Thanks OHelenMNJust marking my spot for the first wash of dirty footy kits tomorrow. smile

BerryLellow Fri 30-Nov-12 17:45:33

Marking place, first wash is ON!

AitchDee Fri 30-Nov-12 17:45:53

My bottle arrived this morning.

I'm impressed with how compact it is. A i right that there are up to 25 washes in that tiny bottle? I love the idea of the squirty pump.

Will be giving it its first test later this evening.

MissEleanorLavish Fri 30-Nov-12 17:48:21

Marking my place too. First load just in the dryer so will report back!

mummysmellsofsick Fri 30-Nov-12 17:48:37

First wash is on will be back later!

upinthehills Fri 30-Nov-12 17:49:29

Mine arrived today but not used it yet. Just wanted it noted that i really hope there is a refill pouch for it. It is a very sturdy bottle and it would completely defeat the purpose of being so concentrated if you threw it in the bin/ recycling everytime. Would stop be actually buying it if there was no refill option.

blondieminx Fri 30-Nov-12 17:49:38

Marking my place, not received product yet though!

insanityscratching Fri 30-Nov-12 17:50:25

First wash is on, first impressions is that I like the dinky size bottle for 25 washes (about my weekly load) particularly because space is at a premium in our kitchen. I find the smell neat quite strong and chemically so will be interested to see how the clothes smell when they come out but will report back later.

BoomBoomBoom Fri 30-Nov-12 17:50:33

First wash is on. It is just drying (Got a washer dryer) then I will be back later smile .

Got mine and second load on.
Schoolyard french came in handy to read instructions on the bottle.

SecretCervix Fri 30-Nov-12 17:52:34

Also marking place, did have a red card on my mat this morning (postman didn't knock I am positive as baby monitor was still on and dd's door open but I digress) so that could have been it but am expecting something else. Will find out Monday.

shrimponastick Fri 30-Nov-12 17:53:14

Mine arrived today.

Will be testing later.

Just putting my wash on now. Was a nice surprise to find a package waiting when I got home from work. Smells nice. Hopefully will wash well too. Will report back soon.

First impressions good. Washed a load with it today. Clothes came out smelling fresh, and felt softer than usual. Clothes in dryer now, will add more tomorrow.

foxy6 Fri 30-Nov-12 17:59:13

got mine today done 1 load and am on the second one. english instructions on the bottle would be useful though, but i managed to figure it out, it's not that complicated

PoppyAmex Fri 30-Nov-12 18:00:14

Mine arrived this morning too. Just marking place, curious to see if it's a match for weaning poo grin

choccyp1g Fri 30-Nov-12 18:01:07

Lucky I can read a bit of French, because there are no English instructions on mine! But will give it a go, and will also try it with 2 squeezes, given that all the other washing products work just fine with half the amount.
[slopes off to snip open Persil liquid capsules, and save half in the cap]

maloofysmum Fri 30-Nov-12 18:09:06

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I received mine yesterday so have done 3 loads already! Loved it, I use Method cleaning products as they are kind to my skin especially at this time of the year so have eyed this up a few times in the supermarket. The packaging is great a funky bottle and is ergonomic to use. I worked out the instructions despite being in French! It's not overly fragranced and looked like hardly anything in the soap compartment. The washing came out nice and clean even the whites (school shirts!) the soap drawer was spotless no nasty residue. Would easily compare with other brands I've used.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Be nice in a bigger bottle, and possibly a bit cheaper as the price did put me off slightly as other brands seem to be on offer more regularly.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance just right. If I need a longer lasting smell i'll use fabric softener. The cleaning power was spot on and worked well on the school shirts!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend definitely, as its so simple to use great for the environment, cleans really well and is kind to my skin (no reactions so far). Cost as I said would be mentioned but really liked the product thanks for letting me test it! Will buy again.

aftereight Fri 30-Nov-12 18:11:06

Arrived today, and I will be tesrung it on school uniform tomorrow.

Lobelia Fri 30-Nov-12 18:22:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Loved how small the pump was, and it made it easier for my 3 year old to help with putting the liquid into the machine. He usually tries to help with the big ol' bottle and dumps half of it in. Love that half the liquid isn't wasted in the measuring cap. The design is a revelation.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
As with most things in the Method range, they can be a bit pricey. This would be what would keep me from buying it as compared to the store ECO brand I normally buy.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Fragrance was really nice and not too strong once the clothes were dry. Very pleasant. Cleaned fine, even my sometimes smelly dishcloths. Not sure about stain-power as we had nothing overly dirty.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I use method cleaning products exclusively in my home...however the price would have to come down in order to think that this was worth replacing my normal eco brand and therefore probably not, due to the cost. With the rest of your line, for me there is no equivalent that cleans as well, smells as good, and is plant based. But with laundry liquid there are products that can equal Method and are more competitively priced. That being said, thanks so much for letting me be a part of the test. I do indeed love Method products!

gremlinmum Fri 30-Nov-12 18:24:53

Mine arrived today!!! Will be trying it out tomorrow!! smile

preety18 Fri 30-Nov-12 18:37:51

Received mine today will be trying it tonight smile

derekthehamster Fri 30-Nov-12 18:42:19

Q1. Loved the design, nice and small.

Q2. I'd change the price!! having recently converted to aldi washing powder which is a third of the price, I couldn't justify buying it at full price (although I'd buy it whenever it was on offer if it was on par with persil for example)

Q3. Fragrance was lovely, I will comment more when I've used it a few times, as washing fragrance is always more noticeable the first few times you use it. Coped well on a quick 30 degree wash, with my husbands stinky shirts. (better than other brands).

Q4. Yes I'd recommend method for it's cleaning performance.

3rdnparty Fri 30-Nov-12 18:46:47

received mine- like the little bottle, I have a pile of washing this weekend so will be giving it a good try

CharlotteBronteSaurus Fri 30-Nov-12 19:02:12

just got ours today - thank you very much - and marking the thread for later.

Haberdashery Fri 30-Nov-12 19:10:28

Oh god, the fragrance is horrible. I will add proper feedback later but this smell is everything I dislike about detergent/softener smells and compares very unfavourably to Ecover which is what I normally use.

Got mine today will pop back soon as first wash is on smile

carovioletfizz Fri 30-Nov-12 19:11:52

Mine arrived today...

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I really liked it. I liked that it is environmentally friendly. Love the pump bottle as you end up only using exactly what you need and there's no wastage. It did the job of cleaning a load of quite dirty clothes really well.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The instructions on the pump were in French. I don't know if this was just for the tester packs?
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance was good, the clothes just smelt clean rather than highly perfumed. I tested it on a fairly dirty load including some of my toddler's soiled clothes and it got them really clean.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend it, I'd say it was good for the environment, effective and the bottle is very cute!

JustFabulous Fri 30-Nov-12 19:14:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Seemed very small but at least it doesn't take up room like my box of capsules does.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The smell.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I didn't like the fragrance. Haven't inspected the clothes yet as washed them but been ill.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Might mention to my MIL I have tried a new detergent and it is really quick and easy to use, but other than that I probably won't talk about it with anyone. Not a topic I discuss with the mums at school!

Arrived today , have already done a spectacular 3 loads !
Love the small bottle , and the squirty pump , will compare and contrast in a couple of days .
Thanks very much

Mine arrived today. Am way too excited about doing the washing now!

Whyriskit Fri 30-Nov-12 19:24:26

Liked the bottle, short of space in kitchen! Didn't mind the smell. Washing is currently drying so will comment more once dried, ironed and worn!

Wash is on smile, google translate helped me with the directions!

MsElleTow Fri 30-Nov-12 19:33:13

Marking my place.

Done one load so far. I used 7squirts in my 11kg machine and I was impressed that it got tomato sauce completely out of the table cloth. I'll leave more feed back when I've done more loads, including Rugby kit!

PoppyAmex Fri 30-Nov-12 19:33:55

I got an email from Helen, I assume we all did but maybe didn't check it so here it is for people who are about to use it:

Hi all,

Most of you should have received your samples by now. If you haven't yet, don't panic! It should be with you by Monday.

If you've received yours already, you'll notice that the usage instructions are in French! Method asked me to pass on their apologies for this mix up - they will be sending you a little something in the post to say sorry! I've copied the English translation below so please use this when you're trying the product out!

I'll be in touch again soon with the feedback thread link.

Thanks
Helen

Blah, cross post

All set to try it out tomorrow - are people squirting it in the drawer or the drum? If in the drawer does it go where the powder would go? <clueless>

paneer Fri 30-Nov-12 19:36:22

yes, goes where you would put your usual detergent

lubeybooby Fri 30-Nov-12 19:36:52

Mine arrived today, will start testing tomorrow smile

Haberdashery Fri 30-Nov-12 19:39:40

You know, I'm particularly shocked by the smell because most other Method things smell lovely. I use the wood polish when I don't really need to just because it smells so gorgeous.

paneer Fri 30-Nov-12 19:43:07

First wash complete! So far....

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the compactness and little packaging. (Not impressed they sent out French labels). Like the pump part.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
At the moment not.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love the smell, not overpowering or flowerly. Subtle and clean-linen-smelling.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
At the moment yes... I washed sheets and DD's school shirts and they smelt and looked clean. Smells nice and subtle. Packing brilliant. Very easy to dispense and clean. Small bottle as well. (Maybe when I finish we can use the bottle for something else?)

ThePathanKhansWitch Fri 30-Nov-12 19:43:20

Q1) I loved the bottle, the pump means no waste. Great size.
Q2) Sorry but a bit more cleaning power.
Q3) I loved the smell, didn,t. find it overpowering. My first wash was kids clothes, mud and chocolate (bad stains, i know).I would usually pre treat, i didn,t and stains were still there. I think in "normal" stains it would be fine.
Q4) I wouldn,t recommend just because i didn,t find it hit the spot with stains.I will use it to do my underwear, i love the smell.

paneer Fri 30-Nov-12 19:43:41

habs do you not like the smell??

Sparklingbrook Fri 30-Nov-12 19:44:56

I think when I review I will need to know how much it costs.

AnnaLiza Fri 30-Nov-12 19:45:26

Arrived today and first wash seems to have come out very well. I tried it on my usual Eco wash on my Samsung washing machine. I'll carry on testing it at different temperatures and on dirtier clothes and write a full review in a few days' time. So far my only criticism is the bottle could be a hazard to toddlers because it doesn't have a child cap on it.

EwanHoozami Fri 30-Nov-12 19:46:19

Bonjour wink

mine arrived today so marking spot

paneer Fri 30-Nov-12 19:48:08
Sparklingbrook Fri 30-Nov-12 19:50:23

Thanks paneer. Mmmm. £6 for 25 washes then.

Sleepyfergus Fri 30-Nov-12 19:54:00

Marking place. Still awaiting delivery.

first wash is on grin i'm excited (saddo)

Belles71 Fri 30-Nov-12 20:03:45

Just done my first wash and despite being a little sceptical as I squirted 5 squirts into the drum of my machine (we live in London - hard water) it is surprisingly effective! I have yet to hang it to dry so will report back. First impression good. PS washing contains 3, 6 and 8 year old clothes.

Belles71 Fri 30-Nov-12 20:04:37

PS Loving the squirt dispenser. Very good for when you are in a hurry (basically always)..

Vixjax Fri 30-Nov-12 20:09:14

just received mine, lots of washing to do tomorrow so will try it out. Bit thrown by the instructions being in French but reading through the thread it would appear there was an email translation, I didn't get one but can see the instructions posted below!

headfairy Fri 30-Nov-12 20:09:20

Still not got mine, but marking my place.

ohmeohmy Fri 30-Nov-12 20:25:53

1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I do like the small bottle and pump action.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? refill would be good. Seems to give my son a contact rash so would have to keep using other brand for kids washing
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Done 2 washes that have come up clean. I actually quite like the fragrance and I speak as someone who hates perfumed things. If the scent is just added chemicals for frangrance then can live without it. Dont care if my wash smells of something aslong as it isnt smelling of BO
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? dont usually bother talking about washing liquid. Too many important issues to discuss. IF they asked I might say it was alright and seemed to do the job. I do like your grapefruit cleaner though!

Obstreperous Fri 30-Nov-12 20:26:18

Marking place - arrived this morning.

fergoose Fri 30-Nov-12 20:33:32

Love the packaging and compact bottle. Pump is great and quick and easy to use.
I agree refill would be good.
I am not keen on the fragrance - would prefer it to be a bit stronger.
I would recommend it to others though - if the price were right anyway.

archfiend Fri 30-Nov-12 20:37:02

Mine arrived today too. So far so good!

Q1. Like the bottle size and design. Pump feels 'solid' so should last through a few refills unlike some other refillable pump sprays I've used.

Q2. I like the liquid, but it is pricy. I buy other Method products quite regularly but considering the amount of washing we do this would become pretty expensive over time. Would definitely buy if on offer though.

Q3. I really like the fragrance. I'm not a big fan of overly perfumed washing liquids as I find they tend to smell very odd after a few days folded up. Cleaning power seems good-have tackled bedding and uniforms so far with good results.

Q4. It's fairly unlikely that it would come up, but if it did I would recommend it as a washing liquid but only when it's on offer! I have been known to recommend/ demand that people use other Method products though (wood polish, just fabulous!)

EmpressOfTheNorthPole Fri 30-Nov-12 20:41:42

Smells nice and fresh. I was a bit sceptical about whether five squirts would really be enough, but my washing came out beautifully and it's so much less of a faff than measuring it out. I saw refill packs on Ocado so I think I'll be sticking with it ands will definitely recommend it to friends.

Rowbot Fri 30-Nov-12 20:56:16

Q1. I really like the design of the compact bottle and squirty dispenser. Takes up much less space in the cupboard.
Q2. Does it have a refill? Wouldn't want to keep buying plastic bottles. It is more expensive than my normal Eco brand, maybe the refill could be more competitive.
Q3. Undecided on fragrance yet, it is stronger than my usual brand, don't love it, don't hate it.
Q4. Would probably recommend to my mum and other Eco minded folk!

Rowbot Fri 30-Nov-12 20:57:51

Whoops forgot the cleaning bit smile

It has managed to get my DDs cream cardigan free of tomato sauce and poster paint so I'm impressed so far.

Just got home and seen the package, will be testing tomorrow -can't wait!

<sad> lol

moogdroog Fri 30-Nov-12 21:51:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I thought the pump was lovely! Really bright, colourful, sturdy--and French--. Can't believe something so small could contain 25 washes.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Only the price really, though would stock up if it was on offer. Will investigate the cost effectiveness of the refill though.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance in its concentrated form is ok, but not totally delicious like the wood floor cleaner and the shower spray. On the clothes though, it's pretty pleasant and barely there. Cleaning power, I'm really impressed! It coped admirably with a vest onto which DDs teething na

My bottle arrived late pm. Will report back after a few washes smile

moogdroog Fri 30-Nov-12 21:54:41

Whoops. Butter fingers:

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance in its concentrated form is ok, but not totally delicious like the wood floor cleaner and the shower spray. On the clothes though, it's pretty pleasant and barely there. Cleaning power, I'm really impressed! It coped admirably with a vest onto which DDs teething nappy had leaked and numerous food stains. Well I never!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Should I be talking about such a thrilling subject then yes I would!

Haberdashery Fri 30-Nov-12 21:56:41

>> habs do you not like the smell??

NO! It's horrible. It just smells sort of unpleasantly synthetic to me. The reason I buy Ecover is that it smells much less than nearly everything else and what smell there is smells sort of fresh and herby, not that awful ozonic tang. Honestly, this smells like that Body Shop ocean perfume from the late eighties.

Will come back and answer questions properly tomorrow when I have done more than just a tea towel wash!

StainlessSteelCat Fri 30-Nov-12 22:07:38

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Amazingly brilliant - it arrived at my house the same day as the norovirus, so it's obviously got timing.
Really like the bottle design, like how it tells you to get the last little bit out of the bottom, it was easy to open and use.
Even better, it's got stuff clean. That is very important to me, especially at the moment: I did 5 washing loads yesterday and everything is clean, smells fine.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Maybe sell in bigger bottles as well? Do you do refills?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like my clothes to smell clean - and I'm not sure how I can define that, but they do, so the fragrance is good. If there was no fragrance I'd feel cheated, and if it was too strong I'd object.
It's cleaned multiple bodily fluids and food off bedding and clothes in the last 24 hours, it can definitely clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. It works, smells good and isn't too bad for environment.

