Family holidays, fun and relaxing or horrible nightmare?

I have very fond memories of family holidays as a kid, there were 4 children so my parents would load us up in the family wagon and we'd tend to cross the channel to france, which was brilliant as I recall. Problems is, talking to my mum I gather her memories aren't so pleasant as she recalls all the fighting between us (which to be fair was pretty constant with three boys within 4 yrs of each other), the complaints about long drives and the financial cost - no doubt we all wanted to do stuff and get ice creams etc.

What do you guys like about family hols and what do you dislike?

If you're feeling particularly generous and kind-hearted just now you could fill out my online survey if not just drop your thoughts in below and i'll assimilate all the useful feedback.

Why do you need us to do your survey? What are you gathering research for?

Hi PotteringAlong,

My name's Miles, I am a father and a husband (in no particular order). The purpose of the survey is to assess attitudes toward holidays, particularly family holidays and find out which bit's people like and which bit's they don't like. This is with a view to maybe setting up a company that provides more of what people like and less of what they don't like - if that's even feasible.

I have a very crude website that's basically there to host the survey and explains a little more about what I would like to do but really I'm not trying to taint people's opinions by saying what I think, I want to listen to what other people think.

Still don't get why you're doing this research.

Hi Bibbetybob, should I be replying to you directly? Not really au fait with the protocol here.

So the purpose of the research is to hear from people in their own words what they like and dislike about holidays. I might assume certain things but then again I might be wrong, hence asking.

Yes but why?

Reported. There is an area for these things and I think you need to register with mnhq op. They'll advise further I'm sure.

For the record my family holidays were similar to yours sound. In fact, are you my db?

I would like to hear as many different opinions as possible to test the validity of my assumptions. If you're asking to know what I'm thinking of offering as a solution then I would prefer not to say so as not to taint people's responses by directing their thinking. The last question on the survey does reveal the idea and ask for feedback though so why not check it out?

Hey CarcerDun, sorry I'm just getting to grips with the forum. I had posted in a survey thread and someone recommended I look at the travel section.

Could be db, were we really that bad?
