My favourite hot drink is coffee. At the moment I'm drinking a Machu Picchu one by Cafe Direct. Absolutely perfect.

I need coffee in the mornings but then I like tea and the occasional hot chocolate in the evenings.

Tester here

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes overall I love it, great size and really easy to use.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

Carte noir, kenco, suchard hot chocolate and tea. I would say the hot chocolate was my favorite however I've purchased other coffee ones (Costa latte) that are the nicest.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

Extremly easy, in fact my 4 year old DN can use it (obviously closely supervised).

- Do you think youll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes but not for tea (I think tea is better from a ketttle where you can make to your own strength. Also the kenco coffee tasted too much like instant and in my opinion was not worth the extra expense of the discs. I will definately still use it for 'posh' coffee and hiot cholates though.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. I love it.

Good old Costa Americano. Either plain and black run through twice or as a latte with same amount of milk as one run though.

Nothing like a smooth black Americano to start the day. I used to be a real coffee addict but limit it to one a day now having a few cups of tea throughout the day.

My favourite hot drink is steamed hot milk with a splash of vanilla syrup and a generous dusting of cinammon. It's the most comforting thing in the world, especially when propped up in bed, like a big hug in a mug

What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I liked it, the machine is small and neat; I thought the water container was 'flimsy' and struggled to get it into place the first couple of times until I got the knack of tipping it, but on the whole it looks lovely and shiny. I think it looks like it would fit into any kitchen and not look out of place

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

we got kenco, suchards hot chocolate, café crème and breakfast tea, the hot chocolate was a favourite with the children, the coffee with OH. If I am honest I wasn't impressed with any them but I think if I were to buy discs I wouldn't choose any of those anyway but would go for the latte type drinks, I think it was probably a poor selection to send out for product testing

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

It was very easy to use, the instructions in pictures were poor and we had to resort to looking on the Tassimo website to find out how to add more water to the half cups that we got on some of the drinks selections. Simple written instructions are far easier to follow and when I buy any product I expect clear instructions on how to use it, sadly more manufacturers seem to be going into this picture thing meaning that products are not being used to their full potential. I was appalled at the first half cup of coffee and thought it was rubbish until my daughter looked on the website to find that you could add more water - this was not clear on the pictures.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Personally - no, however my daughter is in love with it and will use it long term with latte discs, which I hope she will share occasionally! I rarely make only 1 cup of anything so, for me, it is far quicker to put the kettle on and make cups or a cafetierre (sp ) I think if I was making a drink just for myself on a regular basis then yes, I definitely would use it.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend it as the machine is lovely and I am sure the better quality discs will be far nicer. I would put across my view that if you were making several drinks it would be slow and fiddly but for maybe a couple at a time then it would be definitely worth the money.

FourAndDone Mon 07-Apr-14 11:23:02

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I love the size of the machine, very neat and compact.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?
Was sent the same t-discs as the other testers. Have also ordered others which I haven't tried yet.
The children love the hot chocolate.
I love the twining a tea, DH loved both coffees.
I personally thought that the hot chocolate tasted watery, however have ordered some milk creamer discs s o hoping these give the chocolate a creamier/milkier taste.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

The machine is easy peasy to use. My 6 and 7 year old can do it without any help and I personally think it's much safer than making a drink with the kettle.
As another tester mentioned I didn't realise you could 'top up' the drinks (which only filled to half way in my mugs) so ordered new mugs!! I now realise that you can top up but still can't quite get the hang of it! blush

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes! As a family we love it. Have ordered about a months worth of drinks for the machine and will pick them up when I see them on offer.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I have already recommended to friends and family and let them try a cup from mine. grin

It has to be a good old cup of tea grin. Usually made straight into a mug but does taste better from a teapot (or if someone else makes it wink). I like it strong enough to stand a spoon up in and it's one of the few things that I always buy the same brand - PG tips or Dorset tea.

