NOW CLOSED Dyson testers needed to put the new Dyson Digital Slim through its paces – (DC44 RRP £280) - only the rushed off their feet this Christmas need apply…

(242 Posts)
AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 13:24:38

We've been asked by Dyson to find 15 MNers who are willing and able to try out the new Dyson Digital Slim - DC44.

Dyson say "The Dyson Digital Slim(tm) is one of Dyson's newest inventions and is a lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner, engineered for nimble, high performance spot cleaning. From cobwebs in corners to quick skirting boards and stairs, it is balanced for floor to ceiling cordless cleaning.

Dyson's DC44 is also perfect for quick clean ups - so you'll be ready for any surprise visitors this festive period"

More info here

We're looking for MNers to try this who:
~ are around between now and Christmas eve to receive the product (and ideally have a house-full of guests)
~ are at home over Christmas break to try it out (it's ideal for whizzing round under the tree)
~ willing to add feedback - at least twice - to a thread on Mumsnet over the festive season - we'll be looking for you to add your responses to some questions and also to add further thoughts
~ willing to add a review here
~ are in the UK

Dyson would also like to set MNers some challenges with their DC44 - these will be sent to the selected testers and you'll be asked to add your feedback on how you got on with the challenges.

We're also looking for the testers to send in some video footage of the DC44 being used around the home - and completing the challenges. If you're happy to make a film for Dyson please tick the box on the application form. If you're selected you'll be asked to film yourself, your children and any pets in your home using the DC44. This shouldn't be too onerous. You'll then need to send in your footage to MN. Please note the videos will then be edited into a montage and will feature on dyson.co.uk as well as on the Dyson YouTube channel and possibly elsewhere (eg Facebook, MN) - your name will not be used. You will be sent notes on filming.

If you'd like to take part please add your details here

Please note : if selected products will be sent out this week for delivery before Christmas - please only apply if you are around then for delivery and can also feedback. And for those not successful on becoming a tester, you will be emailed by MN details of a special Christmas treat from Dyson.

If you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the product.

Thanks MNHQ

PS if you don't get selected or aren't able to apply for this test, please keep an eye out for the feedback thread where you could win a Dyson product of your choice.

Ooooh please me! I despise my ancient Panasonic hoover, its heavy and hurts to carry round my tiny and dirty house. sad I have my whole family (Mum, 2 sisters and BIL) coming to stay for xmas and havn't even started tidying yet. And I'm a bit of a hoarder blush. Would love to try this!

Done.

<keeps everything crossed>

Done, looks fantastic!

Indith Tue 18-Dec-12 13:32:34

Oh wow that looks perfect for my house, we have solid fuel heating so the dining room with the stove in is always very dusty and I constantly have to do the skirting boards and picture rails and so on. Not to mention the floor to ceiling bookshelves in there. We are away over christmas though sad

Would dyson be happy wiht it being tested half in this house and half at my mum's with a house full of guests? [hopeful].

NinjaChipmunksGotBigBaubles Tue 18-Dec-12 13:34:54

oh this would be perfect. I have a new but old dusty house, a dd who has just started weaning and lots of people here over the festive season.....please pick me!

dottygamekeeper Tue 18-Dec-12 13:35:57

Have put my details down, hoping to get a chance to try this out to wage war on the dog hair, cobwebs, Christmas tree needles and dust from the open fire in our barn.

Trying to send my application but it won't seem to go through. Is it possible to check if it's been received?

Would love to do this one!

lunar1 Tue 18-Dec-12 13:45:00

Fingers crossed for this one, kind of excited to see what the challenges are, and really hoping that one is to throw crisps all over the floor, stamp on them then try to vac them up!

eteo Tue 18-Dec-12 13:45:17

finger cross!

lunar1 Tue 18-Dec-12 13:46:02

have you received my form, got a blank screen when i hit submit

indiegirl19 Tue 18-Dec-12 13:46:29

Survey done :-) I have a nightmare of a history with vacuum cleaners so fingers crossed I get a chance

choccyp1g Tue 18-Dec-12 13:47:10

I'd love to try it. I had a Dyson many years ago, and was not happy with it, (no loss of suction, because there was no suction in the first place) but would love to be proved wrong.

ABikeWithBellsOn Tue 18-Dec-12 13:47:51

Done - this could save my sanity over Christmas smile

dobby2001 Tue 18-Dec-12 13:48:22

Oooh I would love to test this! Have been intrigued by the advert and am looking to replace old and trusty, but starting to struggle big Dyson. I have a house full of preschoolers over the Christmas break as working aside from the Bank Holidays - and then I have family over so plenty of mess to clear up!

