NOW CLOSED: Lyclear head lice Treatment Shampoo: Feedback thread: now with final questions added

(201 Posts)
KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 30-Aug-13 16:07:24

This thread is for the 100 unfortunate MNers who have recently experienced head lice and trialled Lyclear Treatment Shampoo.

Here's what Lyclear have to say about their product, "Lyclear Treatment Shampoo is and is as easy to use as washing hair. (1) The unique double action formula suffocates and dehydrates head lice and their eggs and is free from insecticides. The shampoo acts in a purely physical manner, ensuring the head lice do not become resistant to the treatment."

Lyclear Treatment Shampoo is suitable for adults and children over 2 years of age. Note: You should only use Lyclear Treatment Shampoo if you have live head lice. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients.*

So if you're a tester we'd like you to add feedback to this thread at least twice: Once when you first use the shampoo and once again after the second application (7 days after the first).

Lyclear says after checking the hair for lice with the fine toothed comb enclosed you should evenly apply the shampoo to dry hair, massaging from root to tip, paying particular attention to the neck and behind the ears. Leave on for 10 minutes then wash and rinse the hair thoroughly. Remove dead head lice and eggs with the fine toothed comb, thoroughly cleaning after use. Repeat the treatment after 7 days.

Please note your comments may be used by Lyclear in marketing material, on their website and possibly elsewhere.

So for your first feedback post please share:

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
3. What treatments have you tried in the past?

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
b. Ease of use
c. Convenience
d. Greasiness of treatment
e. Ease of washing out treatment
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
5. Any other comments on initial use?
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought

All selected testers who add at least two lots of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win £250 worth of Love2Shop vouchers.

Thanks and good luck (with everything)

1) 11yr old girl has had nits loads of times but this is first outbreak for about 2 yrs
2) 40 something mother. Has had nits before

Have previously used chemical stuff ( many yrs ago) but did not eradicate. Successful wet combing is my choice now. Wanted to try this for a change

Comb small, prongs too flexible
Shampoo effective try hard to assess as no nits came out (had wet combed last night)

I will be alternate night wet combing and it will be interesting to see if any appear

It is like baby oil. Runny and tricky to apply to dry hair. Bit messy tbh and hands covered and slippy to hold bottle. Smells ok. 200ml will only do two of us. One short bob and one shoulder length.

About to try and wash it out...

first application today. nits did come out dead when combing after use which was good as previous chemical products doesn't always actually kill the lice.

as said comb is to bendy and the shampoo needed a good rinse, didn't wash away as easily as I'd have liked.

will update after next application in 7 days
so far so good.

TiredDog Fri 30-Aug-13 22:16:08

I'd persevered with wet combing not knowing if I'd be successful in trialling this. Which is possibly why...No nits found after shampooing. I used shampoo and conditioner and then wet combed again. Bit oily and I'd have preferred a mousse application medium.

Previous chemical stuff was vile and strong. I felt physically unwell after use which is why I moved to wet combing (plus its more successful).

I lack confidence to rely on this alone but am going to give it 7 days trial without wet combing and see what happens.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age. Treated dd age ten
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? Unfortunately no she's had them about six or seven times before
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Hedrin Full Marks Nitty Gritty comb

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? The comb is useless. The teeth are too thick and the gap between them too big so I used one we already have.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs Poor, even though it took half a bottle of lotion and I left it on longer than ten minutes the majority of lice were still alive. The comb supplied wouldn't have removed eggs anyway.
b. Ease of use It's easy but what's the point of ease when it doesn't work?
c. Convenience Not terribly because I am going to have to treat dd with Hedrin anyway.
d. Greasiness of treatment. Not as greasy but now I see the greasiness as being a positive because at least Hedrin works.
e. Ease of washing out treatment Reasonably easy but it really has been a waste of time I could have used Hedrin and washed dd's hair two or three times and known it would have worked.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: It doesn't kill the lice and the comb is worse than useless.
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? it's not bad dd said it smelled like urine.
5. Any other comments on initial use? Will do a second treatment but it won't be a treatment I would buy or recommend
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought Dd thought it smelled like urine and she was fed up because the lice were still alive.

We are still waiting for our trial kit to arrive. I conditioned and nitty gritty'd again this evening.

From the reviews above I think I will use the nitty gritty comb instead of the one that is supplied.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Hedrin Full Marks Nitty Gritty comb.lyclear creme rinse

1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? The comb is useless. the gaps are too big, i used my nitty gritty comb.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past?
a. the comb didn't remove anything, most lice were dead
b.easy to use, like only 10 mins
c. Conveniencegood
d. Greasiness of treatment. Not bad, not as bad as full marks
e. Ease of washing out treatment- ok did twice
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:it seemed to kill most, think there must be lots of eggs left, time will tell
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? it reminded me of hair dye smell
5. Any other comments on initial use? if i am not itching in the next 3 days i will buy again
6. Did your child like the shampoo?yes much easier to apply than hedrin or full marks, good you don't have to sleep with it on.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
Currently I'm treating 6 yo DD, I am feeling itchier by the minute though so may well be treating myself, too.
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
This is the millionth time she's had lice... Well maybe not, but they've been here on and off for the past 18 months.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Full marks, hedrin, and mainly nitty gritty wet and dry combing, depending how I feel at the time!

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
I used our nitty gritty comb, didn't have any faith in the comb you provided, sorry!
I found one whole live louse after combing through the first application and loads of eggs. No dead lice - think I combed most of the live ones out beforehand.
b. Ease of use
Fairly easy to use although I didn't see the tiny screw top at the end of the application spout and undid the whole lid at first.
c. Convenience
Bottle is easy to hold, long applicator spout is convenient to use.
d. Greasiness of treatment
Not as greasy as other treatments we've used and washes off your hands easier, too.
e. Ease of washing out treatment
Needs a lot of rinsing but that's quite usual. Hair doesn't seem greasy afterwards, which is good.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
I was surprised to see a live louse after the first application when the packaging suggests that it kills all lice after one go.

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Yes.
5. Any other comments on initial use?
N/A
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
She hates having her hair washed and made a massive fuss when some of it got in her eyes. Not sure if its strictly Lyclear's fault though!

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age Boy all 5- 11 yrs.
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
No, recurrent problems since the last few weeks of school ending
3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
wet combing, conditioner, lyclear creme, hedrin

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Easy to use and better than the plastic combs which come in packs, not as good as nitty gritty the teeth seem a little far apart
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
was effective yes despite my reservations due to the size of the gaps.
b. Ease of use
really easy to use, no spillages due to the bottle style which is a bonus!
c. Convenience
Bottle is easy to hold and convenient to get to harder to reach places like behind the ears. no big build up just simple to put on.
it is greasy but i think that helps especially with the combing
e. Ease of washing out treatment
needs to be thorughly rinsed but the hair doesnt look greasy or flat and the does not smell either
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
No the bonus was that it could go straight onto the hair and then be washed on there was no big build up needed

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Yes, smelt more like a hair dye than a headline lotion.
5. Any other comments on initial use?
was easy and the children were not as fussed about having to have it done because it was quick simple and didnt stink like the others do
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
smelt nicer and was easier than leaving on for long periods of time.

sorry meant to say boy boy and girl all age 5-11

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
Girl age 5

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

Yes

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
n/a

*Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?*
Didn't seem as good as the comb I had been trying for the previous couple of days (metal teeth)

*2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs*

Seems to have been effective at removing most after the first treatment
b. Ease of use
Easy enough to use although like another reviewer would probably have preferred a mousse to an oil
c. Convenience
Seems more convenient to only have to do it twice rather than the multiple applications/combings.
e. Ease of washing out treatment
It seemed quite difficult to wash completely out and DD's hair did seem quite lank afterwards but I've no idea if that's worse than other treatments. She does have very very fine hair.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above
n/a

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
From the sounds of comments here headlice treatment shampoo doesn't smell good and this one is better smelling like a hair dye but I have to say I didn't think it smelt great.

5. Any other comments on initial use?
It was relatively straightforward, although I'd love one application to kill them all, the thought of waiting for another week doesn't fill me with joy but I'm a newbie at this headlice thing.

6. Did your child like the shampoo?
I don't think she loved how long it took me to rinse it off, but other than that seemed fine.

Hello!

I and my two daughters (I am 42, and my daughters are 2 & 6) have both been plagued with headlice for a while which we have virtually, but not entirely eradicated a number of times. We have tried the nitty gritty comb and conditioner method a lot, and also Hedrin, and Full Marks. Nothing has actually got rid of them.

The comb was OK, but not as good as a nitty gritty comb, as the gaps between the teeth were too wide for the tiniest baby lice, both when combing wet and dry hair.

The treatment itself was super easy - very easy to apply, but the nozzle meant that I had to squirt some into my hand for the long hair locks. Great for getting near the scalp, though, which is the most important area. It was less oily, and easier to wash out than Full Marks, which takes at least three shampoos. Considering I have a toddler who hateshaving her hair washed, this is a big problem.

Our hair looked very clear after one treatment - very good indeed. Definitely the best yet of all the things we have tried. I have not spotted any lice yet.

The fragrance was fine - pleasant. My older child was fine with the whole treatment, but the toddler hates any dealing with her hair at all, but this is normal for her, and was better than the treatments which are harder to get out. All our hair felt soft and clean after treatment.

Have treated the whole family, my 3yr old son, me and hubby! Got passed on from 11yr old cousin after she got it at a summer camp scheme.

Was really easy to apply, didn't smell like other treatments have that I used as a child. Son never had it before so was new experience for him & I've not had any since I was a young child so I had BAD memories of foul smelling ointment that had to sit on your hair for hours.....

Smelled clean, went on easily without being too greasy! Washed out fairly easily - we used Vosene 3 in 1 with lice repellant in it and it left hair feeling fresh and soft.

The comb wasn't as good as the metal toothed combs at getting the small ones out, so we used both just to be on the safe side.

No signs of any leftovers as of yet - will just keep checking.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age - DS 5, me 40+
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? Second time for both
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Combing and Hedrin

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? It was OK but not as substantial as the one I already have
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - I used it this morning and have had no itchiness today. DS used tonight so too early to say
b. Ease of use - it was fine for DS who has short hair but I found it tricky to make sure I covered all my hair.
c. Convenience - OK but a thicker liquid or a spray bottle would have been easier to use on myself
d. Greasiness of treatment - quite greasy, I had to wash my hands well to get it all off
e. Ease of washing out treatment - not great, I had to shampoo twice to get it all out
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: I'm not sure about the having to wait 7 days, I don't think we have a bad case but if we did I'd want it to be sorted in one application, do you keep going every week if there's a re-infection during the 7 days?
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? - I didn't like it but it wasn't worse than the Hedrin
5. Any other comments on initial use?
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought - no comments so that's good

1) Being treated - my 9 year old son. First time he has ever had lice, had them for about 2 weeks now.
I found the comb to be very flimsy & the spaces in the teeth too wide apart.
We found this treatment to be quite effective. He didn't have a real head full of lice but think it has done some good, no itching after treatment.
Very easy to use but then again, he has got short hair.
I found this product to be quite greasy, found it hard to get off hands etc.
Ease of washing out - took some washing, maybe cos it feels so oily?
The fragrance was bearable, have previously tried Hedrin which was awful and didn't kill the lice.
My child was ok about using this - anything that works is a bonus!.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age. daughter aged 8
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? Yes first time
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Conditioner and wet combing with a Nitty Gritty comb.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? I brushed through hair with normal brush first to detangle. The comb was useful and I managed to catch a few live lice in it, which was eurrrgggh, but made me feel like I was getting rid of them.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs can't say until after second lot of treatment
b. Ease of use easy to use but time consuming, so about the same.
c. Convenience see above

e. Ease of washing out treatment Easier - as easy to wash out as conditioner.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:

5. Any other comments on initial use?
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought Daughter said she found the treatment made her head feel less itchy straight away. She did not like waiting to rinse it off and found the wet combing boring, but to be fair she has had lots of wet combing in the last two weeks so she is fed up!

