bad circulation - how to improve

My dd constantly wakes up with hands that are freezing and almost blue in colour ! I don't know what to do to keep them warm - mittens she'll just pull off and because she's teething so much she always has her hands in her mouth.

Does anyone else have this experience or is it just that my dd has terrible circulation ?

Does she wake early because she's cold? mittens are a bad idea - she'll never get her thumb in her mouth if she wakes up at night, and will be sure to let you know about it. I'm sure I've read that babies hands and feet are always cold, and not a good indication of general body heat. Try feeling the back of her neck, tummy etc. If she's ok, and not waking early, and as long as her rooms a good 18 - 21' you should be fine. It probably worries you more than her. And also - isn't her circulatory system still developing? I've read that some babies top half stays the same colour while the bottom half goes purple / red / blue for a bit! Apparently all normal

No, it never wakes her Manna and you're probably right, I probably worry about it more than she does. Her neck always feels fine and her room is normally around 19 - 20. It never seems to bother her but they look so blueish sometimes !

My dd always had frozen hands when she was tiny. She was a November baby and all through her first winter and spring totally refused to keep her hands under blankets etc - she hated being constricted in any way once she got over the initial swaddling phase. In the end she sorted the problem for herself by sleeping with her hands behind her head, and she still sleeps this way.

Ds seems to have inherited my seemingly frozen extremities (earning me the nickname Penguin Features). He's not bothered by them. Children lose only a small percentage of their body heat through their hands and feet, so she should be fine.

Personally, I hate it when my feet or hands are too wrapped up, it makes the rest of me feel uncomfortable.

remember, babies skin is very fine, resulting in a bluish tinge, probably, tillysmummy. I know I can look a bit blue around theeyes, where my skin is much finer, almost transulscent.
