I wasn't lucky enough to be chosen for this trial but my 13 month old little boy absolutely loves the strawberry rice cakes, in fact we went shopping this morning to get stocked up!.

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?
Good selection of foods that I had not seen before.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

The strawberry flavour rice cake are good - they smell / taste nice and do not stain as badly as others!

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?
The recipe base was very useful for adding my own ingredients to. The paste pot recipes I have not tried yet as they ask for a lot of ingredients, and to be honest, if i am going to get those ingredients I will usually be making my own pasta / curry which my daughter will eat anyway.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?
I used the Mexican rice and added some BBQ chicken.

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?
Yes - we tried everything and found them fairly tasty!

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?
Slightly expensive; but good value considering I would have got 4 meals from the recipe base.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?
She liked everything I gave her and I will be getting the recipe base and snacks again but probably not the paste pots.

Hello! Just marking my place.

Also wondering if anyone has any good ideas.....

My DS is Cow's Milk Protein Intolerant and allergic to soya. All the recipe ideas suggest adding things he can't eat.
Green vegetable pasta- cream cheese & Parmesan cheese
Chicken Tikka- full fat yoghurt
Veggie korma- single cream
Mexican rice- cheddar cream

Has anyone got any good ideas for substitutes? If not I'll try the recipes without the milk products. We often use coconut milk, which might work. (We've been advised against goat's milk).
Thank you!

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?

There was a good selection and it matched the products stated in the previous communication, so was what I was expecting.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

I liked the look of the cooking sauce pots and there isn' a lot of this type of thing on the baby food market at the moment. It is nice to have something that I can use to cook myself, but without worrying about the content of things like salt etc. that are in adult versions of the same type of thing.

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

The recipes were easy to follow and there were some nice ideas for meals. I preferred the paste pots to the recipe bases, as it gave me a nice starting point but I could use a normal recipe but easily make it baby-friendly! I would imagine that these pots would be with the baby food in a supermarket.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

I made the chicken & green bean korma and also the chicken tikka massala. I used the recipes on the Goodies website as a base, but added some other things, like additional vegetables and substituted dairy ingredients for non-dairy as my son is allergic to cow's milk.

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

We ate the curry and whilst it needed some added tabasco / chilli powder for my husband, I was happy with the taste. It was great to have something we could all eat but was easy and quick to make for mid-week dinners, as we are time poor outside of the weekend!!

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

I think the paste pots are good value at £2.50 for 2 pots as it would be possible to get quite a few servings and freeze meals for a quick home cooked dinner in the future as well. The recipe base appears poorer value as it is one pot, but I suspect that we could get a similar amount of meals from it as it is bigger. I think the soups on the website are great value considering the convenience.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

I will definitely purchase the paste pots in the future and will also be buying the soups to have in the cupboard (although I know they weren't in the pack, I saw them when visiting the website for recipe ideas)

The strawberry hearts were too sweet for my son and he screwed his nose up at them! He is also not a big fan of rice cakes, although he did nibble on a few when I included them in a packed lunch one day. He does like the savoury Goodies snacks though, so I think his sweet tooth is reserved for yoghurt (non-dairy!) and fruit only :-)

Remind me - we have a similar issue as my son is allergic to cow's milk protein but he can have soya so I use that as a milk and cream substitute often. Coconut milk would be best in your case IMO, as the other subs (almond milk, rice milk) would probably be too thin. If you whip coconut milk it gets a bit thicker so could sub for single cream.

In my experience the cheese substitutes are pretty gross so we tend to avoid anything cheesey and the only thing I have found to be remotely palatable is a Free From cheese spread, but it is soya based.

I have recently found the Free From food awards website, which is an absolute mine of great information about new free from producers and the cheese winner from last year might be useful for you: www.freefromfoodawards.co.uk/winners-12.html

I am not a tester.

I have tried both the Vanilla Hearts and the Strawberry Hearts, I have to say I didn't expect small pieces of freeze-dried bits of strawberries!

My daughter loves her Hearts, but is starting to get a little too big for them!.

I would have liked strawberry flavoured Hearts, and not vanilla with strawberry.

The price for a multipack is reasonable for baby/toddler food, and we have bought many a pack of the normal vanilla Hearts in the past.

We haven't tried them all but thought I'd post about what we've tried.

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?
Nice selection, I like the fact they are mostly meals that we would eat anyway.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

The rice base was different to what we've seen before mainly because normally you wouldn't add anything to the meal with other baby foods. Although the pastes are a new concept to me in baby foods as it's a half way house between jars of baby food and homecooked baby food

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

I've only cooked with the rice base although I think the paste pot is more for us as a family as we tend to eat the same or similar meals as DS. So it would enable us to have a spicy curry while DS is still enjoying a curry as well. Although the rice base was very good for a quick meal after DS had slept through us eating, doesn't happen often.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

I added my own twist, as DS can't have dairy for the mexican rice we added different veg to give it an extra flavour so we added orange and red tomatoes, peas and asparagus.

