MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 31-Mar-14 16:20:51

Miele are looking for 10 Mumsnetters with allergies to test out either their S8 Silence Plus EcoLine Allergy, or the S8 Silence Solution vacuum cleaners.

Here’s what Miele say, “Build quality and efficiency have always been at the forefront of our vacuum cleaner design, with improving your lifestyle at home as our goal. Our Hyclean dustbags are an important functionality of the Miele vacuum cleaner being the most effective way of keeping dust and dirt from re-entering your home. Each bag is made from a special kind of fleece that gives you nine layers of filtration designed to capture even the smallest of particles and its automatic hygiene shutter ensuring dust and bacteria is not expelled back into the air when you dispose of it, making it perfect for allergy sufferers.

Built with allergy sufferers in mind, the S8 Silence Solution and the S8 Silence Plus EcoLine Allergy detailed in this thread both feature our new HEPA 13 filter designed to remove up to 99.999% of particles* from the air making them perfect for all allergy sufferers including dust, pollen and asthma.

With all of these key features combined, the Miele vacuum cleaner system facilitates the capture of the smallest allergens that are not visible to the naked eye, such as bed bugs, dust mite and dust mite faeces that typically cause irritation.

(*according to IEC 60312)”

Those selected will be sent either a Miele S8 Silence Plus EcoLine Allergy (RRP £300.00) or a Miele S8 Silence Solution (RRP £240.00).

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters who have either pet and/or dust pollen allergies. Testers will need to test out the Miele vacuum cleaners and give feedback over the next couple of weeks so please only apply to take part if you’re available over this time.

If you’re interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

magnolia74 Mon 31-Mar-14 17:51:11

Ohhhhhhh we sooooo need this!!!!

MrsCharlesBrandon Mon 31-Mar-14 17:52:37

Woo hoo! early on! Me, DH, and DS have dust and pollen allergies.

We're extending this year and DH will suffer so much regardless of how much i clean. (MNHQ, can you add that to my reasons please?) thanks

SG1976 Mon 31-Mar-14 18:37:12

I suffer from an allergy to dust, so I would be very interested to give this a test drive. With four kids, two dogs and mud stomped in from the yard, is a Miele good enough?

SG1976

I have to take a stupid amount of inhalors because of allergies, this would be ace

heritagewarrior Mon 31-Mar-14 18:43:50

I'll do it! I have dust, pollen, dander and feather allergies, and live in a house with carpet in every room except the kitchen (courtesy of the previous owners)!

BankWadger Mon 31-Mar-14 18:44:43

My floor is never clean because my estate agent thinks a decent vacuum cleaner is above my station. I have hayfever and live on a very busy road. I'm going to be a sneezy itchy mess in a couple of weeks <does best sad face pic face and sends gin to MNHQ>

Sleepytea Mon 31-Mar-14 18:49:51

I would love to try this Hoover... My dyson is a bit poorly and just isn't removing dust as well as it should and I seem to have permanently itchy eyes.

Done, I would love to try one of these. Me and the dds have pet, dust and pollen allergies.

LookHowTheyShineForYou Mon 31-Mar-14 19:02:35

I'd love to. Allergies make hoovering an absolute nightmare.

grin eine Probefahrt? Schon eher ein paar Proberunden durchs Haus.

I wold love this for poor DD2 who is up to her eyeballs on inhalers/antihistamines twice a day.

Fluffycloudland77 Mon 31-Mar-14 19:07:50

I have an asthmatic husband who is allergic to our cat.

BendyBusBuggy Mon 31-Mar-14 19:13:34

Done, I'd love to try one of these out. I have a Miele now - best vacuum cleaner I've ever had - but it's old now and I'd be really interested to see how technology has moved on. (And I have dust mite allergy)

PickleMobile Mon 31-Mar-14 19:16:28

Done, would love to try a Hoover to help us with our asthma and that doesn't make dd screech as it's too loud!

Done! My Dyson vacuum cleaner has seen better days, and I'd love to be able to vacuum floors/bedding etc without needing to leave windows open afterwards.
It's a balancing act in tree pollen season, let the house dust out, but let the tree pollen in. It's antihistamine city here in late spring/summer!