Also not sure if application went through - was redirected to mumsnet product review page after i clicked send - is that correct?

anteena Tue 18-Dec-12 13:49:36

i love my dyson dc25 and the advert for this really caught my eye, as its so light and easy to use. fingers crossed for this

milk Tue 18-Dec-12 13:54:33

*fingers and toes crossed*

Please pretty please pick me!!! grin

Me please (pretty please) We have a rather elderly dyson who really should retire but this Christmas as usual DD1 is bringing my grandson to spend the holidays with us, sadly that means that Harry has to come too!

Harry is a cocker spaniel who moults for England and makes hard work of the festive season. Please I'm beggingblush

KatzGold Tue 18-Dec-12 13:54:51

done - need a light weight vacuum so the DD's can be trained to clean up after their messy house rabbits!

oh yes, this would be fabulous grin we have so many cobwebs and tricky places to clean..

FridgeBenefits Tue 18-Dec-12 13:55:27

Done!
Please choose me, my house is such a pit of despair!

OohMrDarcy Tue 18-Dec-12 13:58:11

I'm in ... fingers crossed!

MsOnatopp Tue 18-Dec-12 13:58:40

Me! Me! I don't have a vaccum cleaner at all sad grin

TapirAroundTheChristmasTree Tue 18-Dec-12 13:59:42

Done! <crosses fingers, toes and everything else possible>

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:00:08

dobby2001 - yep it goes to 'our page'

LoonyRationalist Tue 18-Dec-12 14:01:56

Done - a product test I would virtually chew my right arm off to win!
I've been coveting a handheld dyson for over a year!

weenwee Tue 18-Dec-12 14:03:05

Done! We're hosting 12 people at ours for the holidays (not including the 3 of us who usually live here!), We need this! :D

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:04:18

mimsy and lunar - yep all ok

LoonyRationalist Tue 18-Dec-12 14:06:32

Incidentally as I have just been linked to the product test page would someone at HQ be able to correct the Infacol blurb from there to their?

<sorry I just can't contain my inner pedant - I tried!>

moogdroog Tue 18-Dec-12 14:07:22

Oh please please me! I have a new house still battling with builders dust, guests gallor over Christmas and am panicking about how I'm going to keep the place presentable.

Have been drooling covetously whenever the advert comes on the telly!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:08:10

loony - will alert KatieBMumsnet ASAP!

KatzGold Tue 18-Dec-12 14:10:41

AnnMumsnet - i think I may have done my favourite trick of mixing up my email address mine should end in .com - any chance you could double check? thank you

hk78 Tue 18-Dec-12 14:13:25

What happens to the Dyson when the testing is finished?

<hopeful> grin

hk78 Tue 18-Dec-12 14:13:59

scrap that last question, just seen the answer

Mograt Tue 18-Dec-12 14:14:49

Please pick me dear Mr Dyson
I'm already panicking about the tidying up that will be needed with a house full of guests, which includes two crawling babies, my very hairy golden labrador, children, toddlers, teenagers, grandmas and great aunts. We have a variety of floors, from original hard wood and persian rugs to limestone tiles and laminate!
We're here for the duration and will be hosting lots of lunches, suppers and general festivities near Kingston Surrey (not supplying my address here in case all you local MN'ers turn up for a glass or three..... grin
Currently using a rather ancient pull around Miele but would be very happy to move on.... Keeping my fingers crossed

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:16:37

LoonyRationalist - she said "on pants" - she is so restrained... thanks

WhatWouldGrandmaDo Tue 18-Dec-12 14:16:45

Me and our current vacuum are not on friendly terms right now due to it refusing to suck up either the cat's fur or my own hair (which seems to get everywhere). So some whizzy new technology to try would be lovely!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:17:55

KatzGold - did you apply using that mn name?

KatzGold Tue 18-Dec-12 14:19:40

no just katz i think - keep forgetting to change back!

Katz Tue 18-Dec-12 14:20:46

done it now!

EggNogKnockers Tue 18-Dec-12 14:21:26

Done but I put my non-festive MN name (VodkaKnockers) on the survey.

Belo Tue 18-Dec-12 14:21:30

I would love to try this! I've lusted after a Dyson hoover for a while. I somehow managed to fill in the form and omitted to put in my DDs ages. Can this be edited please? They're 7 and 10. Thank you!

DeltaUniformDeltaEcho Tue 18-Dec-12 14:22:28

<crosses everything - falls over - still keeps everything crossed>

I have a basics Argos one that needs pulling apart and unblocking/.cleaning every time it's used but there is no way I can afford to replace it at the moment.