I very rarely drink coffee but do like a hot chocolate now and again.

honeyandbutter Mon 07-Apr-14 11:59:38

Non-tester How do you like to enjoy your favourite hot drink?

I am also a big fan of a chai latte which I make myself at home with a tea masala mix that contains lots of spices including ground ginger and cinnamon. The key is letting the tea simmer so all the spices are infused. It is amazing! I also love a mocha or hot chocolate when I'm out with lots of whipped cream (although only as a treat!).

There are times when I really want one particular drink and nothing else is good enough although I wouldn't want to drink those drinks all the time. If I crave a coffee it is usually a black Americano or a good lungo with a spoonful of coconut oil in. Earl Grey with lavender or rose is so refreshing in hot weather. I don't like milky drinks so all the lattes, mochas, etc are out.

The thing I could not live without though is bog standard builders tea. When I go on holiday I find I have an unquenchable thirst no matter what else I drink when I can't get it

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I thought that the Tassimo Vivy was very compact, visually appealling and looked nice in the kitchen. My husband didn't expect the tassimo to be so small and really liked the look of it.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

We were sent the breakfast tea, kenco coffee, cafe creme and suchards hot chocolate. We have tried all the discs.

Overall we didn't have a favourite out of all the discs. The vote would probably go to hot chocolate.

The youngest in my family liked the hot chocolate, my eldest didn't like the hot chocolate. He said it was very watery. I agree with the comment about it tasting watery, however, it was drinkable but not as nice as what we get in the coffee shops. My husband liked the taste of the kenco coffee and finds it very similar to what he gets in mcdonalds in the morning. The cafe creme was okay - it tasted very strong. I didn't like the breakfast tea - it isn't something that I would make in the tassimo.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

The machine is really easy to use. I didn't know about adding more water. Will probably have to work out how to do that. However, it was really easy to set up and is so quick to use. My husband can grab a quick coffee in the morning before he goes out to work in seconds - which is so handy and convenient and means he doesn't need to stop off to buy one. The instructions that they give with packaging isn't very clear - so we are unsure if we are using it correctly. I didn't know that you could remove the cup holder and that this would adjust the amount of water in a cup?? I think that you need to look online to find out more information.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would continue to use the Tassimo in the future. I think I will purchase some Costa discs and might try and different type of hot chocolate. It would depend how easy they are to use and what the results are.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Would I recommend the Tassimo to friends and family - yes. It is very convenient. I am not sure that the drinks are like what you can buy in a coffee shop - will try a different type of disc to find out.

unquietmind Mon 07-Apr-14 13:19:56

How do you like to enjoy your favourite hot drink?

Made very hot but then given some time to cool. It's a bit disappointing to be given lukewarm drinks in coffee establishments.

Where possible, I like my hot drink fresh. Fresh tea, fresh beans. I obviously cant have this all the time so its instant a lot at home, but I do enjoy freshly ground coffee. Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance is good too.

Best coffees are in independent retailers on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday morning whilst I read the papers and the DC's are entertained. Bliss.

None-tester - I had the best hot chocolate ever last night. It came on a wooden spoon and was a lump of Belgian chocolate. Wonderful.

Very neat machine. Overall I really like it. Does not take up too much room

Tested English Breakfast Tea, hot chocolate, cafe creme and medium roast coffee. Loved the suchard hot chocolate the best. Was prepared to be snobby about the tea but in fact I liked it but prefer my first cup of tea to be massive so tend to make it with a kettle. Medium roast coffee a bit bitter. Didn't like the cafe creme.

I am looking forward to trying other discs and will definitely continue to use it. I would recommend it.

Easy to use and no fuss. Best bit is being able to have a hot chocolate quickly.