Iwaswatchingthat Sun 01-Sep-13 14:21:26

Ps: in my pack the comb was metal - nearly exactly like a nitty gritty comb, not plastic as some other testers seem to have received.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age. Daughter aged 8

Confused40 Sun 01-Sep-13 22:08:58

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age Myself 41 and ds18
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? Had headlice a few times in the past, friends daughter unfortunately passed on this time to us.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Full marks, conditioning treatment, nitty gritty comb, and tea tree oil.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? Was too wide to be effective. We used the nitty gritty comb. We both have curly hair so the comb needed to really get through the hair and the comb provided would probably be ok on straight hair.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - About same
b. Ease of use - Better
c. Convenience - Same
d. Greasiness of treatment - Same
e. Ease of washing out treatment - Both washed twice
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? It was very pleasant compared to some treatment shampoos.
5. Any other comments on initial use?
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought - DS thought it was ok to use, and the instructions simple to read and understand.

TheOldestCat Sun 01-Sep-13 22:13:31

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age. DD 6.
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? Nope. This is our second confirmed visit although I've done the wet comb method as a pre-emptive strike when her friends have had them or the school has warned there's an outbreak.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? wet combing

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? The metal comb was ok - took less hair out than the nitty gritty! Not sure if this is a good thing; could it be missing lice as the teeth are wider than the NG
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs Better (we got two dead lice - same as last time with wet comb and conditioner, but these were DEAD so that's good)
b. Ease of use Better (liked the spout!)
c. Convenience Same
d. Greasiness of treatment Same
e. Ease of washing out treatment Better

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? I didn't dislike it; I expected it to smell stronger than it did
5. Any other comments on initial use? seems pretty straightforward
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought DD is a dramatic child about very small things, but strangely takes wet combing in her stride and seems to quite enjoy it as long as she can play in the bath. She was the same with this - quite happy. She said it smelled "lovely".

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? It's only the second time me & DS have had head lice. DD has had it lots since she started school - I think someone there isn't being treated - so probably 10+ times

3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Hedrin, Full marks & wet combing

1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? Not very - it felt like it glided over the hair, rather than getting in and finding everything. DS preferred this (he's got a sensitive scalp), but I didn't trust it so re-combed with the nitty gritty & found lots more.

a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - The shampoo seemed to kill almost all of the lice we found. Very few came out alive. The eggs needed something stronger than the comb provided.

b. Ease of use Very easy to use

c. Convenience The 10 minutes was a nice short treatment time

d. Greasiness of treatment - Not as greasy as treatments I've used before and much easier to wash out.

e. Ease of washing out treatment - I was pleased with this - it was much easier than other treatments & this was a big plus for me (and my back!)

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: The treatment was as good as other treatments I've used in the past, with the bonus that it is much easier to wash out (which I'm pleased with). I wouldn't like to rely on it in isolation though - I think the provided comb would give a false sense of security.

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? - It wasn't offensive, pleasant enough.

5. Any other comments on initial use? - None

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought - DD was pleased with the length of time she had to spend washing her hair - like I say it was much easier to manage than other lotions we've used. DS wasn't too bothered either way smile

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice?
Me (), DD1 (10), DS (7) and DD (3)

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
Probably the second time for my 3 year old, but DD1 and DS have had this on and off for a longer time.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Hedrin, Full Marks and combing with nitty gritty and conditioner

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
I liked that the comb was sturdy as we all have quite thick hair. We have found the combs supplied with other treatments too flimsy.

So far so good for most of us, except DS, who I noticed was scratching last night!

b. Ease of use
Quite tricky to apply on long hair.

c. Convenience
Quite time consuming.

d. Greasiness of treatment
Quite greasy to apply, but not so bad once in the hair.

e. Ease of washing out treatment
Took us a long time to rinse out of long hair.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
The fragrance wasn't bad

5. Any other comments on initial use?
Fairly easy to sue

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
They didn't particularly enjoy the experience, but none of them like to sit still for too long!

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age. Daughter 16, me 42.
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? No, had at least a dozen times before.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? All chemicals then gave up and went to NittyGritty and conditioner with tea tree and neem oil added. Is only thing that worked.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? OK, but didn't really work well.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - seemed to clear the majority.
b. Ease of use - easy.
c. Convenience - ok I guess.
d. Greasiness of treatment - seemed quite greasy.
e. Ease of washing out treatment - took lots of rinsing to get rid.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? not pleasant.
5. Any other comments on initial use? - seemed easy to use.
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought - didn't like the smell.

snorris Mon 02-Sep-13 11:26:15

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age.
10 yo dts (girls) and dd5 aged 4, plus I've treated myself (42 yo f) as I've been itching but not found any lice.

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
This is the first time, the twins spent half term with their cousin and came back with lice. Several times I have thought we've got rid but they reappear.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
For the last 12 weeks or so I have tried combing with conditioner and nitty gritty comb , Vosene defence spray and I tried a herbal shampoo which was very effective but the dc's won't let me use it again as it stinks of coal tar grin.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Very easy. I had less complaints from them than using the nitty gritty comb. On myself I noticed it tugged the hair less. I did do a final comb through with the nitty gritty comb as a precaution after reading some of the other comments.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:

a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs.
I only found one live louse on each of the twins before application and none on myself or dd5. There were none at all after washing the shampoo out but the comb provided showed up 1 egg on dt1 and the nitty gritty found 1 egg one dd5 but she has very fine hair.

b. Ease of use.
Very easy. I actually found it much less hassle than the usual routine. I had no drips from the bottle and could get the treatment right down to the roots as needed. On myself I found it easier to put it into my hand to massage it in.

c. Convenience.
Much more convenient than washing, conditioning, combing, rinsing.

d. Greasiness of treatment.
I didn't think it was too bad. It certainly washed off my hands easily and the girls don't look greasy at all - apart from one small patch on dt2 where I don't think she rinsed it out properly.

e. Ease of washing out treatment.
Very easy. The twins did their own in the shower and said it was fine. It rinsed out of dd5's hair easily in the bath which was good as she will only tolerate it for so long. On my hair it felt no different to any other shampoo.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
It's ok. It does remind me of a pot-pourri drawer freshener I had as I child blush. A sort of dried lavender/rose scent. The children liked though which is a bonus and there is no strong lingering after smell.

5. Any other comments on initial use?
When it came to rinsing dd5 and my hair I did wonder if I had used enough as there didn't seem to be much lather. I also have over half a bottle left but I have very short hair and dd5 has very fine hair so maybe I just didn't need as much. The dts have average thickness, shoulder length hair.

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought.
They all said they liked the shampoo and prefer the idea of just 2 treatments instead of combing every couple of days. I will be keeping a beady eye out for any critters though, based on other comments posted here, especially as school goes back tomorrow and dd5 starts next week.

redgate Mon 02-Sep-13 13:41:33

Ours hasn't arrived yet sad and couldn't leave it any longer, so have used some stuff we got from the pharmacy. We will use the stuff if (when!) we need to next time and I will add feedback then, hope that's ok

Fillybuster Mon 02-Sep-13 15:10:04

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age

DD1 (5), DD2 (3), DS (8) and me (39). This was a pre-emptive strike as we came home from a camping trip with friends and they let us know that all of their children had returned with nits. DD1 had been scratching quite a bit, but i didn't find any evidence when I checked her head...

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

Yes for the 2 girls; DS had one or two nits one time as a toddler.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?

Full Marks when we bought something 6 years ago. I wet comb all children and myself on a regular basis, and use a nitty gritty on everyone whenever there is an outbreak at school.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Too easy. I didn't feel like it really went through the hair. The girls have very thick, wavy hair so they preferred it to the nitty gritty, but I wouldn't say it filled me with confidence.

Not convinced by the comb.

b. Ease of use
The application and process was very easy

c. Convenience
Great

d. Greasiness of treatment
Wasn't too keen, but guess it has to be a bit greasy to smother the nits!

e. Ease of washing out treatment
Fine - took a bit of effort but even dd2 was ok with the additional length of time in the shower.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
Thought it was fine - wish we hadn't needed it, but that isn't Lyclear's fault!

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
OK

5. Any other comments on initial use?
Very easy to apply and rub in - much better than my last experience of trying to use a nit shampoo. Don't think much of the free comb, though - I wouldn't trust it to get all nits out, so not sure it's the best thing to include.

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
They thought it was ok, and less of a mess to use than they were expecting.
Thank you.

curlywurl Mon 02-Sep-13 16:55:45

Treated a 5 yr old first episode and has short hair.

Was ok to apply but a bit runny. Didn't get much out with the comb but not seen anything in hair since

Rishi79 Mon 02-Sep-13 19:02:42

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
My 7 Year old daughter.

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
Nope, She gets it now and then and is a common complaint in her class.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Wet combing. She hates combing though and complaints about pain so trying lyclear seem to be a better solution.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
not as good as nitty gritty but better than the plastic comb. I usually buy the wilko one and it works well though.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
lice did come out faint/dead. couldn't manage to get eggs but have seen them sticked the hair as dead. Might have to comb better i think
b. Ease of use
My daughter has a long hair and takes quite a good amount of shampoo. oil based made it easy to apply.
c. Convenience
washing my DD's hair was always a nightmare, felt it was tangled more after wash.
d. Greasiness of treatment
More Greasy though. Because it was over the weekend, I didnt really bother to shampoo twice and left it just making sure that it is washed thoroughly.
e. Ease of washing out treatment
To avoid greasy hair, may have to wash twice.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
Usually had done wet combing and conditioner application and then combing. Can not compare and seeing the treatment to get clear of the lice soon, there is no major complaint.

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Nope. Gives me a medicine smell. (Ofcourse I agree it is kind of a medicinal treatment)

5. Any other comments on initial use?
None except the once i mentioned before. wet combing every alternate days and dry combing everyday if possible. Had to wait for 7 days to see the reapplication necessity.

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
Nope - mainly because of smell and next because she knew i would wet comb to get rid of the lice. But, It would have been the same response for any treatment i would have taken.

Haven't received mine yet ???

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
DS 9
Me 40

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
No, he has had them on and off for several months now. He keeps being re-infected at school.
I have had them twice, both times caught from school via the kids.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Full marks solution, and very regular wet combing with nitty gritty comb

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Fine, but I wasn't convinced it would get as much out as the nitty gritty comb

Same

b. Ease of use
Better than fullmarks solution as it washed out well. Fullmarks left hair very greasy.

c. Convenience
Good

d. Greasiness of treatment
Better than fullmarks solution but greasier than comb and conditioner

e. Ease of washing out treatment
Better than fullmarks solution

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Yes, I thought it smelt nice.

5. Any other comments on initial use?
Whilst most of the lice came our dead, a few were definitely alive and well. After leaving it on an extra five minutes, I was hoping all would be killed. I am wondering if I've missed any potential egg laying lice.

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
He didn't think anything different about it to other treatments, poor child is very used to us treating him at the moment!

Pantone363 Tue 03-Sep-13 11:55:26

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age

Female 30
Female 8
Female 3

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

Twice

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?

Wet combing with a nitty gritty
Hedrin

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?

Good. Because you have to use it on wet hair without conditioner I found the wider teeth to be helpful, if I had tried to do that with a nitty gritty it would've ripped most of our hair out. It still caught most of the lice.

They didn't like the smell, but DD8 was pleased she didn't have to leave it on overnight.

