We're looking for 20 Mumsnetters to try Philips PerfectCare Xpress the World's first pressurised steam iron, with "revolutionary OptimalTEMP technology and compact steam generator, it's built for powerful crease removal and is faster than any other steam iron, as tested by independent institute, DWI, June 2011".
Here's what Philips say about the product: "PerfectCare Xpress has no settings, just one perfect temperature that's safe on all ironable fabrics, even delicates. Iron from jeans to silk, to linen, to cotton, to cashmere...in any order, without having to adjust the temperature, it's 100% scorch proof! Plus with an automatic motion steam sensor inside ironing has never been easier. Compact and convenient for storage it's perfect for ironing small loads, every day"
This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters. Testers will be required to try the iron out over the course of a week and add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. We'd also like you to add a review to MN reviews to let us know how you get on.
To sign up click here.
All those who are selected to take part and leave the required feedback on Mumsnet will receive the PerfectCare Xpress to keep (RRP £120).
Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ
Done!
Done. I hate ironing..anything that makes it quicker must be a plus!
Oh me me me!!!!!!
Me please!!!! It'd be like christmas come early
Me please!
Me too!!! can they also send me David Tennant to demonstrate it please?
Done! But Accidently got my nickname wrong and it won't let me do it again lol, does that matter?? I just missed out the 123 on the end!! x
would love to test a decent iron
Me please please please!!! I am rubbish at ironing.
Done! I am not a fan of ironing at all!!! So anything that would make life easier I am happy to try.
Done
I really could do with a good iron.
Done. Fingers crossed.
Oh me please! Expecting PFB in 3 weeks and carefully ironing muslins at the moment in expectation.
yup done
Also done. Ooh exciting.
<Hides head in hands at the shame of being excited by an iron>
Hoping to get another opportunity for testing after enjoying taking part in the Bisto Stock Melts test recently. A good steam iron would be great !
Sat Nav we acquired recently in the SANDS auction also adding greatly to our quality of life and family harmony
DancingInTheRain123 don't worry I'll amend your entry
Knew you guys would like this one!
I'm awful at ironing, always end up creasing stuff more and burning things. I need all the help I can get!
I hate ironing, anything that would make it easier would be brilliant. Please please pick me, you could save my marriage!!! (or at least stop the domestics over who's turn it is to iron)
If it can reduce the time taken and make it easier I will tell the world
DONE.Would love
to try this on schooliform stuff...as even things that say non iron need ironing and I particularly loathe the shirts and trousers(grrrrr)
Done! I have inherited my Mums need to iron everything, but my current iron is dangerously leaky, so this would help enormously!
Done
Done. We only iron what looks a disgrace without it at the momeny but DS gets a school uniform next September so it'd be great to get a decent iron by then.
Done
Done, DD's pleated school skirts are evil with my crappy cheapy iron, I dread ironing them!
Done
Iron?
What is this thing you speak of?
Oooh, pick me please!!
Done. I cannot understand how a family of 4 can make so much washing / ironing. DS starting school has only added to the problem. I need a decent iron - I go through them at a startling rate and yet to find one up to the task!
Oooh this would be fab - discovered that someone has dropped my current iron and it is now gushing dirty brown water everywhere - when it deigns to turn on at all!
I know one shouldn't speak ill of the departed but it wasn't up to much in the first place! Steam very temperamental and spray clogged up long ago! I would love a steam generator iron then I could iron everything in sight - would love to have ironed sheets and duvet covers... (well I can dream)
Everything is falling apart around me! Dishwasher conked out in the summer, tumble dryer creaking, washing machine squealing ... Just glad I didn't order any replacements from Comet! Phew!
<waits patiently by emailbox with fingers and toes crossed>
Done.
Done. I would love this, absolutely love it!
I have added my name, so fingers crossed !!
Ok. I want to do this, however, I don't actually iron.
DH is in charge of ironing in the HairyKnee household.
Is it ok if I put my name down and he can use it and give me feedback to put on MN?
It'll be just up his street - he always drags me to look at the techiest looking irons whenever we jo out shopping.
Done....oo-er we can't all qualify!!
I was hoping that with all the MN-ers who vow they "never iron" <how ...HOW do they not iron??!! > I'd be in with a chance.
Hey-ho good luck all!
I have a 15mo little boy... I NEED THIS! Especially the rate at which he goes through stuff!!
WiseKneeHair - yep put your name down but put that it's your DH in the "pick me" box!
Thanks Ann.
I didn't put his name down, I just answered it as if I were him.
I'm quite good at answering for him, I've had 20 years experience.