I am delighted with the size and design of The Vivy it fits in very well with my decor as my kitchen is pink & black so a fab addition.
My favourite disc's where the Suchards Chocolate & Kenco Coffee something for the start & finish of the day.
We found the machine very easy to use and operate but also went to the online information about extra water but it was not a problem.
I will definetley continue to use it as I find it so quick & easy to use, just fill/press/serve & a great drink ready in seconds with all the flavour of freshly ground coffee/chocolate beans.
I have already had a friend purchase a Vivy and my son is trying without any luck to talk me out of mine, sorry son you will have to put one down on your wedding list.

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I loved it, sleek and compact, it looks lovely on my kitchen side! It's a shame you don't get a full cup of anything though. The amounts for each drink aren't really enough and adding more water just waters them down.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

I tried the hot chocolate and tea, DH tried both the coffees. The hot choc was my favourite.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

It took a while to set it up and figure everything out due to there being no written instructions, just silly pictures that are difficult to understand.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

We will continue to use it and I have already bought more pods with the £20 off voucher you get when you register the machine. It will be good for making guests and DH coffee as I don't drink it and always worry I've made it wrong. This is a foolproof method. The pods do seem a little pricy so would probably only buy/stock up when on offer somewhere.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would and have!

I like decaf coffee but find it really hard to find nice decaf, it is either too strong and tastes too much like real coffee or too weak and tasteless. I do like to indulge in hot chocolate with a little whipped cream on top!

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think its great and I like it a lot. I like it because it is small, and fits very well into a compact kitchen. Its so easy to use!

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

Carte noir intense, kenco coffee suchard hot chocolate and English breakfast tea. I would say the carte noir was my favourite.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

Very easy. The only issue I had was when setting it up for the first time-the machine didn't recognise the yellow disc despite trying it several times.

- Do you think you will continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, definitely, it is a real treat to have such nice coffee.

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I really like - it looks very smart in my kitchen and is just the right size. I am thinking of getting another one for my home office.
I also like the fact I can easily buy a range of the T-Discs in my local supermarket.
I liked the colourful packing and would consider giving it as a gift in the future.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

I have tried all the T-Discs provided - my favourite is the hot chocolate, my husband preferred the Kenco one.
Not so keen on the Crema Intenso - I had expect this one to be the nicest but I found it a bit weak and not that intense. Good froth though.
I do intend to buy some of the costa T-Discs.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

I thought it was fairly easy but as I think has been mentioned above I would prefer some written instructions alongside the pictures.
Also I'm a bit unsure when the machine is actually ready to make the drink-is the light meant to flash, or does it only flash when the drink is actually being made?

I haven't seen anything about extra water until I looked at the other feedback. It would be useful to include this in the instructions or at least direct people to the website.

As an aside I like the little storage department - I like neatness and this also means I won't lose the yellow T-Disc.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, definitely. I enjoy the drinks and the ease of not having to boil the kettle.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why no

Yes, I would have no problems recommending it and as I have said above I would consider giving it to people as a gift.

Thank you for letting me be a tester!

I favourite drink is a cappuccino, a proper cappuccino with strong coffee and a good head of foam (rather than those insipid ones which are just overly mikly coffees with a pathetic sprinkling of chocolate on top)

I've heard good things about the VIVY so I expect their cappuccinos are the former rather than the latter smile

Filimou Tue 08-Apr-14 13:44:27

What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I liked the design, it is nice and compact and so doesn't take too much room up in the kitchen. It was quick to make drinks which is great when I've a million things going on in the morning and the drinks are very nice.

Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

I received the Twinings English Breakfast tea, the Suchard hot chocolate, Kenco medium roast and Carte Noire intense. You never really get a full cup and so you have to just put up with half a cup of hot chocolate or half of the Kenco one (adding extra water to them made them really watery and weak), however the Carte Noir one was quite strong so it worked out better using that coffee and adding extra water.
The hot chocolate (even though it was only half a cup) was delicious, s that is my favourite

How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

very easy. Just pop the water and the disc in, pop your cup underneath and away you go.

Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely. It was so quick and easy and the drinks were delicious. A nice decent coffee with my breakfast on a Sunday without having to mess about with my coffee machine was heaven....

Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend. There is a good range of drinks, you can generally get them on offer at one or the other of the supermarkets and its really easy to use and keep clean. Also its not too invasive on your countertop (we only have a small kitchen so this is a big issue for us).

I'm a tester...

What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I am really pleased with the Vivy, I have the tiniest kitchen and it fits in perfectly as it's so compact, it looks smart and is so easy to use.

Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

I received the Twinings English Breakfast tea, the Suchard hot chocolate, Kenco medium roast and Carte Noire intense. I have tried all of them - I liked all of them. I was impressed that the tea was quite strong although I think i'll still make tea with normal teabags/kettle as it's nicer and cheaper. My favourites were probably the coffees.

My 5 year old tried the hot chocolate, he loved it and helped to make them.

How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

Really easy! I found the smaller leaflet that was stored in the water feed bit (what's the word i'm looking for? grin ) easier to understand. I admit when I first looked at the leaflets I thought I didn't understand how on earth to put it together but once it was all out of the box it was easy.

What I love about the machine too is that you turn it on and it's pretty much ready to go, no waiting around for it to heat up or anything.

Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Absolutely - I am so happy with it so thanks! I am already looking on the website for how to spend my voucher, there is a lot to choose from. I am going to treat myself to a milk frother so I can make warm frothy milk to go on the top of my coffees.

Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would totally recommend it, it is such an easy machine to use and makes some lovely drinks. There are a lot of drinks to choose from and it's great that the machine doesn't just limit you to just coffee.

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?
Looks fine. Like the pro looking silver spout. Compact. If it was any smaller I wouldn't get a cup under it, so this is about as small as it can go.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

So far I have tried the breakfast tea, which I really liked. I normally have my tea very strong - this had a more refreshing taste than my usual Yorkshire tea.

I bought some Costa Coffee Cappuccinos to try out and it was lovely. Will update more when I've tried out the other flavours.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

My 8 year old made my cappucino and a hot choc for himself and his brother (I was watching). Easier than our Dolce Gusto because with the DG you have to judge how much water to use and stand over it the whole time so you don't ruin the drink by letting it run too long. This is just push a button, and you can wander off to do something else quickly.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. We've had the Dolce gusto for 5 years and it has started leaking from all over so we needed a new machine. I was in two minds whether to replace with new DG or a Tassimo, but really like this machine and the variety of drinks, and how easy it is to store the capsules (they fit in boxes in a shallow drawer, whereas DG boxes are huge cubes).

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. Really easy to use. Ideal if you want a special hot drink each day.

Finally managed to get hold of my machine today from the courier company by driving to the local depot and waiting ages while they looked for the 2nd box - anyway on with the test.......

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I like the look of the machine although it is actually not as compact as I expected. It was easy to assemble and use, although I hated the pictures and would have liked some written instructions. I haven't looked online for instructions as to how to get a fuller cup yet. I also think that the button panel is quite flimsy and wonder how long it will last.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

I have the same 4 that the other testers have had - the Kenco Medium Roast is a nice strong coffee. The Tea even though it was my usual brand was not really to my liking it was stronger than I would usually make it, not very big or particularly hot, I don't think I will use it for tea again. The hot chocolate tasted watery, I didn't add any milk to it and I couldn't drink it. The strong coffee was passable but nowhere near as good as a Nespresso espresso.

I have had the Costa Latte and a decaf Cafe Hag at my friends and really liked them so I hope they taste as good through this machine.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

I managed to follow the picture instructions although it wasn't as straightforward as it could have been to set up. Making the drinks is really simple but only with the standard amount if liquid as I couldn't see any instructions for varying it,

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why

Yes for quick cups of coffee once I have mastered the water amount, and I will let my DC try the hot chocolate. I will be buying some Costa products next time I'm shopping to try too. Not for tea though.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Maybe, I will but I won't be rushing to shout about how wonderful it is or inviting everyone round for a coffee morning. However I will happily make any coffee loving guests drinks and let them draw their own conclusions.

