Tearoom 35: Sun, sea and sand...

beanandspud · 27/01/2013 20:33

This breathtakingly beautiful island has unspoilt powdery white sand beaches, crystalline turquoise waters that wash over pristine coral reefs, and verdant green rainforest.

Scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and sailing trips are available and you can discover the island's charms on foot (with or without Mellors the guide) by mountain bike or private island buggy.

For those in need of pampering the spa offers a selection of luxurious treatments to soothe and heal both body and soul.

For dining, enjoy a freshly prepared meal at the tearoom, a picnic on the beach, or a delicious dinner in the oceanfront restaurant with its stunning sea views. There is Wine, Brew and good company, everybody is welcome.

Hi bean!

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 27/01/2013 20:51

The tearoom's distressed leather sofa and chinz armchairs look a bit shabby in this much sunshine - maybe we should get Mellors to dig out the cane garden furniture?

beanandspud · 27/01/2013 20:51

Hello! How was your weekend? I was thinking of the Family Scout's trip.

Can I pour you a Wine?

Mmmm, Wine. Weekend was good. SB started melting down towards the end of yesterday -- too little sleep Friday night combined with long day Saturday and too much excitement led to one overly tired & emotional three year old. Still, a good day. We're not long home and I'm contemplating doing what SmallBoy is (sleeping). How was your weekend?

beanandspud · 27/01/2013 21:12

Cheers! Small Bean and I had a fairly quiet time. Cleared (more) snow yesterday and did some jobs. Went swimming this morning and then managed a walk this afternoon when Mr Bean got home.

LBD - I'll see if we can get the sun loungers out as well, and maybe Mellors can mix up a few cocktails...

Oh look, I found some brand new wicker furniture in the Storage Room of Requirement. Let's use that instead. It's got lovely cool cushions, too. And there's a hammock.

Oh, and there are Planters Punch and Mai Tais at the bar.

Are we on Maui?

I love it here.

mistlethrush · 28/01/2013 09:30

The aspidistra looks as though it likes it here too. I do like what the NMBs have done with the palm fronds. Its such a pity that its on the warm side and with all the work he's doing Mellors seems to have got a bit hot Wink

Hmmm... yes....

:o
mistlethrush · 29/01/2013 08:57

These warm climes... its such a bind! Grin

Jacksmania · 29/01/2013 17:26

May this be the most difficult thing all of us have to do today :o

I know it's not breakfast time, really, but breakfast can be all sorts of things.

How's everyone today?

TitHead · 29/01/2013 19:13

Sounds like bliss. Can I relax in here for a while please?

beanandspud · 29/01/2013 20:11

Hello TitHead! Yes, of course you can relax in here, help yourself to breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Welcome!

Is it Wineo'clock yet?

mistlethrush · 30/01/2013 08:59

JM, you should know that its always wine o'clock if you want it to be.

Breakfast would be lovely thanks. I think I'll have some fresh fruit salad with mangos and pineapple in, then a lovely crispy croissant (if I can get my hands on one before the NMBs run off with them all to try to beat them down into surf boards). And a nice pot of fresh tea too I think.

I have bitten the bullet and got a bike fitting appointment set up with Islabikes... DH was wondering whether it is worth it, given the extra cost, but I would prefer to get DS something that will really encourage him to do cycling (and be suitable for different options) rather than get one that will be OK but less easy.... And of course I would prefer to get something that would last longer and fit him for that bit longer too....

Jacksmania · 30/01/2013 18:32

I think a properly fitted bike is a very good idea for anyone, adult or child. I remember struggling on an ex-boyfriend's mountain bike, and when I got my own, was shocked to find that I could fly up hills much easier.

So is 10 am a suitable time for wine o'clock? I feel like I need it intravenously, preferably.

mistlethrush · 31/01/2013 08:42

JM - definitely Wine

Tea / Coffee for anyone else? I think hot buttered crumpets with honey would be a good option for a grey windy day.

DS doesn't have any school trousers to wear today. Hmm Coincidentally I spoke to his class teacher yesterday about the saga of the missing trousers - and commented that the pair he was currently wearing weren't his, and weren't named. However, that pair didn't come home with him either. And I'd mended them before noticing that they weren't his too!!! One pair didn't come home after karate last term. One pair got swapped last Monday after games. Both of his pairs are clearly named, with well sewn on labels. He's gone in home trousers that are roughly the right colour, but have pockets on the legs as its the best we could do.

Jacksmania · 31/01/2013 20:56

It's grey and rainy here today, too. Has been all week. My mood, honestly, is in the toilet after a discussion with DH on Tuesday night.
Sometimes there are hidden darknesses in a marriage that you never knew about, and when you find out, it leaves you going WTF?

I'm not in a good head space. I feel like I've so much on my plate, and more just got added, and I would love to be able to say that so much of me is busy with trying to keep with this upcoming surgery, whenever it ends up happening, and I would just like to be cut some bloody slack!! But I don't feel I can say that, nor would it help if I did.

Feeling profoundly depressed and lonely today. I show weakness so rarely in RL that when I really feel at rock bottom, it's difficult to know to whom to turn.

Well, that's enough raw honesty for today.
Back to pretending I'm strong and ok.

Wine, anyone?
Jacksmania · 31/01/2013 20:57

trying to keep ---> trying to deal

Not sure where keep came in. Keep calm, perhaps? Confused

How are you, Scout? How's everything in Scout World?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/01/2013 21:18

Gosh, what a gorgeous location. The sea view is perfection.

I'm sorry things are so grim, JM. Feel free to offload here at any time.

Oh good god now that's cheered me right up :o

What a view. Mmmmmm....

::Passes JM the binoculars so she can get a better view of the -totty-- marine flora and fauna::

Scout19075 · 31/01/2013 21:30

It's up and down here, JM, thanks. I'm not impressed with my new blood doctor and am trying to decide if I should contact my GP and fight the hospital or not. I'm tired of medical stuff ruling my life.

MrScout just got home five minutes ago and is stressing me out. I should have gone to bed ultra early.
