We've been asked by Britain's kitchen appliance brand Kenwood to find 100 Mumsnetters to put four of their blenders, choppers and food processors to the test for baby food - so we are looking for Mumsnetters who....
a) have a baby aged 5-6 months who is about to be weaned onto solid food - and
b) who would like to road test a Kenwood appliance for weaning foods.
If you are selected for the trial, you will be sent one of four Kenwood appliances - this is yours to keep after the test. You'll need to try the appliance for a couple of weeks. All we ask is that you then add feedback on a thread on Mumsnet about your views and experiences of the appliance. You will also be encouraged to add a product review to the Mumsnet review page.
All those who add feedback will also be entered into a prize draw where one lucky winner will receive a £100 John Lewis voucher.
There are four Kenwood appliances in the test and we have 25 of each:
CH180 Mini Chopper RRP £19.99
HB724 Triblade Hand Blender (a new product: "with variable speed complete with whisk, chopper and masher attachments") RRP £64.99
HB711 Triblade Hand Blender RRP £29.99
FP260 MultiPro Compact Food Processor RRP £99.99
To be in with a chance of testing one of these appliances, please add your details here
Thanks and good luck

am doing blw with 6 month old, but these products sound good for food prep for blw too!
I'd love one of these. Pretty please!!
Fab timing. Cracking open the baby rice this weekend so I'll need something soon to help with the endless chopping.
They sound good for food prep for adults too...
yes i'm not sure what the weaning angle is really. it's just food prep init? anyway, we shall see..
Do you need proof of a baby?
I have one of those and would like one of those! dd nicked a chip off my plate at Nandos today
Ann - did you mention to them that they are all totally unnecessary for weaning children?

Done it, DS2 is eight months and we're just getting going with finger food/ stuff he can grab.
Think they are going to have to broaden the test group. As well as chopping stuff up for DS2 I also want to prepare things more quickly for everyone but am never sure if the expensive processors are worth it.
I am actually planning on replacing our old crappy food processor in the next couple of months and everything, but nooooo, Kenwood only want mothers of very specific-aged babies, who don't need things pureeing any more than the rest of us do.

weaning ds is proving a bit of a rocky road. sometimes he is all about the finger food, sometimes he likes a bit of mush, but he's mainly still bfing
ah well
Thanks to those who have already volunteered for this product test - some of you have asked why this product test is aimed at mums with a baby about to be weaned and not just everyone. A lot of these Kenwood products shine at blending and pureeing, in particular the new Kenwood Triblades. Kenwood really wanted to road test the products with Mums who are weaning, giving them a helping hand in making their own baby food and to get feedback on the uses of the appliance with this particular aspect of food preparation. The appliances can indeed be used for other aspects of family food preparation but this product test is focusing on mums of 5-6 month old babies. Sorry if this effectively excludes you but there will be other product tests you can participate in soon!
But CatherineMumsnet, you are missing the point.
There is a wealth of research and evidence showing that if your baby is developed and ready for solids they don't need it to be mashed, pureed or spoon-fed. The ability to sit up, pick up food and bite, chew and swallow is the best indicator that your baby is ready for solids.
To go along with Kenwood in this is to imply that it is right/ok/necessary to mush food for babies, and this is just not the case.
Hand blenders are brilliant for making soups etc, but not needed for weaning a baby.
I would but my dd is only 3.5 months at the moment. How long is the test running for?
Ohh me please, have filled in! DS is having the occasional solid feed at the moment, but sometimes he won't take it... Fussy child

Sorry - to those of you with slightly younger babies..they were after folks who are starting weaning almost immediately. Thanks for interest though!
I filled it in hoping they might let me test even though babywhiffle is younger....
Oh well.