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?
OMG I don't think I have ever been so excited to be selected before! Yes I love it! Got very excited looking at all the drinks I have yet to try. Its the variety that excites me I think, and there are some on the website I've never heard of before. I like the size of it too - doesn't take up too much space on the work top. I will fully make up my mind when I know how long it lasts without breaking though

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?
I tried all the ones that came free with the product test. The Carte Noire and the Suchards are nice (I was impressed with how un-clumpy the hot chocolate was, if that makes sense). I was impressed with how nice the tea was, although I'm not sure if I'll bother to use it for a simple English breakfast tea - I will probably try some of the more exotic teas though. I was a bit unimpressed with the Kenco coffee (I am unimpressed with Kenco instant too - I'd like to see some Nescafe brands available instead) but we found some Costa ones on offer in Tescos and they rock. So the Costa Latte is my favourite overall - don't think you can tell the difference from the coffee shop product. I'm keen to try the Cadburys hot chocolate and some of the more novel teas from the website.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?
It's really easy - but the instructions make it hard!!!! Sorry but the pictures are useless. It took me some time to figure it out, and when I did it was quite simple!

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, its staying - I have lots more to try yet. I'll probably go to more occassional use though due to cost.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely good to recommend for those with little space - but I'll wait and see if it breaks first!

Non-tester here: I like a good strong black ("like my men" a couldn't resist the Airplane quote!) coffee first thing in the morning, and after that maybe a hot Ribena on a winters afternoon. dH on the other hand drinks copious cups of tea, & coffee. We've been together 24 years and I still can't predict what he will choose to drink. DS loves hot chocolate.

Would have loved to have tested this.

My favourite drink is de-caff Tea (Yorkshire brand) is by far the best and really can't tell the difference.

Also love a bedtime hot choc, has to be made with full fat milk and proper cocoa powder with barely half-a-teaspoon of sugar.

I desperately wanted to be selected for this trial, I've ummed and aaaahed about a coffee machine for ages, and I fancied the look of this one. It's a lot of money to spend though if you don't like it.

Judging by the feedback though, I don't think I wouldn't like it!!

I need at least 2 cups of strong black coffee to wake me up. I then move on to decaff for the rest of the day. My favourite treat is a coffee mocha but I only have one in a coffee shop. At home, in the evenings I love hot chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream but I don't often have one because I just don't seem to have time.

Non-testers: How do you like to enjoy your favourite hot drink?
Well, where do I start? I am a hot drink tart! I start the morning with hot water and lemon. First cup of proper tea when I get to work. peppermint or chamomile tea the rest of the day. Unless... I have cake. Have to have normal tea with cake. Or if it's biscuits, I'll have coffee. Usually a standard instant decaf, but ideally (if in a café), a halfshot-skinny-decaf-latte. Then before bed a Horlicks or hot chocolate with melty marshmallows on the top
I also like hot oxo, and won't say not to a hot ribena.

MontysMum22 Wed 09-Apr-14 05:04:24

I am largely a tea drinker although I love hot chocolate as a treat now and again in terms of what I go for in a coffee shop I often go for the Chai tea latte don't know if this is available to get in the discs?. However we do have two very keen coffee drinkers in my family and the more special the coffee the better as fas as they are concerned my husband is particularly fond of expresso.

My favourite hot drink is definitely hot chocolate! I don't care what brand but obviously Cadbury is the best! I have a hot chocolate every morning (even in the summer!) with a bit of marmite on toast. Or, in the evening, I make one where I melt the chocolate powder on top of a mug of milk in the microwave and mix it all in, mmmmm!

themitch21 I literally just learned what a mocha is from your post! I have never tried a coffee yet so if you're telling me a mocha has the taste of a hot chocolate, I am all for trying it!!

