Does anyone know which way Feng Shui practitioners say is the best direction for a bed to face?

On a different matter, anyone got any tips as to how to make our kitchen more soundproof? Everytime DS goes for a sleep I'm paranoid about getting all the kitchen type chores done quietly as our house is quite small and every sound seems so clittery clattery!

Ideally your bedroom should be in the south west corner of the house, or , if not poss, your bed should be in the sw corner of the room it's in. Bed should be positioned so it isn't foot-first towards the door (as a coffin would be when carried out), a mirror (disturbs the spirits) or a window (energy escapes out of the window). Head should be against the wall, with nothing overhanging, and the bed should be adjacent to a window, but not right next to it. I think that's right (it worked for me anyway -that's got you guessing!)

Feng Shui has got to be a shedload of pants, right?
Can't believe anyone on Mumsnet is taken in by this stuff

Feng Shui - of course I've heard of it for decades but have chosen to know nothing about it as it's got to be another commercial load of rubbish based on something "alternative" from the "East". However, as for little boy being disturbed by kitchen noise, I think it's good if children learn to sleep with normal household noise.

Best way for a bed to face? Mattress and pillows on the top, baseboard on the bottom . I always thought Feng Shui was Chinese for Too Much Time On Hands - not something anyone at Mumsnet has ever complained about!

Ha ha. Yeah I know it's all wierd stuff and I only want to know about the bed bit because if I found out anything else it would be bound to show up all sorts of "wrong" things and it would be awful to feel your whole house might be full of "bad energy" or something. However, as they say, don't knock it till you've tried it. Thanks Empress for the info, looks like we'll have to start sleeping in the bathroom.

Feng Shui - the ancient oriental practice of moving the telly to the other side of the room.