BuffyFairy Mon 31-Mar-14 19:29:41

Done, I'd love to try this. DH and I are both asthmatic and suffer from pollen, dander and dust mite allergies. Our Hoover is an ancient hand me down and I hate it!

HorseyTwinkleToes Mon 31-Mar-14 19:46:38

Done!

BitsinTatters Mon 31-Mar-14 19:48:37

Done * itches eyes *

MsGee Mon 31-Mar-14 20:57:11

Ooh signed up. I'm in hayfever hell already.

DIddled Mon 31-Mar-14 21:00:15

Yes yes yes please. First sniff of spring and my DH is lying on the sofa all red eyed and sniffly. Sadly our old vac has developed a terminal wheeze due to the builders using it to Hoover up boulders!!! sad

DatsunCogs Mon 31-Mar-14 21:03:08

I haven't applied for this as we already have a Miele hoover and it's amazing! (possibly too excited about a vacuum cleaner)

Beepbeepnow Tue 01-Apr-14 06:58:52

This would be brilliant to try out for my asthma and dust allergies! Fingers crossed!

KateBeckett Tue 01-Apr-14 07:14:10

Would love to try it out - 2 adults with dust allergies, one of whom has psoriasis! The irony!

napoleonsnose Tue 01-Apr-14 07:18:28

Teenage daughter (16) has recently been diagnosed with asthma so this would be great to try. I struggle to keep the house dust free so this might go some way to helping!!

Paleodad Tue 01-Apr-14 08:28:02

Signed up, anything that could ease my asthma would be amazing!

Badvoc Tue 01-Apr-14 08:32:08

Oh yes please!!
Both dc ill already with their asthma!
<weeps>

FuckingFuck Tue 01-Apr-14 08:39:14

mummytime Tue 01-Apr-14 08:49:18

We'd love one - Asthma and Hayfever here!

Badvoc Tue 01-Apr-14 08:52:34

...oh god...hayfever! Nearly time for that too!
<weeps a bit more>

CrazyHhas5kitties Tue 01-Apr-14 09:12:17

I'd love to see if one of these is up to the 'job' as my Ds is Asthmatic with Hay fever & a grass pollen allergy <poor sod> & to top it off he has AS so my crappy Vax scares the life out of him confused grin smile

idleweiss Tue 01-Apr-14 10:45:49

This would be amazing! Currently borrowing a Hoover as mine is broken and me and my girls suffer from dust allergies! Mine are so bad at the moment! New flat is carpeted and sooo dusty, thanks to really old crappy dust filled radiators I can't clean!! Grrrr! Have to dust every day and Hoover so much!!

Sunny2013 Tue 01-Apr-14 10:59:17

Please add me to the testing list for this fabulous machine .....

May09Bump Tue 01-Apr-14 11:00:42

completed - the reduction in allergens and noise level would be a god send!

ophiotaurus Tue 01-Apr-14 11:03:45

I'd like to be added too. I have asthma and am allergic to pets/ pollen.

Sunny2013 Tue 01-Apr-14 11:07:26

I will be delighted to put either the Miele S8 Silence Plus EcoLine Allergy or the Miele S8 Silence Solution through rigorous testing .... No matter what I do within a day of hoovering , thanks to a wood burning stove it 's like I never hoovered ( but I DID honest HUBBY, I didnt spend all day on Mumsnet ).... So from hoovering beds, floors, walls and more ... carpets, wooden floors , and tiles too this machine will be tested from home to Timbucktoo!!! Even the curtains , car and ceilings wont be forgotten , I can see my hubby now jumping for joy in the event that this would actually happen , so please make my day and his come true and say Sunny 2103 we will send you a wonderful Miele machine to make your Spring Cleaning Dreams come true.

Love the silent option for hoovering in the evenings!

