Started using bamboozles today on 4 week old - questions

(4 Posts)

I've put 4 week old DS in reusables for the first time today and love them. But I have few questions as a first timer (sorry if they are obvious!):

- I have 4 wraps, 2 pvc and 2 fleece. When should i use which? The pvc fit better but don't seem as comfy so are the fleece for overnight perhaps?

- I have flushable and washable liners (won a job lot on ebay). It seems logical to use the flushable for milk poos as it's very liquid and once weaning, use the washables for solid poos. Is this logical?

- when out and about, how do you deal with poos? My thoughts are to put the flushable liner and poo into a nappy sack and into the nappy bin and the whole nappy into a wet bag to bring home. Once we're weaning (a while off yet), what would you do with the poos if using washable liners? 'm thinking of change rooms that don't contain a loo, only a nappy bin.

- the nappies are very bulky on a little baby? How tight do you put them on as they seem to be quite tight when i sit him upright to wind so i lossened them a bit.

- overnight, is it a good idea to use the bamboo booster?

Thanks for taking the time to read!

lots of questions, but will try:

do you have size 1? The snaps on the front can be adjusted, so I would use the smallest setting. The paper liners, I would use once the baby is weaned as milk poos would seep through paper. I tend to use fleece boosters at night.

Wraps. I use pvc, but lots of people like fleece.

Travelling. I use a nappy bag. Tots Bots do one, and so do Little Lambs. And also can be used as a PE bag later if you don't think that's too hmm

I found disposable liberal incompatible with day bf poo, sort of slid off The nappy. M uch prefer reusable liner for catching it/ slowing it down.
I make sure there's a gap at the front to prevent ds being cut in half when he sits up. We use fluffles at night stuffed with whatever comes to hand. Bamboo boosters are best in my opinion. Hth.

Re: liners, I wouldn't bother with them for liquid poo, it just soaks through them into the nappy anyway, plus it washes out so easily. But you might choose to use a fleece liner (washable) to wick the wee away and keep the skin dry.

Once weaning is going well, the poo will start to get more thick and sticky and you would need to scrape it off (gross, sorry) so you will want to use a disposable liner so you can just pick the whole thing up and stick it in a nappy bag for the bin. I think once the poo is more adult-like and can be rolled off without too much mess, then you can use your washables again (not got to that stage yet myself).

Hope that makes sense smile