Oh.Done!!!I would love to try this iron! I iron everything, even socks! It's crazy I know but I like how soft and lovely clothes and bedding, towels are after ironing
My iron doesn't steam enough(looks like it will be dead very soon)
That's why would love to try this perfect iron with one setting for all clothes, who is faster than other irons! I love ironing and ironed clothes but I hate to spend more time than this is necessary!
Done! Pleeeeeeeeease pick me, I'm crap and need to get better at ironing so we don't look like the Family Scruff all the time.
Done.
I neeeeeed to test this one, I will bribe as neccesary
I hate ironing sooo much!
Did you get mine? the screen didnt load properly when i sent it.
Please pick me, i have a rubbish cheap iron, would love to make the job easier and a bit quicker!
I'll be lucky to get this given I'm still mid-another test, but my iron's 30+ years old, won't steam any more and I've just had to remember how to use it when DS went to school. Argh! School trousers and little tiny shirts!
So far I'm doing better at ironing me than the clothes - the second burn since Sept has only just healed... because I'm having to use a damp muslin thanks to lack of steam. And I put my hand under it... Klutz. And I burned a pair of trousers when I tried without the cloth. I even posted on here about having to get someone to do it for me in desperation! So I'd love simple iron that even a completely useless half-asleep idiot I can use.
done. i'd love to try this.DH loves ironing and I always blame the iron for my poor attempts. I'd love to say "see, told you so!"
Done. How are you selecting? Is it names out of a hat?
Done
omg! I do hope I get picked for this. I have tried to give up ironing but just can't bring myself to wear unironed clothes or even put the children in them. I even iron socks and pants, my ocd just won't let me put them away unless they are neatly pressed! But I truly HATE ironing so a fancy iron would make my day!
Please please me I hate ironing and am pretty bad at it!
I need this. My future sanity depends on it!
please please - I'm stood here with an iron and a water filled plant spray - mine stopped steaming a year ago and I can't decide which one to buy - there are so many out there it is impossible to decide!!
Done. It's amazing how annoying baby clothes are to iron!
No need to adjust the temp? No scorching? Sounds like iron heaven!
I hate ironing
Surely a new iron would make it more exciting, and the DC's would then have lovely ironed shirts rather than the usual shaken and folded effect
Any chance of still getting selected??? Our iron leaves water marks at its worst and at best doesn't actually get out any creases-just heats the fabric. Would love to wear a crease free shirt (although with a 2yo and 5 week old that may be ambitious?!?
Done!
Done!!!
I bloody love ironing, I know I'm sad, but I do. I find it very therapeutic - nothing better than working my way through a basket full of creased shirts and making them all smooth with sharp creases!!
<runs before the men with straight jacket are called>
Entered..... when do we find out? Only as I dropped and smashed mine the other day and save me getting the new crappy one out the box and all that (ever hopeful ;-) )
I've signed up. Its an ongoing issue in our house. DH says I am crap at ironing though I try my best. He is RAF trained to iron to kill and spends ages fecking around getting things perfect. I'd love to surprise him with my super ninja ironing skills!
Done - anything that would actually encourage me to iron clothes would mean I have so many different things to wear instead of the same few items all.the.time
My DH would LOVE IT if I was picked and it converted me to ironing
He ends up doing any ironing because I loathe it so much.
I am the worlds most rubbish ironer. This might convert me.
Done. Hope I get picked, have no iron at the moment.
Please please please can I try this. My husband dropped my iron and it leaks steam which is dangerous. I really need a new iron!
Me me me. My ex took the decent iron when he left!
Me! I'm fed up with iron spit on my clothes...
Done. For that price I'm hoping it's got an autopilot button
so I can put my feet up and have a
. Also, put down my more regularly used mn name but I'm guessing you could hunt me down via email if needed!
Done so desperate to get this one! I have an old flat iron!!!! Not really but doesn't steam or make things particularly flat!
Done! I really need a new iron.
Done - might even convince hubby to iron if it's a super duper swish one :-) (well miracles might happen lol)
Done... fingers crossed
Signed up too. As someone with too many things with iron burns on them from using a too hot iron this sounds great!
All done
Done. My fingers are firmly crossed on this one. Currently averse to ironing as I never seem to get any results with my nan's old hand-me-down one! Think I have it more for sentimental value than any practical use!
Me please!!! I missed out on the Hoover test and would really really love a new iron as mine is about to give up the ghost. Thanks!!
I would really love the chance to try this one out, anything to make my ironning pile less of a boring mountain has got to be a good one to try out.
Done!
Oh meeeee with a cherry on top. I love ironing!! Let me try a new gadget purlease!!!