Tortoise Tue 03-Sep-13 13:08:15

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age

Treating my DDs age 9 and 10 and myself, female, age 35

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

Not the first time and they have had them multiple times over the last year or so.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?

Wet combing and a hair treatment but it was ages ago and i can't remember which one it was. (It didn't work!)

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
It was easy to use but not as effective as the nitty gritty comb that i normally use. The teeth were not close enough together.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs better
b. Ease of use better
c. Convenience same
d. Greasiness of treatment same
e. Ease of washing out treatment better
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?

Yes it was a pleasant fragrance compared to the previously tried one but not really any better than wet combing with conditioner.

5. Any other comments on initial use?

We used a lot more than expected and there is no way we have enough left to properly treat 3 of us in 7 days. No where near enough for the claimed 8 applications.
I re-combed with nitty gritty a few days later and found no live lice, thankfully! DD1 had 2 dead ones that the other comb missed and some eggs. DD2 just had eggs.

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought

We didn't mind the shampoo but wonder if a foam would be easier because they didn't like it running off the hair down their necks or faces.

drivinmecrazy Tue 03-Sep-13 13:23:57

1) DD 8yo me 42yo
2) DD recurrent infestations over last 12 months. Me, twice
3) Hedrin, Full Marks, Tea Tree oil & Nitty Gritty comb

1) Comb was fine, but reverted to nitty gritty comb because its MUCH more effective on eggs and smaller lice
2a) seemed to kill all lice
2b) same as other chemical solutions
2c) very convenient. nozzle meant could easily cover areas around ears and hairline
2d) Same as others for oiliness
2e) Really easy to foam up and wash out, by far the easiest we have used
3) N/A
4) Smelt pleasant enough
5) Really did like that it really foamed up well
6) DD liked that we didnt have to wash her hair numerous times, and her hair wasnt greasy at all when we finished

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 03-Sep-13 14:15:40

hi - a couple of you have queried about the comb - just to clarify the Lyclear anti-lice comb has metal prongs and a plastic case surrounding.

Tortoise Tue 03-Sep-13 17:53:52

AnnMumsnet I'm worried about re applying in 7 days because we have about a 1/4 of the bottle left so not enough to re treat 3 of us.

1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?

Tortoise I think you used too much ? We 3 have long thick hair & didn't have any problems with it running down our neck or faces.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past? None

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? I didn't really have much success with it, although it was metal and strong, not flimsy as some people have commented. I think the teeth were a bit far apart.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? N/A, but I found it quite easy to use and wash out afterwards. The solution itself was very thin which made it harder to use as it would run through/off my hand as I poured it out.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:N/A

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? The smell was fine, although strong, I could still smell it in the bathroom the following day

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought: he found it fine, just like washing his hair really.

willowisp Possibly did use too much. Wanted to make sure the hair was coated well. There wasn't loads dripping down, just a little bit.

missusjen Wed 04-Sep-13 00:37:48

We've got 7 children who all play rough and tumble together and so as soon as one catches headlice it goes through the family.
We'd had an outbreak as they broke up from school and then again 3 weeks into the holiday, so I can only assume we weren't thorough enough somewhere. 2 of the children were away, so we couldn't treat them at the time. When they got back last week we had a look, and sure enough one was definitely infested.
I wanted to treat everyone else a week later anyway, as the treatment I had used doesn't kill any eggs, and even with combing with conditioner I wanted to be entirely sure. I treated several of them on Friday using the Lyclear. DS(15), DD(14), DS(3), DS(4), Me (41)

We've most definitely had headlice befrore. I'd say all of us 5+ times

I've used Hedrin, Full Marks (usual), wet combing (usual), nitty gritty comb, electric comb.

I thought the comb was a bit blah really. It wasn't brilliant, but it was okay.

I didn't find anything alive, and I feel all the big livce were removed, but not all of the eggs.

It was all easy to use

It was convenient, I just treated the little ones and let them run about for 10 minutes before a bath.

It wasn't as greasy as what I normally use (full marks) and first wash out was good. It didn't seem to drip so much from the hair either.

Washing out was good. When dry no-one had hair that looked greasy.

The comb was not as good as a nitty gritty, it wasn't special, so I've used better.

It smelled okay, still a bit 'medicated', but pleasant and not in any way 'girlie', which concerns my lot.

No-one had a particular opinion except that they were happier with the amount of 'drip' DS (15) DD (14). They didn't mind the smell, and no-one minded the washing it out afterwards.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
Dd age 10
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
No , five times but not for ages
3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Wet coming, Hedrin.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Comb was rubbish sorry! Too flexible.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete.

Both treatments I removed dead lice but still had live after first use.

For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
b. Ease of use Spout makes it easy
c. Convenience Didn't have to be left on as long.
d. Greasiness of treatment, very greasy, hard to wash out.
e. Ease of washing out treatment
See above
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Bit like hair dye.
5. Any other comments on initial use?
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
Didnt like having to spend ages rinsing. Like previous poster she thought it would be like ad just washing hair.

QuickSqueezeCoolBreeze Wed 04-Sep-13 12:49:06

Firstly about head lice:
1. DTD, (7) DS (6) and me (oh joy of joys!)
2. We have had lice visit us many, many times since my DTDs started school and I have probably spent a small fortune on products to combat it. I don't believe all parents comb their child's hair when letters are sent home <grrrr-mini rant>
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? In my case this question would be easier to answer with 'what haven't we tried' Hedrin, Full Marks, Once, Tea tree shampoo and conditioner, wet combing-all with Nitty Gritty Comb.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Um I have to admit that we didn't use the comb included as it seemed a poor substitute next to my faithful Nitty gritty comb and I didn't want to risk missing any of the blighters. Plus I may have read PP comments before beginning treatment and decided not to use it. However, I did run it through my DS short hair and he said 'ooh that feels nicer that the other comb'
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs BETTER The shampoo definitely killed a higher percentage that other treatments we have tried.
b. Ease of use I found it very easy to use-BETTER very similar to home hair dye both with a spout and the thickness of product. My only complaint was that I needed to do 4 of us with half the bottle and I was unable to see how much of the product I was using on each head (I fear I may have skimped on my own head)
c. Convenience BETTER Loving the 10mins
d. Greasiness of treatment BETTER-this was my biggest plus of this product-I felt that after we shampooed it out, our hair looked shiny and clean and not limp like other products.
e. Ease of washing out treatment WORSE You need to rinse A LOT A LOT
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:Only that my DTDs had to get back in the shower twice after I thought we had rinsed it all out. It does take a lot of rinsing.
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? We all thought the smell of Lyclear was inoffensive and one of my DTDs actually said she like it.
5. Any other comments on initial use? No
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
DTDs liked that it didn't run in to their eyes and sting. They liked that it was only 10mins and they liked that their hair looked shiny and not greasy post wash. I think they would let me do this treatment again without any issue.

Hawkmoth Wed 04-Sep-13 14:15:07

Nobody treated yet... Not arrived sad

poppy1973 Wed 04-Sep-13 14:19:36

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
My son, 8 years of age.

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

No they have had head lice a few times over the last few years.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Tea tree shampoo, combing with a nit comb and combing with an battery operated nit comb that is meant to zap them out.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
I didn't have a fine toothed comb in the box. So I had to use my ordinary nit comb instead.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
b. Ease of use
c. Convenience
d. Greasiness of treatment
e. Ease of washing out treatment

a. It seemed effective at removing the eggs from the head.
b. Easy to use as I normally washing the hair with conditioner and comb them out. Using the treatment made it so much easier.
c. Obviously very convenient as I don't have to constantly comb out nits with the old fashioned nit comb.
d. The product seemed a little greasy on the hands, not sure if this is normal with headlice treatment !!
e. Washed the hair a few times afterwards as it did seem at first to appear a bit greasy.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above

It seemed more effective that my usual method of combing and dealt with the problem quite quickly.

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Fragrance didn't seem too bad, my son didn't mind it.

5. Any other comments on initial use?
No
6. Did your child like the shampoo?
My child didn't mind having the shampoo, he normally objects to the nit comb as he often says it hurts but the shampoo was found to be okay.

madbutnotbad Wed 04-Sep-13 17:48:24

1, Myself (adult smile, my daughters 3 + 5)
2, No they have had headlice on and off all summer and my youngest has had it once before.
3, We have tried wet combing (a lot), headrin overnight stuff and lyclear lotion.

1, Didn't like the comb I tried it on myself and didn't rate it so used my nitty gritty on the kids, to be honest I would rather not get the comb and pay a little less for the product.
2a, It seemed very good but the test will be in the next week if they start scratching again.
b, I found it very easy to use and great that it didn't need to be left in overnight.
c, Very convenient in and out in one go no messing around having to wash hair twice.
d, I didn't find the product greasy
e, I found the product very easy to wash out.
3, No I did not find this product worse than others I've used in the past.
4, Not really but I very rarely like the smell of hair products!
5,No
6, My children weren't very keen but then that was because of it being for nits! My eldest says it was ok she supposed!! hmm

FourLittleDudes Wed 04-Sep-13 23:37:21

Mine hasn't arrived yet.

CarmonEileen Thu 05-Sep-13 08:08:34

1. Daughter aged 6
2. Not first time sadly.
3. Wet combing, Hedrin Once,

1. The comb was bendy and the prongs short, Daughter complained it pulled, used the nitty gritty instead.
2.
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs- same
b. Ease of use-same, bottle became very slippery
c. Convenience-better
d. Greasiness of treatment-same
e. Ease of washing out treatment-better-still greasy but better than other treatments available

3. Wasn't worse by any means.
4. Fragrance was fine, not overpowering.
5. No.
6. Didn't mind at all however as it was a 'treatment' we (I) pretended it was a spa type treatment therefore she was 'ok' with it, until the comb came out! :~)

HeyUGuys Thu 05-Sep-13 11:39:48

Still waiting for ours, will update when it arrives!

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age DSs aged 13 and 15, plus DD 9
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? First time the boys have had it for years, DD has had outbreaks a couple of times a year since reception - there's a bit of an issue at school I think
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? most chemical ones, but usually we wet comb as DD seems to pick them up again within a couple of weeks and we can't continuously use them. We'd wet comb every shampoo anyway.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? Better than the plastic ones you usually get, but I used our nitty gritty comb as gets more out
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs It was disgusting but also quite cool how many lice dropped out as I was massaging the shampoo into their hair. Seemed to get more eggs/nits out when combing through as well, but that could just be because they're easier to see without all the conditioner
b. Ease of use very easy
c. Convenience pretty convenient
d. Greasiness of treatment Didn't think it was that greasy - washed off my hands fairly easily
e. Ease of washing out treatment DC are all old enough to have showers alone, so didn't rinse it for them (can't see teen DSs letting me anywhere near them in the shower tbh!) but they all felt the need to shampoo with a normal shampoo to get the residue out
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: It seemed to be pretty effective - as I said above, all the lice dropping out as it was applied was pretty impressive. I think more dropped out during treatment and rinsing than we actually found when combing afterwards
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? I quite liked it
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
They had no issues in using it - preferred it to the others we've tried in the past, and definitely prefer it to sitting still 2/3 times a week whilst I wet comb...

Damn, missed the better/same/worse bit

a, better b better c, better d, better e, average smile

Littlemousewithcloggson Thu 05-Sep-13 18:09:09

Used this product on a four year old girl and a five year old girl. They have had head lice numerous times since the eldest started school last year.
I have tried hedrin, full marks and own brand treatments as well as constant wet combing but nothing has been completely successful and they keep coming back!

Lyclear was very easy to apply by twisting the nozzle off and it went on the hair very easily and precisely. It didn't feel as greasy as some of the other treatments I have used before and smelt much nicer. Very quick and convenient and the girls didn't find it too stressful.