Faverolles Tue 01-Apr-14 11:25:53

I'd love to try this, we all have asthma and allergies here, particularly ds2 who really suffers and ends up off and on steroids throughout spring and early summer as his asthma flares up.

dannydyerismydad Tue 01-Apr-14 11:41:52

Please, please, please, please, please pick me!!

DS is absolutely terrified of our Oreck. I need to try something more silent and less scary. I'm up to my knees in dirt. He never lets me clean hmm

fideline Tue 01-Apr-14 11:43:34

Yes please. We have lost count of our allergies in this house.

ThePearShapedToad Tue 01-Apr-14 11:46:57

Yes yes yes please smile

onedogatoddlerandababy Tue 01-Apr-14 11:51:57

Done, anything that means wet dusting/wall washing is a thing of my past would be amazing!

wecantallbeperfect Tue 01-Apr-14 12:08:22

Yes please! I have asthma as do two if my DD's. My DH has severe hay fever. I also have a severe allergy to dust mites, anything that can tackle this lot would be fab!smile

LadyMaryLikesCake Tue 01-Apr-14 12:26:59

Done.

My dyson's on its last legs.

stinap Tue 01-Apr-14 13:22:24

Keen to try out a new vacuum that could help our families hayfever. Daddy suffers from asthma and myself and our 8 year old twins suffer badly with hayfever.

PooFlower Tue 01-Apr-14 13:29:51

Would love to try this.

Binkie69 Tue 01-Apr-14 13:51:39

I would love to try this my 2 youngest & I all suffer from allergies

Naicecuppatea Tue 01-Apr-14 13:56:39

As with previous posters, our family has asthma and dust/pollen allergies for which using the Dyson doesn't seem to be helping with. Would love to try this.

LackaDAISYcal Tue 01-Apr-14 14:01:24

ooh, yes please. Our dyson is on it's last legs and we are super skint so can't afford another decent vacuum cleaner.

And we have hay fever/asthma/pet hair/dust mite allergies abound!

Done.

RustyParker Tue 01-Apr-14 14:11:36

Completed application <fingers crossed!>

haydoe Tue 01-Apr-14 14:23:38

I would LOVE to try this. All 3 of my boys and my husband suffer from allergies and the MIL has damaged lungs from working in a maternity unit so we HAVE to be dust free!

TeamSwitzerland Tue 01-Apr-14 14:48:22

Done xsmile

Excellent! I have applied. Keeping the house as clean I have to for the many respiratory health problems with have in the house I'm also ways looking for something to make it easier!

Badvoc Tue 01-Apr-14 16:00:37

Done!

BobaFetaCheese Tue 01-Apr-14 16:21:06

Done. If it's better than a Dyson Animal I'll marry it.

sassolino Tue 01-Apr-14 16:26:29

Applied, as I have huge sinus problems. Our current hoover doesn't help much with dust mites

Done diddly done

madhairday Tue 01-Apr-14 17:13:50

Done. with three of our family suffering with significant allergies I would love to see if this could make a difference to us.

Millipedewithherfeetup Tue 01-Apr-14 17:17:04

Done and marking place. Good luck one and all.

Mogz Tue 01-Apr-14 17:28:26

Would love something like this!

Pjran Tue 01-Apr-14 17:49:13

I need a new vacuum and suffer dust mite and paper allergies. My current vacuum is a very old broken Dyson and would love the opportunity to have a clean dust free home again.

HappyCria Tue 01-Apr-14 18:33:28

Done and fingers crossed

Marcelinewhyareyousomean Tue 01-Apr-14 18:38:22

I use a Dyson and Hoover and neither do the job 100%. I can't afford to try a third brand when they both work but I'd really like to see what all the Miele fuss is about. I've heard really good things.

Done, and hoping very much I get chosen sneezes

Trelou Tue 01-Apr-14 20:05:16

Oh yes please I would gladly test and review this as family have a lot of problems with different allergies

Lagoonablue Tue 01-Apr-14 21:30:19

Done

Mandown Tue 01-Apr-14 21:45:54

Yes please! Looks like our poor little 17 week old has inherited daddy's allergies :-(

maximum4 Tue 01-Apr-14 22:51:06

All signed up and ready to roll - pesky allergens we will defeat you ;)

Heathcliff27 Wed 02-Apr-14 00:11:01

Yes please wine

sesw Wed 02-Apr-14 05:47:37

We are big on allergen avoidance in this house but our present vacuum cleaner is just not cutting the mustard so want to try out new ones specifically designed for allergens!

