Hi all

First time poster!

I am due in September and will be starting my new job next year in September 2016. Therefore I will get year off with the little un. I am currently based in East London. My new job will either be in High Wycombe or Windsor. Therefore we are looking to move early 2016 or late 2015. My husband works in London Victoria.

We are looking to buy a house in either Windsor or surrounding areas. Ideally we want to be within 20 min drive for me so that I am not too far from the baby should I need to get back home. Also we need to be somewhere that my husband can commute to work easily enough i.e. 1hr total train journey. We are looking to buy a 2 bed house if possible and the above listed areas are those that we have been told are good to look at. I don't know the areas that well but I know that Windsor is supposed to be lovely. Our budget is around £350k which may be pushing it! I was wondering if anyone had any experience of any of these areas or where else they would recommend?

Thanks

Zareen

Windsor much nicer than High Wycombe!

£350k is definitely tight for Windsor, though you may get something in the western areas (eg Dedworth) - though the niceness of windsor reduces somewhat as you move that way!

Generally a lovely part of the country though and I'd highly recommend it. As for transport, Windsor has two stations. I think you'd want the one that goes to Waterloo (which takes about an hour). I think for Victoria you'd want to get off at Vauxhall to take the tube 2 stops.

You might also want to consider Staines (significantly more trains to London), and still close to Windsor for you.

Thanks for the replies. We could possibly push to £375k. Any surrounding areas that might be worth considering?

If you are based in High Wycombe and not Windsor. Trains from High Wycombe to London run about every 15 mins and take 25-30. Its is easy tube journey from Marylebone to Victoria I did it for years. For High Wycombe look at the villages between Junction 4/5 on the M40 Lane End and Stokenchurch.

Also the between about Lane End and Stokenchurch is 10-15 mins from Lane End or 5 mins from Stokenchurch (WITH NO TRAFFIC TO IT ALL just a big fast country road) is Junction 6 at Junction 6 the Oxford Tube stops (its is REGULAR stop). It runs a 7 day a week 24 hours service to London Victoria so your husband could always get home. There are I believe buses from Stokenchurch to Junction 6 for the Oxford Tube

It is very pretty with pretty villages and villages close by in the Hambleden Valley. It is well worth a look.

My nephews lived in Stokenchurch but went over the border (which is very close) to Oxon for school. Some go to school at Thame, Wheatley or Watlington and Henley.