I loved the way it washed out, a small amount of water makes it into a lather like a normal shampoo rather than having to wash the hair at least 5 times as with other brands. I did find though that it was quite hard to wash out. Eldest daughter was out the shower and I was combing her hair before I realised there was still a deceptive amount of shampoo left. When I did my 2nd daughter I washed it an extra time which much more success. Overall a great product for washing out.

The comb worked very well but was a bit bendy. Lots of dead lice came out. Didn't shift the eggs as well as I would have liked but there wasn't a single live critter left.

Overall am delighted with this. Quick and easy. Both girls
asked if we could always use this one. They loved the ease and the smell.

Next day their hair didn't look greasy at all which was a lot different than with other brands.

Littlemousewithcloggson Thu 05-Sep-13 18:12:58

And to add , overall it was better than the other brands on all points

pippitysqueakity Thu 05-Sep-13 19:34:30

Used it for 4yo 6yo and 8 yo
Didn't really have enough in 200ml bottle for all 3 children
Perfume quite nice
Comb a bit rubbish, I used nitty gritty
I was pleased by how it washed out

I must say tho that I took DC to hairdresser next day who located a live nit on 6yo dd, bit embarrassing !

Overall a reasonable alternative to hedrin, but Unfortunetly not as good as I'd hoped

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age - Daughter aged 14
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? They have had recurrent episodes but last one has lasted over a year - she has waist length curly hair and is a nightmare to treat
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Hedren and Nitty grtitty Comb

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? Easy but not very effective, passed through hair clean but when I used Nitty Gritty comb lots of the little buggers
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - too soon to tell although mid week wash found only 2 full grown lice
b. Ease of use - much easier than other shampoo in techniques
c. Convenience - Not as convenient as just combing but no more inconveneient than using a leave in conditioner
d. Greasiness of treatment - wouldn't go out with it on but again, seen worse
e. Ease of washing out treatment - very easy
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? I don't actively like it but doesn't smell too chemically so fairly pleasant to deal with
5. Any other comments on initial use? I did wash and condition as normal afterwards but hair was very soft and pretty
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
They didn't mind the process but will be delighted if it works.

Svrider Fri 06-Sep-13 12:58:32

Also the myth about been able to get nit treatment free via pharmacies is true!!
I've registered today
My oldest is 8yo and I've just found out about this
Many thanks to the mner who mentioned this in one of the nit thread
<nit thread lurker!>

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? - very easy, not as rough on the hair as nitty gritty

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:

a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - very good

b. Ease of use - easy

c. Convenience - good

d. Greasiness of treatment - very greasy and runny, bit too much

e. Ease of washing out treatment - good, but did take a few washes

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?it was ok

5. Any other comments on initial use? - none

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought - she hates having her hair shampooed, but she was ok with it

I thought the shampoo was very effective - all lice appeared to be dead, I will use it again as recommended and hopefully the lice will be gone for good.

I will post again after second use

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age

*7yr old dd and 37 yr old mum*

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

*I've not had headlice since I was a child, dd seems to get them at least once a term since starting school*

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?

* every chemical treatment avalible, wet combing with a fine tooth comb, wet combing with a nitty gritty and tea tree oil in a spray as a preventative measure*

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?

* the comb was fine to use, it went through brushed and combed hair easy enough, I would prefer to use he nity gritty comb over this one though as dd has very fine hair at the hair line and this didn't remove the cases there*

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs

yes

b. Ease of use

*very easy to use*

c. Convenience

*very convenient*

d. Greasiness of treatment

*was very runny when applied and the product did drip leaving the skin feeling very oily/greasy*

e. Ease of washing out treatment

* extremely easy to wash out*

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:

*has been the best of the products I have used in the past, my only real issue is that it says up to 8 treatments, and dd and I have used just over half a bottle for one treatment, there will just about be enough to do the follow up treatment, both of us have shoulder length hair*

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?

* I didn't dislike it, not sure I would go so far as to say that I did like it though*

5. Any other comments on initial use?

*I'm pleased with how easy it was to wash out of the hair and that it didn't leave hair lank and greasy looking even after several washes.*

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought

*dd didn't complain about the hair washing anymore than normal, she didn't like that it dripped in the ten minutes waiting time though and she said it stung when it dripped into her eye (we did wash out with cold water)*

Firstly about head lice:
1 DD, aged 15.
2 Numerous times since primary school.
3 Hedrin, tea tree oil, wet combing daily for years sad At the end of my tether and seriously considering whether the only option is to cut off her waistlength locks or contact The Hairforce.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1 How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Metal combs stretch and break my DD's hair. We used a white plastic one.
2 How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
Hard to say as she has so much hair but there is a definite improvement in the number of live lice remaining after one treatment.
b. Ease of use
I left her to get on with it and she managed the whole thing without any trouble.
c. Convenience
No better or worse than other treatments.
d. Greasiness of treatment
It was very greasy… (but see e, below)
e. Ease of washing out treatment
My DD is desperate to get rid of her headlice but was reluctant to try ‘yet another’ treatment as the ones we have used previously have left her hair looking like an oil slick and have taken a week of daily washing to remove. She was pleased to report that Lyclear was surprisingly easy to wash out considering it seemed very greasy to apply.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
n/a
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Neither liked nor disliked.
5. Any other comments on initial use?
Nope.
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
She found it left her hair feeling soft and glossy: result!

mothermirth Fri 06-Sep-13 16:22:37

PS 6. But not greasy!

So for your first feedback post please share:

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
DD1 (8) DD2 (5) and me (35)
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
No, this is the second time for all.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Hedrin and wet combing with nitty gritty comb.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? Very easy.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - not sure, lots came out but not sure if all have been removed.
b. Ease of use - Easier than Hedrin, not as runny, good that it can be applied direct from the bottle.
c. Convenience - Relatively convenient, good that it doesn't have to be left in overnight.
d. Greasiness of treatment - a bit greasy but not as bad as others.
e. Ease of washing out treatment - pretty easy.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? I did actually, it smells a bit like rose oil.
5. Any other comments on initial use? I found it much easier to use than hedrin but I won't stop wet combing with the nitty gritty comb and conditioner as well. Not convinced it will work on its own with that comb. 8 treatments is misleading, for very short hair maybe.
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought: they thought it was 'fine' but neither particularly enjoys the process of being 'de-loused' so difficult to get a more enthusiastic response.

All selected testers who add at least two lots of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win £250 worth of Love2Shop vouchers.

Thanks and good luck (with everything)

Hi; 1: Unfortunately I am treating myself age 49 and my twins age 12All female. 2:We seem to have recurring bouts of this with little respite in between.3: I can honestly say I have tried everything from Prioderm , to hedrin, tea tree oil to vosene and wet combing with little effect.

1: The fine toothed comb was very thorough and removed the nits quite easily with little discomfort and was sturdier than the usual plastic ones provided. It did seem difficult to clean at the end though.
2: a]Very impressed with how quickly it worked and there were loads of eggs removed quickly b] and c]It was easy to use and the instructions were easy to follow. The applicator tip was easy to remove and replace and the bottle fitted comfortably in my hand. d]Although the treatment did initially feel greasy it actually spread well throughout the hair and coated it well and was lovely to massage in .e]I liked that this foamed up into a shampoo when washing the hair as it felt that the hair truly was clean and an added bonus was that our hair felt nourished and conditioned too. It washed out really well.
3: Not applicable as was best product I have used.
4: The fragrance was pleasant and not overwhelming.
5:Have pictures of how many removed etc should you require them.
6:My Daughters were so surprised by the short time needed to treat them and it turned a normally tedious and tortuous one into a pleasant one as they loved having me massage this into their hair and how easy it was to shampoo out and comb through

TiredDog Sat 07-Sep-13 14:09:34

2nd application: DD had three immature nits. I had none

Only found the 'nozzle' tip came off after I'd read that on here.

Pleased with the outcome tbh

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age: Daughter age 8.
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? She became infected with headlice for the first time about 10 weeks ago, and we have been unsuccessful in completely clearing them since this time, despite using various methods and products.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Hedrin Treat and Go mousse, Hedrin Once, Full Marks (liquid, mousse and lotion), Lyclear Spray Away, combing with conditioner, a product we purchased in France (the name of which I don't remember!)

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? It was difficult to clean the lice out of the teeth of the comb.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? As yet, we've had six days since the first treatment and we've had no itching so far, touch wood...
Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs: better
b. Ease of use: Easier than Hedrin because you don't have to wash out with shampoo and conditioner after treatment.
c. Convenience: Better
d. Greasiness of treatment: More greasy than some others.
e. Ease of washing out treatment: It looked as though all the product had rinsed out, but as the hair dried, it became apparent there was still product left in there.
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? It was pleasant enough, it wasn't over powering.
5. Any other comments on initial use? 6 days with no itching is a good indicator that this product may be effective...
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought: "I liked the feel when it was on my hair. It was quite quick."

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? about 4
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Full marks, wet combing with conditioner

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? not bad, but I preferrred a white plastic comb I have used before as it went through hair easier (with shorter teeth) and with metal comb it was hard to tell if it was just water or lice in comb.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - semed a little better (so far)
b. Ease of use - better (bit easier than mousse to apply)

Trynottoshout Sat 07-Sep-13 20:05:03

1. 3 sons aged 7,5 and 3 and mum aged 39
2. First time younger boys , second time for 7 year old and it's been a while for me ....
3. I have tried herbal and wet combing in the past with limited success taking a few weeks to get rid of them.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. Comb was fine for the boys short hair but harder to work with on my hair.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective with wet combing
b. Easy on the boys hair although it was not clear how much to use. I don't think I put enough on mine and it didn't lather properly
c. Fine but you have to get set up with towels etc
d. Oily but I was prepared for that with towels and hot soapy water for comb
e. easy to wash out but hard to lather if you don't use enough

3. Just some instructions could be clearer - amount to use.

4. Did not especially like it but then it's for getting rid of head lice and eggs so didn't expect to. It was not offensive though
5. I found it easy to use
6. They moaned (par for the course and I do remind them they could have long hair. They didn't complain about Lyclear especially just the whole thing! Instruction could suggest towels round necks and on sofa with DvD for the 10 min wait!

wheredoistartmrs Sat 07-Sep-13 20:21:56

7 day follow up, everything fine

as before. I believe we are both nit free hooray

second treatment, just as easy to use. seemed pointless as hair was clear but gave peace of mind and the kids didn't complain as the smell isn't as bad as others

1. DS age 7, DS aged 4, me aged 30ish
2. First time
3. Some strange headline treatment from the pharmacy on holiday that did nothing to kill the head lice, wet combing.

1. The comb was easy to use, and the DC said it hurt their hair/scalp less. However I'm not sure how good the comb is - all the advice I'd read online e.g. the NHS guidance says that a plastic comb is better than a metal one so I was surprised to receive a metal nit comb in the box.
smile
2
a. Hard to judge - we've been wet combing for the last two weeks so I think the bulk of the head lice have already been removed. I combed out several bugs from each DS.
b. the product was easy to use - it spread through the hair evenly without being too runny. No unpleasant smell. The DC were pleased that it didnt sting their eyes.
C. Convenience - it was quick and easy to do, but I guess time will tell if all the bugs are killed.
D. The product had a similar consistency to baby lotion. I was concerned that it would leave a greasy residue in the hair but actually it washed out well and left the hair soft but not slimy.
E. washed out easily

3. lyclear was easier to use than the unknown Spanish pharmacy product. If it works in two treatments it will be significantly quicker than wet combining every other day.

