HouseTrip are looking for five lucky MNers and their families to enjoy a free stay at a HouseTrip location and post their feedback on MN.

HouseTrip say "HouseTrip is an online platform that allows visitors to choose from over 300,000 full homes from around the world to holiday in. From ivy-dappled country cottages to beach retreats and city-centre lofts, the service offers simplicity, value, flexibility and security for families looking for a hassle free and enjoyable holiday experience from start to finish."

We're looking for families who are able to visit one of the locations below:

  • London, UK
  • Edinburgh, UK
  • Kent, UK
  • Cornwall, UK
  • Norfolk ,UK
  • Brittany, France
  • Brussels, Belgium
  • Lisbon, Portugal

    Available dates for visits include:
  • w/c 5 May
  • w/c 12 May
  • w/c 19 May
  • w/c 26 May

You can pick the location you’d like to visit and whether you’d prefer to visit during the week (Monday-Thursday) or the weekend (Friday-Monday).

HouseTrip will be organising the accommodation for the selected testers and they will also be booking any train, air or ferry travel and reimbursing petrol costs.

In return for this free trip (worth on average £800) each MNer will be asked to:

~ Make a video diary of their trip and submit this to HouseTrip. These videos will be edited and may be shown on the HouseTrip pages on MN, on HouseTrip.com and possibly elsewhere. They will be hosted on YouTube.
~ Add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet – at least twice. We're looking for feedback before you go and when you return. There will be WiFi available at your location, so we’d also like for you to post once you're there. These comments may well be used by HouseTrip on their pages on Mumsnet as well as possibly elsewhere (including on social media, in the press etc). Your MN name will not be used.
~ Add photos to the feedback thread (these don't need to show the children/ yourself, eg they could feature home you’re staying in, food, etc)
~ Add a review on Mumsnet to the Self Catering pages

If you'd like to sign up please add your details here.

We will be in touch with selected testers ASAP and their details will be passed to the team at HouseTrip so they can make the booking arrangements.

    Thanks and good luck!

Gulp. Didn't check the form before I sent it so I may have missed out some vital question, or something! Ah well. If I'm picked, great. If not, I'll go back to looking for a holiday!

Completed and fingers crossed - could really do with a break!

Ooh. Looks too good to be true. DC have begged to go to Brussels in one of those weeks as there's a music festival on that they want to attend. Too much to hope we'd be picked!

Oh man could really do with a decent holiday!!

Didn't write a sob story, so should've done! It would've been true too Grin

I'm in - the seven year old is currently obsessed with all things Royal, so crossing fingers for London or Edinburgh.

Looking on the bright side, this is yet another holiday company I can now cross off my (very short) list of possibles when it comes to booking stays for me, DH and my three children.

Maybe we should just stick to camping until the kids are old enough to be in a room without a parent / me and DH are sick of each other enough not to care being in 2 separate rooms.

I'm in. Just watching me complete the survey has sent the 4yr old to sleep, and that's after an easter egg hunt, the park, 2hrs swimming, and dinner in a cafe. 2yr old is still wide awake whilst my eyes are pink.

Ds's currently have amber attendance at school (because I keep to the rules and they stay away for 48 hours after a bout of vomiting +/- diarrhoea) and I already know that having had a week off work during the Easter holidays that I can't have any off for half term so we won't be able to apply for this one.

Would be fab if ds's were of preschool age.

The last week is half term for us

I think it's a bit off to complain that this potential freebie doesn't quite fit your set up.

I don't remember sad-facing over that new car test drive. Excluding me because I don't have a licence, pah! Grin

But there are loads of tests on here I can't do:

Tests for baby stuff (have teens)
Tests based in the South (live in the North)

Etc etc.

And loads I apply for and don't have the magic touch.

I find that in order to participate in any kind of "family" holiday/ day out at theme park, etc, you need to stop at 2 DCsConfused

grumpyoldtrout; there is nothing on the company website that says they don't cater for larger families Hmm especially as they deal with houses and apartments. I am assuming that for the purposes of the trial the company have benchmarked some two bed apartments/houses.

I have three DC and I have applied; we will leave DH at home if chosen Grin

MN could you please clarify that a single parent with up to three children could also apply, thanks Smile

None of those dates suit Scottish school holidays so that's teachers ruled out - as well as those parents not wanting to take their children out of school :-(

Report
catwithflowers · 18/04/2014 08:12

But aren't there dates for weekends, Pinot? And I haven't clicked on the link yet but it says families of 'up to 2 adults and 2 kids so I assume if you are a single parent with two children or a couple with one child, you could still apply. Or have I missed something?
