Hi,

I'm thinking of starting a Creche and wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of websites that would give me advice and what to do.

In which country? Regulations will vary a little depending where abouts you are located.

If you are in England, then a good starting point is the SureStart and Ofsted websites.

SureStart Link : Creche National Standards
Ofsted Link : Information for Day Care Providers

To get started with an application, contact your local Early Years Team at your borough/county council - They may be known as EYDCP. You can use ChildcareLink to find a contact number/web address.

Do you have a childcare background? Would you be the manager of the Creche, or would you need to get someone else to do that job role, due to yourself not having the relevant qualifications and experience?

Hope that helps.

You Complete STAR!!!!! I have been trying the surestart website but being new to it obviously wasn't putting in the right search words iyswim.

Thankyou - it will hopefully help me to decide whether or not I can turn my idea into a business.

If it would help, feel free to contact me directly to discuss your idea. I've been involved in childcare one way or another for quite a while now, so you may benefit from my view point.
CAT me, or try Google searching my username.

My sister-in-law started a creche/nursery and says she hated every minute of it bar the initial idea. She no longer has any involvement with anything to do with the early years sector etc although the creche she started is now a nursery and is doing well and is well established/respected. It's a long story but the short of it is be prepared for a lot of hard unpaid work, no gratitude, hassles that beggar belief for little or no reward/profit, financially in any case. You really need to have a serious love of early years and all that it entails. Merely adoring your own little ones (and that of your friends) is not enough. I don't want to put a damper on your enthusiasm, just a little forwarning. Good luck and hope it all goes well for you.
