Oh I feel your pain!
I had years of my DS going on about Star Wars (loves Star Wars Lego), I used to struggle not to glaze over. He used to talk about various vehicles and star ships and be surprised that I didn't know the names!

hmm, the lego star wars encyclopedia is a fun bedtime read. Hmm

DS was so cross he couldn't talk to me because I failed to tell the difference between Commander Cody and Commander Rex. They're clone tropper - they are the same.

I know of Kitt fisto, but I don't think I could point him out in a lego line up.

oh yes, i imagine i could get in a bit of bother with the different commanders too. they are all the same!

Me: "nobody I'm not playing"

Ds: "but you have to"

Me: "ok I'll be princess leia"

Ds: "no I think you'd better be chewy"

Little fecker :)

DS1 is going through a big Star Wars obsession just now, which in turn means that DS2 is equally obsessed so as to emulate his big brother. DS2 was telling me very seriously that the 'Lions have got the flag'. I couldn't recall too many big cats in Star Wars, so was a bit confused. It turns out he meant the Alliance. Bless.

Ah yes, but have you been asked to rank the characters yet?

I have had to bullshit rank my top 10 clones. (with reasons)

My most awful bad characters.

My best characters

Rank the films in order of greatness.

Why is my DH never around when these conversations occur?!?

Ds2 is 11 and we go through this periodically too. oh and Dr Who character is another one. If Ds2 thinks we aren't listening and have the glazed look then he'll stop, and start to tell us again and again and again until he's sure we have taken it all in Hmm

oh crap, how old are the children when they ask you to rank the characters?

is there any way of avoiding this?

There is a star wars cookbook too, if you like its on amazon we have the series, love my godsons and nephews, but my two ds are not going there. Enough! Sick of cooking star wars meals when they come and stay and that is not often enough to complain :)

I think the key is to show complete ignorance from day 1. That way they don't bother asking and wait for their dad to show up

You have to get used to the 'mummy is really stupid' look though.

I love the Star Wars coookbook. Grin "Pricess Leia Danish Dos" and "Dark Side Salsa", anyone?

Sarkyspanner I'm with you on that one.
Ds will ask me some random important Star Wars question and I usually answer "oh I don't know darling, you'll have to wait til daddy gets in".
Then off he goes to add to his encyclopaedic knowledge of the subject. Very sweet but sooooooo boring [ grin]