4. There wasn't a distinct 'fragrance' but the smell was less offensive than other products I've heard about.

5. It would be useful to have a little more guidance in the box about whether it is ok to swim the next day etc.

6. The DC liked the shampoo. They'd both seen the advert on tv (Cartoonito?) and could both tell me the benefits of the product. They liked the animation of the bugs beings caught in bubbles. As a result they were positive about using it.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
Me, DH, both 30's, DD 5

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
First time, bought nitty gritty comb then saw this thread

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
N/A

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Found it a bit bendy, espicially on thick curly hair

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used: Can't compare it but these are my thoughts
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs - Yes, seems to be
b. Ease of use - easy to use
c. Convenience - fine
d. Greasiness of treatment - not really greasy, just more thn norma shampoo
e. Ease of washing out treatment - needed a good rins under power shower
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? a bit like hair dye but ok
5. Any other comments on initial use?
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought - told her it would make her hair shiny! she was fine

Can I add to my feedback please? I wrote the feedback above based on the experience of treating the DCs hair. I later did my hair. I've got very fine, very straight shoulder length coloured hair. The Lyclear made my hair tangle really badly. I had to use conditioner to get my regular brush through my hair, the comb was impossible. It's pulled out loads of my hair and the colour is dulled.
Maybe this is a good product for DS with short hair but I wouldn't recommend it for an adult with my hair type.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
DH 34, DS 4

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
No. We've had them on and off since January this year following an unfortunate hat-sharing incident.

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
Hedrin, wet-combing and one of those things with Neem in it.

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
VERY easy on DS. In fact, after using it he didn't need conditioner as it left his hair so soft.
DH has very thick longish curly hair. I tried the comb on him (the metal and green plastic) and it pulled a load out. He was fairly unhappy. So I used one of the plastic ones we've stockpiled.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs

b. Ease of use
Better - love the long nozzle

c. Convenience
Better - ten minutes is v manageable

d. Greasiness of treatment
Worse - but only on hands. It washed off easily, even from DS who was restyling himself in the mirror and got covered.

e. Ease of washing out treatment
Better - surprised at how well it lathered up and we didn't use any further shampoo on it. Hair has been left soft and shiny.

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
See above.

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
Yes. Floral without being overpowering.

5. Any other comments on initial use?
The treatment goes a long way, spreads over hair very quickly and there seems to be quite a bit left in the bottle.

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
Says it smelt very nice but didn't like the look of his hair while it was on... For all of ten minutes... Fusspot.

Iwaswatchingthat Sun 08-Sep-13 18:42:53

The second treatment was carried out last night on dd.

In the time between the first and the second treatment she did not complain of any more itching, but I wanted her to have the second treatment anyway.

I would have preferred the pack to have two smaller bottles in it so I could completely use one bottle for one treatment then completely use the other. Perhaps they could be labelled with 'first treatment' then 'use in 7 days'. Honestly when you are tired and busy things are not as obvious as they should be when things are less hectic!

Anyway because of this I felt like I did not have as much treatment left for the second application. Perhaps I went too OTT the first time as dd found it so soothing for the itching.

Despite this after applying to hair, leaving then rinsing, the wet combing revealed no more live or dead lice. So fingers crossed for lasting success.

I would use this product again.

Thanks Lyclear.

I've re-treated my hair. It's been itching like mad the last 2 days! Found 2 during initial treatment and itching stopped by the next day!
Found none tonight which I'm pleased about but doesn't explain why the intense itching has returned. Hopefully will be ok again now.

Will re-treat DDs tomorrow. Manic day today and no time before bed.

Sorry for the delay. Here's some feedback.

Treated both girls - one aged 9 and the other aged 7. Both have very long, thick hair which makes this whole nits thing hideous. Multiple attacks despite both having their hair tied up all the time. I have used many other treatments before - Hedrin, FullMarks, wet combing, etc.

1) first treatment. Went on we'll although greasiness had me dreading the 'washing out' process. Comb is useless - teeth way too far apart and I resorted to using others that I have which we're much more effective. Some Lice on both children still alive after the 10 minute period. Washing out blew me away as the product came out so easily and this is the only treatment I have ever tried that hasn't left both the girls with horrid greasy hair for ages afterwards.

Itching on both girls returned after about 3/4 days so I (or the product) must have missed some.

2) second treatment. Went on well and no complaints from the girls. Again washed out easily. Combed through and pulled out some more - including 'grown-ups'. Some again, still wriggling, so not all had been killed. Did this second treatment on Friday evening and so far, no more itching. I do intend to wet comb this week though to see what happens, although I'm really hoping this works.

So overall - well if you ignore the useless comb and use a nitty gritty, then this is probably my most favoured treatment after simple wet combing with conditioner.

insanityscratching Mon 09-Sep-13 06:38:32

Did second treatment and as expected more lice seeing as they weren't dead after the first application and still weren't dead after second application hmm. Used Nitty Gritty comb as superior to the one supplied. Unfortunately got impatient and decided to Hedrin her hair today instead which ensured everything was dead.
Won't be using again as for us it doesn't work and whilst it washes out easier than the usual treatments that's not enough of a positive when the lice are still crawling.

Ireallymustbemad Mon 09-Sep-13 07:58:52

Just reading the thread is making me itchy!!
On the basis there doesn't seem to be extra questions for the second application here goes.

DS2 (9) - who has had nits pretty much all summer despite many attempts to clear now seems to be nit free!!! smile smile
Second application didn't find anything at all.

DS1 (12) - who we'd previously thought was clear but then found more 10 days ago - first application found probably hundreds of eggs and about 15-20 lice, a few still active so wasn't overly hopeful that the treatment would have worked. Second application last night found no lice at all and a few eggs or egg casings only (less than 10).

DH and I are really impressed that the DC seem finally to be clear after months of attempts. I shall kill any child who reinfects them!!

I would buy this again although comments are

- Not enough for 8 applications (unless you have hair only a few mm long)
- £14.99 is loads!

Overall am really impressed - thanks for the free bottle.

Ireallymustbemad Mon 09-Sep-13 08:00:14

I would add a further comment - the comb isn't half as good as a nitty gritty comb.

Fingers crossed the dc stay free of nits now.

Tryharder Mon 09-Sep-13 09:33:01

1. Shampoo used on myself and children aged 9, 5 and 3. (2 boys and 1 girl)

2. We have had headlice twice before

3. Treatments in past were Hedrin for children and combing through with not comb for me

4. I cannot comment on the comb because it was not included in my pack

5 I found shampoo very effective on my children's hair as they have Afro hair which can't be combed

6. Shampoo very, very easy to use

7 it was very convenient

8 we had no issues with the greasiness, it was as expected for this kind of treatment

9 very easy to wash out

10 smell was ok, as expected for this kind of shampoo. Children did not comment

11 my children were happy to be treated with the shampoo. I find Hedrin and other treatments to be messy and the children complain. There were no problems using the shampoo and I would do so again.

Firstly about head lice:
1. Shampoo used on DD aged 4 (shoulder length hair)
2. She hasn't had head lice before
3. Have tried (not for DD), anti-lice ayurvedic shampoo (brand name Mediker) from India

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. Received fine toothed metal comb (not plastic) which was easy to use - used in combination with a Tangle Teezer
2. a. Same effectiveness as not got rid of lice. I had got rid of some lice and eggs when checking for lice, before the application. Found few live lice and loads of eggs after the application.
2. b. Lyclear was better to use. Clear Instructions. Would have helped if a measuring cup was included to measure out the approximate 25ml suggested per application. Or if the bottle included markings.
2. c. Lyclear's nozzle bottle was better; more convenient to use then the sachets tried in the past.
2. d. The greasiness was the same; ingredients in both treatments include oil
2. e. Lyclear was better and easier to wash out.
4. Yes, the fragrance was pleasant; DD liked it.
5. Step 3 of the instructions: 'Add sufficient amount of water to the hair to work up foam'. No foam was created - I am not sure if I used enough of the product (though covered hair and scalp as per step no. 2)
6. Yes, DD liked the shampoo and was excited about using it as she had seen the ad.

But DD still itchy and not got rid of lice...

Rishi79 Mon 09-Sep-13 15:43:50

Applied after 7 days, Haven't seen much improvement and Was struggling with DD about the 10 minutes wait as she hates washing her hair sad Does not look like, the fine toothed comb is getting more lice and eggs as haven't managed to get any out of her hair though she had some. Overall, The 10 minutes wait is the one thing I felt can be reduced!

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy

I'd say the words I would use seeing as dd still had crawling lice would be an expensive. ineffective treatment that in no way meets the claims of its advertising campaign which is also misleading as it makes no mention of the need to comb before and after treatment nor the need to repeat the process after seven days

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
No dd was still crawling so used Hedrin which ensured the crawling lice were dead.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
It wasn't more effective in fact it performed the same service as a cheap bottle of conditioner for 15 times the price
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
Never! £15 for two treatments that didn't work on dd and a comb that is laughable I consider a complete waste of time and money.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
No have already told dd's friend's mum not to bother with it and stick with Nitty Gritty and Hedrin as we normally do.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Use it as a conditioner before you comb using a nitty gritty comb because the greasiness helps the comb to go through easier.

Sorry Lyclear I couldn't be more positive but out of all the treatments I've used on dd I don't remember any of them not killing the adult lice and if that doesn't happen then repeating the process after seven days isn't going to work either as there will be more eggs laid and nits matured in that time.

snorris Wed 11-Sep-13 12:55:07

I have now done the second treatment on my unfortunate victims volunteers and for us certainly it has been effective. With 3 daughters to do and myself it was easy to have a bit of a production line going of checking, applying, washing and combing. With regard to treating the youngest (aged 4) it was more hassle free than combing with conditioner as she hates having her hair washed so I was able to keep rinsing to the bare essentials. I wouldn't say it is totally non-greasy but it washed off hands well and out of hair and I felt my girls' hair looked good afterwards too.

Prior to the first treatment I had found adult lice on the two older girls and none on the youngest. This time only one of the 10 year olds had some immature lice before application and after treating there were some more on her which were most definitely dead. I didn't find any at all on the other two before or after treatment and I still haven't found any on myself despite still itching confused. I combed with my nitty gritty comb after using the comb provided and nothing else came out so it has been effective. In addition I noticed the youngest had stopped scratching her head after the first treatment.

I would buy Lyclear if my usual method (combing) wasn't working as it has broken the cycle but it is quite expensive and what happens if they get re-infected from school/nursery? Would you constantly be using Lyclear? I would recommend it though to others as it seems to have worked for us and it is relatively easy to use.

I think there could be some way of gauging how much to use on each person as I seem to have a fair bit left over so I would say don't be afraid to put more on than you think. When I did my second treatment I put more than the first time and got a much better lather. I also found the tip in the instructions about dividing the hair into sections for combing useful as I had never thought about that blush.

a,b,c, de nitting is never hassle free and always greasy, this shampoo was very slippy.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? NOT enough left to do second treatments, myself and dd have long hair so with us two and ds that was all used up.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain

Well we all seem to be nit free after one treatment so works well.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain

I think so, although would need two bottles to treat everyone in the house.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain

b. Convenient nit treatment never is, but this was as convenient as it gets
c. Easy-to-use please see comment below from my original post on having two smaller bottles in the pack
d. Hassle-free see answer b
e. Non-greasy yes I did not think it was greasy

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? yes
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain definitely more effective than wet combing alone. I felt like I have really got rid of it this time.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain Yes I would as it has done the trick this time and faster than endless wet combing night after night
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain Yes I would as it worked
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment. Really massage it into the roots and scalp

Below is my first lot of feedback before the questions were given
The second treatment was carried out last night on dd.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain In itself, about the same as we've only done wet combing before, but overall more effective as we only did it twice (with wet combing, I did it every other night for ages)
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain Yes, it seems to have worked, DD liked the smell and it was relatively hassle free. It's quite pricey though.

