Hello

Do any of you have favourite books on raising only children that give real insight into growing up on your own and best ways to parent?

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Sorry for the delay. Just finished reading You and Your Only Child by Patricia Nachman and Andrea Thompson (American book). Interesting observations but concentrates more on "you" and your & partner's attitudes to your childhood, expectations etc and how this translates into parenting, different styles, the "superchild" syndrome etc. Has chapters on divorce and half/step-siblings so covers many different circumstances.

I was looking for practical parenting advice and didn't as get much of that as I expected but it was a good book and I would probably recommend.

I've just ordered this book by Carl Pickhardt after reading some good reviews on the Web. Haven't got it yet though! I can let you know what I think to it