Sheepasaurus Fri 30-Nov-12 22:07:39

I received my bottle today and will be testing it out tomorrow on a nappy wash.

ISeeSmallPeople Fri 30-Nov-12 22:10:33

Where is mine? sad

PenisColada Fri 30-Nov-12 22:17:35

Q1 - loved the overall impression. Lovely and small and compact. Smelled nice and I like Method stuff anyway.

Q2 - I guess it will be more expensive than the own brand stuff I usually use so I would change the price and also do a refill option.

Q3 - liked the fragrance a lot. Not sickly chemical smell like most brands. My load of whites has just come out lovely with no stains so I am very impressed indeed.

Q4 . Yes I would recommend. I like environmentally friendly products / companies and this one works and smells nice (although it does not smell as nice as the almond wood floor cleaner unfortunately ! )

acsec Fri 30-Nov-12 22:31:58

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the size and the ease of use - the bottle fitted easily into my crowded under-sink cupboard!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Not that I can see. I don't know how much it would be to buy, so maybe if it was quite expensive then the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
It didn't really smell of much except 'clean', which is fine by me. I used a 40 degree wash for some things from my classroom - grubby mats and material, a teddy bear and 2 dolls that had been been in the mud. All have come out clean and smelling fresh.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think so, yes. If I was talking about eco detergents I would recommend Method. I'd say it cleans well and smells fresh and a little goes a long way!

First wash tonight.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I use the Method wood polish and like it a lot, so my impression of the brand is good .Was a nice surprise to see the cute spotty box arrive. The design of the pump is really nice - a good shape to hold, and not necessarily looking like a laundry product straight off, which is a good thing in my book). The pump action is such a great idea, no more messy caps and bottles with sticky dribble down the sides (is it just me?!). So far pretty good. As other posters have said, bottle feels very solid so refills are a great, and eco, idea.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
English instructions (or even visual/diagram instructions - it's so simple to use). Not sure if it is available in a 50 washes size but that's be great too. I also used it for pre-treating some tea-stained items, which are still just as stained sadly, so improving the stain removal if possible.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
It smells very strong and chemically in the bottle, but barely at all on the clean clothes. I would like the clean washing to smell a little stronger perhaps; I missed the clean washing smell when folding (and pairing the socks). Though with such a concentrated liquid, could you get a stronger smell?

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Not yet, as so far it seems to perform fairly averagely as laundry products go, but for a larger cost. There are other eco brands which work just as well for less. However, stain remover/pretreatment with the same liquid would sway me, as would a refillable bottle and cheaper refills.

CanonFodder Fri 30-Nov-12 23:41:37

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I use method products a lot anyway, and have thought about buying this a few times but was out off by the price and the fact that my skin is quite sensitive to changes in liquid use. Love the packaging design and noticed tonight as I strolled round the supermarket that they do a huge refill pouch, yey, thoug hit was £14 gulp! If it were on special offer I'd possibly buy one though.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Actually, so far no, aside from previously mentioned price. It didnt totally remove the stains from my tea towel, but then neither does the persil I generally use unless i wash at 50 degrees, so I'll try it on a higher heat wash next time. No itching skin yet either and I wore the top i washed this am this pm, so that's a good sign!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Love the fragrance, subtle and not too artificial. Cleaning powder seems as good as anything else I have used.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yep, I would, I'm pretty evangelical about their products anyway, so I could add this to my 'oh you HAVE to try their xxx schpiel.

Can I Just take this opportunity to tell them how much I LOVE their Tub Scrub. Only thing that gets the kids toy scuff marks out of the bath! smile

ScillyCow Sat 01-Dec-12 05:26:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the look of it - and like everyone else am amazed it can do 25 washes! When the pump is sideways (as I had to hold it to get the liquid into the machine) it was hard to get a 'full squirt' if you know what I mean, even when the bottle was full, so a little awkward in that way.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It does seem expensive - but I don't normally buy Method stuff because of the price though I know it is really nice. I guess if I could afford Method stuff I would snap it up!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I quite liked the smell. Cleaning power is good - and we've really tested it here - nothing like a bit of middle-of the night vomiting to test a new washing product!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would (if they were able to afford it!) I would say that I had tried a free sample and that it worked really well - I have friends who use the granite cleaner and I will definitely mention it to them.

BeerTricksPott3r Sat 01-Dec-12 07:21:56

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Neat packaging, very space-saving. A refill option would be a good idea, with perhaps a larger capacity initial pump. Design very attractive
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Bigger bottle, as don't tend to buy washing liquid every week
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I didn't like the fragrance on the washing as it came out of the machine, but when the items were dry they were left smelling faintly of it and that's not overpowering at all.
It cleaned heavy cotton throws, a white load (work and school shirts), a dark load (very muddy jeans, walking socks) and cotton dog bedding. All came out very clean and fresh and with none of the residue washing liquids sometimes leave.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend Method LL to someone. It would be handy to take on a self-catering holiday as it's so compact and there isn't really a need for separate fabric softener imo. I think it's worth the extra cost, on the basis of this initial trial and I will be likely to buy it myself if I can find a stockist nearby.

Marking place for laundry pile later.

Sokmonsta Sat 01-Dec-12 08:36:18

Got parcel yesterday lunchtime. Just after dh had finished the last wash while I was out angry. Still. Basket will soon fill up!

TeaTowelQueen Sat 01-Dec-12 08:53:17

First wash in - will be back later......

SoupDragon Sat 01-Dec-12 08:57:20

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Nice and small compared to the large box of powder I currently have. I stopped using tablets to give me more control over how much detergent I used and the pump would give me the same control without the large box.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The fragrance. I hate it. I did my first wash with no softener so the scent is all Method and it is, I don't know... chemically in some way I think. t least it isn't overpowering which is a plus!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Fragrance - see above. Cleaning power - so far so good - comparable to the Watrose Biological powder I usually use. I washed a load of white cushion covers & throws from the living room which my grubby spaniel had been sleeping on. They were covered in muddy doggy foot prints (you can see what the weather has been like!!) and after washing, the dog smell had gone and they were white again. it has yet to be tested against rugby kit but there is ample time for that!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? ON first impressions, possibly - if they were looking for a more eco-friendy option. I guess a lot would depend on price.

Received yesterday, marking place as washing going on now!

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 01-Dec-12 09:00:27

Ah bonjour!

Lovely compact bottle.

Going to start using it on the school uniform and rowing kit. A good test!

insancerre Sat 01-Dec-12 09:06:37

I got home to a red card yesterday from the post man so will have to collect it from the post office today if I catch them or monday.

FlappingToad Sat 01-Dec-12 09:14:59

Q1 Overall impression of the pump was good. It has a good wide base so does not slip around. the pump was easy to use.

Q2 I would change the smell. It made the washing smell faintly of Toilet Duck.Method usually excel in lovely fragrant products so I was a bit disappointed.

Q3 I was not fond of the fragrance. I did a mixed colour load and 5 squirts on 40o wash but it did not remove stains from lighter coloured clothing. It was good when used to soak overnight.

Q4 I probably would recommend this product but only if the price was lower.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked it, its easy to hold, dispense and store in the kitchen. Unfortunately my 3 year old also finds it quite easy to use

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A larger size maybe

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I quite liked the fragrance actually, which is surprising as washing powder fragrances are usually way too overpowering for me. However, if there was a choice between this and an unscented version I would go for the unscented.
I found that I could half the dose i.e. 2 squirts for a full load and a machine full of filthy toddler clothing still comes up perfectly clean. The only thing it didn't clean overly well, even at a full dose was some greasy tablecloths, but tbh, not much would get them clean as they were vile.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I'd probably mention about the squirty top, but I don't generally tend to talk washing powder with my friends.

themadBelgian Sat 01-Dec-12 10:22:33

Can I just ask at what stage of "testing" this product is please? I received it yesterday and washed a load of white towels, face cloths etc and it came out with some pink stains on them. This has never happened before and there was definitely nothing red or pink in the wash, so I can only assume that it came from the washing liquid. Bit annoyed as you can imagine.

themadBelgian Sat 01-Dec-12 10:24:23

Have to confess also not keen on the fragrance - for an eco-friendly product it does smell quite chemical. Horses for courses though on this one I think; you definitely can't please everyone.

JustFabulous Sat 01-Dec-12 11:03:15

I have been spraying into the drawer but just put the first wash on with it being sprayed into the drum. Still not folded the washing so can't comment on cleanliness yet.

mm1975 Sat 01-Dec-12 11:04:01

My bottle arrived yesterday, fab sized bottle, first wash is on so will see how it does on my boys cross country kit smile

SoupDragon Sat 01-Dec-12 11:18:17

themadBelgian My wash was all white and came out with no stains. How odd - the liquid isn't coloured either is it?

Mine is currently being tested with 2 bed loads of pukey bedding!

cutie101 Sat 01-Dec-12 11:30:50

Bottle just arrived. Really small....impressed if that can do up to 25 washes!. Have opened it and smells good. Will put on a wash after lunch!

ilovesprouts Sat 01-Dec-12 11:53:04

just got mine today its smells nice will be doing a wash later .... smile

elizaco Sat 01-Dec-12 12:00:09

Q1 - Postive first impressions. I liked the compact size. I also liked how I have control over how much product I use, although the recommended amount didn't seems very much. Having said that, pleased with the outcome of the wash :-)

Q2 - Would like to see different sized bottles available.

Q3 - I liked the fragrance - it had a proper "clean" smell, without being too overpowering.

Q4 - I would certainly talk about it, simply because it is so different to the products we normally use. Would probably recommend it, although would probably only expect people to try it at a competitve price.

Witchesbrewandbiscuits Sat 01-Dec-12 12:10:59

Marking place for later

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Loved the small size - I can just keep this on my kitchen window sill instead of shoving an enormous box into a cupboard. Also loved the pump mechanism as I'm sure I usually use far too much and am wasteful.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No, really good overall impression.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Nice fresh smell, not too overpowering. Cleaned really well - I had to wash my husband's filthy butchery aprons (black) which all came out well. I pre-treated some poop-stained baby vests before washing which also came out clean so very impressed.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes - not sure of the price point compared to other products as normally buy what's on offer but as it cleans well, the compact size is a real selling point to me in a family house full of clutter.

Thanks for letting me try!

EmpressOfTheNorthPole Sat 01-Dec-12 12:24:58

Answering the questions properly now.
First impressions: bit sceptical tbh, I thought if it worked it would be wonderful but knowing what DD can do to her clothes, wasn't sure 5 squirts of something eco-friendly would be enough.

Anything you'd change: After trying it, nothing at all!

Fragrance and cleaning power: I'm all bunged up but DD (fussy) said she liked the fragrance. The cleaning power is excellent. Five squirts really did get her shirts white.

Recommend: Definitely. I'd recommend it for its power, compact size and ease of use. It's much easier to do 5 squirts than to faff about measuring. I also like the refill packs.

HazeltheMcWitch Sat 01-Dec-12 12:26:51

I've still not got my delivery. No spotty box (ahem) and no maize 'taches. But I do have a washing mountain that is threatening to take over the world...

Sleepyfergus Sat 01-Dec-12 12:47:02

Nothing here either.

Sleepyfergus Sat 01-Dec-12 12:47:55

Just noticed your name Hazel
Are you north of the border too?

HazeltheMcWitch Sat 01-Dec-12 12:58:44

Not any more, Sleepyfergus, although am a Jock through and through. One day I will return...

HazeltheMcWitch Sat 01-Dec-12 12:59:17

Ooh, should have deployed a smile there, in hindsight.

minicc Sat 01-Dec-12 13:09:00

1) was a little underwhelmed- not sure how it would produce as much as it has! Have done 3 washes and it still feels full!
2) instructions in English perhaps? Also, I've been sticking it in the drawer bit. Is this right?
3) smelt a bit 'planty' for me at first but since I've actually washed stuff it smells v clean and fresh and doesn't mix the fab conditioner unpleasantly. It cleans just as well as the Aldi non bio gel.
4) I would, I was very impressed with the product, especially as an eco product.

Can I have some more pleeeeeeeeeaase?!

PatTheHammer Sat 01-Dec-12 13:26:16

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the size of the bottle and the design. Easy to use. Disappointed with the feel of the clothes after the wash though. Can't put my finger on it but they just don't feel right, not as soft and they are kind of a bit more scrunched up than they usually are (for control purposes I used exactly the same load size and settings as I would with my usual Aldi washing liquid).

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It's too expensive and I don't think it is for people like myself who don't also use a fabric softener so maybe add something that softens the clothes.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

It cleaned everything well and the fragrance is very subtle and I quite liked it. I do prefer a nice lavender fragrance usually but this was not bad, not too strong and over-powering.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I have recommeded method products before as i think they are really effective at cleaning. The washing liquid has effective cleaning power but i wouldn't recommend it based on the feel of the clothes after.

insancerre Sat 01-Dec-12 14:27:15

The first wash is on.
The pedant in me was really irritated by the letter with the product. Why no capital letters?

really liked how it is a pump style, its really great no mess no spillages.
Not really change anything just being in a bigger bottle would be great.
The fragrance is good not too strong and not too weak, made my clothes smell really nice and fresh.
I would most definitely recommend it method laundry liquid to my friends and family as it is simple to use no room for spillages and mess, Probably last longer than usual liquid brands as depending on what stainage their is on clothes depends on how much you use, but i think it would be a product to buy and use.

Mibby Sat 01-Dec-12 15:24:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Pretty good so far, compact size, smell good, cleans well (got a green pen stain out of DH fancy white shirt smile)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Not the liquid itself but I suspect it'll be expensive so Id change the price

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? See above, cleans well, smells pretty nice

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Would definitely recommend if it was on offer somewhere, probably not at 'normal' price tho

Sparklesandglitter Sat 01-Dec-12 15:28:53

Q1) my overall impressions are that it is very compact and clean, no dripping or mess. The packaging is sturdy and looks nice, although it would be better in English not French!!

Q2) I wouldn't make any changes but hope there are refills

Q3) the fragrance was nice, not over powering an seemed to linger well on the clothes

Q4) yes I would definitely recommend it, as long as the price was sensible

Good quality product in excellent packaging. A very good innovation in washing liquid, simple and effective to use thanks!! smile

m0nkeynuts Sat 01-Dec-12 16:02:25

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Very good! I love the convenience of the pump which is a definite improvement on scooping powder like I do normally!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Nothing I'd change, although I'm not sure what the normal RRP is because I don't think I've seen it in-store.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is great - a nice surprise. I normally add fabric softener because I don't like the smell of my regular detergent, but decided to give it a miss while I tried out Method.... and the washing smells lovely! The clothes I've washed so far have come out nice & clean but I haven't tried it with anything heavily soiled yet.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I'd recommend it because it's so easy to use and leaves the clothes smelling lovely!

headfairy Sat 01-Dec-12 16:03:10

Woohoooo! Finally got mine, I liked the note on the front "be gentle with me postie" grin

Wash of whites is on now so I'll report back later.

SoupDragon Sat 01-Dec-12 16:03:50

The packing chips kept DD quite for over an hour grin

headfairy Sat 01-Dec-12 16:06:13

It's a shame they couldn't find a more environmentally friendly packing material, I don't think those polystyrene wotsits are recyclable.

SoupDragon Sat 01-Dec-12 16:07:42

They aren't polystyrene. I believe they are maize or something similar.

Follyfoot Sat 01-Dec-12 16:08:56

Will do my report in a bit, but the polystyrene wotsits are potato wotsits I think. They will dissolve down the sink if you run the tap or you can compost 'em smile

SoupDragon Sat 01-Dec-12 16:09:01

DD has just spent an hour with a box of them and a wet sponge, dampening the ends to stick them together.

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 01-Dec-12 16:09:05

Like cheesy wotsits?

SoupDragon Sat 01-Dec-12 16:09:27

Only not orange.

Follyfoot Sat 01-Dec-12 16:11:23

Have to confess I've don that too SoupDragon, you can make some great shapes grin

Unfortunately our Postie wasn't as careful as and the note asked him to be!