We applied the second treatment a few days ago as instructed. Really impressed that there was enough in one bottle to treat all 3 dcs and me (not sure I needed it, but I tend to get a bit freaked out by the thought of headlice, so started scratching in sympathy!) which maybe makes up (a bit) for the high rrp.

All of the above. 2nd time round it seemed less greasy than I had thought - maybe we just got used to it, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and it did wash out really well.

For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs- better
b. Ease of use-better
c. Convenience-better
d. Greasiness of treatment- about the same
e. Ease of washing out treatment- about the same
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy

B, C, D, E It was oily to apply but didn't leave hair greasy once washed and rinsed. It was easy & convenient to use. Not sure I can say it was affective as after 2 treatments my daughter and I have some itching again. I found it hard to ensure all the hair was coated because of the oiliness of the lotion.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? No, see comments above.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain. I wouldn't say more effective but more pleasant and easier to use than other treatments. I think it would be good for a severe infestation, with wet combing to follow up.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain. I'd probably choose it over other treatments but like the others it's expensive and there was only just enough for me and my daughter to do 2 treatments (shoulder length hair).

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain. I'd say it smelled nice and didn't leave hair greasy like other treatments.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Making sure the hair is completely covered is important, probably need to use more than you think is necessary to make sure you haven't missed bits.

a. Effective--- For us Yes. Dd wasn't 'snided' but it was effective.
b. Convenient--- Yes if you are careful with the bottle.
c. Easy-to-use--- Yes.
d. Hassle-free---Pretty much.
e. Non-greasy--- a little bit greasier than other treatments but we have never used a shampoo type before.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?---Yes, completely clear.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain--- Yes but only with the nitty gritty comb, the comb that came with didn't do much for the eggs.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain--- I feel it is a little on the expensive side for us to buy regularly, To treat a whole family would become costly.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain---Yes I would but only if they were well off :~) But seriously, yes I would it did its job well, with a little help from nitty gritty.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Read the blurb properly. Its there for a reason. Use smaller amounts to get a good foamy lather, massage it in well and rinse well too, Perhaps change the comb though.

Thanks Lyclear and Mumsnet, you helped me get rid of the pesky critters.

Svrider Wed 11-Sep-13 18:06:13

Didn't have any left for second treatment
The kids do seem less itchy after only one treatment
I thought it was convenient and washed out nicely
Would cost me around £30 treat whole family, cheaper than hedrin but £30 is lot for us
Yes I would recommend it, overall but would also tell another mum about the pharmacy first scheme where lice ttreatments are avaiable free from the chemist

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy
All of these, although it is greasy going on it washes out easily and doesn't leave hair at all greasy after washing.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Yes, it seems very effective, I think they've all gone.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
N/A

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
It seems quite pricey but is probably worth it as it's so effective and contains several treatments per bottle.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
Yes as it's very easy to use and I like the way it works meaning headlice cannot become resistant to it.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Just follow the instructions really - it is very simple to use. The only thing I found difficult about it was the runniness of the solution, making it hard to hold in your hand and apply. It would be a lot easier if it was thicker (more like shampoo thickness)

dstill1964 Wed 11-Sep-13 21:56:20

1:Oh my goodness ; I am so impressed that this has worked and far exceeded my expectations .Am one happy Mum!! Most definitely a,b,c,d and e.Took hardly any time at all to use and left our hair well conditioned too.
2: Have been eggs and nit free since first application and no tell tale scratching anymore. I reapplied as per instructions to be sure.
3: Have literally tried every other product to no avail but this is truly marvellous.
4: Would most definitely not hesitate to pay for this as is well worth the price
5: yes.yes and yes; I will without a doubt spread the lyclear word around as I know so many other people who are having the same problem.
6: My only problem was persuading my children that the product wasn't smelly, wouldn't have to be left overnight and didn't involve tediously combing through their long hair for ages. They simply couldn't believe that it would take such a short time to rid them of the nits and both enjoyed having the product massaged into their hair.

Answering the first lot of questions:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
2 daughters 8 and 6 years old
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?

No, we have had them off and on since about June

3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
We have been using Hedrin and Nitty Gritty comb
Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Fairly easy
Now after the second treatment, the hair is looknig better and seems to have got rid of eggs and no new nits
b. Ease of use
Pretty easy, it was fairly easy to apply and to cover the whole head and hair and to see whether the whole of the hair - both my daughters have lots of hair
c. Convenience
Fairly because it only needs to be left on for 10 minutes rather than a whole day
d. Greasiness of treatment
Very greasy and oily, my hands were dripping with oil and I had to be careful that my daughters didnt lean their heads on anything during the 10 minute waiting time otherwise that would have been marked by the oil
e. Ease of washing out treatment
Fairly easy but I needed to use quite a lot of shampoo to make sure it was all out
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above:
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo?
I dont think that I particularly noticed the smell so it probably wasnt too overpowering
5. Any other comments on initial use?
It left my daughters' hair quite soft!
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
THey liked the fact that they didnt have to sleep with the treatment on their hair, didnt really comment otherwise on the shampoo

fruitcorner Wed 11-Sep-13 22:34:55

Having also done the second treatment, I will answer the next lot of questions:-
Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?

Convenient
Easy to Use
Definitely not non-greasy as it was very oily but that I didnt really mind the grease.
I liked that it was quick to use and for me easier to apply than using the mousse treatment that I had previously use and which I found difficult to apply effectively.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?

Seems to have been so far
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain

I found it easier to use, I am hoping it was more effective but I did second treatment in last day or so, so will continue to wet comb with Nitty Gritty comb to get rid of any that are lingering

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain

Possibly although it is fairly expensive and although it states that it is for 8 applications, we have used bottle on 2 daughters with long hair. On the other hand, better to spend more money on something that works than less on somethign that is less effective.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain

Yes but not as unarguably the best, rather that is was easy, convenient and acceptable to my daughters and seems to have worked.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?

Really coat the hair, use more than is recommended, use with Nitty Gritty Comb whiCH I think is better than the comb supplied.

Littlemousewithcloggson Thu 12-Sep-13 09:05:58

It was effective, hassle free, convenient, and easy to use. Bit greasy but not as greasy as others.

Combing after 2nd application there were no adult lice (crawling before 1st) but were some immature lice. Some eggs were still left so I feel a 3rd treatment is necessary.

Definitely easier to use and very easy to wash out.

Would definitely consider buying again but feel it is a bit expensive . If under £12 would definitely buy. Would rather pay less and not have the comb which is ok but not as good as nitty gritty.

Yes, I would definitely recommend it to others.

Don't use too much, it does work. Leave on for the full ten minutes. Wash hair a second time as it looks like the lyclear foam is washed out when it is still clinging to the hair. As regards comb the nitty gritty one is more effective.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments

d. Hassle-free-Was hassle free compared to other treatments
e. Non-greasy-A little greasy but easy to wash out

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?

After 2nd treatment the girls have still been scratching and I have still found baby lice on myself so not effective

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain

I did initially think it was more effective as the lice were jumping off during 1st treatment. We did clear a lot out and they were dead unlike other treatments we have used.Still found some on us during 2nd treatment though

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain

May buy it again but there wasn't enough to do 2 treatments on 3 of us

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain

Yes I think I would recommend
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?

Use a different comb

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain. Yes but I would say it is still expensive, more so than combing with conditioner
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Use it twice, and combine with conditioner as well

florencebabyjo Thu 12-Sep-13 16:50:44

Firstly about head lice:
1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age DD age 2 and a half
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? The first time
3. What treatments have you tried in the past? I have been struggling with wet combing but can't seem to get them all

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? The comb was bendy and I didn't feel like it was effective. Maybe metal would have been better
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs Yes! They were droppig out on her pillow, disgusting but good!
b. Ease of use
It was easy but greasy feeling
c. Convenience
I liked the speed of application and that it didn't have to be on for ages.
d. Greasiness of treatment
It did feel pretty greasy and got everywhere! It was also dribbly
e. Ease of washing out treatment
It washed out very easily
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: It was definitely easier and less time consuming than combing twice a day
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Yes
5. Any other comments on initial use? It was much easier to use on a young child who was having trouble keeping still for the length of time it took to wet comb.
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
She didn't really have an opinion.

Bonkerz Thu 12-Sep-13 19:44:01

Sorry I am late to this. Things got manically busy :0(
Ok first feedback

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age: daughter age 7 also myself as a precaution.

2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice? No, the local nit colony seem to love my dds thick clean hair!

3. What treatments have you tried in the past? Tea tree, shampoo.....I tend to avoid chemicals as have nightmares about that, stinky prioderm cream my mum used to use!

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? The comb was fab. I loved the long metal teeth as dd has thick hair so I felt more confident that this could deal with the hair and not break like the plastic ones.

2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:

a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs.......better
b. Ease of use......same
c. Convenience.......worse only because i would have to go chemist first but always have conditioner in
d. Greasiness of treatment......not at all
e. Ease of washing out treatment.......same

3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: the fact that I didn't have to spend days even weeks combing was a blessing as the shampoo did what it said it would and killed the beasties!

4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Nice pleasant smell, not over powering.

5. Any other comments on initial use? Fuss free and easy thanks to the comb

6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought....... She did comment it took less time and she preferred the metal comb to the plastic comb!

Bonkerz Thu 12-Sep-13 19:51:46

And second feedback (initial treatment done 01/09/2013, second treatment done 08/09/2013)

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy
All of the above really. It was a fuss free experience made easier by the strong long tooth comb and the effectiveness of the shampoo. On checking dds hair 7 days after initial treatment (I had combed through every day and pulled a few eggs and dead nits) I found no lice what so ever but used the shampoo anyway to make sure! None seen since!

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? Yes. See above comment

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? I have been using the wet comb/conditioner method and lyclear was fab in comparison for speed and effectiveness and effort!

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) The price point is slightly on the high side. It would depend how riddled she was before I spent that much. I wet comb regular and use tea tree spray so would prefer to prevent than cure but would consider buying if lots of nits.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Yes I would but the ££ is an issue.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Comb effectively.

Stupidquestionsaplenty Fri 13-Sep-13 09:45:08

Sorry for the delay in feedback, non sleeping children aplenty here hmm

1. Who in your family is being treated for head lice? Please include gender and age
Dd 9 and ds 5, though I did myself too as I'm paranoid.
2. Is this the first time they've had head lice? If no, how many times have they had head lice?
First time for ds, dd had them once before when she was about 5.
3. What treatments have you tried in the past?
We've always just used a nitty gritty comb

Secondly about Lyclear Treatment Shampoo:
1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb? I thought the comb was rubbish tbh. It got no eggs out at all, so I resorted to using the nitty gritty first.
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. For each of the following statements please say if Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was better, about the same or worse than other treatments you may have used:
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs worse
b. Ease of use about the same
c. Convenience about the same
d. Greasiness of treatment. Much much worse
e. Ease of washing out treatment worse
3. Please provide more details if you felt Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was worse than previous treatments for any of the above: obviously a nitty gritty is very easy but we seemed to have super nits this time and just couldn't get rid of them. The comb that came with lyclear was all but useless and that didn't get me off to a good start. It also felt very greasy and even though I washed it out with regular shampoo afterwards our hair looked lank for a few days.
4. Did you like the fragrance or smell of Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? I didn't really mind it
5. Any other comments on initial use? Bit of a faff and very greasy
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought they were both very impatient by the time it was ready to wash off, but compared to the nit treatments I remember from my childhood it was completely inoffensive

Stupidquestionsaplenty Fri 13-Sep-13 09:50:57

And the update

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy
I did find it easy, much easier the second time when I knew what I was doing. It was also effective as a try with the nitty gritty last night revelled clear heads on us all. But it wasn't particularly hassle free, I found the comb very frustrating as I knew it just wasn't as effective as the nitty gritty, and I found it very oily.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Yes, all gone (hopefully forever)

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
It certainly made the difference this time, knowing it was actually killing the nits was reassuring, rather than having to rely on not missing any with the nitty gritty.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
It's very expensive and I'd balk at the price a little, but needs must when it comes to nits.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
Yes. I'd recommend the nitty gritty as a first resort but this did the job.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Maybe don't do it in the bathroom initially. Get them to sit in front of the tv while it works, and only then march off to the bathroom. That way they didn't really notice. And get a decent nit comb to go with it.