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

We didn't get a look in, I only cooked half the pot as stated for the portion size and DS ate it all, even the adzuki beans which I didn't think he would.

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?
I think they are worth the money as you do get multiple servings for each.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?
Strawberry rice cakes, he loves them and he really like the rice dish. Will come back again once I've tested the others.

RemindMe DS is CMPI as well, we either add a substitute or in the case of cheese just omit it. Normally with cooking I add coconut milk, as it's the milk I drink and I prefer the taste to the Oatley (DS's milk) or coconut cream.

~ Strawberry Multigrain Hearts 59p
~ Tikka & Korma Paste Pot £2.49
~ Tomatoey Red & Herby Green Paste Pot £2.49
~ Mexican Rice & Sweetcorn Recipe Base £2.49

Questions for testers:
Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?
I was impressed with the range of food. I was excited about the tikka and korma paste as I could make it dairy free! Am planning on making it later this week!

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that? I liked the Mexican rice idea.

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?
I've made the Mexican rice one and I likes that it had flavour but wasn't spicy etc. my 2 year old loved it and it was different. I'm loving the paste pots and used the tomato one with minced lamb and it was scummy.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?
The tomato one I added to mince lamb and passata and served with carrot and swede mash. I usually add a stock gel but this was nicer and less salt! No complaints from anyone (aged 13-2!)

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them? Yes I have tried the Mexican base and the tomato paste pot and found them scummy. Am trying the korma pot later in the week.

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items? The paste pots are quite expensive if I'm honest. I like the rice cakes and hearts and intend to buy these regularly as snacks for my dcs.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?
Will definitely buy the rice cakes and hearts regularly as they went down really well. I may buy the korma paste pot and rice recipe base but not regularly due to the price.

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?

I was surprised and pleased to find the finger foods (the rice cakes and hearts) as well as the cooking bases as my 13month old could sample these straight away. Pleased with the diversity of sauce flavours too; good selection.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

I've seen similar products to the paste pots and finger foods but the mexican meal base is quite different. It's an almost complete meal that just needs a couple of extra ingredients to finish off, looks very quick.

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

I have so far only used the paste pots (will update when have tried the base). The instructions were very straight forward with some excellent suggested recipesthat look very simple. I used the paste pots because I was able to simply siphon off some veg from my dinner to mix with the paste ensuring it was palatable and low-salt for DS. I will try the Base when I'm not cooking for myself but want to make something hot for DS.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

I used the 'Green Veg Pasta' and the 'Mild Veggie Korma' recipes but adapted them to incorporate the veg I was already cooking i.e. substituting asparagus for beans etc. The leaflet included and the website have some good inspiration too.

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

I tried the herby paste pot (Green veg Pasta). It was nice but it tasted quite bland to me probably because I'm used to more seasoning. I suppose it is best to not have an overwhelming flavour so the flavour of the veg/meat isn't totally disguised and the child get used to them. Although some may want the tastes disguised Grin

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

Th finger foods are great value because they're big bags and last a long time. The paste pots and bases are quite expensive. I thought recommendation about how many portions each pot made were quite optimistic and they didn't go as far as they should. I think they are good for occasional use, though, or to make multiple portions of a side dish rather than a main i.e. alongside a chicken breast etc.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

He loved the Green veg Pasta made with the Herby Paste Pot and ate what should have been 2 servings Blush I will make a bolognese with the other pot. Will probably buy again.

He wasn't too keen on the Tikka paste pot recipe but he's never been too keen on strong flavours. He liked the Korma pot but not as much as the Herby pot. It was eaten, but unlikely to buy again.

We haven't tried the base yet.

He loves the rice cakes and puts them in whole Shock A big bag at a good price so will definitely buy again and recommend.

He wasn't keen on the hearts, he enjoyed licking them but then they end up on the floor. This is not unusual, though Grin

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?

It was pretty much what I expected to be honest. DS was straight in there to try the rice cakes out.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

The Mexican base is different to what I've seen before. The paste pots are similar but I have seen adult ones, not really baby ones.

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

Quite honestly, I am struggling to use the paste pots and recipe bases as my son is 17 months and pretty much eats everything we do. If I had just started weaning, I would have more interest in batch cooking for him and then freezing some of the portions. I would expect that I would find the foods in the baby food area in a supermarket.
I guess the recipe base is most suited to me in that respect, as I can add chicken or meat to it for a quick meal.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

I Did visit Organix.com, but reading recipes is too much like hard work for me so I used both the Tomato Red paste pot and the Herby Green one to make a version of our main meal so that I could freeze some for a later time. I used wilted spinach, nutmeg and ricotta cheese mixed with some grated hard cheese and half the paste pot. I stuffed the mixture into some cannelloni tubes and baked them in the oven with the tomato paste pot and half a tin off chopped tomatoes mixed together and a sprinkle of cheese over the top.

The rest of the green paste pot was mixed with some roasted chopped up aubergines and the rice pot.

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

I tried them and found them quite mild tasting for babies, but I guess that is the whole point! We do tend to eat quite a lot of spicy food here though.