AmethystMoon Wed 02-Apr-14 07:19:24

Done and now crossing fingers! This could be great a quiet vacuum that helps my allergies...here's hoping.

Tealady1983 Wed 02-Apr-14 08:44:15

Canning add onto my application my son also has asd and goes bat shot crazy everything the dam vac is on.

Tealady1983 Wed 02-Apr-14 08:56:15

*Can I and *every time stupid auto correct x

Kudzugirl Wed 02-Apr-14 11:24:03

Done- our lives are a bloody misery at this time of year and am SICK of buying expensive 'solutions' that are anything but.

isitme1 Wed 02-Apr-14 14:25:44

Would love to see if this helps dc and their allergies!

CarCiKoTab Wed 02-Apr-14 15:02:44

I have a Dyson with it's washable filter's and all that it really does do what it says it does, not sure whether the Miele could live up to the Dyson.

Hi, I've just signed up and would appreciate being part of this test more than I can say!

One thing is, I forgot to mention DH's asthma on my form. If you need a house that ticks that box as well please count us in for that too.

Giflow Wed 02-Apr-14 18:54:01

Just entered the trail survey, either the S8 Silence Solution and the S8 Silence Plus EcoLine, would work a treat for me. I hope the suction is extemely good as some hoover tends to be rather weak and not very effective on picking-up. An added bonus would be that I would have a smaller hoover, currently have a Vax

Ohhelpohnoitsa Wed 02-Apr-14 19:10:19

Done. gingerly awaits email....

winkywinkola Wed 02-Apr-14 19:42:57

Pick meeeeeee!

MrsCt2B Wed 02-Apr-14 20:16:56

ooh yes please!!!

RandomMess Wed 02-Apr-14 20:18:35

Haven't signed up because I don't think they'll pick me as I'm already a miele converts sad

RubyFlint Wed 02-Apr-14 22:13:27

DH says I've never been so keen to get my hands on a vacuum cleaner! Like he knows anything AT ALL about them hmm

busymummy3 Thu 03-Apr-14 00:05:39

Would love to try one of these especially for the upcoming summer months. Sats for Dd2 GCSE's for Ds and As levels would love to think hayfever may be helped by one of these vacuum cleaners Please pick me!

HughJarrs Thu 03-Apr-14 09:24:38

DD and I are others with the whole hayfever, asthma and generally miserable combo!

EmilyPinkOrBlue Thu 03-Apr-14 14:58:45

Hi I would love to try one of these vacuum cleaners I suffer terribly with dust more allergy all year round no getting away from it so would love to see if this would help my symptoms at home! Thank you

charlieandlola Thu 03-Apr-14 15:49:50

Done cross fingers and sneeze

badasahatter Thu 03-Apr-14 17:16:56

Done...allergies at the ready!

BellaOfTheBalls Thu 03-Apr-14 17:40:09

Oh am I too late to this party? I have a newly diagnosed asthmatic son who also has pretty nasty eczema, DH has eczema & hayfever as well and I get dermatitis. We're a delightful if a little flaky bunch, honest.

I also have a Miele vacuum that's 10 years old now. I love it but I have an entire house of beige carpet & 2 very messy boys. Believe me, it would be well tested in this house.

Please?

Khaly Thu 03-Apr-14 18:27:16

Would love to test as I have a dust allergy

simonthedog Thu 03-Apr-14 20:40:07

YES PLEASE my dyson died today and we all suffer from hayfever here. I will give lots of feedback!

aristocat Fri 04-Apr-14 00:26:28

smile

Writing this with streaming eyes due to the smog outside. <waves pathetically> I'd love to test this out.

