Hello all out there

I am about to purchase a new kitchen from handmade kitchens direct in Christchurch.

Has any one had any dealings with them good or bad. Just want to get some feedback about the quality and if happy with the end result.

Many thanks

Hi, did you end up ordering from Handmade kitchens? I'm looking at their units at the moment and wondered how it went if you used them.

Thanks!

Hi there

I am so sorry I missed your question. I had my kitchen from handmade kitchens direct (Christchurch) delivered yesterday and I am over the moon.

I had my kitchen made from tulip wood and upgraded to the oak veneer inside cabinets. And I have extras like cutlery trays and pull out drawers in cabinets and still saved lots of money from the high street suppliers quotes. Pine is cheaper but not always the best finish. So if you can upgrade, do. Look out for their sales.

Like a lot of others I have sourced other items - worktop, sink etc from others. Another good way to save money.

But the quality of the kitchen is just lovely. I would say go for it, if you are on a tight budget and dream of a handmade kitchen I believe you will not be disappointed. My budget was tight and some did say I wouldn't find what I was looking for with my budget and then I found HMK direct.

Things to bear in mind:

  • The only thing I would say is the hinges on cabinet doors could be upgraded, which I am looking into. Nothing wrong with the ones suppliers. Traditional and serves a purpose. But I am looking to see if soft close can be fitted by my kitchen fitter. And that is it.

Things I loved:
  • Great customer service, no pushy sells. And very helpful and patience.
  • Freedom to bespoke cabinets to your needs. I have a few odd shaped walls and I was able to maximise every corner without any problem. Not something the high street suppliers could or would do.
  • The drawer quality is the excellent. As good as some of the high end handmade kitchen suppliers on the high street, and I have done my homework and visited a few. Believe me.
  • delivery service - very good, good communication and very friendly.
  • the little extras, like cutlery trays are lovely and a real treat and didn't cost the earth.

Do consider a kitchen designer which they can recommend, in order to get the best out of the space you have. I did design my kitchen my self only because I have been planning this kitchen in my head since year dot. I love design and so was happy to do it my self. But little details you may not think of until its too late could be costly.

hope this helps