MaryBS Sat 01-Dec-12 16:28:01

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It looked a good idea, the packaging is distinctive (particularly with it being in French, LOL
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Not really, I'd like a bigger bottle, and I'd like a refill option.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was lovely, I'm ultra sensitive to smells, and will sometimes reject some based on their smell, but I preferred this to my regular washing liquid. I was very impressed with how bright the clothes came out, both whites and coloureds, compared to my current non-bio. I would definitely buy this if the price were right.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Most definitely. I would tell them it smelled nice, washed well and is kind to sensitive skin.

MaryBS Sat 01-Dec-12 16:29:07

Just seen the comments about the packing - my son is using it as snow in our Christmas display we put up today grin

melliebobs Sat 01-Dec-12 16:30:31

Only just got mine this afternoon. :-) does anyone know if it's non-bio? (it's all in bloomin French) if it's not dh will be doing his own washing grin

klm1702 Sat 01-Dec-12 16:33:50

Just received yesterday so will post feedback in the next few days :-)

klm1702 Sat 01-Dec-12 16:34:28

I think the blue bottles are non bio but could be wrong!

justaweeone Sat 01-Dec-12 16:36:14

1/ liked the packaging, product very easy to store as so small
2/ I would like a refill option
3/ smells nice and cleaned well, even the dogs bed
4/ yes would tell people about it esp if they have a septic tank and they did not want to use to my chemical based products

klm1702 Sat 01-Dec-12 16:38:14

Checked the website and read through the list of ingredients, although it doesn't specify bio/non bio it does state against each of the ingredients "non irritant to skin" so hoping that's non bio equivalent!

WhatWouldGrandmaDo Sat 01-Dec-12 16:42:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Really liked it - the bottle is small, it's very easy to use and the results seem to be good too.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
As others have said, the price - I do about 6 loads a week and our water is very hard so this wouldn't last us a month, I don't think. If the water here was soft I guess it'd be better value.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really liked the fragrance - normally I prefer fragrance free as many of the fragrances in other products are really artificial and unpleasant but this was nice and fresh. As I'm drying stuff indoors at this time of year that's quite important right now!
I was also pleasantly surprised by the cleaning power - DS1's white school shirts can be a bit challenging but they came out well and DS2's efforts with the tomato soup on his top didn't defeat it either. So all round I was impressed.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely. My mum was there when the product arrived and she was extremely sceptical about 'eco cleaning products' in general but I think she may have to eat her words in this case. I'd say it's definitely something worth considering if you want to reduce your impact on the environment.
I'm no longer using cloth nappies (DS2 toilet trained!) but I'm not sure if this would be suitable to use with them - I thought powder was recommended over liquitabs etc to avoid build up. So if a cloth user asked me about it I'd not be too sure if it was suitable.

Cardea Sat 01-Dec-12 16:43:57

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Great size, like the pump as less messy than pouring into the lid as I always manage to get drips down the edge of the bottle, and I drop powder on the floor.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I don't think so.
I did wonder about the price but the refill is much better value per wash (around 16p)and I suppose the pump costs more money to produce than a box, and actually it compares well to Fairy at full price.. however, I tend to buy my washing powder in bulk when it's offer, so it is a bit more per wash than I'd usually spend.. but not a huge amount more. I do buy Method cleaning products as they compare reasonably price wise with most branded cleaners, work well and don't have as many harsh chemicals.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the fragrance, and I like that you can get a non-fragrance version as well. The cleaning power is OK - has coped with all the muddy PE kit but hasn't got out whatever they put into the pasta sauce at school from the white shirts, but to be fair not much does!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend, if it came up in conversation (!). Good points are size, less mess, fewer harsh chemicals, nice smell plus non smelly option.

MerryMarigold Sat 01-Dec-12 16:47:50

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It's fantastic - so compact. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'd make more of it being natural

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance really lovely. Not too perfumey, just very fresh. No need for fab con (mostly I don't use it anyway). As for cleaning power, not used on whites yet!!! The real test will be the clothes I normally wash in biological.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would say price is v competitive, it's very small to store, smells amazing, and is fine for sensitive skin so I can wash all our clothes in it (usually wash kids clothes separately). Great for everyone in the family.

I'll post more on power later when I've tried it on dh's cycling clothes (very sweaty) and kids school shirts.

MirandaWest Sat 01-Dec-12 16:51:09

Found mine On the back doorstep last night having been away. Will test it tomorrow (much washing to be done grin)

MerryMarigold Sat 01-Dec-12 16:56:20

"It says 95% plant based, biodegradable formula with no harsh chemicals" so am assuming non bio. Ds1 gets eczema with lots of non bio's so am going to see how this performs on him.

nextphase Sat 01-Dec-12 16:59:10

MNHQ - whats going to happen when this thread hit 1000 messages???

Love the bottle - 25 washes and it fits in the cupboard - which is a very good job, as the pump is totally un toddler proof - they would get it out in a jiffy (my 18 month old knows how to get his cream out of a pump bottle) Any way to put a lock on the pump mechanism?

The PO (thanks to whoever said they had a spotty box) also loved it - I went to pick it up from the PO, and mentioned if it was what I thought, it was in a spotty box. They requested all customers were as helpful as us!

Washing - will leave DH to deal with that over the week (I'm travelling), and get his thoughts.

How much is it? And would a refill for the bottle be available?

BobblyGussets Sat 01-Dec-12 17:00:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Nice and Neat.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No: it's is nice a pared down, so nothing "bad" to take away. it would be nice if it was a bit cheaper though.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The fragrance is nice. Not too strong. I think I received the fresh air one.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would. I have a friend who likes eco/organic products. We both like this sort of thing and often exchange bottles of organic shampoo, mild suncream etc.

gremlinmum Sat 01-Dec-12 17:04:09

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Amazed I couldn't believe you can get 25 washes from this small bottle. It's great that it doesn't take up much room and very easy to use
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I believe that it is quite expensive and I don't think I would buy it (lost my job) unless it was significantly cheaper
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I liked the fragrance and it washes as good as my usual soap powder tabs
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would say to give it a try smile

BobblyGussets Sat 01-Dec-12 17:11:09

oOOps: cleaning power good. I used it on my white 600 thread count cotton bedding and it looks fine. Nowt wrong with it.

JulesJules Sat 01-Dec-12 17:59:12

Was relieved to get the email with the translation - was a bit thrown to start with by the French packaging!

Looking online from the link in the OP I see that this bottle retails at £4.99 so approx 20p per wash, and the refill pack is £14 for 85 washes, so approx 16.5p per wash.

I love the look of the bottle, it's dinky. I like the idea of having less to carry home from the supermarket, and that it will take up a lot less space in the cupboard, but having said that I would buy a bigger size if available.

I liked the smell of the liquid (I got the "fresh air" one. I would try the others - "peony" and I like the fact it's also available in an unscented version)

Very easy to use. I've only done one wash with it so far, came out clean, soft and smelling nice - fresh and not too perfumed.

Will report back when I've done sheets, towels, sports kit etc.

The only reservation I have about buying it so far is that the Miele man told me liquid washes aren't good for your machine and it's better to use powder.

Filmbuffmum Sat 01-Dec-12 18:03:06

Just finished first two loads:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
As others have said, the pump design is excellent- I usually use Ecover, and refill the large bottles at a local shop. I have had the same laundry detergent and washing up liquid bottles for over 5 years, so would prefer a similar refilling option as I like the idea of having 'saved' several hundred plastic bottles! However the refilling process and use of the actual bottles for Ecover is messy, and I like the pump.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I don't think 25 washes is large enough- so even though the bottle is quite a nice compact size, I would prefer something larger (would get through this in a couple of weeks).
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really like the fragrance- a bit stronger than Ecover, but not unpleasant (and I have hever used any other detergents or any fabric conditioners because the perfume irritates my skin)- this seems fine.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
It is quite expensive, but I would probably recommend. As someone else said, the tub scrub is amazing (and I love the design of that bottle)- I also like the shower spray and clementine cleaner, so already a pretty frequent user. Still not sure about this, as I do like refilling my existing bottles!

Oops, 24p a wash, approx.for the 25 washes size. Misread the price!

mumblechum1 Sat 01-Dec-12 18:06:42

Q1 Like the pump design. They really do need to do a refill pouch.
Q2. No, not really
Q3. I like the smell.
Q4. Yes, because it's a dinky design so you don't waste any liquid and smells nice.

MaureenMLove Sat 01-Dec-12 18:07:46

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I was a bit dubious that just 4-6 squirts would be enough to clean laundry
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? less packaging! It took me ages to pull the wrapper off!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Fragrance was lovely. Really different from the usual highly fragranced products on the market
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes. I would tell them the fragrance is light, but fresh and clean smelling. That it comes in a small bottle that can be much more easily stored away and that the cleaning power is very good.

lubeybooby Sat 01-Dec-12 18:14:47

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the look of the bottle, nice design and compact. and was really intrigued to see if it would have the cleaning power.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Nothing, although maybe the price as it isn't really comparable to my usual brand. I would be happy to pay a little more but £6 for 25 washes works out quite a lot more for me.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I love the fragrance, subtle and really clean smelling, and the cleaning power has been really good on two loads of washing so far, both with food stains that have come off no problem.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would yes because it's so compact and looks great as well as working well.

just back from a few days away - this was waiting for me when I got home. Will wash my holiday clothes in it to try and then get cracking on the rest of the laundry. grin

Dontbesodramatic Sat 01-Dec-12 18:31:19

Mine arrived today! First wash is in.
I have to say, for such a small bottle it was very heavily packed.Quite a large box with lots and lots of polystyrenehmm

Mine arrived today, first wash will be done tomorrow with it!

lubeybooby Sat 01-Dec-12 18:59:15

Just to add further, I'm now wearing a dressing gown I washed in it, and it smells really clean and fresh like it's been line dried outside, when actually I dried it in the tumble drier... so I'm now thinking the 'fresh air' scent is entirely correct, that's the effect it achieves!

Bicnod Sat 01-Dec-12 19:07:26

Marking place - arrived today and first load in tumbler...

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents Sat 01-Dec-12 19:12:04

I did a load. Didn't do much for a coffee stain on a white tablecloth but it was a 40 degree was so I shall try again. Couldn't get much of a scent but I am all coldy.
<sits on fence for now>

I love the smallness and the claims to be INCROYABLE! though. V. much.

Yas1 Sat 01-Dec-12 19:13:43

Just used this on my second wash. Question1) I liked the bottle and the different kind of dispensing. It doesn't make a mess. Wound have preferred the instructions in English though!
Question 2) I would like the instructions in English. Also a bigger bottle with more washes especially for the advertised price.
Question 3) I think it should have more fragrance even though I used fabric conditioner my wash was not as fragrant as my usual wash. My clothes were clean.
Question 4) I would probably tell people about the liquid if it came up in the conversation.

CharlotteBronteSaurus Sat 01-Dec-12 19:14:10

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
LOVED the teeny tiny size. We often shop on foot, so a really concentrated product is great. Also we have a teeny tiny kitchen, so again something that needs less storage space is good.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price. I am a bit of an own brand/special offers only kind of gal. The cleaning power was absolutely fine, but no better or worse than the detergent I usually buy at less than half the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The cleaning power was absolutely fine, but no better or worse than the detergent I usually buy at less than half the price. Fragrance was perfectly pleasant, and not overpowering. It didn't shift the chilli stain on dd1's white polo shirt at 40 degrees, but then my usual detergent doesn't always shift tomato-based stains either. We didn't pre-treat, but will try that next time and add to the thread if it shifts.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, for practicality, for those with limited storage space or shopping on foot. As long as they weren't skint though wink.

Don'tbe - it's not polystyrene they are maize chips so fully compostable.

Dh has just come in and told me I have to buy Method again in future as it managed to clean the wonder of red grape juice, wotsit and pizza puke out of white sheets!

We and a small leakage with the box being bashed but the little left in the bottle has done 4 washes today and there may just be enough for another tomorrow if needs be.

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents Sat 01-Dec-12 19:40:24

blueberry, I'd report your post and ask MNHQ for a replacement - I'm sure they'd pass it on to Method.

marksandy Sat 01-Dec-12 19:43:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I think the product is great and would definitely recommend it. I was a bit sceptical on first impressions as I didn't think that such a tiny amount of liquid would clean a whole load of washing. I was pleasantly surprised. The laundry smelt really fresh and it tackled heavy staining ( I am weaning my baby and everything ends up smothered in puree). I love the dispenser and the overall size of the bottle. It certainly makes a change from the huge box of washing powder I usually have.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Probably the price as it is fairly expensive. It would have to be on offer for me to buy it.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I really liked the fragrance. It wasn't too strong and wasn't flowery like a lot of brands. Most of my laundry stains came out, only a couple of faint carrot stains remained.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would. It's very effective, a great size and good for the environment.

BuddhaBellyXmasBaubles Sat 01-Dec-12 19:54:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Very sturdy bottle, good size, liked the style and was easy to use. Suprised the size containes 25 washes too.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Price
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Love the fragrance really fresh and clean smelling, even worked on husbands white work shirts, we've also had the sickness bug in the household this week so its had a very sturdy test!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend this to a friend, especially as its kind to skin, and eco friendly, but I would mention that it is pricey

SuzysZoo Sat 01-Dec-12 20:36:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I love the pump - it doesn't take up too much room in my small washing area and it was easy to use.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The smell could be a bit stronger.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I love the smell, but it could be a bit stronger for me. The cleaning power was fine when I used the right amount. The first time I used it I skimped a bit on the number of squirts and my washing still smelt of sweaty socks. But that was my fault and I can't blame the product. I washed the curtains and they smelled lovely when they came out of the machine and I hung them up to dry.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I'd say it was ok. It doesn't pass my ideal 10p per wash threshold, but not many do! I like the "natural" aspect and the "green" aspect of using concentrated. However, I do tend to buy whatever is on offer, so I am not stuck on one product.

themadBelgian Sat 01-Dec-12 20:45:49

Soupdragon - no the liquid isn't coloured so it is really odd. Thinking maybe it reacted with something else? Not keen to try again though - or not on a white wash anyway. Adding stains kind of defeats the purpose of washing IYSWIM...

I have SuePerbly, they are on it and another is winging it to me as I type smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 01-Dec-12 21:08:47

Well I shouldn't be allowed to do these tests... I am rubbish.

First load, first squirt, missed the drawer entirely and it went all over the floor. grin

JustFabulous Sat 01-Dec-12 21:11:18

Squirty bit failing at times for me now.

Really like it, I've done about 5 loads so far and today the first time I wore method washed clothes and I could really smell it. Bit strong in smell I've started using 3 pumps instead.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? really liked it nice and compact and feels sturdy

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Bit less strong smelling
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?I liked the smell but was a bit overpowering. Cleaning power seems fine
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would, very convenient and effective

CMOTDibbler Sat 01-Dec-12 21:23:23

I've just done 3 washes, and am genuinely impressed. DS's yellow jodphurs, which had a thick encrusting of mud, chocolate, ketchup. horse ointment earlier are now spotless. All the washing is nice and clean, and I like the smell - not too much perfume, but just enough. No gunk in the machine either - which we have a lot of issues with as I almost only do 30' washes, so I'll be interested to see how that goes.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Very good
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? No, but refill pouches would be good
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Very happy
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes if it came up.

Whojamaflip Sat 01-Dec-12 21:30:13

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Really like the bottle shape and the size - I can fit it in the cupboard instead of having a huge box sitting on the side. Was a bit dubious about the tiny amount it said to use but it worked!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Instructions in English would help! Also not sure if it was supposed to go in the drawer or in the drum?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Nice fresh smell, didn't find it overpowering at all, just clean! And it managed to get my husbands filthy, stinking farming overalls clean first time, including most of the unidentified stains! Also brought the school polo shirts back to bright white again, inlcuding removing paint and glue.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Absolutely would recommend - very impressed with its cleaning and the dinky packaging.

