A friends 3yr girl has been dry for quite some time now and is fine in this, however she refuses to 'do the dirty' in the toilet and insists on having a nappy on, sometimes not going for days is this is not forthcoming. She has been known to go at the Nursery she is at but at home, no chance!! Help, what advice can I give to my friend.

my guess is she probally already had this advice but if not I would suggest using a reward system. Maybe a chart with special stickers that her daughter can stick on herself. Another idea might be a small grab bag with little treats like stickers, lollypops, tiny books anything that will fit in the bag. Each time she uses the toilet she can close her eyes and reach in the bag. This is always exciting to a child. Hope this can help your friend.

You could try puting a nappy in the potty next time she wants to go. I did this with my 3 and it worked, and plan on trying it again when ds is big enough. When she is comfortable with the potty then you could substitute the nappy for some tissue, using less until she "goes it alone"!

Also distracting her from what she is doing could help, like giving her a book to look at when she is on the potty.
