Hi everyone,

This survey is open to all Mumsnetters.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2Shop voucher.

If you're interested, please click here to complete.

Thanks Flowers

Have done, but found it a bit odd it seemed to presume that I was part of a couple. As a lone parent I have all responsibility for finances not through choice!

Like Hollie, I've completed the survey but the assumption that respondents were all part of a couple was a bit strange. Also, the question about children's ages - mine are adult and have left home, but I couldn't bring myself to tick the "I have no children" box, so used "17+", but there's a huge financial difference between my situation and someone with kids in late teens/early twenties!

done- and agreed about the partner thing. I do have a husband but could not have accurately completed if I did not.

Started doing it but it kept asking about we. I am single so felt it does not apply to me.

yes the partner thing is very bad. also the range of options for some questions does not cover all potential answers

e.g.

My DP/DH is wholly responsible for researching/planning and the decision

I do some of the researching/planning with my DP/DH but my DP/DH makes the final decision

I make the final decision but my DP/DH is involved with some of the researching/ planning

I am wholly responsible for the researching/planning and decision

We are equally responsible for the researching/planning and the decision

Don't know/NA

what about if one of you does most or all of the research/planning but both of you make the final decision together?

Agree about the presumption of a partner. Very insulting, especially when the first option is that a partner does all the thinking.

I'm a (very mature!) student but there was no box for that.

There was no answer applicable for me to tick for a lot of the questions. I have a DH

Done.

I agree with Pumpkin though. I do all the research and then we make the decision, but wasn't given that choice. I lookafter most of the finances but always run things past DH if its joint money.

BellaVida · 28/10/2014 10:18

Done. Same as previous comments. As I have more time, I tend to do the research, then we discuss the options together and jointly make the decision.

Report
FreiasBathtub · 28/10/2014 10:31

Done - same problem as Pumpkin though. In general I do most of the research and then we make a joint decision (except for anything to do with technology which is 100% his domain!).

Also - think Natwest was missing off the list of banks.

Thank you to everyone who has completed the survey and thank you for your feedback. Sorry about this, we have now tweaked some of the wording so please do complete the survey - open to all!

I came on to post what Pumpkin Gordino has said. I do the researching, and we make a joint decision. I doubt we are the only bones doing this. Also, they ask if you have switched companies, but it felt like if you didn't you hadn't looked.
I researched switching phone company, and decided for the 50p I could save per month for a year it wasn't worth the hassle.

Done. If a financial ad comes up the tv though, I switch off mentally... I couldn't tell you about a single one of them.

Report
RandomMess · 29/10/2014 10:53

I've completed this but seems incredibly similar/the same to one I did a while ago????

I too completely switch off at all financial ads apart from the various payday loan companies I couldn't tell you what a single one was even about!