IMayBeSomeTime Sat 01-Dec-12 21:44:08

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the small bottle and the fact that it just needs squirting into the washing machine drawer.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Make it cheaper? Possibly make the squirty top a bit easier to secure against small children

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Quite liked the smell although quite strong. Seems to clean well, even on the delicates cycle/30 degrees

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes: it works, it doesn't take up much space and it's very easy to dose. Would probably only buy when on special offer though.

androbbob Sat 01-Dec-12 22:01:37

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Loving the size of the bottle and the pump action as I usually spill powder on the floor. Not overly keen on the perfume - smelt a little chemically

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The price! I have tried several other Method products when on offer and would probably get this again if on offer. Hope they do re-fill packs though as bottle is wasteful if have to keep throwing away

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Not liking the 'fresh air' fragrance - too chemically. Cleaning power seemed good on bedding and school uniform. Will try on horse riding clothing tomorrow - they are usually messy!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would tell that I had tried it as a sample and liked it and would encourage those interested to try it. Eco cleaning products are good.

Ispywith Sat 01-Dec-12 22:11:36

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Apart from the label being in French, nice sized tidy bottle with sturdy pump.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Not sure how good the value to money is as not a large amount of washes for the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Really liked the fragrance and it got all my washing clean - even got felt tip pen out of my daughters coat! Really pleased with the softness of the washing. I could definately tell the difference from my other washing powder.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend this washing liquid to a friend because of the softness and cleaning ability. Not sure many would use it as most use whats ever on offer at the supermarket!

SantasBlotto Sat 01-Dec-12 22:12:35

This stuff is bloody ace grin But to answer your questions...

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the small packaging, I liked the cheeky style of writing, I liked the easy action pump. Overall, it felt very young and fresh - not patronisingly "Green" if you know what I mean

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I'd like it in a bigger pack. I have a family of 5 and it won't last long. Bigger pack would also save packaging/cost.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

LOVED the smell - smelt just like laundry dried on the washing line. Lasted well too - at least 4 days on bedding. Also I didn't need/use softener. Cleaning power was as good if not better than my normal stuff. Very good on white towels done at 60*

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I already did - I texted my sister and told her about it. She loves the line-fresh smell and in winter it's not possible. It is now.

Thanks Method and MN smile

Zhx3 Sat 01-Dec-12 23:11:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I love how tiny it is - 300ml for 25 washes compared with 1.9L for my current pack (54 washes). It seems like a good sturdy pack, I hope there's a refill available. Always love Method's packaging shapes - they really stand out on the shelf.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I wonder if there's a 50 wash pack? We must do at least 4 loads of laundry a week in my house! And I'm probably weird but I do prefer to put my laundry liquid into a cap and then put the cap into the drum. Sometimes I put the wash on delayed start and I'd rather the laundry liquid didn't soak into the clothes where it's been squirted for several hours before the water has been added. Not done so with the Method stuff but I've found with others that the laundry liquid stains the clothes where it's settled.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really liked the fragrance. It smelled a lot more subtle on my clothes than my usual non-bio and less synthetic. Re. cleaning power, it's no better or worse than my current laundry liquid. I tend to wash everything at 40, and it gets most stains out, but the more stubborn stains (carrot, ketchup, poo etc.) don't come out. Haven't tried at 60.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think I would, because it's so compact and yet has similar cleaning power. I like the sustainability aspect of it. I haven't used it for long enough to see if it has any effect on dc's eczema, but here's hoping.

Dontbesodramatic Sat 01-Dec-12 23:34:33

Thanks Blueberry. Feel more positive towards Method nowgrin

Xavielli Sun 02-Dec-12 00:01:14

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the small size and the ease of measuring the correct amount of liquid.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Perhaps a variety of fragrances would be a good idea.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Seems to get clothes as clean as my regular laundry soap. The fragrance, whilst not offensive, is not to my taste.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, simply for the bottle and ease to dispense.

EmpressOfTheNorthPole Sun 02-Dec-12 00:01:56

JustFabulous, if you align the spout with the pink dot on the bottom it works better.

Lesbeadiva Sun 02-Dec-12 00:10:15

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought it looked really good. Loved the small size as it takes up no space really.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

At the minute nope!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I thought the smell was alright! Cleaning wise it does the job. Two young kids and a grubby (at times) dp. It really works well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would. I would recommend it quote happily to a friend

Vixjax Sun 02-Dec-12 02:32:09

Found method very good, clothes nice and clean, fragrance fine. Appearance of bottle ok- nothing outstanding as it is so concentrated bottle seems small to cover 25 washes and expensive at £6. Perfectly happy with it but nothing particularly special about the product, wouldn't not recommend but wouldn't go out if my way go recommend it.

HilaryM Sun 02-Dec-12 07:37:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I loved the pump. It is quite powerful though, I slightly misfired the first time! I would prefer a squarer bottle for storage purposes, although overall it is very compact.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Bigger bottle perhaps (ie two sizes) and easy refills. Squarer bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Loved the smell. Really nice. Cleaning power good. Not better than my current own brand tablets but perfectly adequate.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I think I would, especially if eco is a priority. I would say it's compact, fun to use (!), refillable, with a lovely fragrance, and much gentler on the environment.

Thanks for the opportunity to try it. I'll be honest and say that the price puts me off, but I do love Method products and use them if I can ie usually when Ocado have them on 3 for 2 or special offer. If this was on offer from time to time I'd stock up then.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the bottle - that it is small and doesn't take up too much room in the cupboard.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
make it a bit less expensive!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Have used it for 2 washes so far and the smell is nice and not too overpowering. I used an extra pump in a white wash and it has shifted the grime from the cuffs of dd1's school shirts.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I have recommended the all purpose cleaning spray and wood floor cleaners to friends. I wouldn't not recommend this, but there is nothing really outstanding to recommend it above others and it is pricey!

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 08:27:37

Sheepasaurus They aren't polystyrene. They are something lie maize - DD spent well over an hour with the box and a damp sponge sticking them together grin Best bit of the trial so far in the Dragon house! They are compostable/biodegradable or will dissolve in water (I think)

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 08:28:23

maxybrown Sun 02-Dec-12 08:42:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Love the size, that I don't have to think about storage, and the fantastic no waste method (ha) of just pumping it straigt in - also no risk of detergent on your hands. It coped well with the washing - I feel I can comment on this already as we have had sickness bugs galore in our house so it has had a lot to battle against and everything has come out clean and fresh smelling - even without my usual fabric softner. I must admit I did wonder how it would cope as I squirted it in as it looks like nothing!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I think the only thing for me would be the price - all my other cleaning products, multi spray,, bathroom cleaner, polish and floor cleaner are all method and we love them - I used them first at work where I clean and now both me and my Mum use them too and they last and last too (or maybe I'm a slatten!) So the only reason I haven't bought it before has been the price - though I do think that were I to win the voucher I would use some of it to stock up on these for a while! (no, that is true honest)

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Smelt fresh as most Method proucts too but again as usual for Method - nothing smells overly harsh or chemically, I didn't feel dubious of it or that we would end up smelling all chemically. Though there are other method proucts I prefer the smell of! AS mentioned it seemed to clean great with all the sickness bugs in our house - going to wash DH's shirts later with it!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would reccomend it yes, but of course would mention the price. I think the simplicity of it is a huge selling point - that and it does the job too! As most things like this can often just be gimmicky - I do not find Method so, it is in a league of it's own really. I think it might prompt my Mum to give it a go buying it now though - will give her a lend of it first!

madbutnotbad Sun 02-Dec-12 08:44:57

1, I really liked the small size of the bottle however mine was rather tricky to get the actual product out. When I was doing my second wash with the product the first squirt came out no problem but after that the squirts (?) were just dribbling a little bit out so I have no idea really how much I ended up using! However I am sure that this is probably just a one off and wouldn't stop me using the product in future.
2, As other testers have said the only thing that I would change would be the price. As a family we are on a very tight income and this would stop me using the washing product at the full price.
3, I wasn't keen on the fragrance when I put it in the dispenser I felt it smelt very manufactured and rather stronger than my usual product however once the washing was washed and dried I found the smell much more acceptable. I was very happy with the cleaning power of the product - I didn't find it any better than my usual washing powder but it was as good as it which I admit I wasn't expecting. School shirts from a messy Reception class girl came up clean!
4, I am not sure that this would come up in conversation with my friends but I will certainly be telling my mum how good the product was as she knows that I am testing it!

Overall I liked the product but sadly think the price will be a stumbling block that will stop us using it on a regular basis.

toffeefee Sun 02-Dec-12 08:45:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Neat little bottle that is easy to store away. Bit fiddly to get the stuff in the draw.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Cheaper price! Lovely stuff, but the price point is too high for what you get. After all, it is only to clean your clothes and there are many many products on the market for that!!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Gorgeous fragrance, my washing still smells lovely even after ironing. Cleaning power so far stands up to my usual powder.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend in terms of performance and scent, but warn of the higher price.

It's £6??? I don't know if I would pay that for 25 washes.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice convenient pack, and no mess, so really good. Cleans well, and like the fact that it is mainly plant based. There is a refill, which is good, but due to the price would only buy on offer.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The pump dispenser can come off/ be thickly to get a full pump out of.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Liked the fragrance, because it was not overpowering or overtly floral. Clothes smelt really clean. Clothes came out as clean as my normal detergent. Worked well on a black wash and whites.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend as Eco friendly and compact.

Fragrance was ok and i use on school whites and it was absolutely brilliant the cuffs and collars very clean

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I was surprised at the cost, too expensive for me
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? the fragrance is lovely, I did a fairly lightly soiled wash which smelt beautiful and felt soft too which surprised me. The heavier soiled wash also came out perfectly clean this had included dinner covered clothes and muddy stuff
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, I would use again and recommend because it works, smells lovely and seems to last well. The only downside is the cost unfortunately

shrimponastick Sun 02-Dec-12 09:57:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I was surprised at the small size. I was expecting a huge, heavy parcel from the postman. I stuck to the amount of pumps prescribed, and it worked fine. I squirted it straight in to the drum on top of the laundry.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I think the price would be put me off using it on a regular basis. Even though I know I should use the 'eco' ranges, they are always more pricey. Other than that - no.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I am used to no fragrance at all with my regular powder (and I don't use softener as i don't like the artificial fragrance). However this left a light scent on the damp clothes, when they were dry it was barely discernible, which is fine with me. They just smelt fresh. We don't have littlies here, just sweaty DH and teen DS. Their shirts smell very clean. I will bje able to tell when I iron them actually. Am impressed with the small amount required to wash a full load.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

yes, I would recommend it. I would say that I like the compact size of the container, who needs great big boxes of powder cluttering up the cupboards? I don't know how mnay of my friends/family would be wiling to pay £6 though for it. They put cost before eco friendliness unfortunately.

hermancakedestroyer Sun 02-Dec-12 10:03:58

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I would say firstly that I love the design of the pump. What a great idea and takes up a lot less space in my kitchen. It was so easy to use as well simply pumping the liquid straight into the drum. I also love the idea that it is good for the environment - having a family we get through a lot of washing and to know you are doing your bit for the environment is great.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
At this time of year my children come home covered in muddy clothes and I found a lot of the clothes that I washed with this liquid had to be pre-treated with a squirt of method laundry liquid to enable them to come up to standard. Therefore I would intensify the strength of the liquid.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I loved the fragrance - the clothes smelt really fresh whilst drying. I would personally make the fragrance a bit stronger. As mentioned in the question above I would intensify the strength of the liquid to be able to cope with children's clothing inparticular.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
With a few tweaks in the manufacture of this liquid ie increasing the strength and therefore cleaning power of this liquid and increasing the strength of the fragrance I would happily recommend Method laundry liquid to a friend / relative. The absolute positives for me are the fabulous design of this product and its environmentally friendly ingredients.

Really enjoyed testing this product

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought it was much smaller than I expected but liked the design - the shape and colours used.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The price. My usual brand works out much cheaper.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I liked the fragrance - it was light and not at all artificial. I was sceptical of the cleaning power - I live in a hard water area and was prepared for it to fail ... it didn't. It cleaned really well. I did whites and colours washes and all came out clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Definitely would recommend to friends/relatives. It works, smells nice and is kind to the environment. It also looks nice and takes up much less room than the usual bottles/cartons of washing powder/liquid.

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 10:32:05

Looking on the Ocado app, there is a refill pouch - 85 washes for £14. I hope the pouch is fully leak proof when sealed as it clearly won't fit in one bottle!

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 10:35:15

Interestingly, the 85 wash refill works out at 16.5p per wash. Waitrose 30 wash powder works out at 18.3p

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really like the size of it, and the fact there is no mess or waste.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'd like it to smell a bit stronger.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I'd like it to be stronger smelling. So far, no complaints about the cleaning power.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. Although, I have no idea how much this would cost to buy, so that may put me off.

ethelb Sun 02-Dec-12 10:43:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Good size for my small kitchen

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would like to know what is it rin but everything is in French! I need to know as I am currently tryoing outdifferent laundry liquids due to v bad eczema, and need to be able to tell my GP what is in it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fine. Better than Ecover.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Not until I know what is in it.

EmpressOfTheNorthPole Sun 02-Dec-12 10:44:23

I had a look at a pouch, Soupy. They have screw on caps so should be fine.

insancerre Sun 02-Dec-12 10:52:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Very small, easy to use

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
make the bottle bigger

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
loved the smell- impressed by the cleaning power

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I am impressed by the smell and the cleaning results, and the fact that it is hypoallergenic (although DD's sensitive skin has not yet had a chance to test this out)

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed Sun 02-Dec-12 10:56:01

Marking place. Bottle arrived Friday. Full test as soon as there is space on the pulley, racks and radiators.

cafebistro Sun 02-Dec-12 11:00:59

What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Small and compact. Ideal for me as I sometimes go to the supermarket on the bus if DP is working so it would be easier/lighter to carry! The pump itself is fab - squirts precisely into the washer drawer so no mess.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It is quite pricey. Also the fragrance is barely there on the washed clothes and I do like a bit of fragrance but that's just personal preference.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance in the bottle is nice but after washing the clothes don't really smell of anything. The cleaning power of the liquid is good even on a whites wash.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend purely because it's so concentrated and therefore easier to carry when shopping.

thestylethatdecadesforgot Sun 02-Dec-12 11:01:14

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really like it. I've used it for the last year or so and buy the refill, which means the packaging is not thrown away. Although you do have to throw the refill packaging away, unfortunately! I love how small it is, taking up less space under the sink. My daughter (2.5) can squirt the pump Ito the washer drawer so she likes it!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I suppose only the price! I usually pay £6 and sometimes manage to get it on offer for £4 or £5. The refill is £14 but I have found it on offer for £10. I search My supermarket to find when it's on offer.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I love the fragrance. The other two fragrances are also lovely. It's a much more natural smell and I'm so used to it now that when I smell other washing liquid smells they are so strong and over powering I feel a bit queasy! Waning wise it's great. I use an Eco stain remover on stains but generally speaking anything that's not been allowed to set dry on clothes will come out using Method. Even newborn poo! Though the reusable nappies need some extra help.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it and I have to a few friends and relatives. I think most are put off by the price because it looks small.

I love Method stuff and I use their products all over the house. One thing I would like with regard to refills, now they are merged with Ecover is refill stations. That would save on packaging even more. I have never seen them but I understand Ecover has refill stations. If they could be in supermarkets for the washing liquid, washing up liquid and the sprays that would be great!

thestylethatdecadesforgot Sun 02-Dec-12 11:05:01

Oh and I forgot to add, I haven't cleaned my washing machine drawer for a while, having had another baby, and was worried it would be really bad. But having used Method exclusively for so long now, the drawer was fine, no build up, no residue set and hard to clean and no mould, which seems to stick to powder somehow.

Tigerbomb Sun 02-Dec-12 11:14:30

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Size was great and I love the pump action

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price! I want to be green but I can't always afford it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I loved the fragrence when sniffing the bottle but I couldn't smell it on the clean dried washing. The laundry smelt clean but not as good as the bottle

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes - I have already told my mother that it's great at cleaning but did say it was a bit pricey.

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 11:38:39

Persil 50 wash box powder is currently on offer at Ocado at 14p per wash. It is usually 24p per wash. Ariel 65 washes powder on offer at 15.4p per wash, usually 23p. Fairy 65 washes on offer at 16.9p, usually 26p.

The full priced Method refill isn't looking so expensive after all.

