6TH BIRTHDAY PARTY - IDEAS PLEASE!

I'm planning a 6th birthday party for my daughter with a "desert island" theme. (Bearing in mind it's in 3 weeks' time so will probably be pouring with rain!) So far I have a large paddling pool, as an oasis, am planning to make large palm trees and have a big sandpit treasure hunt/lucky dip. but after that I'm stumped. I'd be very grateful for any other suggestions along the same lines. So get your thinking caps on.. and thanks.

Soft drink cocktails with fruit on sticks and cocktail umbrellas. Set up a table with a cocktail menu. They could even pay with shells like at Club Med!

Get some cheap bunches of fake flowers from the pound shop or discount store and let them make garlands for their necks.

Go to the local library and borrow a cassette of Hawaiian hula-hula music (or buy one)

Scoop out some big pineapples and fill them with fruit or sweets

Make a treasure chest (or use an old trunk) with sawdust or sand or shredded paper for party bags.

Bee Thanks very much - loads of good stuff there. I must admit I was struggling a bit with the concept of Desert Island, but a Hawaiian theme has lots of mileage in it. Thanks again for the tips.