Would love this! I've been wanting a new iron for absolutely ages..
done! I'm crap with irons
done!
Sounds amazing!! Anything that makes going from item to item without fretting about the setting sounds perfect!! Love you mumsnet for giving us this crosses everything
Done.It sounds brilliant! I love looking in my wardrobe when everything is ironed but at the moment it is a busting at the seams crumpled mess(how come unironed items take up twice the room?)
Done fingers crossed!
Done.
If I'm picked it saves me having to buy DH a Christmas Present
Done
Done.
Hope I get chosen - never win anything be just my luck though that the only thing I win in my entire life is an iron. The family will start expecting crinkle free clothes
ooh done iron is a swear word in my house i dont iron
I've got a steam generator but its so bulky that I can't be bothered to get it out. Also DH finds it complicated so end up having to set it up for him. There you go 2 testers for the price of 1!
done.
Done.
Could you add something to my survey. I didn't click the option for sometimes burning delicates, the reason is because they are the one thing I don't iron! Too scared of ruining them, I have a beautifully creased Christmas table cloth just waiting for this iron!
I will happily try a new iron - anything to make me do it would be helpful.
Done, I am always ironing and I hate it do will give anything a try
Done...
Done #desperate
Done
Sounds ideal - I've lost count of the clothes I've ruined by forgetting to turn the iron down - you'd think I'd have learned by experience, but I think my brain switches off when I'm ironing.
Done. Please please please let me be selected, we look like tramps currently due to iron dying and only being able to afford a tesco value one to replace it
It is shittier than a shit thing on a very shit day
I've done it. Would love to try a new iron, mine is on the blink, but not sure what to go for as my last 2 iron decisions haven't been good ones!
I would but since I got to go on an ironing fun day and received a super duper fancydan iron courtesy of mumsnet some years ago, I feel it would be greedy! Have to say those irons are wonderful
ive added myself to the mix, but as I dont iron at all, Im probably not a good one to judge. HOWEVER something fast and efficient might just persuade me.....
an ironing funday! not 2 words i'd expect to hear together!
It was such a laugh! We had coffee and very nice pastries on arrival, then a demo by a world champion ironed, then a very nice lunch, then we got our trickiest clothes ironed for us, then we got a goodie bag. A couple of days later we each received a £200 iron to try and keep.
Great day and the iron is fab.
Ooh I could use a decent iron.
Yes me please!!
An iron that doesn't hurt to use, I don't have to faff around with settings on, and doesn't take forever to iron... Yes please!!
Done - hate ironing with a passion so this ones to see if I can be persuaded to change my mind!
Just been drooling over researching the iron, if it does what it says it will be amazing.
Oh my goodness I am your perfect tester!
Even on the hottest setting I still end up with creases in sheets, the product actually sounds too good to be true, the science behind it would be interesting.
And so many good uses,my mother is in the early stages of Alzheimers and a one setting product would be great for her.
Sounds amazing. Pick me!
Done: I iron anything I can throw on the board, but my trusty steamer has developed a sticky bottom so a new iron would be v welcome
Done. DH and I are in the middle of an iron settings battle at the moment so this could solve some arguements
I can't get the survey to submit once I've filled it in... DH will be disappointed as it's him who'd test it!
Done
me! me! me! would love to try one of these!!
Done! Less time ironing = more time to eat cake, and that's got to be a good thing
Parisbanana hello... I was there too! It was a fun day wasn't it?
I'm so in need of a new iron and would love love to test out the product..
Pleas pick meeeee xxx
Done! Ohhh pick meee - I dream of an iron where I cannot destroy things by ironing on the wrong setting!
Done
Done
Er, ironing?
That's the basket of crumpled clothes I give to my ironing fairy once a week. She brings it back, beautifully ironed, on hangers, ready to put away.
I give her the £12 she charges. Everyone's happy
Done, I love well ironed clothes but hate doing the work with my current iron.
HQ can you pick me to give your iron to my ironing fairy to test, I bet she'd love it! Please x
Done.. this might just be god's sympathy on my current ironing state
What is an ironing fun day ??! I'd love to try a new model Please ..... Less time ironing, more mumsnetting! ....
Done. I love ironing. My heart actually leapt when I saw this was for an iron.
Done
Done - oh yes please!
Done
Done. This is one product I really want to try!
Done, really really hope I'm picked.
Done
Done
Done. My iron is rubbish, so would love to try something to make an arduous rash easier. Plus, I love a gadget!
Done
Done :-)
Done!
done here too
Done!
hello folks - we had an AMAZING response to this....closing it off now.
