A friend has kindly given me a ton of reusables. She openly admits she doesn't separate washing so they are very grey.

Tips to whiten them up appreciated - line drying not possible at mo due to weather- thinking of using napisan or White vinegar?

Will a 60 wash help or hinder?

What sort are they - do they need a wrap or are they all-in-ones/pockets?

You shouldn't use napisan if they have any elastic or PUL, as it weakens it. Sunshine is the best thing, wrong time of year though!

Tbh, if they are clean otherwise, I'd just put up with the grey - or how about dying them bright colours (Dylon should do it)?

If you want them white I guess you'll have to use bleach, I can't think what else will work. You'll then have to wash thoroughly to get rid of all trace of bleach. If they've been darkened by other clothes though I wouldn't worry too much - I'd worry about her dark clothes that will smell of nappies though

Not sure this is an eco-friendly way of doing things but I'd soak them overnight in a bucket of water with bleach in it, and then do multiple rinse cycles in the machine until you can't smell the bleach anymore.

Or Ecover do a laundry bleach powder.

Hi everyone. Really not keen on introducing bleach into my machine so guess napisan is the only way forward. Will look at Ecover too.

They are a mixture of cloth- sandys, tots bots, modern baby (but these have colour in them so maybe not a good idea to use napisan) and all need seperate wrap.

Harecare - Ive been washing my wet nappies in with my other whites. I need to stop that dont I?

I used to wash them with all our whites for DD1, but then noticed our clothes being a bit stinky with DD2 so had to stop. I personally wouldn't use bleach to get my nappies white, I'd just let them be off colour, but if its whiteness you want napisan and ecover won't work. They'll kill bacteria, but won't remove dye. It might be worth doing a 90 degree wash the first time.

I've tried a lot of different stuff, sunshine is the only thing that works. I think there's a thing about lemon juice though, I'm not sure how it works though.
I've started moving the clothes drier round the house to catch the sunny patches! What about some exciting wraps to cover them up like these.

Sorry to hjack, but I wonder if any of you can help me?

I've been using Eco-Bumbles stuffed with terry squares and motherease wraps on my 2 year old DD since she was 3 months old.

They've been great, but she's been cutting molars this past couple of months and her poo has badly stained the nappies and wraps

I've tried washing at 60 and 90 to no avail. I use a combination of washing powder and napisan (I dry pail).

In the past good ol' sunshine has worked wonders, but it's a bit dull for line drying yet - any suggestions?

Fold them the other way so you can't see the stains? Begin potty training? My DD 2 is out of nappies except for afternoon nap and bedtime and somehow saves her lovely staining poos for then! I just stop noticing...
