what 'trends' really (maybe unreasonably) make your teeth itch?

Some things really piss me off. Those wall stickers 'live, laugh, love' and other shitty phrases for example. Another is those glittery wine glasses/bottles being sold on every Facebook page. Then there are those books that have been turned into words and classed as art.

There are more. Wow there are more but before I go on, are these common pet hates or AIBU a miserable bitch

You are not alone. Glittery Facebook shit is awful, though quite amusing. Although how you're supposed to drink out of the glasses without emitting glitter for the next few weeks I don't know. Or covering everything else in your dishwasher with it. And those carved up books should be named as blasphemy to the book, they are hideous.

There was a brilliant thread about a similar thing not so long ago. Someone else was also berating those stupid house signs and, this being Mumsnet, lots of people came up with helpful alternative suggestions. 'Crapper' over the loo, 'shithole' across the living room wall, etc. Totes hilaire. Grin

littlerayofsunshite · 02/03/2015 22:59

Ahh is love to find that thread. I'm in a bad mood and moaning for no reason at all about everything I can.

I like some shabby chic things but the things that tend to be more expensive. Not the shabby shit that is anything you can half pain with some 'Annie Sloane' paint and it just looks like it's been dragged from the tip tied to the back of sometimes car ...

Think I might need to get a shithole sign for my living room Grin

Decorating with grey paint. People consigning themselves to a below-deck battleship vibe.

That's 2016's depression boom explained, right there.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/03/2015 00:03

Oh god yes the grey paint. It's the new magnolia. My lovely friend loves her grey paint. Half her kitchen is painted a dark grey, walls, dresser, picture frames. It's so depressing.

'A red lip' - don't you mean red lipstick? Dreadful.

caravanista13 · 03/03/2015 10:42

Fish served upside down! Why would you want the skin on top?!

caravanista13 · 03/03/2015 10:45

And using the singular noun for a number of animals e.g. 'We saw lion and giraffe on safari'

MerryMarigold · 03/03/2015 10:48

Actually did LOL (not just SALTS) at the Lion and Giraffe!

AnyFucker · 03/03/2015 10:50

Greydog · 03/03/2015 10:51

Foraging - It's picking stuff from the hedge or where ever. Sourcing - you looked on the Internet and found it, and finally - gifted - someone gave it to you,

MerryMarigold · 03/03/2015 10:53

Huge, oversized mirrors in massive, carved gilt frames.... just sitting on the floor, looking like perhaps the wall wasn't strong enough to take them and gathering dust in the crevice behind them. Amount of houses we've looked round which have had these maybe it's just Essex.

MerryMarigold · 03/03/2015 10:54

Oh yes, Ebay should change their name to 'Source-bay'

BiscuitsForBreakfast · 03/03/2015 11:04

Teenagers hairdos where the side parting starts just above their ear and looks like a massive comb over.

ouryve · 03/03/2015 11:05

Everything being Amazing.

RollaCola · 03/03/2015 11:08

Food served on things that aren't plates, such as slabs of slate and lumps of wood.

Drinks served out of jam jars.

"Shopping the Edit."

We are onto you; we know these are most likely to be top of your worst seller list and the things your buyers ticked off when they were half cut.

"A colour pop."

Poor Dame Jude is in the sidebar o'shame today with a colour pop. This involved her grabbing her red purse out of her bag. That's how much thiught she out into that colour pop.

Wagamamma (alright not modern but it still grates)

If I want to experience Asian worker lunch I'll go and work in China and sit on a bench there. Here, a regular old table and chair is just fine thanks.