Elfontheedge Sun 02-Dec-12 12:10:26

First wash on. It's s jeans wash too so should be a good challenge!

MrsSJG Sun 02-Dec-12 12:19:48

First load on, hopefully it's good

am doing a load of washing, but for those who commented about a refill pouch option, I have seen them in Waitrose and Sainsbury's.

fairyfun Sun 02-Dec-12 12:22:56

Q1 - I love the compact bottle ideally does help when you have a lack of storage. Its hard to get your head around such a small amount can clean your clothes so well. I like the pump action so we have no spills. So overall I really like the product.

Q2 - it would be a preferred choice if the price was in line with similar brands.

Q3 - I would like it a little more fragrance, it smells a little sterile.

Q4 - I would tell family/ friends about the product due to how compact it is and the pump nozzle but the price would be the issue.

Elegantlywasted Sun 02-Dec-12 12:58:57

Q1 like the size of the bottle, if I had smaller children would store well out of their reach as appears not be childproof.

Q2. The price, Waitrose has the refill pouch on offer at the moment at £10.20, for 85 washes that's very good but still at full price supermarket own brands are better.

Q3. I have only done one load, nothing particularly grubby apart from a paint stained blouse. I did apply a small amount directly to it, added 5 squirts to the load and put it on a 30 c wash. I'm afraid the stain didn't budge, in fairness to Method it may need a stain devil type treatment but I have some towels to wash later so will add the blouse and wash at a higher temp. The smell does seem less chemical.

Q4. not sure yet, I want to do a couple of loads with sports kit to see how it deals with ingrained mud! If the cleaning power passes muster, I would recommend but with a warning about the price.

CharlotteBronteSaurus Sun 02-Dec-12 13:01:12

quick and scintillating update:
I spot-treated the stained polo shirt with a squirt of method, and rewashed. It is now clean. I am now more impressed grin

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 13:11:26

at full price supermarket own brands are better.

Waitrose washing powder isn't.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the compact packaging and the ease of dispensing the liquid.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It's a little highly scented for me in the bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the fragrance once the clothes are dry, it's really fresh, but i got some on my hand and despite washing it off the smell stayed on my hand for ages.

I am very impressed with the cleaning power, I used it to stain treat a oil stain on a favourite top of mine which other laundry products had failed to remove. One wash and the mark is gone and i am delighted. It also made my husbands uniform polo shirts which had gone a bit fusty under the arms smell better.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
yes i really would. i would say that it's compact, effective and easy to use.

Onetwothreeoops Sun 02-Dec-12 13:28:25

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

The size of the bottle is fab and absolutely love squirting straight into the machine rather than faffing with a little pot.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I am unclear whether additional fabric conditioner is necessary, if it is necessary then I would like to change that.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The fragrance seems quite strong but that is probably just because I'm not used to it. I actually like the smell, it made my kitchen/drying room smell very fresh.

The cleaning power is at least equal to my current laundry liquid.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I will have to reserve judgement on that one at the moment. The only reason I can think for having a conversation about laundry liquid is in relation to my dc's eczema. There has been no immediate reaction to the Method liquid which is good but it will take a while longer to rule out any reaction at all. If there are no flare-ups I will definitely be recommending this product.

Mine turned up on Friday, but I haven't done any washing in the last few days [slattern] Just about to go put a wash on, the bottle smells delicious. Same as Juno here, the bottle is in french. I'm hoping I've understood it correctly, if not, foam party at mine in 1 hour! grin

PoppyAmex Sun 02-Dec-12 13:33:16

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Lovely dinky bottle, very user friendly. I usually use Ecover and hate the fact that when you measure it half the product stays in the lid and everything gets gunky. Thought I'd have to buy a few bottles at a time, because 25 washes wouldn't last long in this house, but just checked and the refill does x85 washes, so I'm happy with that.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The fragrance (Fresh Air)

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I use a lot of Method products and love the fragrances (in fact, I'd sacrifice some cleaning power and price just for yummy smells) so was really looking forward to having lovely scented clothes. Was very disappointed with the Fresh Air fragrance, it just smelled "wrong" somehow - bit chemical, almost "pukey" smell blush. On the flipside, it's very mild and DH thought it smells great, so I guess it's a very personal thing.

Cleaning power: Really impressive. I did a 40C white load of baby clothes (pee ridden and food stained from Weaning) and it came out immaculate. It also got rid of tomato stains with no pre-treatment. DH's sports clothes also came out clean and soft.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would. It's eco-friendly, very practical, there's no waste of product and very effective. I would however prefer to try a different scent and might buy Peony next time.

PoppyAmex Sun 02-Dec-12 13:34:48

PS: Sorry to derail but just saw Method are doing a Christmas washing up liquid with Fir scent!

Xmas loveliness

Sparklingbrook Sun 02-Dec-12 13:56:06

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Really liked it, far less messy than scooping powder or measuring out liquid. Takes up less room in the cupboard.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? No, although I agree the price may be prohibitive.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Thought the fragrance was lovely, and not overpowering. It cleaned football shirts no problem, and dealt with food stains.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would recommend to friends.

FIFIBEBE Sun 02-Dec-12 13:57:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Loved the size of it, my undersink cupboard is bursting with cleaning products so it was nice to have something compact.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Perhaps more sizes, even double that sizepack would be compact in my opinion

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Very chemical, which I don't mind. Have done 4 washes so far and the dry clothes smell clean rather than "summer meadow" or whatever. cleaning power seems fine, have done a mixed coloured load and a white load. Not really too dirty so didn't really put it to the test.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend. At the end of the day it is just another cleaning product, but it is quirky and does the job.

pithy Sun 02-Dec-12 13:58:40

Q1 Overall impression.

Liked the neat, compact pump. Product cuts down on waste due to fewer spillages. More convenient than liquid pouches which are wasteful on light loads - a single squirt is enough for delicates which have to be washed separately.
Q2 Anything you would change?
The price. Too expensive for me.
Q3 Opinion on fragrance and cleaning.
Liked the fragrance. I left some clothes airing in one room of the house, it smelled lovely on return. Was pleasantly surprised with cleaning power. I cold wash a lot of items which are "dry clean only." On the advice of dry cleaner owner friend. Did this with black, designer, trousers and they were fine. Zero residue etc.
Q4 Would you recommend the product?
Yes. It is very easy to use when in a hurry, and has warm, floral top note fragrance on dry clothes.

Sparklingbrook Sun 02-Dec-12 13:59:25

Poppy if I go out and spend £3 on washing up liquid it will be all your fault. grin

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 14:00:18

I often think that fir or pine scented stuff smells like toilet cleaner.

Sparklingbrook Sun 02-Dec-12 14:01:12

That's v true Soup. Sometimes you get aftershaves with pine in and they are a bit toilet cleaner-esque.

It did a good job on a white wash, got the collar tide mark off school shirts!
Just tried it on black& white striped rugby kit (now that's a challenge!). It got the mud out of the top, and most of the mud out of the shorts, I've just spot cleaned the shorts with small squirts of method, and put it in for another wash. We'll see if that does the trick.
I usually soak the rugby kit overnight in oxy cleaner then wash it. If nothing else, the method saves me a night anyway.
I would like refills to be available, or the bottle to be tetrapak etc.
It smells nice enough, I don't mind if a bit gets on my hands, although it takes a lot of rinsing to get it off.

PoppyAmex Sun 02-Dec-12 14:42:33

Yes, but it's frosted fir so that's surely completely different, no? grin

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Compact & user friendly.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price, I can't justify spending this much on just getting our clothes cleaned.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fresh, not at all overpowering. I've tested it on a whites wash, a darks wash and it's come through with flying colours. I also washed my oily works overalls - they're spotless.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I've already told my friends that I'm testing this - would probably say that I really like it, but it's a tad too expensive (for me).

aftereight Sun 02-Dec-12 15:19:01

Q1 my first impression of the bottle is that it looked small and neat, and the product looks contemporary and good quality

Q2 I would probably make the pump dispenser larger, say 40 washes (sounds like a lot, would make me think it would last a good month). The liquid itself looks a bit meh - maybe a touch of colour in it to make it look more substantial/pretty? Also, should the dose be adjusted for hard/soft water as advised on some other washing liquids?

Q3 The smell was ok, very neutral. I dislike anything overly perfumed, but when I opened the washing machine to remove the wet washing, it didn't smell particularly clean. The whiff of wet dog did spring to mind! When dried though, the clothes did smell perfectly nice. Of clothes though, not freshly washed ones.
The cleaning power seemed good as it completely removed a large red wine stain from a cushion cover.

Q4 Not sure I will actively recommend to friends or family in the same wayI would other Method products, but I will mention it to the family member who is a laundry scientist at a large company beginning with U!

ChunkyPickle Sun 02-Dec-12 15:31:56

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Small and light, was worried that the pump would be awkward to use, but it was absolutely fine (easier than the mess I make filling up caps with liquid/cups with powder too). I like that it wasn't bright blue - that always seems a bit odd to me when I'm adding it to my whites. I quite like the size - it's easy to hold while you're pumping - I'm not sure that if it had much more liquid it would be very easy to hold and pump one-handed.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I can't think of anything right now, it seems pretty ideal really - the pump is my favourite bit.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance is fine (I skipped softener so I could see what it smelled like). Clearly there so my laundry smells like laundry, but not too strong, not too odd. Cleaning power is good, and the washing isn't as crispy once it's dry as it is with some of the powders I've tried.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, I think I would - that it was so small, light, and easy to carry home, and that the pump was a really good idea because it stops you spilling liquid out the lid and makes it easy to measure.

Nickles83 Sun 02-Dec-12 15:43:30

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I love the little bottle, it's great for saving space. It's been good so far even with the mucky kids clothes. I like the pump action bottle saves on pouring or filling up a cap.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The smell I really didn't like it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Hated it, had to use extra comfort as the clothes still smelt dirty. Was great as cleaning, got the stains out.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Most likely yes, as the cleaning side of it was fab :-)

cherriemayhem Sun 02-Dec-12 15:50:21

After testing the product on several loads of washing, here are my answers:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

A1: I loved the overall look, I couldn't believe how 25 washes could be contained within such a small sleek container. The pump action was brilliant.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A2: The price did put me off a bit, but it is possible to search around and buy it cheaper online.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

A3: The fragrance was a "clean" smell. I like that as I'm not keen on strong or flowery fragrances on washing. I washed a dark load containing a pair of trousers that had paint on and my eldest son's school trousers and sweatshirt. Everything came out clean. I also did a white wash at 40 degrees. The majority of the whites came out fine, although I had put in a t-shirt belonging to my toddler that had baked bean juice down the front and it didn't come out perfect, but to be fair, without adding a stain remover to the wash it wouldn't have come out any cleaner with my usual washing powder.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

A4: I would definitely recommend it. I usually use powder, but the box takes up too much room in the cupboard and its messy to measure out. I much prefer the pump action bottle and the fact it was so concentrated and in small bottle was fantastic. I would tell a friend that it has just as much cleaning power as a standard liquid or powder, but the beauty is that its a small container and an easy to use pump action bottle.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed Sun 02-Dec-12 16:22:14

Q1- my first impressions were that the bottle was neat, attractive and different. I liked it. I like the pump, it makes dispensing the liquid cleaner and straightforward.

Q2- no not really. The price is prohibitive for me but I guess that is a reflection of the production costs.

Q3- I thought the fragrance was nice, slightly of the sea, fresh and not obtrusive or headache inducing. The cleaning power seems pretty much the same as my usual liquid which is to say that generally most things came out clean but some stains remained (hot chocolate I think)

Q4- if the qualities of different washing brands came up then I would say it was worth trying. If someone wanted a recommendation for a brand which was Eco friendly and worked then I would do so whole heartedly.

hk78 Sun 02-Dec-12 16:34:53

Mine arrived at the end of the week and I've done 3 loads with it so far.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the neat little size and shape, and am impressed that it contains 25 washes.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would change the smell, as below.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Personally I prefer a more traditional washing powder ish smell. Cleaning power: Yes it has done a thorough wash, although I did add some Vanish into the whites wash (habit)

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Well it's not something I would really think of talking about, however if someone else brought the subject up then yes, I would recommend it for those who like alternative eco-friendly products.

noddyholder Sun 02-Dec-12 16:38:36

1.It looks 'new' and modern although the thin texture made me think it wouldn't be man enough for the job (as it were)
2.Thicker maybe?
3.I love the smell it has a traditional laundry smell that is a bit retro and reminded me of the smell in our house as a child
4.I would recommend they try it but I am not sure it is that economical and I think most people are a bit set in their ways with laundry!

longlady16 Sun 02-Dec-12 16:47:59

Just about to try this, first impressions are that I like the packaging. The compactness of design is great-doesn't take up a lot of room in the cupboard. Got the "fresh" scent and it does smell light and fresh. Worried if can clean as well as usual brand. Will report back

MousyMouse Sun 02-Dec-12 17:11:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the sleek small design of the bottle. practical and stacks well in the cupboard. very easy to use. more information would have been nice (eg. colour detergent available, refill packs)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
maybe making it less foamy? the price seems alright and in line with other eco detergents if you look at the price-per-wash.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I love the fragance, very subtle and goes well with my favourite softener.
cleaning power is good, at least not worse than the detergent that I usually use. it got the towel that we use as a mud-rug in the hall nice and clean. the load of uniforms came out nice and clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
yes, would recommend as alternative, esp to other mums who are looking for less harsh detergents that actually work.

meala Sun 02-Dec-12 17:17:50

Still not arrived here yet!

upinthehills Sun 02-Dec-12 17:21:13

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice bottle but as it is very substantial, will feel bad about throwing it out when it is finished.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The smell - I really don't like it - it smells very chemically and I think it is one thing that would make me not buy it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it, and, for a premium product I think I would have to love it!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? As before I don't like it. Cleaning wise it seems comparable to normal liquid - not had any tough stains to try it on yet.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Not sure I would - have googled the price and it is at least double the price of what I currently buy (Aldi or Lidl). i know it is more eco, but is just doesn't smell like it is as, to me, it smells of chemicals. If it was gorgeous I might pay the extra - shallow I am!

somethingscary Sun 02-Dec-12 17:52:38

Posting on my phone so can't cut & paste the questions.

I quite liked it - I like most Method products (except the silly washing up liquid in pump bottle). Nice smell, seems to do the job, but may be too expensive for every day use. Will probably save it for things I think regular powder may be too harsh on. Thanks for the opportunity to try it.

Elegantlywasted Sun 02-Dec-12 17:57:52

Update on paint on school blouse, applied more directly and put in a 60c wash with towels, has definitely faded but not gone, think a stain devil may be needed, can't say that any other product will have done any better.
Towels smell lovely though!

JustFabulous Sun 02-Dec-12 18:08:11

Thank you Empress.

There is no way I will get 25 washes out of it if I have to use 7 squirts per wash.

turkeyboots Sun 02-Dec-12 18:10:20

Q1 - overall impression was good (although the French instructions were confusing!). Like that it doesn't drip over the cupboard!

Q2 - find the squirting action a bit of a pain. Over shot the washing machine drawer a few times. Also pricey compared to my usual bottle.

Q3 - liked the fragrance and felt cleaning power was good. While I struggled to squirt into washing machine, found squirting as a pre treatment was great. Got out dried on school dinner stains from white school shirts which is my test.

Q4 - I would recommend it if it ever cropped up. I liked it, but sadly beyond what I'd normally be willing to spend on for washing liquid.

FOURBOYSUNDER6 Sun 02-Dec-12 18:15:18

Find a squirt 5 or 6 not 4..... But then again I do cram the washer full!!!! Wish they did a fabric softener to match

FOURBOYSUNDER6 Sun 02-Dec-12 18:18:47

1 liked
2 no
3 liked
4 maybe but not as good as other gorgeous method products

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed Sun 02-Dec-12 18:25:43

I have concluded that the smell though made out to be amazing is actually quite blah and I can get a nice smell, the same cleaning power and cheaper elsewhere.
Will be decanting ordinary liquid into the bottle though, it's great.

ValentineWiggins Sun 02-Dec-12 18:28:47

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Nice and easy - although I need to get past the "bigger is better" MINDSET!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Price!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Wet laundry didn't smell "clean" (ie didn't smell of perfume/cleaning powder) - dry smells fine.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I'd probably say it was interesting to use but too expensive for everyday!

