It's top secret. You have to be in the know to be...erm...in the know. I could tell you,but then I would have to kill you.

Just listen to I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue and you'll find you understand the rules perfectly.

Practice hones the skill though.

Years and years of practice. Even now I stutter over a Fothergill parlay from Circle to Northern.
Let's start a simple game op. I start at Angel and you go to....?

Then it's into Warren street, surely?

For Heaven's sake, give the OP a chance and take it down a notch! Angel to Kings Cross leaves lots of nice easy options for a beginner.

I can pass on the dear Colonel's address, if you'd like. I hear he still gives the occasional tutorial.

Report
ThoraGruntwhistle · 07/05/2016 22:19

It's not about anything. The point is that it's pointless. As far as I can make out.

Report
dementedma · 07/05/2016 22:23

Yes, we all know about the Colonel's "tutorials", thank you.
Small wonder he had to holiday for quite some time in Cuba until the fuss died down.

Report
LemonRedwood · 08/05/2016 00:36

Oooh, cunning Jelliebabe1. I shall shunt you to Ruislip West. I know that wouldn't usually stand, but being the week after a bank holiday the special dispensation applies.

Report
novemberchild · 08/05/2016 01:45

Yes, well, the Colonel vouchsafed to my dear Mater that the incident with the Marigolds and the potting shed was nothing but a misunderstanding - wrong place at the wrong time, he assured her, and not at all what it looked like. Still, he staged quite the magnificent comeback game after Cuba - MC with a Latin flavour, or so the papers said, and I have to agree.

An excellent point novemberchild. I have heard that both Rio de Janeiro and Ipanema on the Brazil metro system have been played successfully following a shunt. Are you sticking with one of these trued and tested moves, or going for something more bold?

Report
LemonRedwood · 08/05/2016 02:42

*tried
Not trued. How do you turn off auto-correct on an HTC. It definitely hinders play somewhat!

MyDobbygotgivenasock · 08/05/2016 03:57

A Fothergill parlay? On a Saturday and everybody let it stand?
Now I don't agree with the St.John schism, and we all know the cons are still a little odd (four Carstairs to a return Cockpole, ludicrous) but I have to protest this unfettered inclusion of...foreign influences. We all know why it was allowed but I hope we all agree that little incident is in the past and best forgotten. Bikini technology, particularly in Cuba, was in its infancy it really was unforeseeable and the ensuing gossip nothing short of slanderous. And I should know, it was after all my antique Chinese parasol.

If we may continue on a more civilised footing it would be appreciated. A Nelson half double perhaps? Or a threefold mitre? Something a little more sporting. Thank you so much.

Fine talk there Dobby, but where is your move eh?
I do have to defend the Colonel here, who as most of you know I am sometimes proud to call pater. He has tutored many a corps de ballet to international standards, indeed, both Nureyev and Fonteyn were taken to almost grand master status by the old duffer.
Thora-well done in keeping the pretence going.
Anyway, his favourite move - Cockfosters.

As some of us know there has been an all-night sitting of the Grand Council to consider the emergency which has arisen by there being two MC threads running.

They have decided to apply Rule 87(xiii) which (subject of course to the third paragraph 13 of the Seventh Protocol) provides that the next six posts must be typed backwards.

Accordingly I play a Tompkins Trebled Looper to Daetspmah.

Please, LemonRedwood, don't recommend the OP to listen to That Programme. Their version of the Sublime Game compared to the Real Thing is like a child scribbling on the wall compared to the Sistine Chapel. There are no short cuts to success. OP if you start now it need not take more than twelve years to reach the lowest level of skill.

Good news. The Admiral is going out on Tuesday. Meet her outside Holloway if you must, but bear in mind the terms of her licence: NO cuddly toys, NO boiled sweets, and definitely NO dandelion and burdock. We don't want to set her up to fail, do we?