All selected testers who add at least two lots of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win £250 worth of Love2Shop vouchers.

Yes seems so.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
Again - prefer Nitty Gritty, don't think £14.99 is good value, not keen on using chemicals really.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
No would always recommend Nitty Gritty and conditioner

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?

Follow instructions, comb thoroughly and use an old towel on shoulders to prevent it running.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?

Wouldn't say the best at the first application. Have seen the eggs floating dead. DD was scratching still after the first application and had to go for the second treatment. It is been 5 days after the second application and Scratching seems to have reduced a bit but I am doing the dry combing almost everyday and wet combing once in two days. Will post the net result in another 5 days time.

Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective at removing most head lice and eggs
lice did come out faint/dead. couldn't manage to get eggs but have seen them sticked the hair as dead. Might have to comb better i think. After the second application the scratching reduced.
b. Convenient
washing my DD's hair was always a nightmare, felt it was tangled more after wash.
c. Easy-to-use
My daughter has a long hair and takes quite a good amount of shampoo. oil based made it easy to apply.
d. Hassle-free
To avoid greasy hair, may have to wash twice. I don't think anything is hassle free when dealing with a long hair sad
e. Non-greasy
More Greasy though. Because it was over the weekend, I didnt really bother to shampoo twice and left it just making sure that it is washed thoroughly.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Not all but most. A bit of dry combing is still continued. Should be a good effect in a weeks time.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
I have only used wet combing before and Yes, Using Lyclear was useful and effective.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
A Bit expensive really. Wish she doesn't get any more. I would prefer to go for a smaller bottle and continue wet combing considering the price unless she has a very bad scratchy head.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
Yes definitely. Though it was not faster it is effective. So will definitely mention this to friends. Not sure if they would prefer to wait for 2 weeks to clear all the lice.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Wet combing did help to get the lice that were floatin/fainted. I am not happy with the comb provided, The one I buy from supermarket for 30P works great as it has very fine toothed comb and I had to use it instead of the one provided.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? Yes, it was effective.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain. I would say that the treatment is more effective. Maybe doing again after 7 days has something to do with it.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain. I would be reluctant as it is expensive, but I'd more than likely as it works.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain. Yes, I would recommend as I've found it effective at treating lice. The only bugbear is having to do it twice, and working out how much to use.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Depending on hair type, I'd suggest using a different comb. Other than that just follow the instructions.

Thanks

For your second feedback post we would like you to add your overall opinions on Lyclear Treatment Shampoo. Please answer the following questions once you've completed the second application.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?

Effective
Convenient
Easy-to-use

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
It seems to have been effective as I can no longer see any eggs or lice

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments?
I found it more effective than Full Marks that I have previously used as I could still see lice after I used that

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99)
Yes I would use it again as it's the most effective treatment I have found

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Yes I would as so far it seems to have worked

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
I'd recommend using a different comb, I ended up using the nitty gritty comb as I found the teeth too far apart on the one that came with the shampoo and definitely make sure you use a towel over shoulders as it does tend to run everywhere!

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
a. Effective - seemed to clear the headlice really well.
b. Convenient - reasonably
c. Easy-to-use - yes
d. Hassle-free - yes

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? Yes, it was, the head was clear and eggs were not seen.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Lyclear was alot easier than my traditional method of combing conditioner through the head and combing out. Also the zapping comb I had didn't always work.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Yes I would.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Yes, I would.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Read the instructions carefully, we didn't have a comb with our box, so I used my nit comb which worked well, not sure how it would have been if I had had the original Lyclear comb in the box.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
Effective, Convenient, Easy-to-use, Hassle-free, not too greasy. The kids didn't object to it, and it seemed to work well.
2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Yes, they have all gone, but I wet-combed their hair in between treatments too.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
N/A
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
I would buy it if wet-combing wasn't working, but the price would put me off rushing out to get some straight away.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
Yes, again, if wet-combing had failed first.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Make sure the hair and scalp are properly covered, leave on for the full amount of time, and make sure that the second application is completed.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Incredibly effective! Finally we are head lice free!
Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective- very
b. Convenient- very
c. Easy-to-use- yes
d. Hassle-free- yes
e. Non-greasy- disagree

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? 100%
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain 100% more effective. Dd has had headlice for approximately 12 weeks, despite many, many products. But now, she is nit free!
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain I would resent the price as my dd has long, thick ringlets so we only got 2 applications out of a bottle, therefore it would be an expensive treatment. However, we wasted so much money on other products, I would go to this one now first time.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain. Absolutely! I have just done so!
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Follow the instructions to the letter. Use more product than perhaps you think you need!!

madbutnotbad Sun 15-Sep-13 09:54:58

1, Effective and easy to use
2, I did not find any live nits after the first treatment and treated again a week later and would expect not to find any now.
3, I found it more effective than the other treatments that I have used.
4, I may use it although I found the price quite off putting I would not be able to afford it every time my children get nits.
5, Again I found the product worked well but I would be nervous about recommending something so expensive.
6, Follow the instructions to the letter, use the comb carefully and repeat a week later!

Second feedback post
1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments

a. Effective
 Not sure.
b. Convenient
 Yes.
c. Easy-to-use
Yes.
d. Hassle-free
Yes.
e. Non-greasy

Yes.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?

After the second treatment, we found several live baby lice but no adults. I don’t think it’s really possible for a treatment to ‘kill’ the eggs. My DD’s hair is littered with empty egg ‘cases’, which I’m fighting a losing battle to remove. Like the live egg cases, the only way to remove them is to slide each one individually off the hair shaft. Very time-consuming: it would take weeks to remove all of them.
After the second treatment, there were still plenty of ‘live’ (dark coloured) egg cases left in her hair as well.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain

It’s difficult to say whether it was more effective than previous treatments. It’s certainly easier to use and wash out, but there are still eggs (which if left will hatch into live lice and the cycle will continue).

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain

I think it’s expensive. It works well for killing the live nits but doesn’t ‘kill’ the eggs. I’m not convinced it works any better than repeated conditioning and combing.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain

Yes for killing live lice. No for getting rid of/killing eggs. Sadly this job has to be done manually.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Repeat a third time (we just did that and haven’t found any live lice, although the eggs remain and will do so until I find the time to slide every last one off individually).

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective - not entirely, see below
b. Convenient - OK
c. Easy-to-use - OK
d. Hassle-free - OK
e. Non-greasy - OK

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? - about 4 days after the first treatment my head was still itching and I had to do some wet combing with conditioner. I wasn't sure if I should have done the 2nd treatment early. Neither DS or I have had any further signs of nits since the 2nd application
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain - I have used Hedrin Once before and it did work with just one treatment so having to do it twice isn't as convenient
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain - Im not sure I could justify the extra cost compared to other treatments you can buy off the shelf but would but if it was on offer
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain - I would tell people that it seems to work as well as other chemical treatments
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? - I would combine it with wet combing for a belt and braces solution

Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy
All if the above.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Yes, hardly anything left after the first treatment, just a couple of eggs on DS, DH had nothing.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
Yes, as there were no live lice after treatment whereas with others there have still been runners.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
Yes I think so. It goes a long way and was much gentler on hair and scalp than other treatments we have used. There were no complaints of stinging and it didn't make the hair dry and frizzy. In fact, DS looks better than normal after treatment, very soft and shiny!

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
If anyone asked, yes. It doesn't stink, doesn't wreck your hair and works very well, what's not to recommend?

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
It goes a long way so you don't have to squirt it all over the place, there should be enough to do a whole family on average.

Thanks for letting us test!

We still had a couple of live lice two days after the second treatment
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
We've been wet combing and always get some lice each week so this was as effective as wet combing
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
No. I would carry on with wet combing as it is cheaper
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
No. It is too expensive for something that only worked as effectively as wet combing

a-e would all apply to Lyclear. My only comment to add would be to echo a PP in that 2 separate bottles with First Application and Second Application would definitely make it easier to judge how much to use. I too was over enthusiastic in my first application and then had to eek out the second.
2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Yes so far. Will continue to wet comb for another 7 days to be absolutely certain
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
It has certainly felt more effective up to this point-Just to note that I used my own Nitty Gritty comb for both applications as I felt the one supplied didn't have as close together teeth
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
Yes I think I would in spite of the price. I felt it was easy to use with an inoffensive smell compared to other lice treatments and most importantly, my children didn't moan
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
It would certainly rank highly in my list of Lice Advice. I still think constant combing with a Nitty Gritty is top
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Use with a Nitty Gritty Comb. Don't over use on the first application-remember it has to do two lots!

Convenient!! Not having to leave it on overnight is very handy, although it was very drying on my hair. Very easy to use.

They seem to have gone fingers crossed!!

Yes because of the convenience.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?

Do everybody at the same sitting and lots of conditioner afterwards!!

2.second outbreak

1. How easy did you find using the fine toothed comb?
Its ok, but son didn't like it as his hair is a little longer than last time we treated
2. How did Lyclear Treatment Shampoo compare to other treatments you've used in the past? Please note Lyclear is clinically proven to kill 100% of head lice after the second treatment is complete. Its a nicer smell than the medical smell I was expecting
5. Any other comments on initial use?
It was easier than I thought it would be as the boy hates being treated for Nits
6. Did your child like the shampoo? Please say what they thought
He didn't like it but that was because he hates me washing his hair!

For your second feedback post we would like you to add your overall opinions on Lyclear Treatment Shampoo. Please answer the following questions once you've completed the second application.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Convenient

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
After 3rd treatment, I seem to have gotten rid of nearly all of them, but not 100% effective at all!!!!

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments?
No more effective than wet combing.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99)
No

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? No

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Don't bother with it.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?

a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy

All of them. We're nit free for the first time in ages!

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
I combed every night between treatments and only found eggs & a couple of dead lice. I've found nothing so far since, so fingers crossed we're clear. I deliberately didn't give feed back for a while after the second treatment to allow any eggs time to hatch, but I've found nothing,

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments?
Definitely - we've used other products before that haven't worked, but this has. Other products just haven't been as effective - they've killed some, but not all and combing which is time consuming (and hurts my back!) is the only way to keep on top of them.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Yep - it's more expensive than other treatents, but worth it. I wouldn't even mind if it was tricky to use or really greasy so long as it worked, but it wasn't either.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people?
Yep - it works where others haven't.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
I didn't find the comb that came with the treatment much use - A nitty gritty was very helpful instead.

Second feedback:

1) Effective, convenient and easy to use - yes
Non-greasy - No. Thought it was quite oily
Hassle free - No head lice treatment is hassle free in my opinion!.

2) It was ok to use and worked, although my son didn't have a bad case of lice. Couldn't find any after the first treatment so I'm confident it sorted it after the second.

3) I found it to be about the same as others.

4) I would if I really had to but I think its very expensive.

5) Yes I would recommend it, although I haven't had a lot of experience with head lice and various treatments.

6) Use a better comb rather than the one provided. Didn't find the comb included effective at all.

