Hi
Does anyone have any good recommendations for nurseries in Halifax or Huddersfield? I am looking to put my 1 year old in nursery so most interested in care for babies. Or even any to avoid?!

Many thanks

Hi Dippy

My DD has been at the Mill Cottage Montessori from four months old. She is now 3.5. It's the most wonderful, caring environment. I liked it immediately when I viewed it because it felt so calm and happy. Here is the website. They also accept all childcare vouchers and funded places from 3 years old.

It's just off J25 of the M62, towards Huddersfield (near the Old Mill pub/restaurant).

Hi
Thanks, I'll check it out. I went to see one last week and it was so hectic/busy/crowded that it made me think I'll have to give up work. Thanks again

Hello to all again
Any other recommendations? This Montessori nursery doesn't even have a place for my daughter in a year's time!!! HELP!!!

There are a lot of really good ones on the pennine side of Huddersfield, Holmfirth way on. Is this too far out for you? I know there's at least one on the Halifax Road as well, but not sure how good it is. Might be worth a look though.

Belledame I was really tempted by the Mill Cottage for my DD, but I work in Sheffield so it was a bit too far in the wrong direction.

That's too far. I have had a look at about 7 now and I'm liking the Portland nurseries the best so far. Thanks

Hi. On the hunt for a decent nursery in Huddersfield myself and just wonder how you got on and where you plumped for (if you don't mind saying)? Plus any comments from anyone re Huddersfield nurseries they use or viewed would be gratefully received!

Ark in Halifax is AMAZING - forget the kids you'll wanna go there yourself!
Superb location, amazing staff & care, you're kids will progress so well.
I am super-fussy and even I can't recommend it enough.

Hi
I'm in Eureka now. Its ok. I chose it mainly because the senior staff member had been there for 17 years and seemed very good. I am super fussy so I would not say it is perfect but it is ok.

Hello
Just wanted to say I moved nursery as my husband's office moved and I miss Eureka! Now I'm with another nursery I can see how good they were.

I'm reviving this thread in the desperate hope of a response. Any recommendations on childminders or nurseries please, please let me know. DD is a few months off 2 now. Need something around Lindley/ Birkby.

Il Nido - in Edgerton - is very good. my friend's children went there from being babies, until starting school.

DS - is 14 now, but he went to Nursery Rhymes, which is on Woodhouse Hill in Fartown. It was quite busy - but the children all seemed happy enough. Also used Little Angels, but that is at Lowerhouses - so may be too far away for you. He only went to Little Angels to after school club- and in the school holidays though. ( and was older than your DD)

There is another one on Halifax Road at Edgerton - which is meant to be 'quite good' (whatever that means) Harlequin Nursery.

Many thanks. I will keep trying. I think all the good ones don't have places and I've been behind from the start on this.
