Leaking Kushies

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to stop my kushies from leaking, I'm having to do a complete clothing change every 2 nappy changes as they just do not seem to be secure enough around the legs.

My DD is 2 weeks old and weighs in at 8 lbs 11oz, so is it just a case of waiting for her to grow into them?

Would adding an extra liner help?

Any advice would be really appreciated, as this is starting to make me think I should just use disposables as I used them while in hospital and I had no leaking issues.

The main issue is that wet nappies are waking her up at night so I'm having to change her then and typically change her clothes and give her a bit of a wash as it leaks into her baby grow and growbag, and she will then not go back to sleep, where as with the disposable she would sleep for 6 hours (compared to 2 hours with the reusable)

Many thanks in advance

NBM

I an afraid Kushies are pretty useless IMO. They completely put me off washables 5 years ago when they were all I had tried, I thought they were all leaky but Kushies are particuarly bad for it. I'm sure they are not recommended til 10lb or so when their legs have filled out you might find they are a lot better. Also not many All in ones will last the night anyway, you are better off with a 2 part system.
The only thing I would suggest is putting a fleece soaker over the top, try Nappy wardrobe, Babybots or Nappyweb for these.

Kushies were terrible - I had them for DC1 and they always leaked. However, when I put motherease outers over them they worked fine, meaning I actually used the Kushies for all 4 of my DC.

Sorry but they're rubbish! I got loads on freecycle and wondered why someone was giving away some new and some barely used. I soon found out. I bought the little lmab set and it was fab for a newborn. She's still in them now at eight months and they rarelt leak - even at night.

Oh dear, someone else who is going to reiterate that Kushies are probably teh worst nappies that there are - although tehy do compete with Bambino Mio prefolds for that top spot!

Where do you live? Some councils do nappy trial schemes - you get to borrow a selection of different nappies for 2 weeks and decide which ones work for you. Or many Lollipop advisors also offer that service.

If you can't find someone local to you then I can do a nappy trial scheme by post.

You could try putting a wrap or fleece soaker over teh top. It could be because tehy are still new tehy need a few more washes to get upn to full absorbency. Or it could just be taht the fit isn't that good.