I also like mixing vimto or a blackcurrant drink with hot water but I've not had one of those for a while now!

mjmooseface Wed 09-Apr-14 16:10:36

There was once this huge book shop called Borders and it had a cafe upstairs and we had a brief new years day tradition of going to get a book from the book shop and then going upstairs for a hot chocolate. They were massive! And came with cream on top and marshmellows... Ah, good times! :D

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?
Just not as easy as instant coffee, barely easier than ground. A right pain in the posterior when making drinks for several people.
It looks very plastic and delicate, and appears to be a toddler magnet.
Id like it better if DP didn't mention the words 'Eco disaster' and 'waste of resources' every time I used it.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?
Breakfast tea, kenco coffee, cafe creme and suchards hot chocolate.
The tea smells foul, couldn't bring myself to try it, but a regular tea drinker said it was 'OK' I liked both coffees, but not in preference to my usual cafetiere. DS liked the Hot Chocolate but I felt it was very poor and not worth the expense of buying discs.
- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?
For black coffee for one it was no more complicated than instant coffee. Except when one disc must've split and filled everything with coffee grains. For making several drinks together (4 or more) it became a regular PITA.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Having looked at the website I would probably consider buying more discs should they be on offer.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
No I don't feel that it justifies the expense.
I've tried giving it away & no one was convinced, I got a text from my SIL offering me hers so I guess I'm not the only one a bit underwhelmed by it.

So easy my child is able to use it

Tester reporting in!

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?
I like the size, we don't have a huge amount of worktop space so it fits in neatly.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?
We've tried all the ones that we were sent - Suchard chocolate, kenco coffee, crema intenso and breakfast tea.
The dc's love the hot chocolate and I am drinking the coffee! I found the tea a bit strong but I left it running and forgot to top it up with water initially.
I think the serving sizes are a bit off, what claims to be a large drink doesn't really fill much more than half a mug - I like pint pots of tea!

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?
Easy to use, I find the water filling a bit of a faff as I have to pull the machine away from the back of the work surface to tip the container in.
It also doesn't seem to use that much water from the reservoir which surprises me.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?
DH had a look at the price of the T-Discs and was initially was horrified, but we agreed it was an evening and weekend drinking machine. I won't be swigging coffee all day from the machine.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, absolutely, I've been roadtesting it on friends and family and everyone likes it.

Very grateful tester here:

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

We were all really impressed with how small it is. The fact that it roughly takes up the same space as a kettle is a huge selling point. Kitchen gadgets like this are a luxury item and can just become additional clutter, gathering dust and taking up too much space. That's when they end up on eBay within a couple of years, I imagine that the small space this takes up may save it from this future in many households.

I was really surprised how excited my Dad got when it arrived, he was literally making a coffee for himself every time he came into the kitchen, we live on the farm with him so I became a bit concerned he was going to drink all of the pods before I got to try them!

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

We tried Kenco Coffee, Crema Intenso, Suchard Chocolate and Twinings tea.

Crema Intenso was definitely the best although the chocolate was also really good. I'm a big tea fan and was very unimpressed with the tea it produced, it was quite a strong brew (which I like) but the amount produced was just far too small and adding water just seemed to make it barely warm.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

Extremely easy to use, even the children liked having a go at putting in the pods. Although they were not allowed near it when it was making the drinks as they're still quite little.

The only issue I had was that some of the drinks seem to be luke warm once you add milk. I'm not sure how hot they come out of the machine, it would be nice to make some of the drinks hotter. This is only a very minor issue though but one that I think it particularly relevant to parents who rarely get to drink their drinks straight away.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, we've ordered some more pods as it's definitely a way to have easy and convenient high quality coffee as an everyday part of life. The only things that will limit consumption in our house is the relatively high cost of the pods, my Dad will definitely be asked to contribute to their purchase as he seems to have consumed around half of them on his own so far! He's been wedded to his Italian coffee percolator since the eighties but it's only been used once this week.
I wouldn't ever buy tea pods for it.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes but many of them wouldn't consider it simply because of the cost factor. They have all enjoyed having a quality coffee on me though!

