I need some present suggestions! For dh mainly, he is fussy about clothes, his music taste is questionable, not really into gadgets much, not very sporty - what can I buy him????
Also mothers and brothers, what have people bought for them? Please give me some last minute suggestions!!!

Anything in the diy mould? A fancy hamper of goodies?

how about Star Trek (or other thing he's very into) memorabilia? I bought dp a "communicator" badge that makes a noise and he was v. pleased. He does like gadgets though: if it's brushed aluminium and has buttons on it then he wants one.

Also books. You'd be surprised at what leaps out at you when just browsing for someone!

Nice Wine? Book? (sorry to be boring, but they are difficult b*gers aren't they, men?) Theatre tickets? I bought mine (not that it'll be much help, probably) inoffensive, good quality grey top from Boden that will go with everything; new William Boyd book; flip-top stainless steel glasses case (his old one broke); John Peel compilation CD (which I thought looked quite good and eclectic). Not very exciting, but there you go. Don't know what your budget is, but have you tried Red Letter Days? Think they're very expensive, though - although I'm always amazed what some people spend.

Would he like one of those Red Letter Day experience gifts? My dp loved his Ferrari day. If he's not into driving or sporty stuff, you can get luxury spa days and all sorts of other things.

Or how about a digital camera - dp bought me one of those Epsilon ones (I think it was about £130) and it's brilliant, have had loads of fun with it as it does video and sound as well as static pics. Great fun for filming dp in the bath. Snigger.

Or what about a subscription to his favourite magazine?

Halliwell's Film Guide and Who's Who of Film are fantastic books if he's into movies ...

Over the years I have bought dh - a subscription to PRivate Eye - wine glasses from Berry Brothers, new dressing gown (in charcoal so he won't mistake it for mine, which always has wet sleeves apparently!), wine tokens for oddbins, nice jumper from Paul Smith (moment of madness!), cashmere scarf & fleece gloves, history books, pair of camper shoes, minidisc thingy, new Peter Cook anthology, copy of 1066 And All That (which makes me laugh anyway). Exes have had similar gifts, which either means I have similar boyfriends or just try to force them all into the same mould! Mind you, I got one ex who travelled a lot a Gameboy which was v successful. The value of a big batch of really nice new socks is often underestimated IMO. Also video/DVD of favourite film. Nice aftershave if he/you like it.

If he's into James Bond, Swatch have brought out a range of watches, one for each film, some of which are rather snazzy

Unfortunately dh has no hobbies I can think of, apart from playing squash. But the John Peel compilation CD sounds quite good, he likes John Peel, thanks RosieT! Might also buy him a sweater. The Red Letter Days sound fab, but just cost a tad too much for me!

Now there's just my brother and my mum....!

Aftershave - one that you like. You say he doesn't like gadgetty stuff but have a look at www.iwantoneofthose.com or www.firebox.com which have both proved godsends for dh in the past.

I can't do links anymore! have I lost my mind or is something wrong with my pc?

they can't guarantee mas delivery now. Iwantoneofthose usually takes 2 days, Firebox 4. You might be able to pay extra for next day delivery if there is something somewhere that you really want that you can't get anywhere else.
I always get my Mum smellies, and put an IOU in for my time to use them on her. This year she gets a Bloom facial and pedicure. I hate doing it, but figure Xmas comes but once a year - thank God