But do watch this space as we may well have another one up for grabs when we start the feedback thread....
Hi AnnMumsnet. I just signed up (or thought I did) - does my entry count as the survey still let me complete? Also, does it make any difference if, when you sign up, you also leave a message on the thread saying something like"I'd love to test this!". Just wondered! Thanks
Hi Suzys - yes and no! (in 2 words...) - yes your form is in the 'pile' and no it doesn't make a difference
ooh, when do we find out if we've been picked?
ooooh... I have been selected!
AnnMumsnet, do you know roughly when we might expect to receive the iron to test? I have a massive pile to iron and if it coming soon-ish, I will delay my ironing so that I test the Philips iron on it.
If it is going to take a couple of weeks, I'd better get going on my current pile though!
Thanks
Next week sometime I hope!
Did i get selected? <looks woefully at mountain of ironing>
I've always wondered that about the comments on the thread - or else why does everyone just post 'done'? Never got it.
Ah well. I shall delay my two baskets of ironing in the hope I am picked any excuse.
Not this time Vajazzler - sorry - was a v popular one - do look over your mountain for the feedback thread though as could be one more up for grabs!
Thanks, AnnMumsnet. I think I will save my ironing as that should be a good test then.
Ah well. Never mind <ignores the mountain>
anyone got picked ?
Me!!!! Yeh !!!! got 3 big blue ikea bags of ironing to test the baby with!
Vajazzler, I suggest sending your mountain to upinthehills
Right, who got picked? I have TWO baskets here. Come and get 'em.
You know what Rattitude i think i might!
Don't you bloody dare
I have more than enough filling my spare room already!
oooh dp has just informed me that i won this, first time in my life ive been looking forward to ironing
Sobs
No email for me
Cracks whip on DH again
Woo hoo I'm in!
Does this mean I have a legitimate excuse to refuse to do any ironing till my fancy new iron arrives?
This song is for Vajazzler and RudolphUcker.
Yay I got picked. I had a call off a blocked number earlier but missed it? Hope that wasn't anything to do with it :s
I also have loads of ironing ready and waiting!
Philips called from a blocked number so it might have been them.
Oh no. I hope they ring back :/
I probably missed their call too then PinkPepper my phone rang at quarter past 3 just as I was unlocking door to collect Ds so I had to either ignore or risk being late. I'm a little obsessive about being on time so I left it.
Mumsnet, I can provide my mobile number if needed or email me to ring them. Just thinking that they're likely to be out of office until monday and then I'm working for two days. Can you tell I don't want my new iron taking away now!
If I got picked I'd know by now wouldn't I?
I can go and buy a cheap nasty iron can't I?
<<sighs miserably and attempts to smooth hidiously wrinkled clothing with hand>>
Gutted I didn't get picked <sigh>
Creased look is in right?
We had missed call from blocked number too! Hope they emailed people too
Thank you Rattitude, that song inspired me.to put away the clothes unironed
at Rudolph
Rudolph, you have to live the life you were born to live...
I got my call last week, said they would be delivering it at some point this week.
Getting a bit twitchy: I had said to Philips that yesterday and today were best for me to receive the iron.
I have deliberately stayed at home these past two days but nothing so far and I suspect it may not come today now
.
I just hope there will be an option to pick it up somewhere not too distant if I am not here when it is delivered.
Otherwise, I may have to send my pile to Upinthehills too.
Damn, MNHQ forgot to email me
No point sending it here - it's not arrived yet.
I have missed two deliveries on 2 separate days whilst doing the school run ( I assume it is iron but may not be!). Second time I wrote where to leave it but it is being sent signed for they they can't leave it hidden anywhere.
It is that Hermes "lifestyle" courier company - and it is very annoying - no depot to pick it up from. You call the number, have done twice saying I will be in after 3pm and nothing. They won't call you back. Am sitting in all morning till nursery run again. Haven't been able to go for run or anything and sod's law they will come again when I am out. If it is the iron, Philips please use a company with a depot where you can collect the goodsd if you are going to send something that needs to be signed!!
i haven't heard anything yet, not had a phonecall or delivery.
I take it back - it wasn't the iron it was toyrus! Oh well that is one more present hidden away in the attic!
Phew got another phone call. They asked me if it was ok to be left in post office if needed. She said she'd try and ring with the day it'd come (i said I could take it anytime)
I still have not received mine either. They have not yet attempted to deliver it from I can gather...
I am hoping to receive it before the weekend or I will have to crack on with my ironing with my current iron.
Interesting to read these recent messages - I haven't got mine either - even though I agreed with Philips I'd be in on Monday to take delivery. Why would they agree a day and not stick to it?