Kewcumber Sun 02-Dec-12 18:33:27

First wash on now

1 - I liked the packaging
2 - doesn;t seem that foamy to me - I used 5 pumps for an average white load in a very ahrd water area. Maybe if its very foamy you're using too much?

starlight36 Sun 02-Dec-12 18:41:16

After a busy weekend's worth of washing I've definitely put the Method liquid to the test!

1. The packaging is definitely compact and design is bright and a bit different from their competitors. Like the pump style. My mistake entirely but tried to put the pump back down and ended up wasting some liquid. It might be better if there was a way of switching the pump off (maybe there is and I haven't discovered it?) as will need to keep away from DD who is more than capable of pressing pumps.

2.Would only improve the pump as above. Product itself very good. Like other testers would be pleased if it was on offer or if refills are available to buy which would make it cheaper to continue to use.

3.Fragrance is good and cleaning power impressive for such a small amount of product. A very dirty cream teddy which had literally been dragged through the mud came out bright and clean. I also used some product neat on some particularly stained clothes and got good results. Like the multi-function of liquid as currently use another branded eco liquid with their stain remover for tougher stains.

4. Yes I would recommend the product to others.

mummysmellsofsick Sun 02-Dec-12 18:56:25

My first impression for a company with Eco credentials was that my sample arrived in a rather large cardboard box filled with polystyrene- hardly an Eco friendly option. Given that the bottle itself is sturdy plastic I couldn't see the need for this much packaging. I do like to think that companies that trade on their Eco credentials follow this through to all levels behind the scenes so the use of polystyrene here bothered me...

So now onto the product:

I found the fragrance fresh and clean and not too chemical smelling. I started with a 40 dark wash and it did better than my usual Ecover liquid at lifting smells. I won't go into why this is important to us but I was really pleased with the cleaning power on this wash. It doesn't just mask smells it really washes them away.

My next wash was my shower curtain which was starting to go orange with soap scum etc. It did a fantastic job here at 60 degrees and left the curtain as new.

Next my husband's white shirts all covered in cooking stains- tomato, turmeric etc... It made an extremely good job of them, all stains shifted at 60 degrees except a couple of stubborn old ones that prob need specialist products.

Lastly the nappy wash. This was absolutely great and left the nappies fresh and fragrant. I used only 2 pumps rather than 4 and washed on 60.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like it and will buy it

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I adore the smell of Ecover (my usual) and while the Method fragrance was good, it wasn't quite as nice

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance fresh and clean smelling, cleaning power very impressive.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would (and will) definitely recommend it. It is gentle on sensitive skins and effective on stains and smells. I like being able to measure out 4 pumps per wash, and that it doesn't take up much room in the cupboard. I will buy it again.

TheMouseDancing Sun 02-Dec-12 19:01:44

Here's my feedback:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I have so far done two washes with this. I am very happy with it. It has washed my clothes well. I washed dd's clothes with it using 6 pumps as they get quite soiled with food etc and most stains washed out well, there were a few stains remaining that I probably should have pre-treated but nothing more that my usual washing powder.
I also like that the bottle is compact and so doesn't take up much room and also that I only have to put a few pumps into the drawer.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I always buy non-bio and tend to buy the one that is on offer/the cheapest, so if anything I would say maybe reduce the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I though the smell was nice, and quite subtle. It cleaned my clothes well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend this product, I am happy that it is eco friendly and does not irritate my skin.

preety18 Sun 02-Dec-12 19:41:45

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Like the bottle with the squirt which makes life easier as no need to measure the quantity needed. It's small and practical.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Yes by adding a closing options on the squirting device.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
It smells nice and fresh just right amount of fragrance.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes would recommend if it is on offer.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It is great, small enough to tuck on a shelf and I get a little worktop back in the laundry. The pump makes it even too difficult for my overenthusiastic DH from adding far too much to the washing.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? No, I really like the bottle a refill would be nice but I like the small bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Smell is great not too strong and keeps fresh smell even after the clothes have been washed. It cleans amazingly got grape juice vomit out of white sheets at 50 degrees and school pasta sauce out of a polo shirt 3 days after it was spilt on! But the biggest bonus is it has not affected DD's skin at all, I washed a couple of her vests and a babygro in the first wash and she wore a vest today and no vest shaped rash (which is normal for some powders) Will see how she goes tonight in her babygro

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? DH has become the voice of method over the last few day, just mention washing/clothes to him and he lets them all know how brilliant it is. We will definitely buy more.

SoupDragon Sun 02-Dec-12 20:08:12

mummysmellsofsick the packing wasn't polystyrene!

moogdroog Sun 02-Dec-12 20:11:40

mummysmellsofsick it's not polystyrene. The bits are made from corn starch or something. You can compost them, dissolve them in water, or better still, give them to the dcs to craft with. Wet them very slightly to stick them together to make stuff! My cat on the other hand, rather enjoys eating them
I'm always very pleased when I get them in a package!

SantasBlotto Sun 02-Dec-12 20:21:14

I thought they were polystyrene too. Dammit, if I'd have known I would have composted them, rather than put them in the bin.

Sparklingbrook Sun 02-Dec-12 20:21:47

DS2 has been dissolving them in water Santas.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I liked the size and the pump was easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Make it available in larger sizes or refillable like ecover.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I quite like the smell - wasn't overpowering

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I probably would recomend it .

Bigspring Sun 02-Dec-12 20:24:38

Have done three loads now, not impressed!
The packaging is smart, except in French! I liked the idea of the squirt pump and it does mean cleaner more efficient use of product. Didn't have much of a scent and wasn't convinced that the liquid produced would clean the clothes
Have done some research online and method products are quite pricey so would say the price is something would change!
Scent- didn't notice there was one! I like my clothes to smell clean and fresh and I could only really smell wet clothes the first time so used fabric conditioner second time so that they would smell fresh!
It did clean the clothes but not as well as if I had used any other washing detergent!
I would not recommend method laundry detergent as apart from the pump action bottle there is nothing I like about it and can buy cheaper products which work better!

SantasBlotto Sun 02-Dec-12 20:26:14

It's meeeeee, Sparkling, Pinot smile

bluebump Sun 02-Dec-12 20:28:05

Q1 I really liked the look of the packaging, liked the pump and it seemed to hold a lot of product in such a small package.

Q2 Only the price would put me off buying it, i'd stock up if I saw it on offer somewhere.

Q3 I did quite a big load on a short/quick wash and everything came up really clean so I'm quite happy with it. I only used 4 pumps too.

Q4 I'd happily recommend it, it smells nice and the packaging is good and more importantly it works!

I liked it enough to have a browse on the Method website and i'm interested in buying some of the other products if I see them in store now.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I was surprised how small the bottle is. I was suspicious that it might be 25 hand washes, or something, but no 300/12 = 25 4 pump washes. I'm using 5 pumps, though, since I have a 7kg washer and hard water.

The pump itself can sometimes be a bit eager. If I'm pumping into the detergent dispenser, it's easy to, erm, overshoot blush. I was worried that it might be a bit tricky to use, since I have mobility and strength problems with my hands, but it pumps really smoothly with little effort.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It seems OK. I might have missed it, since the packaging is in French, but it doesn't make it clear if the bottle is for colours or whites, though. I usually buy detergent for colours and only the odd bottle for whites.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance is lovely - not at all overpowering. It doesn't leave the laundry smelling too soapy, either. I've not tested anything really filthy with it, but I've not felt the need to wash anything again because it didn't come clean. DH managed to spill half a glass of wine on us both the other night (yes, really) and I chucked the clothes plus a few other things in an overnight wash and there's no stains on them.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would need to use it for longer to see how nice clothes stayed if I used it all the time, but I would recommend it for travelling, for definite.

I love method products anyway, especially in the kitchen, so my expectations of this product were quite high.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It is very compact, easy to store and looks fab. Love the pump action, much easier than cups and less mess. Although £6 for the original 25 wash packed seems a bit pricey, the refill is equal (cost per wash) to my normal brand.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I think that although the pump is great, it could do with some kind of child-proof locking system.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the smell, has a nice subtle 'clean laundry' smell, I personally don't like overpowering fragrances. I've done 4 loads so far, including DHs work clothes and the DCs riding clothes, large loads in a had water area, and they all came out clean. It didn't managed to get the tea stains out the tea towels, but not much does.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think I would recommend it, especially to my Sil. Her DCs and my own have very sensitive skin, and we only have 2 brands that they can safely use without reaction. I have washed the kids clothes and bedding and they had no reaction so far!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It was smaller than I expected - after digging it out of that huge box and sufficient packaging for a tea set! It looks quite subtle and pretty, not brash design like some household cleaning products.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No, but I would have to know the price - it would have to compete with my usual washing tablets, especially as I only use half the recommended amount of those to save money! If it could be refilled fairly cheaply, that would be good.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I like the smell, the laundry is making my kitchen smell really fresh as it dries! It seems to clean the clothes very well, although the toddler training pants still smell a bit like wee. (First load I used 4 squirts of liquid, second load 6 but no difference)

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

If anyone noticed it in my house, I would say I liked it, that it smelled nice, worked well and was less bulky than a box full of tablets. Most of the dull household-related conversations I have with my friends revolve around saving money though, so it would depend how much it sold for.

Haberdashery Sun 02-Dec-12 21:14:45

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the small and convenient packaging. It's easy to use. I am pleased that it's light and easy to carry as I find carting washing powder home quite difficult if I need to do a big shop as I don't drive.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I really dislike the smell. Mine is called something or other Air (the blue one) and I hate it. But it smells worse on the wet laundry than when it's dry and I can tolerate it once the washing is dry. To be fair, I would probably like the pink Peony one more as I like flowery smells and I was delighted to discover that there's an unscented one. I will definitely try that. I was really surprised to dislike the smell as one of the things I like best about the rest of your range is the lovely fragrances! Would you consider a citrussy smell or something else a bit less obvious than blue air and pink flowers?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance covered above. Cleaning power absolutely fine. It worked well on our usual stuff including children's clothes. Nobody has been itchy or sneezed or had gritty eyes, which is nice as we are all a bit sensitive to washing powder and similar things. I haven't had cause to try it as a stain remover but definitely like the idea of doing that rather than buying a separate product so will be trying that out when I can.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
If it came up in conversation I would probably recommend it. I would mention the blue fragrance negatively, though!

MerryMarigold Sun 02-Dec-12 21:41:45

I thought the 'blue fragrance' was very citrussy! And made a big change from most washing powders, more like adding essential oils to unscented products.

ISeeSmallPeople Sun 02-Dec-12 21:45:26

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Small! and good.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

If it could dry & put the washing away it would be perfect.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance was subtle, but lovely. Cleaning was brilliant, even on difficult random child stains,

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Oh yes. They already know me as the mad almond floor cleaner enthusiast. I'm giving the rest of my bottle to my dad, he only uses ecorevyowable stuff & will love it,

What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
The packaging looks cheap, I was surprised to find out it cost £6 a bottle. I did like the compact design though.
Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would make it smell nicer and make it more effective.
What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I found the fragrance weak and the cleaning power poor.
If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? No, I think it is pretty rubbish! I will use it up on lightly soiled loads, but I won't be buying any more.

ISeeSmallPeople Sun 02-Dec-12 21:46:22

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It was OK. Nothing special.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A nicer fragrance would have been good.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
No fragrance at all. Cleaning power was as good as any I have tried,

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I quite like the pump action as it was already measured out for me. If it was on offer I would buy it.

First wash complete! So far....

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It takes up far less space on my shelf and the pump works so well- i love its simplicity!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Nothing although the instructions indicate 4 pumps which is a bit confusing so perhaps just the instructions? Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love the smell. Very pleasant and clean. Got a wide variety of items clean. Brilliant!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes!!!! I have done 7washes now from bedding to sports stuff. All clean and sooo easy! Environmentally friendly and it seems very effective!

Belmo Sun 02-Dec-12 22:06:48

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Really like it. It looks nice and is really easy to use. And most importantly Dd's skin is fine with it (house full of sensitive eczema ridden people!)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No I don't think so. The price is the only issue for me, we are on a very very tight budget at the moment, so although I don't think the price is outrageous I'm not sure we can afford it. If it wasn't for that I'd definately switch to method.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love the fragrance. Due to sensitive skin I usually use a v small amount of non bio and can't smell anything. This smells fresh but not overpowering.
Cleaning power also fab! I've done 2 normal loads and a nappy wash which was the big test - all nice and clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Definately. Love the smell, cleans well, good for sensitive skin and the environment - perfect, but a wee bit pricey!

FrillyMilly Sun 02-Dec-12 22:15:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was quite impressed that something so small could so 25 washes. I'm unlikely to be converted though as I currently buy aldi washing powder for a lot less. I get the impression Method is more of a premium brand.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The smell.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I didn't like the smell. It wasn't overpowering just really odd. Cleaned the clothes well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I suppose I would if it came up. I would say its compact and cleans clothes. I don't think I would be going out of my way to recommend it though.

theodora Sun 02-Dec-12 22:19:52

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the small bottle - it fits on my small laundry shelves. i really like the pump action - it is very quick and easy to use with no extra packaging to throw away unlike tablet thingies.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I've only done a few washes and it seems to have done the job so far. I haven't washed any clothes with major stains so will be interested to see how it copes when I do.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Cleaning power seems good so far, but I haven't tried it with any serious stains. I like the fragrance because it is subtle and not over powering. I don't like big artificial cleaning smells!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, in terms of its eco-credentials and cleaning power, but would need to know the price before I bought it again.

I generally use half the recommended dose with my usual cleaning products in order to save money - the clothes still get clean, so I might try using half the number of squirts of Method and see if it still gets things clean.

Bonkerz Sun 02-Dec-12 22:23:43

Have now done 3 loads of washing with this liquid.

Can't remember the Qs and am on phone so can't copy paste etc but will give feedback.

Loved the small size. Wasn't certain it would be any good but was very impressed. Have used 5 squirts per wash as have a large machine and dirty kids!!!! I deliberately didn't use any conditioner and was pleasantly surprised by the smell! It smelt clean!!!!!!

I did wash DHs very stinky slippers but the foot smell was still there so have had to re wash with fabric conditioner but that was a massive challenge confusedconfusedconfusedconfused

I would defo recommend this product although I'm not sure on price point.

Lent1l Sun 02-Dec-12 22:26:47

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the smell of my clothes after using it. After a week of several "nappy mishaps" it seemed to cope well and all of my daughter's clothes have come out nice and clean, even using just 4 squirts in a wash load.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Only the price! i loked on the website and even with the large refill pack it does seem expensive when comapred with other similar products.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
As I said, it was a bad week for our LOs clothes but all came out ncie and clean so think it worked well for that. I will admit I did add fabric softener as I often do so it was more out of habit. Together the clothes came out smelling lovely.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I'd certainly mention I'd tried it and found it to be good, but I think common availability and price would put a few people off.

VainViolet Sun 02-Dec-12 22:28:34

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
compact, different, exciting, couldn't wait to try it out!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
English instructions. Price needs to be lower,

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
loved the fragrance, 4 mucky kids, 1 with severe eczema so worried if he would be ok ut so far so good! clothes and bedding all cleaned up well.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend this product, the size is great, I like using liquid rather than powder. I do at least 2 loads of washing a day, 1 child has extremely sensitive skin and I have to be very careful about laundry products but impressed no bad reactions.smile

Apols for slight discrepancy in my post above re no of washes- I copied an pasted questions from a previous poster but put in my own answers and missed the very initial comment.

costumequeen Sun 02-Dec-12 23:10:20

I really liked this- I found the small bottle and pump really convenient, and would certainly be a lot easier carrying it back from the shops. I used 4 pumps per wash, without fab con, and despite a week of d&v in our house (lovely) it really rose to the challenge and everything is clean and fresh, including the cloth nappies. I loved the scent and it's not too overpowering or artificial. I was sceptical about how well it would work with so little liquid being used, and I must admit I have often found eco brands to be less effective in the past - I was happy to be proved wrong here! I've not noticed method products before, but I will definitely keep an eye out, although I suspect they may be at the pricier end of the scale. Would happily reccomend the liquid to others though!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Love the design of it, easy to use. Hope instructions will come in English for UK buyers!
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? It's quite expensive compared to other brands, but will see how many washes I get out of one bottle...
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I didn't really like the 'neat' fragrance but the washing came out of the machine smelling nice. The clothes all looked clean, including tops with baked beans smeared all over.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I think I would. So far so good!