Also, about the video questions - It asks if you'd mind taking videos involving yourself, your kids or you pets using the dyson......can people really train your pets to use a vacuum cleaner? Because my cat won't even sort the recycling properly let alone hoover!

shrimponastick Tue 18-Dec-12 14:24:05

I have applied too.

Will be interesting to see if it copes with fil's messy mince pie eating. He missed his mouth on each second bite. Hmm...

Oh, and son keeps combing his recently grown afro. There are mini pube like hairs ALL over the house.

No pets, the DC are messy enough!!! never managed to fork out for a Dyson yet, would be great to see if they are worth the money.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots Tue 18-Dec-12 14:24:13

I've completed this one too - hoping I'll be lucky this time!

shrimponastick Tue 18-Dec-12 14:24:57

delta ha ha .

Well, if you could train up your cat to do the vacuuming that would make for an excellent utube moment on its own smile

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:25:14

ha ha delta! I think we mean you using the Dyson cleaning up after the pet (mind you my dog does a pretty good job with the old sweetcorn herself)

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:25:33

AnnMumsnet I actually said "oh pants" grin

Thanks Loony, all corrected now thanks

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:26:44

Done Belo - but minus one point for mentioning the h word...

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:27:15

blush

EggNogKnockers Tue 18-Dec-12 14:28:59

Will I need to re-apply using my festive NC?

vincenta Tue 18-Dec-12 14:29:27

OH.Just seen video of Dyson Digital Slim...I'm speechless! IT looks awesome, like vacuum from my dreams, easy to use and powerful in cleaning smile
It is Christmas time and I will hope that this time I will be lucky to try this lovely Dyson vacuum(i have one lovely Dyson vacuum at home, but it is much heavier)
Miracles happen...I suppose....

Lifeisontheup Tue 18-Dec-12 14:30:44

Need this vacuum, please pick me,I have a hairy dog, 12 people plus extra dog for christmas, love the dyson I have but it's getting old like me. sad

mummygardyne Tue 18-Dec-12 14:31:56

not sure if my application has gone through, but with 4 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats and 3 gerbils, this would be a very worthwhile addition to the house grin

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 18-Dec-12 14:33:50

EggNogKnockers - no tis fine

Kippersbigfeet Tue 18-Dec-12 14:33:58

Done. Have a GSD that is shedding tonnes of hair at the moment. Lots of plaster dust from replastering walls and ceilings, dog hair, a new baby that screams at the sound of the current one. Oh and did I mention dog hair!!!!

shaztwins1 Tue 18-Dec-12 14:35:51

fingers crossed here too grin
hope i get this one it will cheer me up no end, hubs is leaving new years day for a 10 month deployment so any help training the kids to use this with cleaning up over xmas will be a bonus wink

BitofSparklingPerry Tue 18-Dec-12 14:37:09

Filled out - if it can be used by an elderly lady, a student, 6 other adults, 2 small children and a cat I will be seriously impressed! Can blog on The Camels Hump, which gets a respectable amount of views, can video and can definitely get good use from it...

(Although I did put BrittaPerry rather than my christmas name - is that ok?)

applegate Tue 18-Dec-12 14:43:56

Oh me please, 3 messy children, a wild spaniel puppy, and a houseful of guests over christmas in deepest muddiest dorset..............
Please please please

lubeybooby Tue 18-Dec-12 14:47:09

Oooh I have applied. Looks just the job for my house. Everything crossed grin

Housemum Tue 18-Dec-12 14:49:44

DOes the screen just go back to the MN log in? Could someone please check that you have an application from me? No pets but 2 long haired girls that shed like Labradors.....

Themobstersknife Tue 18-Dec-12 14:50:18

Me! Have a baby just crawling and with a very good pincer grip! Dog biscuits, sequins, feathers, its all going in the mouth and old cordless has packed in!

LoonyRationalist Tue 18-Dec-12 14:53:50

Ann & Katie thanks smile

scripsi Tue 18-Dec-12 14:56:39

Have completed survey, our vacuum is conspiring against me hmm

Ooh, pick me! Would be perfect for our 3 storey house with 3 kids including a newborn. I've not been able to do the hallway since he was born sad

Done form! Anything that can suck p all the dog hair and reach the cobwebs would receive a lot of use in this house

TheToadLessTravelled Tue 18-Dec-12 15:11:07

Pick me pick me!!

