Babies' Names - Your Initial?

I am just curious - how many of you gave your first child a name beginning with the same initial as your own name? (Or your husband's, if different from yours?)
I did, BTW!

Oh, I did actually. Very unintentionally and very inconveniently since we are both Miss ***!

No, we're a bit practical thinking about the poor postman in 18 years time! R

Yes, we did, unintentionally. And my two dd's share the same initial. We were more aware of that one but decided to go for it anyway.

My BIL and his DW share both intials with their children; they are J & G and the children are J & G. Not deliberate AFAIK.

I have friends where both DH and DW's initials begin with J and all 3 kids the same (can't go wrong with a "J", though, if you ask me)!

sobernow, I put my elder daughter in that position too and I promise I didn't plan it! (Actually I have a second initial but it doesn't always get used.) One of my sons has the same initial too but as he will be a Mr at least his mail can be private...

It's amazing how often it happens and I'm sure it is quite unconscious - have a look at birth announcements in the paper and just anything that mentions people's names and you'll notice it too!

Two of my four have the same initials as either myself or dh, but we gave them different middle initials to save confusion with the post in years to come! Wasn't done intentionally, but the names we liked best happened to start with our initials.

We've done this - ds has both initials same as mine! But hopefully, as he'll be MR & I'm Mrs there shouldn't be too much confusion in the years to come.
It wasn't intentional, but just the names we liked.
Dh was at school with someone whose whole family has names starting with S - both parents and 6 kids!!

I did, my dd has four names with all initials being the same as mine. Her first name we chose because we had always wanted a girl with that name (so coincidental) the second name was that of both her greatgrandmothers and is the second name of her grandma (so a family name),her third name is my third name (so a family name) and we have the same surname (as I am married). I was one of 4 children all with the same initial - I think my mother did it so she only had to order one lot of name tapes.

It's a bit complicated in my family - my dad, brother and I all have the same intial (in fact, dad and brother have the same name) and dad did open our mail and it caused some friction. Dh and I have the same initial and my brother's wife also has the same initial so we are a really family of ...'s !! There was absolutely no question that ds would have a name that started with something different!

I was very aware of this especially with regards to mail and bank accounts etc in the future, we also have a common surname so we intentionally gave ds and dd three initials.

When I was living at home, I was the only J in a family of S's. I felt quite left out when I was young, as there were several other things that they all shared which I didn't (star sign, for example). But these days I'm very glad! My children and I all have different initials.

I've never thought about it before, but yes, my dd has the same initial as me!

On a slightly different point, my dh has been married before (as have I) and his first wife has the same first 2 initials as me. Obviously also the same surname when married (don't know if she has kept it - and don't care (much!)

Hardly at all. We are all T's at the end, but dh is HJ, I am SM, dd is KM and ds is APR. And even the 2 M's arent the same name. Only realised what ds's initials were though when we got a letter from the bank about aour mortgage, and the Annual Percentage Rate had changed. Oh dear! Teach me to add in a name in the delivery room still high on pethedine!