Thank you for letting me try it Method.

MsInterpret Sun 02-Dec-12 23:13:28

Really like the smell, clothes have come out clean & soft. Like the ecologically friendliness. Thumbs up!

Will come back to do Qs properly when less t-I-r-e-d... wink

FlappingToad Sun 02-Dec-12 23:15:10

It is fantastic for removing reptile poo from silk ivy. One pump.

Am now soaking a pure wool jumper overnight, also 1 pump. Have added lavender oil to change the scent.

MousyMouse Sun 02-Dec-12 23:19:55

flapping it's bio detetgent so it might eat your wool jumper and leave it with holes...

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the size, very easy to hold in one hand while pumping directly onto stains. Looks nice too. Impressed that so many doses fit in such a small bottle.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Only issue I had was when trying to get a small amount out onto stains, the liquid came out quite strongly, so a bit difficult to control the amount. This left me with a LOT of suds in the first wash. Probably just need a bit more practice with it though.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance is nice.
VERY impressed with the stain removal. It took off poster paint that even with large amounts of stain remover/scrubbing don't usually shift. I squirted the liquid on, popped it in without any rubbing in and came out completely clean without any trace of paint.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it. The cleaning power is incredible. If the cost is a bit high, I think I would probably still purchase it for the more soiled/stained items.
Very impressed all round!

Here are some first impressions, only used it for the first 2 washes today!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I too loved the small size, it would be easier to fit in a cupboard than big bottles but without having to buy it more often. It also looked quite sweet and was easier to pick up and less likely to be dropped (especially when the bottles get dribbly and slippery). I also liked the squirting thing, much less messy than having to pour into a bottle lid or measuring thing, less risk of spillage and no sticky dribbles down the side of the bottle which I hate. You could probably do it one-handed if necessary too. Impressed at the small amount you have to put into the machine.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? So far, only the price probably.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Have to admit I didn't notice the fragrance much, it wasn't that strong which is fine by me especially when using it with fabric conditioner anyway. It seemed to clean pretty well, I had one very dirty item which I would normally have added some stain remover for, but decided not to, to test the Method on it. It didn't come out totally clean but I didn't really expect it to (it was really VERY dirty) but it did come out quite well considering how black it was before, I would say as good as with my normal detergent or possibly slightly better.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would definitely say good things about it, especially about the convenience of the bottle and the eco benefits, but whether I would actually recommend buying it would depend on the price and the budget of the person I was talking to.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It's small and compact, liked the look of it. The pump action is good but quite strong, when i first used it I managed to miss the drawer and squirt it on the floor! It's also great for my daughters sensitive skin, which has in the past been irritated by some washing detergents.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Yes, I would maybe give it a bit more fragrance as it isn't very noticeable, also to make it a stronger cleaning detergent. Though I do understand it may not be great for people with sensitive skin

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is barely noticeable, the clothes smelt clean, but i like clothes to smell fresh too. I didn't use fabric softener in the first wash but used it in the second. The first load of washing came out clean but not as bright or white compared to my usual detergent. The second load was dark coloured clothes and it was fine, so would probably use it on coloured clothes.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend Method Laundry Liquid on the basis that it is a good detergent but i would advise them to use it on dark coloured clothes and not whites.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

- good, the main thing is i really like the small, compact size. more convenient to store

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

- nothing so far

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

- fragrance nice, not too strong. clothes came out clean so that seems fine. i did put 6 pumps in to make sure. will try it out with 4 pumps but i tend to put quite big load in so didnt want it to come out only half clean, so thought best be safe & do the 6

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

- depends on price but if the price is good then yes cos the format is really handy

Devora Mon 03-Dec-12 00:46:36

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked it. I liked the compact size, the easy application, the scent and the cleaning power.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The only thing is that I can't buy Method locally, despite living in a VERY naice part of SW London. This makes me very sad

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
It smelled really nice, and I definitely noticed how well it cleaned two duvet covers coated in toddler vomit...

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it, yes. I'd say that Method is a great range, and that this product is very compact and very easy to add to your wash, that it smells nice and has good cleaning power.

Cejay8 Mon 03-Dec-12 08:31:05

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the different style pump, it's nice and easy to store and there are no caps to fill and get lost!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A refill version would be great and bigger sized bottles.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance is OK, nice and subtle. It cleans as well as my usual non bio products which actually surprised me.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it depending on the price as it cleans well and is really easy and convenient to use and store.

Mines hasn't arrived yet. Can someone please tell me how theirs was delivered?

Ups have tried to deliver something here twice, last time Friday. I got in from work and logged onto the website to change the delivery address to my work, where there is someone in, and although it said on the card I could do it, it wouldn't let me.

Apparently they are trying to deliver again today but there won't be anyone in later afternoon.

startwig1982 Mon 03-Dec-12 08:38:21

Q1
I like the size and convenience of the bottle. As others have said, a refill would be a good idea even though the plastic is recyclable.
Q2
I did find it very runny. Clearly it's meant to be a liquid, but it started running out of the drawer before I had a chance to shut it! I'm sure this doesn't affect it's performance though.
Q3
It smelt pretty nice in the bottle. My washing isn't dry yet(no dryer and weather far too cold), so I'm not sure how the clothes will smell when dry. However, they didn't seem to smell of much at all when wet, so I'm hoping they'll smell fresh and clean when dry.
Q4
I would as long as it's not too pricy and leaves a fresh smell.

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents Mon 03-Dec-12 09:29:57

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Good. Love the bottle size, like the eco friendliness. Like that it's not tested on animals. I couldn't see a 'madein' on my bottle - have heard rumours before that Method is made in the US and shipped, which would cancel out some of the eco-credentials. Not sure if that's the case?

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The bottle is ace - pump works and great size. I agree a refill would be good.
I've not been to check out the price recently - I can usually only afford to stock up on Method when th offers are on.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Cleaning power so far seems fine, I am trying a second attempt at a whites wash today. Scent is very light. I am torn on that - half of me likes the idea that it has fewer chemicals and I dry outside so am mindful that very strong scents are harmful to pollinating insects. But I do like a nice smell.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. But it's expensive, I'd feel bad if they hated it grin. Could you work out a scheme where we give a friend's email and they are sent a voucher for money off?

ingridmouse Mon 03-Dec-12 09:47:06

1.Well, I must admit that the tiny bottle, and minuscule amount in the detergent drawer did not fill me with confidence, but I have been proven wrong before, and dagnammit, it has happened again. This stuff packs a formidable punch! smile

2.I think it would be useful if it came in a larger bottle, as I am used to storing that volume of detergent, so there is room for it - but I suspect that the pricetag might then scare off potential buyers before they read the number of washloads that they would get for their pennies....

3.The scent is fresh, but not overpowering, so there's no danger of it "clashing" with any perfume that I am wearing - or making my DH complain that he smells like a boudoir. So far I have used it on white school shirts, and they have come up a treat - lovely and soft too, despite me avoiding fabric softener - although the aftermath of a nosebleed didn't entirely disappear sad

4.Having said that, there are always going to be tricky stains and stuff, that even the evil overlords of laundry detergents (Ariel/Persil etc) find challenging - so I wouldn't say that Method's shortcomings have put me off buying it. I think the bottle/dispenser is funky and easy to use. I like that it is super-concentrated as I feel less guilty about its carbon-footprint, and it seems to work well at 30 degrees - which is more than can be said for a number of liquids. It gets a thumbs up from me!!

Cyclebump Mon 03-Dec-12 09:55:22

I'm starting to use mine today (have killer cold so no housework on the weekend), am loving the dinkiness though. I currently have a massive box of powder in the kitchen and it takes up loads of space!

Jins Mon 03-Dec-12 09:57:06

I've now done three washes with this. A challenging white wash, a light coloured wash and a denim etc wash

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It ticked all the boxes for me. It's compact, strong, not too high so it fits on a shelf in my cupboard and it was easy to get into and get it working. I like the way that it can be used for hand washing and pretreating as well although I haven't tried it. I think this is going to be perfect for our longer caravan holidays as well as it's so light and compact.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The fragrance was a bit bland. I'd like a few alternatives that left a stronger fragrance. Otherwise I'd leave it exactly as it is.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was OK but not necessarily one I'd choose. There was very little fragrance left once the clothes were dry but they did smell clean. There's a good reason for that - they were clean, very clean. I don't often rave about products but OMG this does what it says it will do. I had a fantastic range of stains to test it on including ink, mud, blood and the best one was probably the shirt my DH chose to wear to clean out the chicken shed. 4 pumps and it was gone. Seriously impressed. I'd normally be pretreating everything that went in the drum on this wash and there was absolutely no need to. If I was very picky there's a hint of ink left on DS2s school shirt but not enough to rewash it.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
It will be coming up in conversation smile I'm really impressed with this product. I've already recommended it to MIL who struggles with heavy items due to a disability. I will be emphasising its effectiveness rather than its environmental credentials as most of my contacts have been seriously underwhelmed by other eco friendly products (that's you Ecover!).

Thank you very much for letting me test this. I'm absolutely converted! Even the price hasn't put me off as I see it on offer fairly frequently. I do agree that refill pasks should be more readily available - don't think I've ever seen one.

theboutiquemummy Mon 03-Dec-12 10:00:38

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked the look of it and it was small so it didn't take up too much room. Quite funky looking aswell and easy to use one handed once opened, was unsure if id used enough because the liquid looked so little.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It was a bit tough to open but once opened it was fine maybe the price but other then that no.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I used it to wash high thread count bed linen and was very surprised 6 pumps got out a blood spot and the fragrance was nice. It was also gentle so no irritants which I liked.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it because it has the cleaning power which is always the danger when switching from a regular product and it can be a lot of money making the switch to a whole new cleaning regime. Loved the feel good factor it has to be said will definitely be using it again.

Babycarmen Mon 03-Dec-12 10:11:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
The size is great, It fits easily on my shelf under the sink and is not too heavy or bulky. I love the pump, It makes it so easy to know how much liquid you need to use and there is no mess when you're trying to pour and measure at the same time! I also love how concentrated it is and how well it cleans for such little liquid!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Nothing major, maybe lower the price so its more competitive with other brands, and maybe make the packaging a little more eye catching.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was nice and not too over powering. It smelt natural and clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes definitely! Mainly because I am so impressed with how well it cleans for an eco friendly product!

trikken Mon 03-Dec-12 10:16:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I was very impressed with it, it exceeded my expectations. the actual pump was brilliant and loved the size as its so small conpared to the bix box of powder I normally have.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

nothing, it did the job it was supposed to.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The smell is nice, fresh and not too strong, it had a lovely smell after taking the laundry out of the tumble dryer.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I definitely would recommend it. it did a brilliant job removing the permenant pen from ds's school jumper and got dh's work shirts really clean so I was very impressed and I did love the pump as its so easy to use and mess free.

SciFiFan Mon 03-Dec-12 10:17:42

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Quite intrigued by such a different concept. Love the size and the simplicity of it.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'm assuming you can buy different sized bottles. Obviously would prefer the writing on the bottle to be in English and to know more about it's eco-friendly credentials.
Looked up some prices on Amazon and it could do with being a bit more competitvely priced. It's convenient but I'm not prepared to pay extra just for convenience.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
So far so good. Have done a whites and a coloureds wash and both have come out OK. The smell is quite neutral. My son has sensitive skin though so I'm keen to see whether or not it's aggravated by this washing liquid.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would definately mention it as it's quite different. Probably would recommend it.

formerpank Mon 03-Dec-12 10:32:34

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Quite funky packaging with clean graphics and a nice chunky pump that won't clog. At the end of the day it's a bottle of washing detergent so I can't really get that excited about overall impressions. I guess it's about the same size as you'd expect from another liquid detergent for that quantity of washes. If that's the normal size it won't last long so I presume there would be refill pouches or something? It would probably be quite annoying to have to refill that often so a larger bottle might be more practical provided this doesn't impact on environmental credentials.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It did feel quite harsh on my hands after doing the spot treatments (I'm very sensitive to all detergents so was hoping the plant power wouldn't do the usual, but it did :-( I was also a bit concerned about the dire warnings about not getting it in the eyes, but this could just have been my poor French translation making it sound worse! This triggered a long conversation with DH about the difference between bio and non-bio with the outcome that we didn't really know where Method fell in that.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really like the fragance, it's nicer than Persil but not as lovely as Fairy (which I adore but the cleaning power is rubbish). It's stronger than I expected for an environmentally friendly product.

The cleaning power...don't get me started, my DH said I sounded like a crazed 1950s housewife admiring my washing after the first load. I used 5 pumps (with a couple of spot treatments too) on a very large basket of weaning laundry whites (babygros, terries, bibs, muslins) washed at a very environmentally unfriendly 60 degrees with a spoon of napisan and the usual fabric softener (as per instructions). I squirted it into the (leading detergent brand) cap thing that goes straight in the drum along with the napisan. Bar a few elderly carrot(?) stains it got everything out...a giant dubious broccoli poo, blueberry, 50 shades of orange vegetables, a 3 day old giant dry tea stain on a white vest (don't judge, it was a terrifying incident that I wanted to expunge from my memory as well as the vest...) Bibs came out sparkling white and soft, muslins whiter than they've been in 6 months. I couldn't be more impressed with the cleaning power considering that I was highly doubtful about whether it would be up to the job.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, on the proviso that I have no idea of the price point but am presuming that it's significantly more expensive than the leading (evil multinational polluting) brands and other eco products as previous posters have mentioned. Combined environmental credentials and a product that actually does the job can't really be wrong (at the right price point!)

EwanHoHoHozami Mon 03-Dec-12 10:45:21

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the sleek design and the smooth action of the pump. I was surprised that such a small bottle could cover 25 washes. I had my doubts from the outset that something so insubstantial could cope with the grot created by two small children and I was unfortunately proved right.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I don't know if I'm being daft (or that the French was beyond me) but there doesn't seem to be an indication of whether it's bio or non-bio on the packaging. I love the minimal packaging design of the other Method products, especially the clear 'teardrop' style of the handwashes and it seems a shame that this doesn't fit in with that. I assume this is because of the large amount of copy needed to fit on though.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The fragrance seems modern and light and fits in well with other products in the Method range (of which I'm a big fan!). The cleaning power was actually rather disappointing. Four squirts didn't thoroughly clean a medium-soiled coloured wash and even six squirts didn't get close to removing the stains from a load of reusable nappies.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

If I had a friend who was short on storage space, was quite well-off and didn't have children I'd suggest they tried it for the compactness and fragrance. Otherwise, for the cost it just isn't effective enough for a family with small grimy kids.

pennylovesleonard Mon 03-Dec-12 10:52:08

Just been to the post office to collect mine! ( in thr pouring rain!)
Love the spotty box - very exciting!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Cute bottle, nice & small for my tiny kitchen. The missing capital letters annoyed me too - I'm a primary school teacher, I can't help it. I was a bit sceptical at first , not sure it's really going to work with 4 little squirts. But very happy with the results!

Oh, and the French instructions totally threw me! My rubbish 'A' level French helped me in the end!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It's too expensive for me. I would buy it if it was cheaper (£3 -£4)

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was OK , I usually use fabric conditioner so not a major problem. Smelt nice and nice and clean. The cleaning power was ace! Really impressed! It cleaned very grubby toddler clothes!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Definitely! I love it! It cleans really well, it's a nice handy size & it's Eco friendly! I know my mum and sister will love so I'll be telling them all about it.

Thanks for picking to me test this, it really is fab!

Cambam2010 Mon 03-Dec-12 10:56:00

Qu1 - What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump.
The bottle was compact and easy to undo. Not sure how the bottle is done up again to stop accidental squirts from inquisative little hands or for taking on your travels. The pump action worked well and left no mess on the pump or in the drawer or the machine.

Qu2 - Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Because it was concentrated I was concerned that I hadn't used enough but I'm sure I would get used to this in time. The fragrance was too strong for me so this I would change.