Winterbluessummersoonish Fri 04-Apr-14 07:31:50

Yes please, have filled in grin

PurpleAlert Fri 04-Apr-14 08:13:34

Have filled this in- DH has allergies and both DDs have eczema. We have a dog which depending on the time of year DH can show allergies towards.

I have a dyson which is ok- but it's so noisy!

SoonToBeSix Fri 04-Apr-14 15:08:58

Hope I get picked , it would be perfect.

alialiath Fri 04-Apr-14 16:26:29

As an asthmatic I'd love the chance to try out the Miele S8 Silence Plus EcoLine Allergy in the hope that there's finally a hoover on the market that tackles dust and pollen efficiently.

calypsoblue Fri 04-Apr-14 16:59:14

Dog hair ,egg and pollen allergy and a busy chaotic household would love to try one out :-)

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Sat 05-Apr-14 08:10:17

I would love it, with three asthmatics, one eczema sufferer and two cats. Also my ds 'lent' my vacuum to a mate who has fucked off with it and my ancient Dyson can't handle anything.

ldt87 Sat 05-Apr-14 18:36:44

Done, would love to try this. Have heard good things about miele.

AuntyDiluvian Sat 05-Apr-14 19:48:05

Oh, man. I really want this to treat my carpets to a better clean than they get from a gentle nuzzling from our current dreadful Hoover Alyx. I hate hoovering, it makes me sneeze & wheeze with a dust allergy & asthma, and have a crawling baby which means I need to do it all the time!

Blatherskite Sat 05-Apr-14 22:24:58

I would love to do this! Hayfever season starts earlier and earlier every year and my HEPA Dyson is absolute rubbish. Please save us from a Summer or sore eyes and sleepless nights!

VilootShesCute Sat 05-Apr-14 22:57:25

Hopefully would help my little ones through the coming months. Not looking forward to the massive dog shedding in summer...

Trebla Sat 05-Apr-14 23:02:40

Im in. Husband has asthma and boys ( 3 and 1) have dust allergies. We already have a Miele for this reason but would love to test out the newer model. We have wooden and carpeted floors and two cats. Cheers Emma

ddrmum Sun 06-Apr-14 22:32:06

Would love to trial one of these. Have 3 darling children with both wooden and carpeted floors yet there are itchy eyes and sneezes already sad Doesn't help that I've just blown up my vacuum cleaner this weekend....................!!!!

krisskross Sun 06-Apr-14 22:39:33

We'd love it too.....both children have asthma and eczema and anything that could help minimise their symptoms would be a revelation. Please pick me!!

BarmyBeth Sun 06-Apr-14 23:20:36

This would be fantastic. With 5 kids to run after it would be great to have a decent hoover, that is quiet so I can use when they are in bed. Dd has eczema, asthma and allergies so this would help her too. fingers crossed

wifeymerrick Mon 07-Apr-14 08:48:32

please consider me I keep borrowing my mum's

Heathcliff27 Mon 07-Apr-14 11:29:33

idleweiss Mon 07-Apr-14 12:03:02

Eek!! Have everything crossed soooooo need an amazing vacuum of my own.. Have nearly destroyed the one I've borrowed already, the amount of dust and crap I have to hoover up on a regular basis!! grin

Only 10 reviewers needed so very unlikely I'll be picked but good luck all!

PigeonStreet Mon 07-Apr-14 16:50:34

done done done grin
I have everything crossed that we get to try one. hopefully the carpets, rugs and air in the PigeonStreet household will be very grateful, as would our eyes and nosesgrin grin grin

Heathcliff27 Tue 08-Apr-14 14:12:13

Marcelinewhyareyousomean Thu 10-Apr-14 22:17:08

I'm also looking to feedback. Is it mad that I want you both to get one of each?

Giflo Fri 11-Apr-14 11:57:46

Waiting waiting waiting :-(, it would so much kinder if we knew when all the tester would be choosen, here's hoping one them is me :-D................... and very soon.

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 11-Apr-14 14:17:27

Hi everyone, the selected testers have now been emailed. Sorry if you didn't get chosen this time but keep an eye out for other product test to take part in!