Oatcake loving toddler = constant cleaning up of little bits of biscuit etc off the floor or off my socks! Not worth getting the big vac out for but drives me nuts

BlatherskitedaboutChristmas Tue 18-Dec-12 15:11:43

I need one of these. I have no room to store anything and would love something more lightweight. I've always had Dysons but hate our current one so much I'd never buy another in case it was as bad - I'd love to be convinced that they're better now - I did my degree in Industrial Design at just the time that the first Dysons became popular and we all hero worshipped James Dyson.

Fingers crossed, we were eyeing hem up in sainsburys the other day

Bobolbach Tue 18-Dec-12 15:21:44

DOne here. WIll be keeping fingers firmly crossed for this one.
I could sob with the amount of cleaning and tyding up I have to do before Christmas.

If you're selected you'll be asked to film yourself, your children and any pets in your home using the DC44"

Made me giggle, read it as being asked to film your pets using the dc44. The dogs a dab hand at the hoovering.
[childish]

I've applied.. Wonder if it can cope with the hair from 3 dogs and 3 cats?!

waitingforgodot Tue 18-Dec-12 15:42:38

done. Hope I get picked so I can star in my own video!

Fillybuster Tue 18-Dec-12 15:52:00

oooh....!

<squeals>

BabylonElf Tue 18-Dec-12 15:54:53

Done!!

Fingers, legs, toes, ears and eyes firmly crossed and will remain so until further notice.

I don't just want this, I NEED it!!!! grin

It would mean me being able to spend some of the festive period with my DH and DCs instead of being stuck behind a Hoover that couldn't suck the skin off a rice pudding in its current state :-s

MariahScarey Tue 18-Dec-12 15:58:30

lol at you lot all SMARMING on here trying to validate your existence! ;)

ClaimedByMe Tue 18-Dec-12 16:04:26

Done, everything crossed here, I meant to say on my reasons that I can provide proof that I am getting a new stair carpet laid tomorow!

Good luck everyone!

thewashfairy Tue 18-Dec-12 16:17:52

I would definitely give it a run for its money. My family is coming over from Holland (2 adults and 2 teens), there's the 4 of us and my in laws. Most of them will be staying here for 5 days. We also have a greyhound and are looking after SIL's lovely but hair shedding boxer for the duration. Our house is usually used as a guesthouse combined with private home so lots of emergency quick tidy ups to do all the time. My current Henri is a lovely, strong work horse but really heavy to move between 4 floors all the time.
Sounds like this Dyson could be the answer to my prayers as I have been looking for a hand-held vacuum cleaner for a long time but have so far always been disappointed as they are never up to the job.
Go on....... let me have a go!! grin

becstar77 Tue 18-Dec-12 16:18:16

I would LOVE to test this! Our huge DC14 is on it's last legs, having been abused by builders, and we have the compact Dyson Animal, but it's obviously not enough to keep our house clean over Xmas! I was looking at the Slim but not convinced it was heavy duty enough for our household.

bubbaloo Tue 18-Dec-12 16:34:30

Survey completed smile
Would LOVE to try this out.
We still have the original DC01 shock

loubielou31 Tue 18-Dec-12 16:42:06

I can think of so many more than three reasons why I would love to try this.

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 18-Dec-12 16:47:46

Oh my goodness, I would LOVE to try this! I have lusted after it in John Lewis.
Survey duly filled in, and I keep everything crossed.
If I'm not successful I'll scour the feedback thread anyway to see what others think.

Pinkbear Tue 18-Dec-12 16:50:54

Applied but took me to a log in page ? Is that right would loooove this when's it being decided who tests?

CurleysMum Tue 18-Dec-12 16:57:55

I really hope this is better than their Animal one. I have just one cat (short haired & outdoors most of the time) & the damned thing (hoover, not cat) doesn't do half as well as my old Phillips pull along one. I have cleaned it, washed all the washable bits & even hoovered it backwards to no avail!

ArtexTheHallWithBoughsOfMonkey Tue 18-Dec-12 17:01:07

I have applied, I love my Dyson all floors and it is fairly small and nippy but our house is tiny and chockful o STUFF and so even that can feel cumbersome.

WildThongonthesparklytree Tue 18-Dec-12 17:03:29

I'm in! My poor old Dyson is on its last legs

alemci Tue 18-Dec-12 17:08:58

wow excited about this. would love to try it out.

kiwigirl42 Tue 18-Dec-12 17:11:48

interested to see if it is better than our wonderful Miele Cat and Dog which copes with Labrador, 2 Ragdoll cats and moggie.

