I have been offered a place for my DS at Independent Place nursery in Dalston E8 and was wondering if anyone had any experience of it?

Have you been to visit?
I wasn't overly impressed, but it was over two years ago. and we only visited, didn't put my daughter in

Yes, i went about 5 months ago and like you wasn't overly impressed but have since heard good things.

I am taking my husband on Monday for a second visit to see if i feel different. The recent Ofsted report was good and it is £300 pcm cheaper than my first choice which is a lot to ignore.

Can i ask where you did put your daughter?

I was about to put her into Linden Children's Centre (she was 6 months old at the time) but then my mum stepped in and offered to take care of her (and she is now looking after both kids one day a week - thank you mum ). But loved Linden and Fernbank (liked the state options much more than the 'we offer French on Tuesday and Baby Yoga on Wednesday but won't actually talk to your kids' private options I saw...)

Go with instinct I say - and def do another visit. IMO a lot is down to personal preference too (we all parent differently I guess) - I know one person who didn't like Minihome but several who really rate it. Have friends with good experiences of Rainbow, Phoenix, Minihome, Hillside, Coconut... all in N16 I know. My daughter is at playgroup now, and v happy (went with instinct there too and didn't put her in the one I was going to)

Good luck, it's so hard isn't it?

Thanks for the advice, i am in E8 so nurseries in N16 are a little too far to go.

I like the Sebright centre but the waiting list is so long he will probably be at school before he gets a place!

Mapledene which is very handy for us won't take him for a whole day until he is older so that is a waste of time

We'll keep on looking!

Choccie - both mine are on waiting list for Ind Place, along with other places. I went for a visit a few months ago and did like it. And it has had good ofsted. I really think its a matter of instinct though. DD was at Minihome a while ago and is now at home with me as I'm on mat leave and I had real ups and downs with the place although its one of the most sought after in N16! V personal choice.

Thanks for that, i have taken the plunge and he starts on 1st June, yikes!!

The staff seem great and there is a really good mix of children.

We might meet at drop off or pick up one day!

Hello, I know Mumsnet are not keen for new posters to be too critical first thing, and I understand why, so I won't say anything about this nursery other than the suggestion that anyone interested in this nursery, which recently re-registered with Ofsted, should have a look at this Ofsted report. ofsted.gov.uk/provider/files/2417967/urn/EY481057.pdf ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/EY481057
