NOW CLOSED: Looking for a new breakfast idea for yourself? Testers needed for new McVitie's Breakfast Biscuits. £250 voucher to be won for feedback

(200 Posts)
AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 09-Jan-13 10:18:06

We've been asked by the team at McVitie's to find 50 testers to try their new Breakfast Biscuits. McVities say "Today more and more consumers are too busy, or start their commute too early, to enjoy breakfast at home; consequently the market for out of home breakfast solutions is fast-growing - and McVitie's Breakfast Biscuits provide the perfect answer. Using our passion for baking, we've created a range of unique recipes, specially designed for breakfast. We've taken a handful of hearty porridge oats and added a range of ingredients like fruit and honey to create sustaining and delicious breakfast biscuits".

The Breakfast Biscuits are baked until "perfectly golden, to enjoy as a part of a deliciously satisfying breakfast". They are also portion-wrapped in handy packets of four biscuits six packs per box. And available in Oats & Honey, Red Berries and Apple, Sultana & Cinnamon flavours.

RRP: £2.29 for a 6 pack carton

We need to find 50 UK based testers for this - we are especially looking for MNers who are on the look out for something new for breakfast and who like the sound of these new bars.

If you are selected to take part you'll be sent 3 packs - one of each variety and asked to try them over a few days. We'd then need you to add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet

Everyone who is selected as a tester and adds feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £250 voucher.

If you'd like to take part please add your details here

Thanks and good luck

I've put down my work address as when I take part in these things I always end up way behind with my feedback as I inevitably end up having to collect from the sorting office!

Is that ok, or will I be ruled out for that?

Have done it!

Shallishanti Wed 09-Jan-13 19:39:21

you have read, haven't you, that it can be enjoyed as PART of a nutritious breakfast?
in other words you need to add some proper food in order to get a proper breakfast?
you may as well stay at home 5 mins longer and have a bit of toast! Have bisuits for breakfast if you want, but no need to pay all that and kid yourself you have eaten properly!

I'd love to - need to leave home early with 3 children inc 2 teenagers who just won't eat breakfast because it means less time in bed! Sounds like a great get going quickly idea to me. I already get up at 6 so there's no wriggle room in the mornings!

I generally don't feel like I want to eat anything in the first hour after getting up, so if there was something that I actually liked (but could kid myself it wasn't a biscuit) that was easy to eat on the train that would be great.

lubeybooby Wed 23-Jan-13 10:59:30

I have received mine - but

Instead of three packs, one of each flavour, I've got eight packs of the red berries one confused

McNo Wed 23-Jan-13 11:58:09

Me too - 8 boxes of red berries - looking forward to testing though smile

Me 3, a whole box of red berries. Is it wrong I want to dive right in & try them now?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth Wed 23-Jan-13 12:43:27

MNHQ I didnt recieve an email but have just recieved a box of biscuits, I havent been recieving surveys lately either confused

Have also only got red berry flavour

Skivvytomany Wed 23-Jan-13 12:54:12

I've got a whole box of red berry biscuits too. I've had a couple of biscuits and I really like them. Wish it had been a mixed box so I old try he other flavours though.

mindingalongtime Wed 23-Jan-13 14:08:59

I'm glad I didn't get any, the puerile ads onTV are driving me mad every morning, though my minded children would have probably eaten them for me.

ControlGeek Wed 23-Jan-13 15:27:56

Same here, a whole box of the red berries ones. My poor DP just looked at me when I got home, as if to say 'What have you been buying now ???'

EauRouge Wed 23-Jan-13 15:41:01

I was just going to post on here that you'd accidentally sent me all of the biscuits for the trial but it looks like I'm not alone! 8 boxes of red berry flavour and not complaining one bit grin

TheOtherHelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 23-Jan-13 15:52:04

Hi all - just posting for AnnMumsnet who's crying in a corner cos she didn't get a box of red berry biscuits...sad

She'll get in touch with McVitie's and report back as soon as she can

smilingthroughgrittedteeth Wed 23-Jan-13 20:17:31

Does that mean we all get a whole box of the other flavours too grin

Indith Wed 23-Jan-13 20:19:17

I too got a massive box of red berry biscuits today.

