Relocation to Manchester - help !!!

Hi, we are looking to relocate to Manchester from Coventry this summer. We have been looking at Altrincham area and was told by the council there were no places for school for my son except at broadheath primary. I checked with a few private schools as well and they all got waiting lists. I'm not sure of broadheath primary and prefer a different school. Any help with how I can get another school is appreciated
Thanks

If the schools are full then you can't do anything about it, other than to move here, accept the place and go on the waiting list for the alternative schools you'd like. Schools throughout Altrincham (state and private) and Trafford in general are massively over-subscribed. There does tend to be movement though so places do and will come up, its a question of whether you're willing to wait.

Thanks for your reply. Is broadheath school any good ? MGS said they have some places available. I'm considering that as well. Thanks again

We moved last summer. Started our search in Altrincham, I had 2 primary places to find...it was a nightmare. We now live in Macclesfield Grin
Unless you are desperate to stay in Altrincham, I'd recommend having a bit more of a look around.
I actually ended up with a job based in Manchester and Wilmslow, so this location has worked out well for us...

I don't know anyone who goes to Broadheath only that a boy in my DS' class went there for a year when his family moved to the area until a place came up at my son's school. So I can't really comment. It does seem odd to me that in an area where schools are in such demand that this is a school that always seems to have spare places. But I may be doing it a massive dis-service - all you can do is go and visit and see what you think. As Framboisier says, places are more readily available outside of Altrincham / Trafford.

Got a place at this school for my daughter. Will start there soon as no places anywhere preffered. Went to look around the school, visited classes but frankly u cant guess about the school much just by a single visit for half n hour...really not sure what to expect??? Lucyj80 what did u do at the end did u take a place at broadheath school for ur child? If so how did u find it and did u then get a place at another school?