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy

Kind of effective - I'd quibble with it being 100% effective as that wasn't my experience, but all the other phrases would fit.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?

Most, not all, but that was with DD who has very long thick curly hair which is a pita to treat. Boys were completely clear.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain

Not more effective (at least in regards to DD) but definitely easier to use than other treatments.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain

I'd consider it purely because of ease of use, but it wouldn't be automatic because the cost is quite high. Wet combing is a pita but works and is considerably cheaper!

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain

Yes, because it's so easy to use and works well.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Probably to use more generously than I did smile

Sindarella Tue 17-Sep-13 20:20:44

All of the above, a bit of a hassle but i guess de-lousing always is!

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
TBH seemed effective after first treatment but I still did the second

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
N/A

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
Yes, I think so as it did the job and was faiely easy to use. The comb should be better though, especially for that price!

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
Apart from the reservation about the comb being flimsy yes

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
We used a comb from the chemist, apart from that followed the instructions and it worked!

Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective (first treatment was 2nd wasn't as still had live lice)
b. Convenient
c. Easy-to-use
d. Hassle-free
e. Non-greasy

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? Not the 2nd treatment, no. Was a bit more than 7 days after 1st treatment and DD2 had lice again but they were still alive after treating.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
It was more effective the first treatment bit as above, failed to kill lice the 2nd time.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
Possibly! After 1s treatment I would have said yes 100% would use again but after failed 2nd use, I'm now not so sure.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
Yes, I think I would.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Use a better comb! The nitty gritty is better at removing lice than the one supplied.

Thanks for letting is test it. Just a shame 2nd treatment wasn't as positive as the first.

This is my second lot of feedback,

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?

a. Effective Yes it did clear the lice but ater 2 applications as there were a few left over after the first
b. Convenient Yes, I liked the speed of the treatment process and not having to wait for hours
c. Easy-to-use Yes, it was easy to use but messy
d. Hassle-free Again, the mess was irritating, but worth it
e. Non-greasy I did feel it was greasy and didn't like the feel of it, but my DD didn't mind.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? Yes
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain I have used wet combing before and it was definitely quicker and easier than this, especially with a 2 year old.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain I would consider it, but it is expensive and I think it wouldn't be enough to cover my other older DD's very long hair. It would then be too expensive and isn't available on prescription in our area.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain Yes, for speed of treatment.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Make sure you really soak the hair and get straight to the roots in the key areas. Repeat the treatment as instructions.

It was not completely non-greasy though - both my daughters' hair looked greasy and lank after treating - mine was OK as I used the shower, but it was not so easy to get out in a bath situation - I would use fresh water in jugs or something in future.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? I think so - so far so good. I can see no sign.

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain. Yes - more effective - the thicker lather I think seemed good at making sure no lice escaped the treatment ingredients. It also is better-smelling, and seemed to leave my daughters itch-free pretty much straight away.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain I would by it as experience suggests to me that there is no point trying anything cheaper, and the current conditioner-only-nitty-gritty-comb trend hasn't worked as well for us.

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain Yes I would - I know many people struggling with this. I'd like to get everyone in my daughter;s class at school to use it.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
?? Not sure - use in the bath - ten minutes' play time then rinsing, is the easiest thing to do - the first time I tried it before getting it in the bath, and that was messier.

Thanks very much

Quick update, DD2 was lice free when combed with conditioner last night. DD1 had 3 but they were very much dead!
So I'm very happy with that. Just hope they stay clear for a while!

Probably about the same

Initially I would use the comb and tea tree oil treatment. If there wouldn't shift, then I would try Lyclear

Yes, I think so. I would say its much more effective on short hair, though.

6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Make sure that the hair is thoroughly combed, and after the treatment, comb through again.

First treatment on D's 10 who has had head lice since time began sadangry

went onto the hair fine, loved the nozzle which meant it got to the roots. used the comb to make sure it was coating all the hair and caught 4 live lice.

didn't find it any more greasy than anything else we have used in the past but it def smelled much nicer smile

It did drip a bit during the 10 main wait but a towel solved that.

Really impressed with how easily it washed out!

combed through hair after and found another 2 adults and countless baby lice - all dead thank goodness.

After reading some of the other feedback I did go through his hair again with the nitty gritty comb but didn't find any thing else.

I'm happy so far grin

Tryharder Mon 23-Sep-13 13:36:35

1. I would describe it as easy to use, convenient and effective

2. Overall I found it effective

3. I didn't find it any more or less effective than other products

4. I might buy it again but it's pricey. Would see what I can get on prescription from the GP first

5. Yes, I would recommend to mothers with children whose hair cannot be combed like mine

6. I left the shampoo on a little while with a shower cap to stop drips to ensure headlice dead

KeepTryin Mon 23-Sep-13 16:40:30

Sorry just adding 2nd feed back now. I can't seem to shift my lice. I like the lyclear. Easy to use etc but I think I have a mutant strain of foreign lice!!! Considering shaving my head!confusedwink

None of the above, it didn't get rid of all the head lice, combing before and after the application took twice as long as wet combing, and although it didn't look greasy on the head, I was really greasy to use.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? We used the nitty gritty after second application and that got them all out.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
About the same, works OK but doesn't get all, no miracle cure.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
No, way to expensive, bottle of tea tree conditioner is much cheaper.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
No
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Pop it in the bin, buy a nitty gritty and bulk buy conditioner

A shame, as I really hoped it would be the miracle we crave.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain I would use it again but £14.99 for 1 bottle with a child who has long thick hair wouldn't last if the rest of the household got them too. It's too expensive
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain I would recommend but advise very expensive
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Make sure you use it correctly & Wet comb in between

yes we did
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain

I found that any lice that were removed after the treatment had been used were dead, as opposed to still having some live ones after using a different treatment previously

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain

I would if I had sufficient funds, unfortunately £14.99 is a little bit pricey, even when compared to other products. I prefer using this but don't always have the spare cash and would then choose a cheaper treatment

5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain

3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Again no, it did kill a lot of lice and eggs. But I still had to Go through there hair with a nitty gritty comb. To remove everything.

4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain it is expensive, but if the treatment works first time every time, then it would be worth the money. No, it is really expensive. right second treatment feedback -

found 4 adult lice but only a couple if baby lice this time after treating which makes me think ds is collecting them at school angry

again easy treatment and I will def use again if we have an infestation. will also carry on with the combing and conditioning as well and use the lyclear as a last resort as the other method is a lot cheaper! Mainly because there are 6 in our household and it all gets rather expensive.

I will recommend to other people tho.

I would be more interested if there were different sized bottles eg 2 people treatments or 4 especially if the bigger bottles worked out cheaper per treatment smile

thank you for letting me trial the product - ds has def had some relief from his ''little problem'' grin

I found more nits and eggs second time round so not effective. My kids and me don't really like any of the nit shampoo's, even with a towel on there shoulders it drips every wear. Also its greasy.

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? No, mullered them with conditioner and nitty grit.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
Gets rid of some but as previous poster said, no miracle cure.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
It is expensive so probably not.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
No, because don't think it is different to any other treatment.

OK, second feedback:

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective - not 100%
b. Convenient - as convenient as any other treatment I've used
c. Easy-to-use - as above
d. Hassle-free - as above
e. Non-greasy - this is a greasy product which requires several shampoos to fully remove

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? not 100%. There were loads of lice still there after the first treatment and there are already a few crawling around several days after the second treatment
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain no, because it has not rid my daughter of headlice.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain no, because it is not as effective as treatments I've used previously. If it was effective and less greasy I would happily pay the RRP
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain no for reasons above
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
apply outside as it is v greasy. Also the comb provided is not effective is use a different one that really does get out all the lice and eggs.

missusjen Fri 27-Sep-13 12:50:47

Sorry for the stunning delay! I broke my leg and as my other half is recovering from Meningitis and we've 7 children, the world went insane and I completely forgot!!!
Thankfully I had written everything in my diary, so I've notes to go on!

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?

a. Effective - yes, very
b. Convenient - yes
c. Easy-to-use - yes, very
d. Hassle-free - yes
e. Non-greasy - medium

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? It certainly appears so as we are completely lice free at the moment as far as I'm aware. My 15 year old was a particular concern as he has loads of very long hair and obviously isn't ken on Mum combing through so much, but he has no lice now.
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? We've 7 children aged from 19-3, we've had headlice here many many times. I did find the Lyclear was more effective, it really does seem to have caught all of the lice, which is not something I've particularly found in the past.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) I think I would after trying repeated combing. I've spent hundreds on shampoos over the years and if I wanted to simply be rid of lice, with the quickest and least time-consuming method, I'd buy Lyclear.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? I would. I think I'd always recommend repeated combing, but I'm happy enough with Lyclear that I'd recommend it to someone who was stressed or short on time.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment? Use alongside combing through with the comb definitely. Set aside a time and day that suits, and repeat the treatment strictly a week later, alongside a re-combing. Check again a week afterwards.

Once again sorry for the delay and thank you for letting me take part in the trial!

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment? Still a couple left, am going in for a third application
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? yes, nits are now manageable even though not eradicated completely
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) ask me again, if the third application works - my daughter has very long, curly hair, not sure if this has inhibited the process
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? see answer to 4 above, was certainly not difficult to use but the comb was useless
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
use with nitty gritty comb

have done the 2nd treatment.
i would say it was very effective. we had no lice afterwards and all is well and creepy crawly free in the household smile

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use?
Please copy any relevant answers that apply in your post and add any additional comments
a. Effective - no
b. Convenient - it would be if it worked
c. Easy-to-use - yes
d. Hassle-free - no, it didn't kill all the head lice and actually disrupted the routine we'd got into of combing with conditioner
e. Non-greasy - greasy to apply, but thankfully it washes out well

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Unfortunately not - the DC have itchy heads again sad
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments? Please explain
I found it less effective tbh, I think the week between the two treatments was too long as it allowed the cycle to develop of eggs hatching etc.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain
£14.99 is shockingly expensive! I wouldn't buy it again as it didn't work for us. If I was going to spend £14.99 I would buy something like Hedrin Once to totally blitz the DC's hair. It seems like nit combs and conditioner work as well, if not better than Lyclear and are much cheaper.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain
No sorry. Good marketing campaign but the product does not live up to the hype.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
If I used Lyclear again I would use a nitty gritty comb rather than the one supplied, and I would also use the nit comb + conditioner every other day between the two Lyclear treatments.

MNHQ - just wondering if the manufacturers of Lyclear wanted to comment, given that a lot of the 2nd reviews basically state that the product didn't work. Did we all do something wrong? Could the product be improved?

1. Overall how did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? Which of the following words would you use? Found easy to use, once I realised that I didn't have to shampoo out ! Slick, efficient.

b. Convenient - yes, that you didn't have to shampoo out
c. Easy-to-use - yes
d. Hassle-free - yes, hair looked better afterwards, no tell tale greasy hair the next day.
e. Non-greasy - yes, see above

2. Did you find that Lyclear Treatment Shampoo was effective at killing all head lice and their eggs after the second treatment?
Yes
3. If you have treated head lice before, did you find Lyclear Treatment Shampoo more effective than previous treatments?
Not more effective, but more pleasant to use.
4. If your child or someone in your family caught head lice again would you buy Lyclear Treatment Shampoo? (RRP £14.99) Please explain.
I wouldn't pay for any treatment unless desperate. Prefer to wet comb.
5. Would you recommend Lyclear Treatment Shampoo to other people? Please explain -
if continually getting nits or couldn't be bothered with wet combing, then yes.
6. What are your top tips for getting the most out of the treatment?
Read the instructions & be thorough with your combing.
