STROLLER - not keenn on a Maclaren, any suggestions?

I'm looking for a new stroller after my Maclaren (Daytripper, I think) has collapsed on me. The hood is bashed so badly that I can't hang the rain cover off it (probably just as much my fault as a pram fault but did break after just a couple of months, as did my friend's). I also find the breaks worse than useless on all Maclarens, I was very tempted to get the Techno stroller for its ease of folding, good easy recliner, etc but the bloody stupid breaks have put me off so far.
So, has anyone got any other stroller they recommend? I get a lot of use out of mine, it will get thrown in the car, on the bus, on the tube, through the mud of the woods, on a plane, etc!! Am I hoping for too much for getting a sturdy stroller which is also easy to fold up and doesn't weigh a tonne??
Perhaps I should go for the Techno and just accept the rubbish breaks as the rest of it works well for me???

I'm sure you've thought of it yourself, but have you tried the review surveys on this website? they've got ones for pushchairs, single & double etc on the home page.

I quiet like my Toys R Us stroller it was about £30. The handles are uncomfortable for use during long days out.
