worn out washing machine

I think our washing machine has spun its last. I would like someone to confirm that before we try and find the funds to buy another. I wondered whether any mumsnetter could recommend a reliable person who could look at it and perhaps mend it. I am so fed up of bad service and unreliable workmen. Please help. The washing is mounting up as I write. I think it's off to the launderette for us... We live in North London. N4, N8, N10 anywhere!
