other foreign food!

Duharra Sun 20-Jan-13 12:38:28

Not from where I am positioned grin

Ah then it's probably me. I do tend to gravitate towards food, typed about or otherwise! wink

eosmum Sun 20-Jan-13 12:43:45

Another ex here, great to see the old names, posted on other thread but it went pooofff.

januaryjan Sun 20-Jan-13 13:03:30

Yes Iwassara me and peig sayers were in junior infants together

Duharra Sun 20-Jan-13 13:07:06

Hi eosmum!

It's ok januaryjan, that was just for the benefit of my stalker!! smile

cacamilis Sun 20-Jan-13 15:19:42

Just wondering if any of you guys have posted in any of the main threads yet? I haven't yet, just haven't had time to get stuck in.

Just wondering is it easy to get stuck in or can there be a bit of a divide due to refernces to places, cost of things politics ect.

I am such a dimwit I have had an account on here for a few months and never realised they had a chat zone.
I cleared my cookies on lap top switched off wifi and reregistered on RC, just to prove I can!

Can anyone tell me how I get these smileys to work, I particularly like th wine one!
Thanks cacamilis aka Deede

januaryjan Sun 20-Jan-13 16:03:37

IWASSARA,

Whose in Galway, why do they need to phone them?

is it some kind of a secret society to help endangered posters?

I hate Jaffa cakes!

<misses undertones completely>

januaryjan Sun 20-Jan-13 16:12:32

Are you a kimberley, mikado or coconut cream?

IWASSARA, all ok mon petit pois??

Ooh now: chocolate Kimberly for Christmas or in laws visiting and the likes. Mikado for run of the mill biscuit consumption. Coconut creams if there's nothing else!

honeyrider Sun 20-Jan-13 16:18:38

Wonger Sun 20-Jan-13 16:27:28

cacamilis Sun 20-Jan-13 16:28:07

Iwas sara, I only reregistered to prove I could, nobody puts Deede in the corner!!

Now to be honest other than a roll call I don't see the point in continuing posting in this thread, lets move out and explore the wider world of mumsnet, we can do it. Let go of your Rc hat and start integrating. :-)

Dear god Wonger!!! I know misery loves company but didn't you see where I said they were my biscuit of choice?! Do you think I can be eating them fancy biscuits all the time?!

What were you thinking?!

Wonger Sun 20-Jan-13 16:49:31

Well if I can't eat them no one else can

I'm taking you all down with me .....

I'd expect nothing else from someone who doesn't even eat pizza!

januaryjan Sun 20-Jan-13 17:04:29

Sweet Niblets Wonger!

it really is an artform to be able to paint the humble Mikado in so crummie a picture.