Tester ->

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

I did like it overall yes - I like the neat size and is quite smart and attractive. I think it would fit happily in any kitchen. Size and appearance wise. It's quick and I found the little discs fun, but I suppose they won't be a novelty forever!

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

Tried them all that we received. I liked the coffee one best, the cremo intenso one I think it's called? I didn't think the tea was quite... right somehow, and I had to add milk to my hot chocolate, but I suppose everyone likes their drinks slightly different.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

Once you've set it up and done it once it's easy! Super easy!

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I wouldn't use it for every hot drink I drink, because of the cost, but I will use it for sure for nice drinks, guests, treat drinks.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm getting one for my brother for his birthday. I think they're so compact and handy for a quick and nice coffee. So yes I would recommend it! I'll think about of I have anything else to add too.
Very happy with it anyway, slotted next to my kettle! Thank you!

Tester Update

My daughter registered the machine online and, using the £20 discount code they sent, ordered a total of 64 drinks for slightly over £15 (good when compared to Costa prices in store). The drinks she ordered consisted of Costa Latte and flavoured Lattes along with the Milka hot chocolate (which she had been told was the best).

These drinks take the machine to another level - completely different quality to those sent with the machine! For anyone wanting to purchase drinks it is definitely worth making use of the discount that came with the machine but also Tesco had many flavours on offer at 3 packs for £10. The Milka hot chocolate is to die for!

I still hold that, for me, the machine would not be practical, I drink far too much coffee along with OH to be able to afford to use it all the time and am not disciplined enough that I would limit myself to one or two a day. It would also be faffy constantly filling the water tank for so many of us. For anyone that can control their taste buds it definitely takes hot drinks at home to a far nicer experience. I am just going to order my daughter some nice latte glasses and she will continue to use the machine. I just wanted to update so that those who haven't tried other brands of drinks may be tempted and be able to enjoy their machine more fully. smile

TESTER

Thank you so much!

*Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?
Suchard Hot chocolate - first one I was a little disappointed - my own fault for expecting proper milky hot chocolate from a machine that uses water. Be warned - these things must contain crack, one is never enough and the T disks disappeared very quickly. Very very quickly...

Tea - wasn't expecting much from this, there's no real bonus over using a tea bag apart from speed from boiling a kettle, but it was an ok cuppa.

Kenco Medium Roast - to be honest about the same as a normal instant coffee, in my opinion not worth the extra cost

Kenco Crema Intenso - Nice coffee and favourite of all coffee drinking guests

I have used the £20 discount for more hot chocolate and also Costa Cappuchino

*How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?
Really very easy - few awkward minutes setting up, all instructions are diagram form which was infuriating trying to work out if the descale disk should be in or out (I settled for in, i hope that's right) After that no problem whatsoever. One tip - if you misplace a disk so it is punctured THROW IT AWAY DO NOT REPLACE!
Coffee granules. Everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

Also be careful sliding water tank in, do not have a finger underneath as it suddenly snaps in very quickly giving a big red blister. I only did that once too.

*Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, though probably not to the extent I have done, I probably wouldn't buy tea or plain coffee for use by me (though will keep some in for clients) as it is much more expensive but will definitely keep a good stock of hot chocolate and am optimistic about the cappucino

*Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, it's a good price, great size for single or couple, certainly cheaper than buying coffee out

*What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?
Overall I like it. I have a teeny tiny kitchenette and it really does take up hardly any space.

It has been really handy for clients - I work from home and so have avoided the embarrassing 10 minute disappearance to kitchen for drinks, and when I've had small groups in I've been able to leave it on dining table with a big jug of water alongside other refreshments. Everyone has found it easy and more comfortable to help themselves than using my kitchen.