Done.
It's so skinny and looks so light, I have to take my bloody enormous vax to bits and carry it separately to be able to Hoover upstairs because its so heavy.
Fingers crossed smile

busymummy3 Tue 18-Dec-12 17:26:44

I have applied but it took me back to log in page when I pressed send button- will my survey have been sent as I did not get an acknowlegement?
I have tried to do it again hust in case and now I just keep being sent back to this page every time I click the link to complete the survey ???

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast Tue 18-Dec-12 17:26:44

everything is crossed!! :D

silverfrog Tue 18-Dec-12 17:36:34

Done, but I managed to omit half the household.

Over the Christmas period, we will be 3 children (as stated) but 5 adults - I think I put 2 blush.

Sorry for the mix up!

bluebump Tue 18-Dec-12 17:51:11

Ooh yes i've applied for this one. I have a messy child, house guinea pigs and currently TWO broken Dysons! I will also have a house full of people all over Christmas and my house is tiny so it looks ideal to be able to whip it out and do a quick clean up around people! <fingers crossed>

bluebump Tue 18-Dec-12 17:58:51

I just thought actually, I changed my mind at the last minute and put that I would do a video (well my 4 year old wants to do one and I figured that might help my chances if I put yes to that question blush) but then I forgot to go back and answer the question on how i'd film it (there was a question on that wasn't there?) I'd use my phone or camera, whatever is easiest...

SweetMingePie Tue 18-Dec-12 18:11:01

Pick me please!i have such an old swan Hoover, takes ages to clean up sad

SantaJaxx Tue 18-Dec-12 18:27:53

Done, fingers crossed, (and toes, and arms and legs). grin

christmasmum Tue 18-Dec-12 18:33:07

Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top....grin

MrsWolowitz Tue 18-Dec-12 18:50:10

Done!

Oooooh it looks lovely!

CrushedWithIcicles Tue 18-Dec-12 18:55:15

Done, when will we know??

Dyson have a lot of faith in British postal system if the vacuums are going to get where there going by Monday!

CrushedWithIcicles Tue 18-Dec-12 18:58:24

Gaah!!! I've only put 2 adults, as that is what is usually on my family. On Christmas Day I've got DM, DF, DSis, DBil and another DBil so will have 7 adults and 3 children....please tell me I haven't fucked up my (slim) chance?

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus Tue 18-Dec-12 19:04:39

Were we meant to put in the adults who will be in the house on Xmas day? I only put the 4 adults that live here all the time, there will be more than that on Xmas day. confused

schilke Tue 18-Dec-12 19:17:24

I only put the number of people normally in my house too.

MaryChalloner Tue 18-Dec-12 19:21:25

oh pick me please! I will have 10 children, and 7 adults over christmas. In my small house. there'll certainly be an opportunity to test all sorts of mess! and maybe satisfy my OCD mother!

DameFannyGallopsBEHINDyou Tue 18-Dec-12 19:23:24

Done. I neeed one - DH rearranged his scapula playing football, I've got permanent joint ishoos and the cleaner doesn't do school holidays.

It's going to be a tinselly hell by January...

[tiny violin]

stigofthelump Tue 18-Dec-12 19:26:33

Please pick me pick me, my ancient electrolux is held together with velcro and barely works. All done - but I only put the number of people who live here not christmas visitors

MulledPinot Tue 18-Dec-12 19:27:45

Done.

Please?

Wearegoingtobedlehem Tue 18-Dec-12 19:40:26

Ooooh, I would love the chance, survey done smile

This product looks fab and light for me - I have an old shoulder injury and anything lighter, easier and effective is a great boon in this household.
I have two girls under 3 in the house, a dog, guinea pigs, chinchilla, and we are on a working farm - there would be more than enough mess to give it a good test!
Have a house full of family visitors over the christmas period as usual, plenty of entertaining and cleaning!

Done, is it really sad that I'm more excited about this than I am about Christmas?

raininginbaltimore Tue 18-Dec-12 20:05:08

Done. We have my parents visiting and my mother always comments on my house, because of "the cats"

I need some light and nippy as no time with dcs, we love our old dyson but want a new one soon

LaVitaBellissima Tue 18-Dec-12 20:06:18

Fingers and toes crossed for this one, DP a long time ago that when our ancient Samsung IRS we can get a Dyson. 8 years on and numerous efforts at trying to kill the Samsung have failed. I would love this!

MouseyHousey Tue 18-Dec-12 20:20:19

When do you find out if you've been selected?

Tistheseasontobedramatic Tue 18-Dec-12 20:21:21

Done!

snowwombat Tue 18-Dec-12 20:55:15

Done. This would be so timely, the vacuum cleaner died last night and two small children in an old house are a mess making machine.

