nursery and potty training

What do your nursery do about potty training? Mine have said they will put DD into knickers for part of the day only as they struggle to deal with potty training with all the other kids, etc. [hmmm]. So far this hasnt been a problem as we have only just started potty training (2 weeks) and I have been doing something similar at home. But I feel its time she just went into knickers. She is only 2 so not sure if she is too young. So far today 2 accidents and 4 non accidents. All ok if I remind her/take her to the toilet every 20-30 mins. She will often tell me before but doesnt leave me much time to get her to the toilet or she tells me after the event . Am I being unreasonable to expect the nursery to be able to do the same as I can at home? I appreciate they have other children to deal with but I also feel what am I paying them for? I was ging to speak to them on Tuesday and say I now want her in knickers all day with toilet trips every 20-30 mins and see what they say. But thought I would check out with other MN whether this is normal practice for nurseries or any tips on what to say if they tell me they want her in nappies again for part of the day.

They wont remember to do every 20 mins. If youare still having to toilet her every 20 mins after 2 weeks she is not really "trained" yet - sorry! try lengthening the time at home and seeing if that helpss. My HV said that if you are emptying the bladder that often they arnt really getting the sensation of a full bladder and getting to know for themselves when they need to go. It would be a shame if she had accidents a nursery. If it becomes a problem you may want to concentrate on getting it better at home and then extend to nursery rather than having to do it all at once. Can she have a potty rather than doing the mad dash to the loo? Mine liked the independenceit gave them of not needing mummy to put them on the loo. They took themselves. Good luck, hope this is helpfull

At 2 she will have a staff:child ratio of 1 to 4

I'm not sure that looking after 3 other children they will manage every 20 mins - I know I would find it very hard

sorry me again - I agree that alternating between nappies and knickers will cause confusion. Same goes for pull ups. If I was busy playing and I could wee my pants rather than bothering going to the toilrt I would, wouldn' t you

Thanks everyone. D has nursery tomorrow for 2 days. Once I finish work on Thursday afternoon I am going to just put her in knickers and see how she goes. Just not sure how I will tackle leaving he house . This is all such a minefield.
