This is a thread for the 50 Mumsnetters who attended the Happy Height Day at THORPE PARK Resort. Thanks for going, and we hope that you and your family had great day!

Here's what THORPE PARK Resort say: "We see so many excited kids every year who have just reached 1.4m and are now tall enough to have the ride of their lives. At THORPE PARK Resort we're championing this achievement with our Happy Height Day, and celebrating the moment these kids experience a whole new world of thrills!
Whilst we love seeing these kids giddy with excitement to ride on Stealth for the first time, with over 25 rides and attractions throughout the Park and with a new ANGRY BIRDS Land opening in May, there really is so much to keep the whole family entertained. And that includes those under 1.4m"

Below are some questions for you to answer, but do feel free to add any other comments you or your family may have.

Please remember to also write a review of your day on the MN review area here
- Who was in your group and how old are the children?
- Have you been to THORPE PARK Resort before, if so, when?
- What was your, and your family's, overall experience of Happy Height Day?
- What were your/your DCs highlights of the day?
- Which, if any, attractions/ rides would you most recommend to parents with children who have just reached 1.4m in height?
- Overall, would you recommend THORPE PARK Resort to your friends and family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?

Please also upload any photos of your family enjoying their day out THORPE PARK Resort to this thread. Please note photos may be used by THORPE PARK Resort on Facebook, their website and possibly on other marketing material.

For those of you who did not attend Happy Height Day, what makes the ultimate fun day out for you and your family? Everyone who adds a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win THORPE PARK Resort ANNUAL PASSES for a family of four worth £196

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Non-tester and deeply envious!

The ultimate fun day out for us as a family is one that we all really enjoy! Such days are becoming less easy to orchestrate with a significant age-gap twixt our DCs. I would have said that a theme park was the ideal fun day out for all of us!

I was one of the really lucky ones. We are all packed up and ready to leave. Luckily don't live too far away. Have the changes of clothes - some of those rides look WET! Hope to catch some of you tomorrow.

Ledkr Fri 21-Mar-14 19:32:03

I'm going too. Not much fun for me cis I'm stuck with the toddler but dd and her brothers can't wait, hope to see sknd of you in the tent.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday Fri 21-Mar-14 19:46:41

We can't wait, have to get up at 6am but it's going to be worth it!

Eastpoint Fri 21-Mar-14 21:13:00

We're excited, dd2 has a music exam first but we're ready to roll. Towels needed for the journey home if we're going to go on the wet rides.

Notmyidea Fri 21-Mar-14 21:27:25

Really excited dds here! Looking forward to the morning. Towels sound like a good idea...

Ledkr Fri 21-Mar-14 21:43:33

Anyone seen then weather forcast?

We are lucky too and a long drive for us as well setting off about 7am. Kids are dead giddy and have given me their orders for clothes, music and stuff. Early night for us allsmile.

MrsMot Fri 21-Mar-14 21:46:51

Take your brollies or those v fetching rain ponchos...

Blustery showers I think smile.

I'm a non tester

For my ultimate fun day out I'd like pleasant & helpful staff & lots of them available to answer questions
Healthy not too expensive food, not just crappy hot dog stands
Covered queues so you don't get soaked waiting for rides
Plenty of clean loos around the place
Plenty of benches

And ways of getting rid of wasps in the summer! Those blighters love theme parks !

lottietiger Fri 21-Mar-14 22:27:27

Fun day out would include good picnic areas with plenty of seating and entertainment as not everyone can afford or want to eat at the restaurant. Preferably short queues or if not something to distract the kids while we are waiting. Some attractions for toddlers not just older kids. Indoor and outdoor attractions to suit the weather.

Ledkr Fri 21-Mar-14 22:30:07

Yes brollies and rain macs. Going to bring my sturdy pushchair as cover is good, don't want a soggy toddler to contend with.

Marking place, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!

Im up grabbing a coffee in peace before wake my mob who are really looking forward to it change of clothes ready to after water rides

Have ds1 age 19
Ds age 17
DD age 11 all above 140

ds3 age 9 and has sn but way way below 140cm as has a form of short stature so maybe in about 10 years he reach it

and me a full time wheelchair user so hopefully between us were cover most bases

Main critera we look at disabled toilets
Helpful staff
good disabled access
something to appeal to all age groups and heights ( this is getting bit more tricky)
Lockers so not carting stuff around
Grass or benches to sit and eat snacky stuff

THE SWARM, Storm Surge, Saw - The Ride, Rumba Rapids, Depth Charge and Logger's Leap all unsuitable for me as cant walk according to guidance am gutted sad
I love rollercoasters I admit Im going to try pushing the matter see how far I can get and exactly how far I can push the rules

JaxTellerIsAllMine Sat 22-Mar-14 06:45:05

My family were chosen too! Cant wait to go. Unfortunately DH has a chest infection and DD/DS hideous coughs but everyone is still up for it. Im up sorting out dogs, cat, myself before getting the others up.

Coffee, lots of it!

See you all in the tent/on the rides.

Oh and hideous ponchos all the way! Its not a theme park without them. grin

Ledkr Sat 22-Mar-14 06:55:02

I'm just about to wake my lot. Can't get it together at all, see you there all.

reading information even more seems 90% rides are no access ,Mn am i allowed to address this when do the feedback thread .As like to try and debunk the theory that wheelchair users do not like thrill rides and that actually we dont all have or need carers .

will do a more traditional feedback from Dc too

As Am away in USA which has more of a culture where suing is normal in accident has bloody good access and was allowed on every ride without a carer including the big roller coasters.( good job as no carers I was the carer and only ds3 and dd

Nerfmother Sat 22-Mar-14 07:04:58

Drinking tea, one excited one up and ready, one teenager still asleep - not sure how we'll get the hair, make up, fashwan, done by 8...

NannyPeach Sat 22-Mar-14 07:07:24

We're up and getting ready to go! Kids extremely excited too!! grin

Ledkr Sat 22-Mar-14 07:10:32

Yes nerf I was thinking the same.

human I'd definitely raise that with them.
What a pity! I'm going to be sat waiting a lot of the time so ill look out for a woman in a wheelchair arguing with staff!! grin

pancakesfortea Sat 22-Mar-14 07:11:18

Non tested here. My perfect day out is

Easy to get to by public transport. So often everything is set up for drivers.

Short and / or well managed queues. So coffee and entertainment while you're waiting.

Variety of stuff for different ages to enjoy.

Mix of indoor and outdoor.

All paid for once you're in - I don't mind paying more on the gate if there are no extras once you're in.

Toilets, picnic benches, phone charging points, etc in.abundance.

Ledkr

Its a big big offroad style chair I reckon it make me one of the most easiest Mn to spot grin
