Sickness after starting nursery, when does it get better?

My DD (11 month) has started nursery FT just after Christmas. She has been off 3 times already with various bugs (hand-foot-mouth, cold wth fever, vomiting) I know this has to be expected. In your experience how long until it got better, I.e. you saw some more resistance in your DCen?
Any tips for coping while working ft?

It took both of mine 9-12 months I'm afraid to get through the worst of it. I only keep them home when they are very unwell. I.e if they a have a cold I still send them as they are distracted

DS1 - he seemed to have a permanent cold/cough for about 4 months once he had started nursery. Fortunately it was never bad enough to keep him off so work wasn't an issue. He did get chicken pox at 2.6 but I was on maternity leave at the time so keeping him off nursery wasn't an issue. He is 6.5 now and rarely ill Smile

DS2 - barely remember him being ill at all once he started, certainly not to the extent that DS1 was. I swear he has the constitution of an ox Wink

I'd say three months minimum. But it does improve honestly and the weather's getting better and they'll be outside a bit more (am convinced fresh air helps). Hang in there, it's hard. Can you share the caring leave with partner? I insisted I had first dibs on going into work for the first month when I returned to work both times, figured if I managed a whole month employers would be fairly impressed. After that dh and I take it in turns to 'work from home' or take caring/annual leave.
