Nursery Vouchers

When is my dd entitled to nursery vouchers for free sessions she is 3 december.

She'll qualify for the nursery education grant at the start of the next term, so January. It's not vouchers though - you will never see anything, the money goes to whatever childcare/education setting you put her in, making it either free to you or discounted (depending on what it would normally cost).

des anyone know how these things work? my daughter is in a private day nursery owned by the asquith chain, will i get a discount off her fees when she is 3 in sept? she attends 3 full days (7.30-6pm) 50 weeks a year.

The Nursery Grant is effective for the term after the child is three, so if three in Septmeber you will get it from January.

It is for 38 weeks a year, 2.5 hours a day.

ah thanks so because her nursery is open more weeks than this will she not be elegible? does anyone else use a private day nursery and get the grant?

ginger - she will be eligable but you will have to pay additional bits in holidays more and in term time a bit less. For example if grant is £8 per 2 1/2 session, you can use 2 in one day (in my local authority anyway) so you will in effect get £40 off a week in term time and none off in holidays. Every nursery calculates it differently but the saving will be the same.