My only niggle is that for me the drinks are just not quite hot enough. I like my hot drinks really hot and am often doing something else while I drink them. These go cold really quickly. That's the one thing i'd tell people to bear in mind when recommending.

Apart from that nice little machine, addictive hot chocolate, low mess (lot's of packaging on disks though I'd guess less than takeaway cup from from cafe)

Would be good for children before using kettle, or older people worried about weight of kettle or carrying cups of very very hot drinks.

- What did you think of the TASSIMO Vivy overall? Did you like it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Very compact, compact, easy to use machine, looks tidy on the work top, easy and efficient to use.

- Which T-DISCS did you try? Which one was your favourite?

We were sent the English Breakfast tea, Kenco coffee, Cafe Creme and Suchards hot chocolate. We liked them all, I liked the tea and it was quick to make. The coffees were too strong for me but smell lovely. The Suchard chocolate was slightly too weak, but silky and subtle, not a strong taste of chocolate. Tried the Cadbury hot chocolate which we all preferred, much tastier and milky. Also tried the Costa Latte, it was my favourite, really good.

- How easy or difficult did you find the machine to use?

After being confused y the overly complicated instructions in many languages, I used the smaller leaflet. Had problems with the start button but Tassimo have been quick to replace the machine. Making a drink is so easy and very quick, and the machine doesn't get hot so is not a worry.

- Do you think you’ll continue to use the TASSIMO Vivy in future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I will definitely use it for latte and cappuccino and I hope that in future they do a low sugar Cadbury like the highlights we use now. Don't think I will use it for tea, but may try Yorkshire tea if they bring it out! Will only buy the T discs when they are on offer though and I feel a pang of guilt when throwing away the packaging. My teens will use it too, it has been a hit with them.

- Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

First thing in the morning I grind fresh de-caff coffee beans and make a fresh cup of coffee in a filter machine. This usually ends up being transferred into an insulated cup and gulped down between school drop off and getting to work.
During the day I usually drink fruit tea and try new ones often.
For a treat I have a weak cup of early grey tea which I love but cannot have much caffeine so it has to remain a treat, which I am sure makes it taste even better.

Non tester here! My favourite hot drink is a hot chocolate over Christmas with a heavy shot of amaretto. Probably nothing beats it in the world. Must have a large dollop of whipped cream on top and choc shavings though!

I love a cuppa in the morning to help warm me up & wake me up.

A mug of hot chocolate when in Costa or Cafe Nero is a treat when out shopping.

I like the occasional coffee; but keep some in the house foru FIL as he enjoys it more.

Non tester, best drink is Chai tea made with syrup, made so strong as to taste like milky cough mixture.

Best healthy drink is brown miso soup

My best hot drink is the 1st coffee of the day - drunk HOT when it's only me up and about. I need this one to kickstart me out of my zombified state!

4 month ago I ould tell that my favorite drink is coffe, made from freshly ground coffee beans. I adore this smell but when I get pregnant unfortunately It was first smell which made me sick. That's why now I am back to hot chocolate and black tea with sugar and milk smile

I love coffee and Tassimo know what they are doing in this regard! I thought I died and gone to heaven when they released the Costa range. My favourite has to be the Costa Latte, its like having my very own barista in the comfort of my own home.

Non tester - I'm definitely a latte lover.

Non -tester, I am a hot chocolate girl most of the time, with cream on top (but no marshmallows), sometime though a weak cup of lady grey is what I fancy.

My house has a huge cupboard of teas and coffees as DH loves to have lots of different hot drinks (Assam, Earl Grey, Darjeeling, Lady Grey etc)

My favourite drink changes but at the moment I love white hot choc in the evening after DC are in bed. I even stretch to bunging in marshmallows if I'm feeling decadent.
