My normally very well behaved cat has for some reason decided to do a wee in my utility room. I have bleached and disinfected it but still the smell seems to linger. Does anyone know of anything that will get rid of the smell. At the moment I leave the window open and have an airfresher handy. My floor is tiled so can try just about anything on it.

My mum used a concetrated disinfectent on stuff like that, it called Zolflora or something very similar so that might work.

Don't use bleach, Temptress! The chlorine-y smell of it encourages cats to wee again to put put their own scent over it - yeeeuuch, I know! Washing the area with some bio washing powder in hot water is recommended. Or you used to be able to buy a liquid from the vet that covered the smell - but eventually, I associated that smell with cat's wee anyway. Soemtimes I think that when a cat has wee'd it's hard to get the pong out of your nose even though the smell has gone, IYKWIM - sigh. HTH!

Febreeze often good too-can use even to wipe over hard surfaces.
Mine only ever wees in my husbands shoes which I have to quickly throw away and deny all knowledge of having seen them!-luckily cat only does it once a year and husband very absent minded!

Our kittens are just about to be neutered ( 9 days to go !!) and have taken to weeing in kitchen !!But I have found an excellent odour remover at our local petshop called Simple Solution made by the Bramton Company- website www.bramton.com. Sorry I can't do links. Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your help. I will have to try those all one by one and hope that one of them does the job. Thanks sue for letting me know about the bleach. I quite often do that so it will be something I steer clear of in the future.

How old is your cat and how big is the growth?

Did you have the lump sent off? it sounds a bit odd, funny place for a cat to get a lump, presumably your vet is sure it wasnt an abcess?
Could you ask your vet for some painkillers-there are some drops you can put in food if you cant get tablets down.

I would work on DH, it should be £30 max for that and then you would know. Makes a big difference to what you would do if it came back etc. I would speak to your vet first though as he should have some idea what it is by looking at it ie cyst,abcess or growth and if he really doesnt know them nust be something else so get it checked out! glad cat seems better