TigerChristmasiscostingmeaBomb Tue 18-Dec-12 21:14:44

my pickmepickme box is rather lame - Ive got no chance at getting this sad

Puppypoppet Tue 18-Dec-12 21:30:01

Pick me please!!!! (makes cute puppy dog face!!).

I'd love to know if this works on pet hair. Nothing has ever worked on my dogs hair hmm

BadRoly Tue 18-Dec-12 21:51:20

waves I had visions of the cat using it too...

I may also have cocked up on the number of people - there will be just the 6 of us Christmas Day but we are having a party on Christmas Eve...

Would adore this - we have been in the market recently and Dyson is the only brand DH will look at as they are so reliable and such good quality!

A baby starting to crawl and putting everything in her mouth is making vacuuming a daily necessity - something light quick and easy to use would be absolutely perfect!

Entered! Wish me luck :D

Pick MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Housemum Tue 18-Dec-12 22:07:46

I'm sure it asked how many were in your household? If not I've cocked up too - normally 3 adults 2 kids, Christmas will be 9 adults 3 kids on the day itself, and between Christmas and New Year likely to be more kids round

SantaFlashesHisBoobsALot Tue 18-Dec-12 22:10:26

Oh dear I put down the number of adults normally in the house too. Bums sad

MouseyHousey Tue 18-Dec-12 22:21:22

Ive put amount of people usually in the house too.. is there anyway to get that changed? Im hosting 10adults 2 children and 2 dogs for christmas smile

Lesbeadiva Tue 18-Dec-12 22:24:06

Were you meant to put in the amount of people you will have over Christmas??? I am not sure i did....it's 15 btw...oh yes...15. All together for Christmas Eve, sleeping and opening gifts on Christmas Day. Normally only 4 of us though...so think I have buggered up the questionnaire too!

Housemum Tue 18-Dec-12 22:26:22

It does just ask how many in your household.

imdreamingofaskyebluechristmas Tue 18-Dec-12 22:31:56

just applied, fingers crossed!

lorka Wed 19-Dec-12 00:05:50

I would love one. Please always rushed off my feet!!! x

Evenstar Wed 19-Dec-12 01:01:28

If I could have given a fourth reason, I would have mentioned the fact that my house has a second floor and we have 2 long runs of stairs which are a nightmare with a normal hoover as they are steep with narrow treads! I do hope I get one, my old Dyson has really had its day sad

No menagerie (just s labradoodle or 2, they said they didn't shed FFS) or falling down house here I'm afraid just lots of cream stairs which I have ended up using a dustpan and brush for due to my big dyson being heavy and my little dyson lasting 6 (yes 6) minutes, even DH lasts longer than that! wink

Florin Wed 19-Dec-12 06:19:44

I would love to take part in this. We are around all over Christmas. I seem to have to Hoover all the time as I have a cat plus a baby who is nearly crawling so in the floor all the time (oh and a messy husband!). I have a mixture of both hard floors and carpet so would be good to find a Hoover which works well on both. At the moment I have a heavy Henry which doesn't seem to get up a lot of the muck properly and I worry what my baby is crawling around in. Would love to get the house looking lovely for our babies first Christmas!

peanutMD Wed 19-Dec-12 07:32:40

Have given it a shot but I never get picked sad

I would love to try one of these as my old heavy vaccum is burning out and can't afford to replace right now and we certainly don't have Dyson money.

Also 7 months PG and struggling with SPD so this would bee ideal smile

We will have 4 adults, 2 teens, 3 6yo's and a dog for Christmas so a Hoover would he handy lol

Can I just point out those rushed off their feet should get the hell off Mumsnet and get on with the stuff they need to do grin

renaldo Wed 19-Dec-12 07:55:17

Me please! My new puppy is driving me insane with mess

gazzalw Wed 19-Dec-12 09:01:53

Yes, our current Dyson is on its last legs but can't really afford to replace it at the moment so this would be a very practical but much appreciated Christmas pressie ;-)!

gazzalw Wed 19-Dec-12 09:25:06

Of course the main reason for doing this surely is that Father Christmas will have made such a sooty mess coming down the chimney and leaving mince-pie crumbs all around the fireplace that someone will need to do a quick whizz round with the Dyson on Christmas morning just to return the house to its usual pristine (or not) state grin....

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyou Wed 19-Dec-12 09:31:46

Don't forget the mess the reindeer make with their glittery oats...
smile

baahhumbug Wed 19-Dec-12 09:32:15

I've filled in the form and answered the questions.