I agree, Finbar. It would have been better if they had told us dates that worked for them, rather than let us specify dates that they could not deliver on anyway.
Ha well...
I haven't even had a phonecall to arrange delivery at all yet. I had a missed call last week at about quarter past 3 which is school run time which could maybe have been them.
I got a phone call last week to say they would be sending them out this week. arranged for them to deliver to work but not a sausage, or indeed an iron, so far.
Sorry if folks have had issues re delivery etc - there has been a couple of queries and I know the team there are on the case.
Thanks Ann. My ironing can happily wait
Yay I have the iron
Mine arrived too, with a Boden scarf and some chocolates too! I'm oddly excited to try the iron out whilst wearing my scarf at a jaunty angle and scoffing chocolate
Mine has just arrived with the extra goodies too. Who'd have thought I'd be excited about ironing on a weekend!
Got mine today, love the extras, what a nice surprise!
mines not came yet, boo
is it royal mail, as i have a delivery to pick up from sorting office but thought it was something else from ebay.
snif snif.... no iron yet chez Rattitude!
Mine has arrived!
It came with chocolates and a scarf (thought maybe I was meant to try ironing the scarf, but I don't want to risk that with the chocolate
).
It was a Parcelforce delivery guy, so if you miss it, it should be easy to track down.
Huge packing box though, so if you're picking it up from the delivery office I'd either take the car, or get rid of the outer box.
You and me both Rattitude !
Finbar, I was actually thinking about you and Upinthehills as neither of you had commented yet. At least, I am not alone!
Yep lovely big box perfect for these DVDs I have to take up the attic. And lovely chocolates. Havn't opened iron yet!
Mine arrived this morning - the chocs and silk scarf were a very nice, unexpected touch. Have actually ironed a few things!
Gits
Less of the pressies and more of the elbow grease please!
Mine arrived too - I am embarrassed at how excited I am, what has my life come to? And extra gifts too, how lovely are those people at Philips!
Hurrah - I expect no creases from now on from you lot...!
Looks like I will be a creased Rattitude for a bit longer
They tried to deliver mine today, going to PO to get it tomorrow.
Well I ironed a t shirt. Then let dp take over. He's still going

It is quite good to be honest, I kept going over areas where I didn't really have redo to but out of habit
Picked mine up from the post office this morning.
Bit bizarre as it is/was full of water which has leaked over everything inc the lovely scarf, plug and cord both soaked too.
How weird. Definitely no water in mine? Was it in the box or in the actual iron?
Got mine yesterday, ate the chocs last night, and going to do so ironing today. Really excited about it.
Now I'm sad...am still waiting for mine!
Do you think they've forgotten me? Please don't start the trial without me!!
Finbar, you are not alone! I am also iron-less and will soon be roaming around in a naked state if it does not turn up soon.
I probably should have a go at my clothes mountain with my current iron.
Water was in iron, the cable wasnt wrapped up, and it wasnt in a bag or anything... Maybe they had to test it or something ?
Geordieminx - how odd...will let them know
Mine hadnt been used. Cord was a nice tidy loop thing. And there were some stickers on it. Where do we have to post the feedback? I will do some ironing tomorrow
Feedback thread will be coming - will be after about a week - so probably next week (give everyone a chance to put it through it's paces!)
Ah thank you. Maybe I'll have chance to see the bottom of my laundry basket
Finbaaaaaaaaar, I got my iron (and the goodies too - thank you, Philips!).
Have you received yours?
Shout out to you Rattitude - I GOT MINE TOO!
Only slight downside is that it seems I will have to pay out £ 25 for one of the IronCare water filters as we are in a hard water area.
Mine has also arrived this afternoon and it was lovely to have the added gifts of a scarf and chocolates. Thank you very much to whoever was responsible for that kind thought!
I have a large pile of ironing waiting for me tomorrow and will enjoy trying out my new toy. I assume a feedback thread will appear soon?
Got mine too! My goodness it's a whopper though. And the scarf and chocs were very a lovely surprise.
Finbar,
I'm just using my normal water filter that I use for the kettle. It will do the job well enough for now at least.
I've done all my ironing today this week with it already.
I don't know if the feedback instructions have been emailed yet but just wanted to let you know that if they have I am not ignoring then deliberately. We were due to change broadband supplier on monday and in their wisdom BT deliver your router in the day. They delivered it to an address we left 5 years ago (despite moving our Bt line here!) and we are still waiting so I have no email access.
Hi - feedback thread will be up shortly and I will email you a link but will also post a link to it here.
Thanks Ann.
feedback thread now live
