Mumsnet surveys

Tell 5 Alive all about your 'me' time (survey open to all, regardless how much 'me' time you have!) and you could win a £250 John Lewis voucher

5 alive want to find out what you do during your 'me' time - if you're lucky enough to get any!

By 'me' time, we mean time to yourself away from children, partner or work, when you can let loose and have some fun. It doesn't matter if you don't get much 'me' time; we still want to know what you think. The survey is open to all Mumsnetters.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and enter your details for a chance to win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

AND, for another chance to enter the prize draw, please tell us all on this thread what you get up to in your 'me' time, whether it's playing air guitar to the radio, or going out for a muddy bike ride - you can 'fess up here .

Thanks and good luck
MNHQ

I was suprised that MN was not one of the "me" time activities listed

Talk to the chickens, or go to the cinema for lunchtime showing of something chosen by me, not the kids.

what a lame survey. why would we practise speeches or start singing ffs?!

If I have some time when i don't have to do anything (I guess this is 'me-time'. ugh.) I generally flop on the sofa and watch tv / do nothing.

Done.

I go to Sewing Group on a Monday night and the other nights I go to the gym or fitness classes.

I do flop on the sofa sometimes but forgot about that, possibly cos I think of it more as "wait for dh to finish the dishes" time

PrivetDancer, I thought the same thing. I don't live my life as though I was starring in a rubbish advert.

Report
ohmeohmy · 21/04/2010 15:22

they seem to think we all live in a DFS advert.

BornToFolk · 21/04/2010 15:23

I agree PrivetDancer! What a weird selection of activities.
During my "me-time" i.e. when DS is in bed, I watch TV or read, knit and MN. Sometimes I go out with friends or DP for dinner or to see a film.
Same way I spent my leisure time before I had DS really...

Hmmm, yes, a survey written by someone who has never seen a mum at 7pm on a weeknight.

I only ever sing in the car when I am driving for work. It's bad.

Time alone at home consists of a nice cup of tea and watching the news in peace. I live a desperately sad life.

A few years ago I treated myself to a Luxury Pamper Day at Stobo Castle. A friend of mine said "Oh what a good idea, I could come too" and I thought "Noooooooo!!!!!" as I just wanted the day to myself!

I'd love to go again.....

Reading trashy magazines, watching trashy TV...
Oh lots of trashyness going on here... LOL

Oh yeah and a bit of walking, and studying Open uni when I can get the chance....

Its SO hard to have "me" time!

Report
Sidge · 21/04/2010 15:40

Done the survey but as my life is not a TV advert for panty liners my favourite 'me time' activities aren't listed

I wouldn't even call it 'me time', it's more 'the kids are in bed, I'm stuck in the house alone so how can I make the best of it time'.

Not quite such a catchy tagline though!

Knit without a small child pulling at the needles. Cross-stitch without a small child pawing at the fabric or running off with the threads.

I am sad. Or maybe the survey was just rubbish.

Want to know if anyone ticked anything on their list.

Mine was have a bath. And to be honest I think that is essential for my mental wellbeing, it isn't really what I do in my "me" time, I don't have that sort of spare time. There is always something that needs doing.

Grumpily wonders off thinking perhaps survey wasn't aimed at me....

Booboobedoo · 21/04/2010 16:06

In the week I only get 'me-time' if I go to bed early to read.

Reading without some bugger trying to talk to me - my idea of bliss.

Also, playing show-tunes on the piano and singing REALLY loudly.

Eating fatty food in front of Miss Marple or similar.

I'm quite social really. Sound quite misanthropic reading the above.

Report
AvadaKedavra · 21/04/2010 16:11

DownyEmerald, mine was having a bath too, not quite Me Time as it's an essential daily thing, but its'a s close as I get to it anyway.
