I am a postgraduate research student at the University of Greenwich, studying the trend in the UK to drink alcohol at home rather than at licensed premises. More women now drink at home, but there is little research to understand their consumption patterns and drinking habits or to explain the popularity of home drinking.

I am particularly interested in understanding the drinking practices of women over 30 who drink alcohol at home and the factors that contribute to their decision to drink at home. The research will also explore women’s experiences of drinking and determine whether, in their view, drinking at home contributes to drinking in a problematic way.

The study begins with a survey about drinking at home which will take you 5 to 10 minutes to complete if you decide to take part. It’s anonymous and completely confidential. At the end of the survey there will be an invitation to be interviewed so you can give your views and ideas in more detail. If you are interested you will be sent more information and if you opt in, an interview will be arranged. To find out more and take the survey use this link:
