We have a very exciting event and product test for you to take part in - PlayStation would like to invite 20 Mumsnetters to attend an event in central London this Saturday (10 Nov) to showcase their new Book of Spells game. Here's a word from PlayStation about this magical new game: "The Book of Spells will be one of the must have family gifts this Christmas. It's a book that, with the help of PlayStation, literally comes to life on your TV screen, letting you live in the stories you love.

Featuring exclusive new and original writing from J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells sends you on a fantastic journey to read and learn the secrets of wizardry and the art of spell-casting, just like a student at Hogwarts. On the way, you'll discover, practice and be tested on over 20 classic spells, such such as Incendio, Wingardium Leviosa and Expelliarmus."

For more info on the game see here.

We're looking for 20 Mumsnetters who:

~ Have at least one child aged 7-10 years (boy or girl)

~ Are able to attend an event in central London between 12 and 4pm (you only need to attend for one hour during that time) with their family (max 2 adults, 4 children)

~ Are happy to be filmed by PlayStation, and take some footage on their smartphone of their child(ren) before, during and after the event to capture the excitement!

~ Can be a PlayStation Mumsnet panellist afterwards - this will involve taking part in 4 activities over the course of the next year, such as testing new games with their child(ren) and much more

The event will be in a central London location (we'll confirm details with those selected). Travel expenses aren't covered but refreshments will be provided. If you sign up to attend during one of the lunchtime slots though, you will need to have some lunch before or after you attend - the refreshments provided will just be snacks.

You will only be required to attend for one hour, so please tick your first and second choices of time slots on the sign up survey (link below). During your session you and your family will be shown how to set up the game, how to play and you'll be given the opportunity to film your child(ren) playing the game.

After the event you'll be sent a Wonderbook PS3 hard bundle (PS3 console, Move Controller, PlayStation Eye, Wonderbook & Book of Spells) to keep (RRP £199). You'll need to film your child(ren) playing the game at home and send in your footage to Mumsnet. You'll also need to add your feedback on the event, and the game itself on a thread on Mumsnet.

The footage you and other Mumsnetters submit, as well as the footage PlayStation capture on the day may appear on Mumsnet and potentially elsewhere. Please only sign up for this if you're happy with that.

If you're interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks - we'll be in touch with selected Mumsnetters by Thurs (8 Nov).

Is it easy to set the ps3 up? Do you have to connect it to the wifi, I've forgotten the password and Dh is away.

jennywren123 Sat 10-Nov-12 20:30:34

We did connect ours to the wifi, but I think you could probably skip that bit of the setup.

BertieBotts Sat 10-Nov-12 20:37:06

I have mine plugged directly into the router. No password needed that way. However you don't need an internet connection for most games, unless you want to play online.

Magna Sat 10-Nov-12 20:42:51

Yay DS in bed at long last. I have never known him so quiet shock grin

DH now playing it grin

Viva I am struggling as well. I am shattered. Fantastic day though.

VivaLeBeaver Sat 10-Nov-12 20:44:50

The routers upstairs so I can't plug it in directly. I might try setting it p after xfactor.

HATTI blush I will pay VERY good money to make sure that's deleted!!!!

I was FAR too stressed to take any films at the event - we got there late (yes folks in the 2-3 slot, it was I and my Oh so helpful DS who walked in 15 minutes late - we didn't realise quite how much walking from Euston it would be!)

It was a brilliant afternoon though!

LewisFan Sat 10-Nov-12 22:50:29

I mean films other than a 2 minute one of DS playing it... obviously (idiot)

ScorpionQueen Sat 10-Nov-12 23:56:20

We have had the most wonderful day. DD2 is in bed but DD1 is still up playing on their new PS3. The mumsnetters I met were lovely and my internet usage is now totally justified forever. Thank you so much.

I've added all the bits of filming but I didnt see the part about filming other people playing the game or ds watching others play at the event, so it's saying I've not added enough content to publish it. Is this going to matter? confused

When we were there the play station man said we didn't have to bother filming the event if we didn't want to as it was so cramped and noisy. But we need it to complete the tasks! I'm confuzzled.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 11-Nov-12 08:48:57

I didn't film other people's kids either!

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Sun 11-Nov-12 09:02:17

I made a couple of really nice 2 minute videos of ds2 playing. Only to realize later that right next to him, appeared the bottom of the woman sitting sort of behind him bending forward filming her child. I did not notice until reviewing the footage later. I cant possibly pass that on.

Or can I? grin Sorry slim stylish woman with long blond hair. Your bottom will be as famous as Beyonces.

jennywren123 Sun 11-Nov-12 09:14:39

NotShort Yes, he definitely said that it was a bit too cramped and noisy to film in that room.

DS is playing at the moment, he loves the fire making spell - wonder if I should be worried about that!

VivaLeBeaver Sun 11-Nov-12 10:01:17

It was really noisy. We could barely hear the computer/tv that we were playing on due to the noise levels from the other TVs.

pantone363 Sun 11-Nov-12 10:45:00

Notquint, were you at 12-1?

NotQuintAtAllOhNo Sun 11-Nov-12 11:01:14

Yes, 12-1! grin was that you?

The room was really too small and crowded.

pantone363 Sun 11-Nov-12 11:11:39

blush you are the second person to say that have footage of my arse. Ill repeat my offer of good money if you delete it

Yes the room was far too small to fulfil the filming brief!

ScorpionQueen Sun 11-Nov-12 13:33:26

Pantone, I would focus on the fact we all thought you are stylish and attractive. I wouldn't mind showing my arse if it was small like yours (I did not film it though- I think).