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

I think the rice cakes are not bad value, as you get quite a lot. The others are about right IMO.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods?
Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

My son was quite happy to have the new treat of Strawberry Rice Cakes and Strawberry Hearts compared to his usual treats so I would probably buy them again. He ate the rest of the foods with his usual enthusiasm so it went down well for him, and again, it's good to know that it wont have the high sugar/salt content like adult foods, so I will look at getting them again.

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?

The selection was what I expected and I was pleased with the different products.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

The Mexican rice base seemed like a particularly new idea. The mix of prepared ingredients with adding my own fresh items was appealing.

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

I found the paste pots easy to use and the recipes simple to follow. The recipe base is a great idea and was most suited to us out of the two different products because I tend to make curries or pasta dishes that the whole family can eat anyway. The Mexican rice base was something different and was easy to make. I'd expect to find these products with the baby food in the supermarket.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

I used the recipes from the packs but would be happy adding chicken or other veg if I made them again. I tend to find once I've made something once or twice I start making up my own variations depending on what is in the fridge!

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

I try everything as I go along, it was tasty. I particularly liked the tikka.

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

I think they're well priced but the paste pots are at the top end of what I would pay for them. I'll certainly buy the recipe base(s) again and the snacks.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods?
Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

DS ate and loved everything! I would definitely buy most of them again, with the possible exception of the pasta pastes as I can make my own from scratch.

Are there other variations of the Mexican rice base? I liked this the best as it felt like a substantial, healthy meal that was ready very quickly. It's the perfect thing to have for a quick meal for DS after I've been at work all day.

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?

I was very impressed with the food selection and very excited to try them out.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

Yes I don't think I have ever seen this sort of thing. Perhaps I haven't paid enough attention as its usual to see ready meals for babies but not a range that you can cook yourself.

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

Paste pots is an excellent idea and something I would buy.

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

The hearts tasted like cerial and the rice cakes were rice cakes with a hint of real strawberries.
We all had the chicken tikka for dinner. It was a lovely flavour and a meal we can all eat together and be a healthy meal for us all.

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

Yeah seems reasonable.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

They loved the rice cakes.
My kids are a bit fussy so they were not bothered about the sauce in the chicken tikka but they ate the chicken covered in it. My son loved the little strawberry bits in the strawberry hearts.

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has sent to you? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?

It was what I expected Smile

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other baby food is out there? Why do you say that?

I've not used baby foods for this baby, as we've done baby led weaning, but in comparison to what I used to buy last time around (7 yesrs ago!) they were impressive

Q3 How did you find cooking the 'Cook with Organix' recipes, were the instructions easy to follow, were the recipes interesting to you, where would you expect to find these foods in the supermarket? Which of the two products was most suited to you; Paste Pots or Recipe Bases?

Very easy to use, and follow. I'd expect to find them in the baby section but maybe a good idea to market them within the ethnic sections too (ie the Mexican and curry paste)

Q4 what Cook with recipe did you make? Was it one from the pack or did you visit Organix.com for more ideas or add your own twist?

From the pack

Q5 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

The pots were not as bland as I'd expect with usual baby foods and our baby loved all of them!

Q6 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

If you're buying these types of things and have gone down the purée / jar route then they probably are good value to you. We do Baby led weaning so up until we trialled these products bar rice cakes I haven't bought a single baby food item, so for me they'd work out more expensive then just doing something from scratch. However when I was cooking a Thai spicy curry and having forgot that we have a baby before id added a million chilli flakes grabbing one of the pots of paste to add some chicken too was really quick and easy and she loved it. Same applies for the Mexican bean dish that was sent.

Q7 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

she loved them, especially the snacks - flavoured rice cakes and the multigrain hearts and they're handy to have on the go.

I'd like to say thanks for selecting us, although I wouldn't necessarily buy these things on a week to week basis its good to see that there are more choices and flavours these days compared to 7 years ago.

I'm not a tester but had to comment as I have just recently found the paste pots and they are lovely! Our supermarket only stocks the Tikka/Korma and the Thai curry ones and I wish they would stock more of the range.

My son (11 months) has absolutely loved the Tikka and Korma as well as the Thai green chilli (not got round to the red chilli one yet). He would happily much them for lunch and dinner. It's also easy to create a meal with them out of whatever you have in your fridge and cupboard.

At the moment my son is going through a clingy phase and is literally hanging off my legs whenever I prepare food so the paste pots are fantastic as it takes so much less time to cook a really appetising dinner.

I must say my partner and I have both love the taste of them too (lovely to find baby food that's not bland or overly onion-y) and it would be nice if you would create "family sized" paste pots so we could all have the same dinner.
They are rather costly, though, so not something we could buy on a week to week basis.

Another non tester here, but just wanted to say how much my 1 year old daughter loves Organix foods. She likes the snack bars and mighty meals the most and they're so healthy, with lots of variety.

We also find Organix products very good value for money! And mummy and daddy also enjoy the odd nibble of the mini gingerbread men our daughter loves the most!