I've tried them already and I'm afraid I thought they were pretty horrible. Dry and generally not very nice.

That's for the feedback thread though.

FrillyMilly Wed 23-Jan-13 20:33:41

I also have 8 boxes of red berry! I hope I like them or its going to be a bit of a waste.

KindleMum Thu 24-Jan-13 08:45:38

I've 8 boxes of red berry too. Bit disappointed as I was looking forward to trying all the flavours.

EauRouge Thu 24-Jan-13 08:47:48

Indith, try them dunked in a cup of tea- I did this and somehow manage to limit myself to only 2 biscuits. They are v dry on their own.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth Thu 24-Jan-13 10:44:07

DP likes them he's eaten half a box already shock

I quite like them too but they are very sweet

Also just received an outer with 8 boxes if red berries. Just about to try one with my coffee.

Molepom Thu 24-Jan-13 12:12:43

I've just taken delivery of my red berries box of biscuits.

Will write a review on Sunday after we've had them for a couple of days.

Have given a box to some workers chopping down some trees in exchange for the biscuits I have got loads of logs for my fire. And they all say that they are really tasty to have as a snack in their pocket as they work!
I've also tried them with the kids and we all like them despite them looking like they have been kicked around the warehouse!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 24-Jan-13 16:14:57

Sorry about the this guys - we will start the feedback thread next week

EauRouge Thu 24-Jan-13 16:59:45

You are sorry about sending me 192 biscuits? Really, don't be grin

Molepom Thu 24-Jan-13 17:07:21

Sorry about what?

Free biscuits? Don't be, I mean if you are really, really sorry you could send me another box. [greedy and hopeful]

Tee2072 Thu 24-Jan-13 17:56:37

Well I haven't tried them yet but DH and son aren't too impressed. And there's a lot of biscuits....

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 24-Jan-13 19:13:52

Sorry it's not 3 flavours...and glad no one is too grumpy about the misunderstanding grin.

Does everyone have red berries? If anyone has different I'd be happy to swap some? <hopeful emoticon>

FrillyMilly Thu 24-Jan-13 20:37:49

I was really looking forward to the oats and honey flavour too. I'm handing mine out to anyone who will take one. I do enjoy biscuits but its quite daunting having so many.

Indith Fri 25-Jan-13 13:11:05

Well ds1 likes them. He asked me this morning when i was going to send the message to the company to tell them that the biscuits are nice smile. That is rather a lot of biscuits for a small boy to get through!

I was looking forward to the other flavlours too, shame they managed to send me the ones I was least likely to like!

I saw someone eating some of these this morning & was dying to ask if she was a MNter but thought it would sound too weird if she wasn't grin

LargeLatte Fri 25-Jan-13 16:01:40

Thank goodness. I did a double take as the delivery driver drop off almost 200 biscuits. Then thought I'd better 'fess up. So glad I am not alone. DC love them. Will dish a few boxes out for people to try as I've got so many.

KindleMum Fri 25-Jan-13 16:59:26

Both the kids love them so far. I'm finding them too dry unless with a cup of tea though. Too dry to eat on the run IMO but the DS and DD will happily eat them without a drink.

Iggity Sat 26-Jan-13 21:50:50

Neighbour took mine in while at work. Cringing at what they must have thought. DH thinks it's great!

alibobins Sun 27-Jan-13 21:49:28

alibobins Sun 27-Jan-13 21:50:03

I received a huge box of red berry biscuits this morning and thought there had been some mistake. Plenty for the family to test, and I'll be taking some into work for my team to try, nurses sure know their biscuits. grin

They are half price at Waitrose did consider stocking up!