I'll be around between now and Christmas eve to receive the product - I'm in all day. I'm also at home over Christmas break to try it out and willing to add feedback at least twice to the thread on Mumsnet over the festive season.

I'm also happy to add a review here and make a video of us using the Dyson.

We have hard floors, carpets and stairs to vacuum clean and also need something to clean up cobwebs and lampshades.

Have my fingers firmly crossed!

nikkianddemz Wed 19-Dec-12 09:32:19

Me pleeeeeasaaassssseeeee would be perfecto xwink

Could MNHQ change my no tick to video to a yes. Just realised I can record on my phone and Samsung tab <<sleep deprived>>

SweetMingePie Wed 19-Dec-12 10:52:57

Were we meant to say how many adults and children will be here over festive season as I've only said how many live here?

I currently use an Argos own brand. Take pity on me!

iMe Wed 19-Dec-12 11:18:10

missmuddle Wed 19-Dec-12 14:28:53

I didn't say how many adults - 4 adults and 3 children plus other visiters friends etc...

SarahStratton Wed 19-Dec-12 15:01:19

When do we find out who's getting them? Not that I'm desperately overwhelmed by the detritus of 2 ridiculously messy teenagers, and their assorted animals much' I just need to know if I'm going to have to book a slot at The Priory after Christmas.

Plus the ferret appears to be prepping for Friday' s End of The World event, I just found a stash of onions in the tea towel basket. hmm

exiledmancityfan Wed 19-Dec-12 15:03:43

Desperately waiting for my email as well. grin

Leafmould Wed 19-Dec-12 15:45:04

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 19-Dec-12 16:19:00

hello - emails just gone out now to the lucky 15.

Sorry if you weren't selected...as we thought it would be this was a very popular one....do look out for the feedback thread over Christmas - there will be a prize on offer from Dyson to adding a comment.

Ah well I won the school raffle so I'm happy with my lot in life without a Dyson stick vacuum however if they do decide to do a special offer for us lot, I want to buy one for my elderly mother in law because she can't hoof a normal vac around anymore. smile

Congrats lucky 15! smile

Looks like I'm out then hmm

OMG I've been selected grin

<does happy dance round Xmas tree>

SuzysZoo Wed 19-Dec-12 16:32:12

What happens to the dyson once we have tested it?

SarahStratton Wed 19-Dec-12 18:33:54

You pass it on to the next Mumsnetter on the list. In your case, that's me. grin

baahhumbug Fri 21-Dec-12 17:42:57

Mine was CityLink too.

I'm going to try it on my car tomorrow! It badly needs it ...

FrillyMilly Fri 21-Dec-12 18:10:17

Mine was a courier too. He said merry christmas as he arrived at my doorstep with the dyson in hand. I've been using it already although I need to give the house a good tidy before I do some filming. I'm quite nervous about the filming

peanutMD Fri 21-Dec-12 19:12:12

Ooh have just received a package from Citylink...

Given that I found the email in my junk box you can imagine this was a slight surprise grin

<forgetful pregnant lady emoticon>

Themobstersknife Fri 21-Dec-12 22:46:40

I really need a life!

noisytoys Sat 22-Dec-12 09:49:06

It's worth the wait I've just screwed the docking station to the wall and now I'm admiring it. Hope yours comes soon smile

iMe Sat 22-Dec-12 10:45:43

So any other poor unfortunates like me who didn't get picked....are you going to use the 20% off code to buy one? I am seriously considering it but don't know if I'm crazy. My old panasonic blew up about 2 wks ago and inlaws donated us a huge old heavy awkward thing of theirs, which I appreciate, but it is making my hip problems worse. I've just used it on the living area of the house and now I'm having to lie flat out on the sofa to recover. I had bad spd in both pregnancies and it has not gone away 14 months latersad. Any of you lucky fishes to get picked have spd/ back problems and can comment?? I got some Christmas money I could use to buy it but don't know if it'd be extravagant...but if it made my life less painful.....oh I don't know....help me decide please!!

SantaFlashesHisBoobsALot Sat 22-Dec-12 11:12:27

Oh my gosh I am in love. Because of using a walking stick I have always struggled to vacuum, have always found it difficult and painful. I have just vacuumed half of the house with ease for the first time ever. Light weight, easy to steer, a doddle to empty... I am nearly crying with happiness as recently my pain has been so bad I have had to ask other people to vacuum the house for me.

So so chuffed.

alemci Sat 22-Dec-12 11:44:39

mine still hasn't got here. Should I be worried. someone has been in and no card through door. Royal mail have delivered.