Qu3 - What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I do not like my laundry to smell of cleaning solution so for me the fragrance was too strong. I'm having to dry things indoors at the moment and my whole house smells of Method. Saying that, it is not an offensive smell. I would just rather be able to smell my selected perfume/body lotion more then the smell of the clothes that I am wearing. The fragrance did die down abit as the clothes dried. Myself and my son suffer from sensitive skin and eczema and I am always wary of fragranced soaps etc as I consider it to be an added extra that could lead to skin issues, I shall be trying this washing liquid on my own clothes to test for a reaction before washing my sons items with it.
The cleaning power was good. I washed a colour load and a t-shirt with baked bean juice on it came out perfectly clean.

Qu4 - If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Most of my family have sensitive skin so I would discuss this with them but I think they would also be put off by the fragrance. I would recommend it as a sensitive liquid that has dirt removing power but for me this will just be used on select stuff that my usual non-bio can not get clean. I would recommend it to friends that are not quite as fussy as me regarding the scent but for many of them they are struggling on low incomes so the price might make it a turn off.

Overall - It did the job. Clothes came out clean. Wish the fragrance was not quite as strong. Yet to be seen whether it produces a skin reaction in my over sensitive family!

headfairy Mon 03-Dec-12 10:59:43

Right, done a couple of different washes with it now with different results so here goes...

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Overall, nice packaging. Neat little bottle, takes up much less space in my over crowded cupboards. I'm nowhere near the end of the bottle yet, but I hope it's going to be possible to use every last drop of it. I'm sometimes a bit suspicious of the efficiency of pumps (I never buy toothpaste in pump dispensers for that reason)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I don't have the bottle in front of me, but a list of ingredients would be nice to fully back up environmental credentials. I imagine it's pretty expensive, price is probably the biggest thing stopping me from buying environmentally friendly cleaning products more.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The first wash I did smelled lovely with four pumps. It was a fairly small wash, whites at 60 degress. School shirts came up nice and clean. Certainly it performed no worse than my current liquid. For the second wash I did a darks load, also at 60 degrees, five and a half pumps but a much larger load (my machine can take up to 7kg) and initially the clothes didn't smell that great. They still had a slightly musty/dirty smell. That did seem to recede as they dried, but the clothes had pretty much no scent once dried. The clothes were adequately cleaned, a couple of drops of hot chocolate my dd had dropped on to her pyjamas hadn't gone, but everything else seemed ok.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend it for it's space saving size and it's environmentally friendly tag. I would say that the claim you could do 25 washes from that bottle was a bit doubtful, especially if you have a larger size machine or really hard water. It compares adequately with other similar products on the market as far as I can tell.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the packaging - nice and compact and no mess on the outside of the bottle. Presume there will be refills available?

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No I was really impressed. I am mainly comparing vs eco products as that is what I tend to use and it performed really well. The bottle seems to be lasting and i like the way I just put 2 squirts in for a "refresh" but use 4 or 5 for a proper dirty load.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance?
My pet hate is smelly laundry - either smelling stale (obv) but I also hate strong-smelling detergents. this is the main reason I don't use fabric conditioner as I can't bear the smell (ooh are method going to make conditioner?!) My washing came out smelling fresh but it dried to almost no fragrance at all - big thumbs up from me.

And the cleaning power?
Good enough. I use shout spray on stains and it definitely performed as well as any other eco detergent i have tried, if not better.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? yes I would.

bigbadbarry Mon 03-Dec-12 11:11:34

I've just skimmed up the rest of the thread and it is interesting to see people complaining that the smell is strong - I have found it to have hardly any. Different types of water?

bradderswantsababy Mon 03-Dec-12 11:24:08

I found the product really easy to use ( once given the English instructions!) it's nice and easy to add to the draw and I even managed whilst holding my little boy! I think the size of the bottle could be bigger as I seemed to use loads in just a few days.

The fragrance wasn't strong enough for me when my clothes were dry. On the first wash I used my normal fabric softener and all I could smell after my clothes were dry was the softener. So the next wash I only used the method pump and my clothes were left with no fragrance which was disappointing. I also found that my little boys poo stained vests didn't come out as clean as when I use my normal washing powder even when I applied method straight on the stains. I think it's a great idea that its environmentally friendly but for the reasons above and the cost I probably wouldn't recommend to a friend sorry 😒

bradderswantsababy Mon 03-Dec-12 11:24:41

Ha that last but was a sad face!!

Raspberrygiggle Mon 03-Dec-12 11:28:46

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Fab product. Really easy to use. My washing smells really clean and fresh after use. Don't think it is an unreasonable price but would like to be able to buy a bigger bottle, 25 washes does not last long in our house!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Just the size of the bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Really nice fragrance and clothes feel and look really clean and fresh.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend. I would tell them it was very easy to use and cleaned clothes really well.

Thanks for letting me try this great product!

aristocat Mon 03-Dec-12 11:32:34

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the packaging and pump action bottle, very clever.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Obviously English instructions would be a good start grin and it is expensive! Not sure if I would pay extra - need to use it more before I decide.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I thought the smell was fine, could even be stronger. Sadly cleaning power gets a 0/10. I had an ice-cream stain on a white TShirt and it did not remove it. Squirted directly on the stain and then some inside the WM dispenser drawer. Stain still there sad

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Not at the moment but I will continue with other laundry and report back again.

Imflabulous Mon 03-Dec-12 12:14:23

Mine arrived today, well actually it arrived on friday but i missed the postie! so i collected it from the depot this morning.

I have yet to try it tho as done a wash this morning but shall test tomorrow.

Tootsandblanket Mon 03-Dec-12 12:37:20

So mine has arrived and I've used it in two loads of washing.
1) I too was very impressed by the smallness of the bottle and how little liquid was required ( as per instructions) for the wash. As space in our house is tight I begrudge the area taken up in cupboards by cleaning products, so based on size alone I would be tempted to buy this product again. I would be keen to be able to buy refill pouches for this bottle.
2) I can find nothing I would change... Did I miss the price somewhere in the box????
3) I liked the fragrance and even my very fussy DH commented on how fresh the laundry smelled. Not too overpowering. My second load of washing was my 2 year old daughters clothes and sheets... All snot and nappy stains came out. Very impressive. She has very sensitive skin but has not reacted in anyway to clothing used in this laundry load.
4)I would recommend this product, based on cleaning power, smell, kindness to sensitive skin and compactness. I like the ethos of the method brand.

zoeymlucas Mon 03-Dec-12 13:04:26

Q1 Overall impression? I loved the compact size of the bottle and felt that was a great idea as it would save space in my already packed cupboard an as was plastic no risk of broken boxes leaking everywhere. Was also very easy to press which is good as I have joint problems. However I felt the packaging was plain and non eye catching and if on a supermarket self wouldnt stand out from the crowd and catch my eye to investigate it further.

Q2 Anything I would change? I would make the bottle brighter and more inviting so it appeals on the already busy supermarket shelf. I would also do different scents as I found the smell bland and not very exciting.

Q3 Fragrance/ cleaning power? It cleaned really well and got rid of all the staines on my 2 and 10 year old boys clothes which is no small achievement! The smell wasnt really anything to write home anbout and to be hoest wastn really noticeable at all - I would use this for a newborn who I wouldnt want in highly perfurmed stuff but for day to day washing and my other boys and family stuff i like the clothes to smell nice as well as be clean.

Q4 Would I recomment? I would def recommend this product and loved the bottle and space saving it gave but would only recmmend it as a product for people with newborns as I felt the small was a huge let down for it. I would of also found it useful to know the RRP of this as I think this is important when reviewing a product as to where it is pitched in the market.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
A1 I really like the style and design of the bottle and packaging. Nice size, can be stored away discreetly.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A2 English instructions! Haha, although Mumsnet did kindly email and translate for numpties like me who can't read French!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
A3 Loved the smell of the laundry after washing, not too overpowering.
I tested it out on muddy school clothes and on my bedding and towels. everything came out clean, fresh and soft.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
A4 Yes, I would recommend.

Few more comments:

We are a bunch of sensitive skins in this house so will be interesting to see how this product will work long-term. Fine so far, but I'm wary of changing laundry products incase of irritation.

I would also like to know the retail price. If toopricey - not sure if I would buy again, maybe if it was on offer.

UrgentSubconsciousDemandsBacon Mon 03-Dec-12 13:22:26

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like it - I like how small it is and that it doesn't take up the entire cupboard under the sink.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Probably the cost, it's too expensive for me.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The smell is OK, not lovely and not offensive. I do really like the rest of the Method range, esp the hand soaps, and was expecting this to smell much nicer.

I wasn't impressed with the cleaning power. I did a small white load and it didn't come out looking very fresh. One of the tops had sauce down the front, and it was no cleaner than if it had been rinsed in warm water.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Probably not, I don't think it's powerful enough. I really like the design and the idea, but I don't think it does the job well enough.

orangejelly Mon 03-Dec-12 13:22:56

Q1. Overall, I like it - much handier and less drippy to squirt it in than pour a measured dose. I like that it's compact too.
Q2 I'd like refill pouches - I checked Tesco today and didn't see any.

Q3 Fragrance - I like it - smells really clean and linen-y but I think I prefer it a bit stronger. I'm 8.5mths pregnant at the moment and will be interested to see how I rate it after I've had the baby as my nose has been doing all kinds of weird and wonderful things for the past 5 months!
It cleaned very well.

Q4 Yes I would recommend it I think, esp if the price were a bit lower.

WildThongonthesparklytree Mon 03-Dec-12 13:27:02

Thank you - appreciate the opportunity to take part.

Q1 - I really like the convenience of the packaging. The washing results were the same as the big messy powders but without the yucky residue in the drawer particularly at low temperatures. One thing though - maybe it's the way I was holding it - I found it difficult to maintain the even amount for every pump, I think I must have been holding it at too much of an angle.

Q2 - As most other people have said, it is a bit pricier that others, but that wouldn't necessarily put me off buying it. I would like to have some information on if it safe to use on coloured washing - currently I buy bio and non-bio (whites and coloureds), so if this suitable for both I would see that as a huge bonus.

Q3 - Fragrance is fine, smells clean and fresh so can't ask for more than that. I think it will be even nicer once I can get my washing outside to line dry! Cleaning absolutely fine too, so far have done white school and DH office shirts at 40 degrees, big load of towels at 60 degrees and a mixed wash at 30 degrees - all fine, even the smelly pits hard working DH shirts

Q4 - Yes I would recommend Method Laundry Liquid, most of my friends and my Dsis buy whatever smells the nicest and like me try new things all the time. 25 washes will last us about 4 - 5 weeks (family of 3), towels once a week, bedding once a week blush, 1 white load and 2 coloured loads so it's actually not bad value really (convinces self)

LoonyRationalist Mon 03-Dec-12 13:30:37

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Like the small size and it is easy to use.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price & make it refillable
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
*Fragrance good, I don't like my washing to smell of artificial fragrance.
It got my washing clean, I started with 4 pumps and am now using just 2 pumps on a normal machine load, everything is still clean smile I have used it on 6 loads of coloured washing with no issue. Yet to try it on a white load though.*
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it but do think it is expensive.

Mindingalongtime Mon 03-Dec-12 13:37:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the look and design of it, but it must be used upright to squirt, so when nearly empty you need to put it in the drum as I found it wouldn't squirt at an angle

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Is it refillable, lots of plastic waste as such a small bottle

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Didn't notice any fragrance, it did get olive oil out of a woollen jumper on a low wash, so quite impressed with that - I squirted it directly onto the jumper first.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Not really, never talk about such mundane things!

I do love testing things though!

Dontbesodramatic Mon 03-Dec-12 13:39:14

DD came home of Friday with a filthy uniform and filthy p.e kit so perfect timing for us.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
A1 I liked how compact the bottle was. I didnt take up alot of space in the laundry cupboard. But I struggled to twist the pump and spillt liquid on the floor.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A2 I struggled abit with pumping straight on to the wash. Maybe the nozzle could be a little longer?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
A3 DD's uniform and p.e kit were much dirtier then they normally are! It was caked in mud and paint. It washed beautifully but not as fragranced as the Aeriel we normally use.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
A4 Yes I would. The fact her uniform washed so well without so much of a speck of the filth she came home in. Also clothes felt very soft, so definately recommended.

economymode Mon 03-Dec-12 13:50:53

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Smaller than I thought it was going to be, but easy to store in the cupboard.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Make it a bit cheaper and sell it in a larger bottle, perhaps.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really like the smell - fresh but not sickly or overpowering. I was also really impressed with its ability to clean - much better than I thought.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
If price were no object for the friend/relative, then yes. It cleans really well, is less messy than using powder or measuring out other liquid cleaners into caps - just pump straight into drawer. It also smells good. Plus it's eco-credentials are well worth a mention. If they were on a budget, then I'd still recommend it, but suggest they buy it when on offer etc/leave it up to them to make the decision.

123mon Mon 03-Dec-12 13:52:10

1) my impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 wash pump was really good, nice small bottle, dont take to much space, i couldn beleve it
2)i think its a bit expensive, so the only think i would change is the price, if the price goes down i think more people would buy it,
3)the cleaning power is fantastic, my whites came out very nice and clean and looking new, the fragrance is very nice and fresh
4)i am defenately recommend the Methon Laundry Liquid 25wash pump to other as i already did, whath would i say? the truth!, its a very good product, wash very well, smell nice but a bit to expensive but overall worth it
Thank you for let me try the product

JimmyCorkhill Mon 03-Dec-12 14:02:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Lovely compact bottle. I did find it difficult to control the power of the squirt - I missed the detergent drawer a few times. As someone said earlier, you need to hold the bottle upright which made it tricky when applying to stains. Probably not a problem for a one off stain but my toddler's clothes are usually covered with random ones so it was tricky to get them all without wasting lots of the product.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price! We are on a tight budget and whilst it was lovely to use I couldn't justify spending that much money when the value ranges get my clothes equally clean.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The smell was pleasant but not overpowering. All my clothes came out clean. I only treated stains on my toddler's clothes and I did find that in that load there were lots of bubbles on the washing machine door seal at the end. My clothes, however, were the softest they've ever been which was lovely.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it, definitely. If I had the cash I would always buy the more eco friendly products. The compact size is a bonus for both storage and carrying home from the shops if you're not using a car. The softness of the clothes is the winning point for me.

Thanks Mumsnet for selecting me for this trial, especially for the big box of packaging things which kept my toddler quiet for AGES!!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? The product has lovely packaging and is nice to use, The smell is strong in its liquid form but nice after washing
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The price, I would only be able to buy it when it was on offer
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance was strong initially, but after washing it was nice, cleaning wise was brilliant and clothes were very very soft
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would definitely recommend it and I already have. It is great just a bit outside of my budget at the moment

shelley72 Mon 03-Dec-12 14:36:09

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice and small, doesn't take up too much space. Was very easy to pump into the drum and less messy that our usual liquid (which i usually spill everywhere).

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Probably make it a little cheaper, although we currently pay about £7 - 8 for a 28 wash liquid so I guess not much difference actually. I would probably be more likely to stock up when on 3 for 2 as it doesnt take up much space.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I tried the 'fresh air' and the smell wasnt as strong as our usual liquid (ariel / fairy non bio)- but it smelt 'clean'. It cleaned MUCH better than I thought it would. DS came home from school on Friday with his NEW school coat absolutely caked in mud and with a suspect (felt tip?) mark all down the sleeve. Can only be washed on a cool wash and I was amazed that it came out, without pre-treating. I am v impressed smile.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would, and I will be looking out for it in the shop (and in the fragrance free for DD too). Its just so easy to use, compact and washes really well
Thanks for letting me try it!

Choppelina Mon 03-Dec-12 14:36:26

I've only used this for one wash but thoughts so far:

What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Like the compactness of the bottle - a bonus for a small under the sink cupboard space in our kitchen. Also thought that the pump was a great idea - means you only use as much as you need and much better than faffing about with excess packaging/crumbling tablets that drop all over the floor when you're trying to get them out.

Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The smell (see below). Also, the bottle is pretty robust for something you're just going to chuck away at the end, and it seemed you could only recycle half of it? That said, the wri
