We want to know about you and the cars you buy - are you a petrol head who dreams of updating their ride on a regular basis? Or are you driving ancient wheels around and just don't care?!

Please take a few minutes to tell us by completing our survey then add your details at the end and you will be entered into the prize draw for one of the fab prizes up for grabs - these are:

  1. Purple Grape Catering are offering a three course meal for six people cooked in the comfort of your own home. It will include canapés, a 3 course meal and half a bottle of wine per head and a waitress. They will come to your house and cook, serve and clean up.

  2. We have 2 £250 vouchers to spend in any Tesco store or at any Tesco fuel station.

    and finally:

  3. You could win four tickets to your choice of either the Clothes Show, Good Food Show or Masterchef live

    More details here

The survey is open to all Mumsnetters with at least one child and who have a car - any car - company included.

    Thanks
    MNHQ

All done. Fingers crossed. Fuel vouchers would be amazing.

Done. Survey was slow to respond and load, and I have to say quite patronising. It presumed you only made decisions if dp agreed - no mention of us who's exdp don't even drive, or that are in fact single.

250gbp for fuel would be five tanks for me. Which is about ten weeks petrol. Would be AMAZING.

smokinaces - sorry you feel like that - there was always a NA code for questions which were about decision making and we did have options for you being wholly responsible for decision making.

Done - we're just about to go through the process of trading in one or both of ours for a new car

Done - but found quite difficult as the way we buy my car is very different to the way my DH chooses his.

His is a company car - still chosen by him (within certain constraints) but mine is always an older, cheap car which we buy from completely different outlets.

Not all questions allow for this, i.e. 'how much do you spend on a car' and 'how often do you change you car' both only allow one answer, but we have 2 very different answers.

I have abandoned this survey because, let's face it, there really is an assumption running through it that I must have a DH/DP.

Done - fingers crossed!

I don't get the second question, or rather, what box to tick for our sports car, there doesn't seem to be an option for them, or an I being thick?

I think the data is going to be difficult to interpret because they don't ask your gender do they - so male MNers answering will turn a lot of those answers into rubbish.

Yeah that assumed female gender and current DP. Silly errors - bit village.

I just know my amazing ideas for the perfect car will turn up at next year's Motor Show and I won't get any credit.

Agree that the survey seemed to assume that 'family' must include two adults. I am a single parent and so obviously make all car-buying decisions by myself.

Done. I was very Blush to admit that I was an advertiser dream!

(as an aside, I'm also Blush to realise I leave in the SE. I'd always put S before and was very confused that it wasn't an option)

I'm not single any more so can answer including DP, BUT I still found questions 10 and 13 profoundly uncomfortable.

Sorry. So many assumptions being made.

fwiw q 13: do you find now you are a mother that you have more say in the decisions about choosing a car.

More than what? More than before you were a mother, when your DP would choose the car? I'm not sure what that pertains to.

and q 10, do you find it difficult to deal with the financial transactions without asking your DP to do it all for you.

??????????????? really?

and I find salespeople in dealerships fairly patronising to everyone, men, women, just anyone who goes in there. Not that they are sexist but you couldn't select the 'patronising bastards' option, it had to be 'patronising and sexist bastards'. So I didn't comment on that.