DeltaUniformDeltaEcho Sat 22-Dec-12 14:05:09

alemci - mine isn't here either. I think I am a bit worried though as BoobsALot and I are in the same city and she already has hers!

I'm putting off the cleaning until it gets here! I'm being forced to sit and watch movies with my boy....gah it's a hard life!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 22-Dec-12 14:19:52

delta and alemci - am sure they're on their way...have emailed Dyson but think my contacts are now on hols...let me know when they arrive.

alemci Sat 22-Dec-12 15:41:50

thanks but it is a worry when others already have theirs. I'm in Greater London, Delta - if that helps.

DeltaUniformDeltaEcho Sat 22-Dec-12 16:38:12

Thanks Ann.

I'm SE alemci. But Boobs is 10 minutes from me and she has hers. I've been in all day too.

I'll try not to worry yet. Just typical really - I was all excited smile

alemci Sat 22-Dec-12 17:01:56

my worry is that it has gone to the wrong house or they have left it on the doorstep but I think you are probably right Delta. I was excited too and dying for a new toy to test out.

SuzysZoo Sat 22-Dec-12 19:33:15

I don't have mine yet either - South East. Hope it comes before Christmas!

DeltaUniformDeltaEcho Sun 23-Dec-12 10:35:35

Yay! Mine just got here - Very easy to put together and I just did the kitchen floor in 2 minutes - lovely and quick and smooth to use smile

Hope you guys get yours soon!

alemci Sun 23-Dec-12 12:47:14

mine has come too. this morning. exciting

Griselda Sun 23-Dec-12 20:46:36

I have been using one of these for the last year... I am still in love....

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyou Sun 23-Dec-12 23:00:07

I'm seriously considering using the 20% off in the new year as my hoover is rubbish for dog hair. Testers with black dogs and cream carpets (I can't be the only person that daft), I look forward to your feedback.

SuzysZoo Sun 23-Dec-12 23:54:02

Hooray - mine has come. It has two motorised heads but there does not seem to be any indication of what I use for what - anyone know? It's great so far and I love it - it's making me much less stressed around mess knowing it will only take seconds to clear up!

Mindingalongtime Mon 24-Dec-12 05:01:02

You can get it on the net from a few places for around 20% less than the RRP on Dysons site and with the free tool pack too anyway so you don't need the special code. I have been looking for something like this so awaiting feedback with interest.

noisytoys Mon 24-Dec-12 07:35:18

I added feedback last night. It is brilliant. I have used it on loads of surfaces and it is fab. It shows up how dirty my life was with the old Hoover. I hoovered the 'clean' carpet with the dyson and it filled the cylinder with dust and dirt blushgrin

peanutMD Mon 24-Dec-12 08:42:10

Agree its fab!

Although was a little miffed at the wall mounting unit which was supplied with no fixings hmm, easily sorted though so no biggie.

My hand also hurt at first having to keep the trigger pressed in all the time but I think I've gotten used to it noe.

DP is also v.much impressed as it took him about 4 minutes to vacuum the stairs using it as a hand held with the brush attachment grin

Noisy - did you up load your video feedback already or did you type it up somewhere? I haven't even started challenges yet, must get a move on!!

FrillyMilly Mon 24-Dec-12 09:19:59

It would be good if the instruction manual had some words in it! I've posted a review but I've not done any filming yet. I'm ill and I look really rough at the moment.

noisytoys Mon 24-Dec-12 09:48:32

I've just typed it on the link for feedback will do the video over Christmas.

I got used to the press and hold but but I thought it was broken at first I've never had to hold down the on button before smile still love it. So much so I have given away my beloved Henry

alemci Mon 24-Dec-12 10:12:47

I like mine too. I agree about the instructions - could have more writing and what to use each attachment for.

also I would have preferred an on off button as you had to keep hand on trigger but excellent product.

have only done one part of the film. I assume you can stop and start as they will edit it anyway.

do you just do the film and post a review on mumsnet?

noisytoys Mon 24-Dec-12 10:30:48

And post at least twice on a thread but I can't see the thread. Unless its this thread then I have posted. If its not this thread then I will post when there is a thread to post on smile

I presume there will be a feedback thread at some point. Planning on leaving a review but might wait until after Xmas day.

Had a quick run round with it this morning and found it fab for the bedroom as it's cordless (not many sockets so it's a pita to do the far side of it from the plug on the landing). Also found the stairs much easier and loving the ball for the bathroom as it got round all the little awkward bits.

I did think there should be better info about what each attachment is.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 24-Dec-12 21:03:35

Hi...there will be a proper feedback thread..will do it soonish wink
